Arians Makes A Move

November 15th, 2020

New position.

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians isn’t farting around.

Appalled by the way Joe Haeg turned the left side of the Bucs offensive line into a total sieve last week and nearly got Bucs quarterback Tom Brady maimed, Arians is pulling the trigger.

With Ali Marpet out in concussion protocol, Arians has benched Haeg and will juggle the offensive line, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Joe is also going to assume Haeg will resume his normal duties as a max-protect tackle who comes in on some passing downs.

The way Joe looks at this is it cannot be much worse than it was last weekend. Remember, A.Q. Shipley was unemployed for a reason. And Joe guesses that reason wasn’t that he blocked like a brick wall.

So this move could be robbing Paul to pay Peter. The Bucs will surely get better blocking on the left side, but what about up the middle? Brady is often flustered when pressured up the middle.

Or is Arians doing this to stop Brian Burns? Yeah, Joe knows Burns usually plays on the Stinking Panther’s left side. But if you were Carolina coach Matt Rhule, and he’s no dummy, would you take your shot with your best pass rusher against Tristan Wirfs or Donovan Smith?

Why is it that when we play teams with beat up O-Lines, their o-lines MANHANDLE us.

When we have a beat up o-line, it’s going to be….WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!

  2. August 1976 Buc Says:

Well we will see what happens, can’t be worse then the Saints blasting a hole in the Left side last week. A band-aid until Ali gets back. As I have said many times ” KEEP TOM ALIVE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVE” because Gabbert is taking this team nowhere. GO BUCS!!!!

  3. Allbuccedup Says:

If Joe Haeg is not any good why is he on the team. Looks like a slap in his face to me.

  4. Gofortheface30 Says:

Scotty – damn right, every single team in the NFL has had backups play and they’ve managed reasonably well for the most part. The Bucs have been the only team with the same 5 starters all yr. Now when we have 1 (ONE) god damn injury it becomes a calamity of epic proportions? Unacceptable of the highest order. Figure it out

  5. BradyBucs Says:

This is a smart move by Arians no matter what. Gives our O-Line some flexibility for later in the season should there be an injury or an adjustment needing to be made.

This is just very, very SMART.

As ‘nasty’ as Jensen is, I always thought he might be more effective as a Guard anyway. Mauling people on running plays, etc.

This will be really interesting to see how this plays out today.

    ALSO…

Did Jimmy Dean and Sean Murphy-Bed hopefully miss the plane last night and won’t play?

    We can only hope.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t really know why but I’m skeptical….I guess it’s because we are changing 2 positions instead of 1…..I sure hope I’m wrong.

  8. Tom Terrific Says:

If we don’t establish the run and continue to mix in the run, expect the losses to pile up. BL needs to get a clue.

  9. bucs_1 Says:

well how many bad snaps gonna happen today?

  10. DaBux Says:

I’m good with this. Jensen gives us our running game back on that side and helps cover for part time tackle Donovan Smith.

  11. Jmarkbuc Says:

The coaching by this huge staff is more and more suspect every week. And Leftfoot is high on the prospective HC list?

    Take him please.

  12. Joe Says:

well how many bad snaps gonna happen today?

    🤔

  13. Coburn Says:

Well losing marpet hurt players on both sides.. so LT,LG,C all effected… I’m worried now with the shift we will have average to poor okay from LT,LG,C,RG (we will see how good cappa is or not with maybe not so good center play next to him)

  14. Bucfan81 Says:

No excuses this backups get paid so they need to do there damn job so Brady can get the ball out. Can’t wait for Marpet to get back

  15. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

TBBF, we should be skeptical. Moving two players bc Haeg was so bad last week screams us having concern. I was excited when we signed Haeg; “great depth move”, so we all thought. WTF HAPPENED there?!

Is Haeg hurt?😳 Is it bad coaching?😒 WTH? Are they blaming Haeg so Donvan’s feeling aren’t hurt?😂

  16. Joe in Michigan Says:

I like the fact they’re TRYING something different. No more days of Caleb Benenoch remaining the starter when he wasn’t doing the job.

  17. Cobby61 Says:

Watching the Buccaneers this year. Actually I’m impressed with the defense to an extent. Last week was 😳 not sure. But after watching the Buc’s Giants game
I was thinking something is not right. This should be a 10-14 point lead. If not more. So really I was not surprised y the Saints win. Just the blowout score.
It seems every loss this year BA attacked TB12’s performance. 😂 really Bruce, your the coach. Accept some responsibility here.

  18. Karen Mills Says:

OMG ITS ABOUT TIME. WE LOVED BRADY AS A PATEIOT AND HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR HIM AND THE BUCS. THE TEAM WAS LOOKING LIKE CRAP AND NOT BECAUSE OF BRADY. THE TEAM WAS SLACKING BAD. WAS HOPING ARIANS WOULD WAKE UP. YOU GOT THE BEST WITH BRADY. LET HIM TAKE YOU TO SUPERBOWL!!

  19. SufferingSince76 Says:

Karen, can you keep it down next time? That really hurt my ears!

  20. Steve Griffin Says:

Come on, Bucs fans, injuries happen, O-lines get juggled like this all the time. Y’all know that. Hope your O-line improves!

  21. Lance Humphrey Says:

Everyone thinks LEFTWICH is so great as a OC am sorry the guy is terrible with all the matchups that could be LEFTWICH can’t figure out where the ball goes . The best Tight end in game and you got him blocking almost every down . Flood one side of the field with Grong and Evan’s and AB the defense has no answer for that .

  22. Russ Says:

As an Arizona Cardinals fan that knows pretty well about Bruce Arians and even in his time in Indianapolis offensive lions were always a big problem during his reign as Arizona Cardinals coach to give Buccaneers fans an idea as to what Cardinals fans dealt with in frustration was the lack of decent cohesive offensive line play it’s been a hallmark of his coaching unfortunately it’s what cost the Cardinals from going to the super Bowl during his years as coach here You guys are going to start experiencing the same
