The War On Tom Brady

June 27th, 2020

Freakout over workouts.

The message seems clear from a borderline hysterical national NFL writer:

Tom Brady will get us all sick and may cause a death or two.

That’s the conclusion to an illogical argument Nancy Armour of USA Today made. Armour condemned the Bucs’ park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring quarterback Friday for participating in workouts with teammates.

But [Brady] also could be jeopardizing the health and safety of players around the league for months to come.

No, those are not Joe’s words. Those are from Armour, as published on USAToday.com.

Really.

Of course, the crux of Armour’s angst is the nerve of Brady, who is working out at a local high school with a handful of other teammates. Armour paints a picture of Brady having mind control over these teammates, forcing them to work out with him and exposing them to a deadly disease as if his teammates — adults, all — can’t even make up their own minds whether they need to use a bathroom or not.

The gatherings, per Armour, are a petri dish for “The Sickness,” which will envelop the NFL as a whole before the bloom subsides.

Because of Brady throwing passes to teammates, apparently.

Last week, after it was learned two unidentified Bucs players came down with “The Sickness” (Joe has no clue if they were fouled by Brady himself or not), the NFLPA’s medical advisor issued a warning cautioned players not to work out together until training camp.

Yeah, like “The Sickness” is going to burn out and vanish in four weeks. Right.

Armour is unnerved that Brady and teammates have the gall to “flout” — her word, not Joe’s — the advice from the NFLPA medical advisor. She even got DeMaurice Smith director of the NFLPA and known advocate of leaky, sleepy Josh Freeman, to scold Brady about the practice of having a practice.

Then later Friday, Joe heard Tom Pelissero of NFL Network appear on “Mad Dog Radio,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio, also discuss how Brady’s workouts are a virtual unsecured Wuhan lab that is sure to accelerate the spread of “The Sickness.” Pelissero assumes this because, in part, he thinks Brady and company may not be disinfecting their footballs enough.

Seriously.

Yet people can pump gas in their own vehicles, and many do so without using gloves or disinfectant wipes. Has Pelissero or anyone in authority advocated the closing of gas stations or mandatory sanitizing between pumps?

How many reading this story use keypads to purchase groceries or obtain cash? Are those keypads wiped down after each use? No? Oh.

If these workouts were so dangerous, doesn’t anyone think the school, Berkeley Prep, would shut them down? Wouldn’t just about any school hosting some type of practice on its premises stop the activities if it put people at risk?

Nevermind that at the very same time Brady and company are working out, the same school is also hosting youth sports camps of all sorts.

Where is the moral indignation about that? Those are children involved, not adults.

But yeah, blame Brady. (Imagine if Jameis did this? The #BlameJameis crowd would fully melt down.)

Additionally, Chris Godwin (and who knows who else) took part in some sort of football skills camp recently. If Brady’s workouts are going to get another player sick as a dog in December, what about Godwin’s workouts? Why should he get off the hook?

Joe is being a little facetious about Godwin there. But really, does Armour actually believe Brady and maybe a dozen Bucs teammates are the only NFL players working out together? If so, that’s incredibly naive. Even a former NFL offensive lineman said so this week.

Joe is not trying to trivialize this international health crisis we are trying to get through. At all. And yes, Joe is taking more precautions than Brady seemingly is. But can we tone down the hysteria and fingerpointing?

Brady and his teammates are not doing anything differently than what the Lightning are doing, or what the Rays will do beginning Wednesday, and what untold number of youth campers throughout Florida are doing now.

Why is Brady being singled out as some irresponsible, egotistical monster?

There are a helluva lot better things to freak out over in this world right now than Brady throwing passes to wide receivers at an upscale, private preparatory school.

By this point they are like a family now. Let them stay together and bring others in one at a time. If somebody is going to get sick, better now and get it over with. Seems like some people think we can get to zero transmission of the virus if we all stay home and wear masks. Unlikely.

What is more importance, throwing a football, or following the rules like everyone else has to. People or dying everyday, from this virus.

Not to change the topic, but in two days it’s been reported JPP and Vita Vea will miss time with knee and hand surgeries respectively. Vea’s seems more serious since it’s reported he will miss some of training camp. Concerning news regarding two hugely important big men up front this year.

  13. Todd Says:

    Good…on…Tom!

For not acquiescing to the nonsense fear porn being propagated throughout the media about this MADE-UP “sickness”. Viruses are blood-born. You cannot catch a virus the way “they” purport! Viruses are DEAD outside the host. The only way you can “catch” a virus is when your OWN body creates it (to fight off some toxins in your system) or via a vaccine. Bacterial transmission? Different story!

For those who aren’t yet WOKE to the fact this is all about Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030…simply watch WAY TO MUCH mainstream news. Since this nonsense started, the hospitals have been EMPTY!

So stop this lying nonsense about Tom Brady putting the NFL at risk for throwing a damned football to has teammates. Engage just a WEE BIT of critical thought. According to the CDC’s own data, so far in 2020 the worldwide death rate has GONE DOWN year-over-year!

The Babylonians running the show simply hijacked the flu season and called it a different name. The two guys who produced the very first Covid-death model have walked it back a hundred times! They destroyed the world’s economy over this SAME model!!! Wake the F up people!

And let me leave you with this. If you’ve had a bad cold or a flu in the past five years, you’ll likely test positive for Covid-19. Why is the survival rate 99.8%?!?!

Because it’s all BULL…rhymes with SPIT!

    Don’t believe me?

The only way you catch this virus is by watching the news!

Yes, people get sick. People die. The worldwide death rate is down YOY. There is no pandemic.

Now let’s PLAY SOME DAMNED FOOTBALL!

  14. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

Well the 4th of July is coming up, so we’ll have to see if JPP comes out unscathed. This is the most dangerous time of year for him.

It’s time to hold these celebrities accountable that do not think basic public safety does not apply to them!!!!!!!!!! That is why myself and many “real” fans demand that the Nflpa and the NFL offices SUSPEND tom brady for the first three games, for endangering public safety and flaunting health guidelines!!!!!!!!!!!!! This public display of accountability will go a long ways in public health awareness!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three game suspension for tom brady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect your streak of lonely and friendless manifesting in being a constant ignorant contrarian butthead started when you took the job of Teacher’s Pet/Hall Monitor seriously…

I’m curious: what was your technique for extracting yourself from school lockers? Or were you assigned one with an inside release for “special” students with a habit of occupying one on a consistent basis?

  20. David Says:

The world is going crazy. One racist cop commits murder and liberals want to get rid of police departments across the country. Absolutely idiotic

Somehow crazed, ignorant, left wing radicals, mostly young and white, have turned that into ripping down statues of among others, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Francis Scott key, etc….

A pneumonia like disease with a 99.7% survival rate has people across the world locked in their closets for months on end.
The average age of those dying is high 70s, low 80s in Florida.

The world needs to return to normal unless you’re old, sick, diabetic.

Now suddenly the LBGTQLMNOP community is trying to jump on board with BLM.

The PGA tour has tested almost 2500 people so far and they have positive tests in three players and a couple of caddies…. And there are articles my left wing idiots claiming they need to shut it down and there are articles by left-wing idiots claiming they need to shut it down. Unbelievable

So of course they’re going to go after Tom Brady for throwing a football to a handful of people. Something me and my kid have been doing in the park every day with a couple other people for months.

It’s all effed up and the most disgusting part is the vast, vast majority of it has been completely politicized by the Democrat party. Whether you like Trump or not, that is completely obvious and pathetic.
Everything has become about the election. Even though everything going on with riots and people committing assault and arson and tearing down statues and attacking police and trying to defund police is the fault of Democrat officials who refuse to uphold the law in their cities.
Yet they are mostly the same ones screaming for you to stay inside locked in your closet or they’re going to arrest you.

Whatever. Go play football Tom, bring the super bowl Trophy to Tampa.

  25. DRFEELGOOD Says:

These guys aren’t working out together and then going on nursing home Covid autograph tours!! The inflammatory media is so full of crap. Infection rate rising because we are testing SO much more while death rate keeps dropping. Simple as that. Herd immunity in action.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

    @DRFEELGOOD:

    People have forgotten Herd Immunity.

When I hear “infections” are going up, but deaths dropping quickly, I am very happy, because it means more immunity is coming, especially in young ones…who have almost no probability of taking a dirt nap with or because of this virus.

The probability of a vaccine is small. Look at other viruses where the infections are widespread, but no vaccine: Herpes, HIV/AIDS, dengue, malaria, chikungunya, etc.

Herd immunity is the only viable way to put this in the rear-view mirror.

Some enjoy fapping to fear porn…

That woman needs to tell all the other defenses that the Bucs play not to sack, or even touch Brady or they may die of the sickness.

  30. Hodad Says:

If we’re having a season which they say we are, players need to practice. If the writer has a problem, he needs to take it up with the NFL. If the NFL came out tomorrow, and said there will be no season, players like Tom would not be out with his mates during Covid. He’s out there like other NFL players preparing to play a sport that takes practice. They are preparing to play. It’s up to the NFL to cancel the season if they don’t want players getting together.

USA Today is trash and I can’t take anyone that writes for them seriously.
