Locking In On Gronk

November 10th, 2020

“Look, there’s Gronk!”

Joe has sensed for weeks that there is something going on between Bucs star receiver Mike Evans and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Yeah, Joe gets that early in the season Evans was hurt and Brady was just learning the offense. But nine games into the season and Evans being fully healthy, those excuses don’t hold water.

And if the quarterback so many love to hate (YouKnowWho) could consistently find Evans open, then why can’t God’s gift to quarterbacks, Mr. Six Rings?

Yesterday, Bucco Bruce Arians sort of let the cat out of the bag when asked about why Evans is not being targeted. Arians said Evans “was open.”

This just in: Joe is confident Arians isn’t talking about Blaine Gabbert.

Well, leave it to former NFL scout and NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah to shed light on this mystery. It seems Brady is locked in way too much on foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski. And Jeremiah is armed with video evidence.

Jeremiah also showed a clip from Sunday’s Saints curb-stomping how on one play Evans was so wide open he looked like he was playing center field for the Rays. Instead, Brady threw to the right sideline incomplete.

Joe cannot really tell from the video but it appears Brady was throwing to Scotty Miller.

Evans, had Brady thrown his way, would have had an 82-yard touchdown. Joe means there was no one anywhere near Evans down the middle.

The score at the time was 14-0.

You can watch the video of Brady missing (?) Evans here.

Below, you can listen to and see Jeremiah demonstrate — video style! how Brady is always locked in on Gronk in an NFL Network video. Joe knows if YouKnowWho was doing that, the poor guy would have needed a police escort to get home Sunday night.

Is Brady’s eyesight starting to go at his old age?

He’s saving it for ARB (the new cancer).

  2. VA Tom Says:

It won’t get better with Brown. Brady seems to have “pets”. Hopefully it is a “scheme” issue and not a personality/trust issue between him and Mike.

Holy Gronkamoli, what do you know, Tom is more comfortable throwing to Gronk. Might have something to do with 3rd all time QB and reciever TD combonation. And a decade together. Looks like Tom is a creature of habit. Maybe it is Trust, belief, familiarity, whatever else. It looks like Mr 6 rings is actually a human being and not a Cyborg QB machine. I would run anything he is comfortable with, becuz he had been to 9 SB añd 6 Rings playing the way he is comfortable. I do not care about the name on the back of the Jersey. Evans or Brady or Winston, or Doug Williams, just WIN. Everything else may be good for chatter, and so be it, but all I want to see is a winning team. Whatever Tom is comfortable with, fine. Just win. GO BUCS!!!!!

This is garbage lol. The issue is Brady not having time. On the first three examples of Brady didn’t unload when he did he gets sacked. It looks like Gronk is his first target and he has no time to go through progressions so he unloads. This isn’t proof of anything.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It seemed to me that Brady was totally unable to go through his progressions Sunday……he threw it to his first target and several times he threw it away to his first target.
We were crushed on the Oline…..from the very start…..

Agree with the article, wish there were ways to see the video linked for those of us that shut off Twitter.

The saints were living in the backfield. I’m more concerned we didn’t do anything play calling wise to slow them down on the pass rush. Run some screens, run a reverse to AB ,let the TEs run up the seams and clear out the middle and the Wrs run underneath routes into that space. Sometimes the play calling is really good and at other times I don’t know what they are doing

  8. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

This game snowballed quickly, when you are trying to push the plays down field with abandoning the run, our scheme typically takes to long for the routes to develop and you can’t do that with N.O’s defensive front. Sean Payton knew that and came prepared.

We played right into the Saints game and strengths, simple as that.

Yes Brady was off on several throws but collapsed under the pressure with his throws too, so he went to his safety net Gronk and it wasn’t working. Our left side OL was weak, especially with Marpet out, and right side not as experienced. We don’t use enough underneath routes or quick slants to try to set up the run when we panic. Only 4 run plays……… Our Defensive scheme was sh@t, we cannot play zone on N.O. they tear us up each time, our zone concepts were too complicated it seems for our D backs to try to acclimate to in game time situations and got exposed. I saw L David look confused and just about everyone else, they couldn’t get set or just weren’t even in the same time zone as the receivers. Hardly any defensive pressure with our front 4, no creative blitzing that i saw, it goes on and on.

This game falls more on the Coaches than the players, players take a share of course but that was a horribly called and executed disgrace of a Game.

Appears there was no time for QB progressions…

Appreciate the shoutout, Joe! While Brady was under pressure most of the night I’m convinced this has been happening all year. I have friends that aren’t Bucs fans tell me they’ve even noticed it as well. That video with Evans wide open in the middle of the field made me want to chug adult beverages and bang my head against the wall until everything goes dark. Brady has to take his fair share of the blame.

brady and bruce are running two different systems. that’s why it looks the way it does. bruce needs to gtf out of the way and let the mistro work. the entire team is coached poorly. no adjustments whatsoever.

  14. Joe Says:

    Appreciate the shoutout, Joe!

Thanks for calling Joe’s attention to it! Good stuff!

  15. Eric Brierton Says:

Wow hey @JOE: ANYONE…who knows footbal wouldnobviously know brady had absolutley no time to throw the ball for 25 yard bombs or go through his progressions…the coaches had horrible play calling ..instead of throwing short routes slants screens …something with only 2 seconds to get rid of the ball….our oline was trash …i dont cate who you are …just like what happend to rogers happend to us…and on the defense side you cant play zone defense with BREES!!!!!!!! …AND NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE IN THE SECOND HALF

  16. rrsrq Says:

Can’t wait to see Ronde Barber breakdown and find some plays to highlight, maybe the Shaq sack, but back to the subject, you know who, trusted Mike, even when he wasn’t completely open, he figured that ME had an advantage on the 50-50 ball.

  17. Bobby M. Says:

The issue with Evans is simple…..Evans routes take time to develop, his strength is getting down the field 1 on 1. Brady on the other hand is programmed to get the ball out quick which is why he tends to find these other receivers, their routes simply dont take as long to develop. I also think Brady thrives on staying in rhythm, those long developing plays tend to be less consistent. Brady finds Evans consistently in the red zone….WHY? It’s a quick read…bang bang play. Hike, step, throw. That’s what Brady likes. Any type he drops back….if he holds it for more then 2 seconds his instinct is to start covering up even if there’s not really pressure there. I think that’s the biggest issue with those two. Evans can drop in the slot but the issue there is he doesn’t have the burst like a Godwin or Brown to make that first guy miss and get up field and he’s not a beast like Gronk as far as simply running through defenders.

  18. Robert Says:

@ joe……nah not banned from twitter. have an account, just deleted password etc…….after covid I was on there a lot, and it’s just horrible for the brain. F twitter is all. sows nothing but discord same with FB….those two rot the brain, increase BP and remove one from the real world.

  19. cmurda Says:

Exactly what Bobby said. Lets not try to invent issues that aren’t there. I sincerely doubt there’s a personal conflict with ME and TB12. Our O Line is simply not that good. They are inconsistent. They can be good but they can also be Sunday night bad. marpet ay be our best o Lineman but it shouldn’t fall apart because he’s not in there. The problem with this team is that O Line. Brady has tried to be patient and he’s ended up getting crushed for it. That will make any QB try to get rid of the ball quicker. Byron doesn’t know how to call offense with the ball coming out quick. Herein lies our dilemma. The solution is to light a fire under Donovan’s lazy ass and to draft his replacement this draft because that fire won’t work. Haeg is worthless and Cappa is meh at best. The O Line is what it is for now. Byron is going to have to be realistic with what they are capable of doing and shorten the route tree.

  20. cmurda Says:

The sky was falling after the first Saints game and the Bucs won 3 straight right after. The sky ended up falling yet again after the bears game (We were robbed by the refs Joe. We were) and we won 3 straight right after. Here we go with Armageddon again because we got beat by a coach that takes pleasure in abusing us. There is zero surprise. We were due for a clunker. The Packers had their clunker against us. We killed the Raiders. It will work itself out. The O Line coach needs to earn his freaking money because the single biggest problem in our losses was the O Line sucking tail.

  21. Joe Says:

who knows footbal wouldnobviously know brady had absolutley no time to throw the ball for 25 yard bombs or go through his progressions…

Never suggested that. Go look at the video Joe linked to. Does it look like Brady had time to hit Evans (who was ridiculously wide open) on the play? Seemed so.

Point is, Brady, for reasons not clear, isn’t targeting Evans very much unless it is in goal line situations. Can no longer use the excuse Evans is hurt and not getting open (or that they need time to get on the same page).

And Evans isn’t running 25-yard routes every play.

  22. unbelievable Says:

    Brady had plenty of time.

He’s simply not seeing the field. He’s missing open guys and throwing INTs that #YouKnoeWho would have been crucified for doing.

Bunch of ignorant homers around here.

  23. ExPatfanPatty Says:

Every aspect of that game the box stunk up the place Tom Brady didn’t have time to throw the ball the offensive line wasn’t protecting him the defense didn’t come to their rescue or play up to their potential many of the receivers weren’t open they got out played and outsmarted bruised also you think there would have been some halftime adjustments and there weren’t any Tom Brady acts like a surgeon on the field and he had no time to do anything it was a terrible miscarriage of Justice

  24. Beastman Says:

Every ones wrong because. James winston gave up the whole playbook too saints plus offensive line aucks and d is out of place and not getting to qb plus where getting nothing from special teams.
