New Worry For Panthers

November 15th, 2020

When the Bucs recorded a wire-to-wire win against the Panthers in Week 2, they did it without a catch from Rob Gronkowski.

Joe expects today to be a very different story, especially after seeing Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce roll up 159 yards on 10 catches against Carolina last Sunday.

In the Week 2 Bucs-Panthers game, Gronk was a “blocking tight end” (his words) struggling to find his legs after a year of retirement.

Remember Leonard Fournette’s long TD run to seal that game? You can watch it here and thank Gronk for textbook tight end work opening the hole inside.

Gronk got his legs back and was on a three-game roll before last Sunday’s seal-clubbing against the Saints, where he dropped a touchdown pass and caught one of six balls thrown in his direction.

One thing Joe likes for the Bucs in this game is the Panthers will have something new to worry about: Gronk in the passing game. O.J. Howard played against Panthers last time (remember him?); he caught 1 ball for 11 yards.

Over and over and over again, Joe has heard that Gronk is uncoverable (assuming he’s healthy). Well, Joe is fired up to see that in a few short hours.

I just read that the Bucs O-Line will look very different against the Kitties after that late-term abortion against the Saints.

Shipley at C, Jensen moves to LG.

Fingers crossed. At least the Kitties DL is not the same class as the Saints.

So much for the Haeg experiment.

The OL shuffle signals a heavy dose of RoJo and Fournette imo. Brady play action to Evans for at least one TD.

Will never happen with bad playcaller Byron Leftwich at the helm.

I’m calling the first Bucs drive right now:

    Run for 2 yards.
    Incomplete pass.
Dumpoff to Rojo for 4 yards
    Punt

    Moar Gronk
    Less Haeg

Haeg was advertised as versatile but he looked like an out of position tackle playing guard. Still depth at tackle is better than nothing.
