Bucs Face Hot Vikings

December 7th, 2020

Vikings QB Kirk Cousins after recent win streak.

So even though the Bucs didn’t play, in the race for the playoffs the Bucs lost yesterday.

With Seattle getting stunned by the Colt McCoy-led Giants (!), it is now the Seahawks, not the Rams, who have the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs if the postseason were to begin play today.

Now the Bucs are looking at a rematch with the Rams in Los Angeles.

Here’s the thing: Because they had to go to overtime to beat the jughead Jags yesterday, people are just mocking the Vikings. Not Joe! This team has talented players and when they can get things together, they are dangerous.

Gee, who does that sound like?

The Vikings are currently the No. 7 seed. Yes, the Bucs’ next opponent.

And while the Bucs are not hot, losing three of their last four, the Vikings are very much hot, winning five of their last six games.

No, the Vikings may not win pretty, but they get the job done. That’s all that counts in the NFL. This isn’t college football where you have to have style points like gymnastics to impress voters.

It’s not like Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins doesn’t know how to beat the Bucs.

If the Bucs don’t play smart ball in six days and start putting points up on the board in the first quarter, at the end of the day next Sunday it could be the Vikings who are the No. 6 seed and not the Bucs.

Hopefully we can return the “how you like that” favor to Cousins!

Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen are going to combine for 300 yards into tester

I commented on this in a post earlier today. So yup, the last paragraph above tells the story and it will be the talk all week in the sports media. The deeper part is the Bucs identity, if they lose Sunday will be: Despite all the talent at the skill positions…big names…the Bucs can’t win when they need to win.

It doesn’t matter if their roster is better, if they are ranked higher. They have lost/almost lost to mediocre-to-poor teams and have trouble beating good-to-great teams…in many cases, and all recent games. In some, they can’t even stay in the game.

I saw this wreck coming two weeks ago. And now Sunday, they drive to the scene. Will we find any casualities, or will things be good?

  4. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

The Vikings have recently lost to the Cowboys and barely beat the 1-win, Mike Glennon led, openly tanking Jags. A bit of stretch to call them hot dont ya think?

Winning? They’re 6-6. Hot? Eh, not really? In the hunt? Yes.

Coming off a bye, this is a game we should absolutely win, no excuses. Stop Cook, and we dominate

  5. 813bucboi Says:

    the playoffs have begun!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  6. Bradinator Says:

The Vikes are mediocre at best. They barely beat the team that will, most likely draft 2nd, with their third string QB. Hardly a contender. If we can’t beat them, we aren’t either.

  7. pewter941 Says:

2 weeks to prepare for them, feels like a must win.

joe i get why you are worried but that game against the WFT was so long ago. cousins isnt even on the same team. that is like bringing up the bucs beating the steelers with josh mccown in 2014. come on.
Joe only brought that up for fun, not out of any deep analysis for Sunday. –Joe

  9. Sumosam Says:

This is a must win game and we all know it. If we don’t see our best performance this week, we have problems. I think we will. It’s crunch time and maybe that’s what this team needs.

  10. chris L Says:

joe – fair haha but like many losses in the past 15 years, that one stings. we remember the hard losses more than the big wins. here is hoping we get some big wins the next two(three?) months!

  11. Dlavid Says:

A lot of questions will be answered Sunday !

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Like I’ve said, Talk is cheap. Show me what you Bucs. Run The Table. Win 4 straight. Then we can say we got something. Run’em or go limping into the playoffs. Put up or shut up.

  13. Beeej Says:

Cousins is utterly ineffective in the absence of Cook running for 150 yards

  14. PSL Bob Says:

Again, don’t get too hung up who the Bucs will play in the playoffs. My major concern is whether or not the Bucs make the playoffs, and the game this week will help solidify their chances if they can beat the Vikings. As other talking heads have noted, the Bucs are capable of beating any team and also of losing to any team. The Bucs capable of beating any team better show up soon!

Aside from the two games against N.O. to determine the NFC’s alpha dog…sadly we get that old bromide…if you aren’t the lead dog the view never changes.

This is the true statement game. Are we contenders or pretenders. Two weeks off and a chance to lay claim to the playoffs with a WIN!

  16. orlbucfan Says:

The so-called lowly Jaguars gave the Vikings fits yesterday. Jax fans would kill o be in our Bucs fan shoes right now. There is NO reason why Bucs can not win this one and run the table on the final 3 games. NONE. I am looking at the 2 Methuselahs as I type. 😡

  17. Kgh4life Says:

This Vikings team scares me. Theilen and Jefferson are legitimate threats and Mike Zimmer is damn good coach. Bruce has to play smart football and quit worrying about throwing deep balls and play complimentary football, meaning possess the football and play less defense, however, knowing how stubborn BA is, i highly doubt it. Vikings win 27-24.

  18. Fernando Says:

They almost lost to the Jaguars please!!!!

  19. unbelievable Says:

    “You like that?”

  20. Andrew Says:

Nah bucs are coming off a bye week got plenty of time to study and adjust. If we loose it will be because of the coaching cause in big games Brady’s knows how to win.
