The End Of Tom Brady’s Workouts?

June 20th, 2020

“Tom, stay away from Ryan Jensen’s wet tail. We can get sweaty together at home.”

The NFLPA has issued an edict to all its members, which of course includes all Bucs players.

Per the medical advice it has received and due to the spike in “The Sickness” over the last few days, the league’s labor association is asking all its members to stop participating in group workouts.

Below is a copy of the statement.

Joe would assume this also means that park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is being advised to stop his workouts with teammates at Berkeley Prep, at least for the time being.

With the opening of Bucs training camp roughly a month away (July 21 — as of now), and players and at least one coach coming down with “The Sickness,” will this be the next time we get to see Brady throw passes to Ronald Jones?

It’s getting hairier out there, folks. Stay safe!

there’s been a 64 percent increase in positive cases across all of Florida the last two days.
The coronavirus is NOT a joke, it is serious, it IS lethal, and why the hell are we all trying to re-open everything while we lack the vaccines and treatments to reduce the risks of COVID??? /headdesk

  2. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    A shame,

At least he got in a lot of quality time with players when he did.

  3. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

They cannot make him stop. It’s his own private time.

This is one of those rare times when many can exercise their authority……state and local governments, businesses, organizations….all in the valiant quest to preserve good health….This must come to an end soon…..

I’m quite sure his contract requires him to obey NFL rules……players, coaches & teams are virtually owned by the NFL.

The park-violating, home-invading quarterback vs America’s All Pro QB Jamie’s Winston…according to Joe Bucs Fan. Just to cheer you up…they will remind you that the season will probably be canceled. Have a great day.

The NFLPA is not the NFL. The NFLPA is the players association commonly referred to as “the union.”

Notice the edict is advisory. If a doctor who is paid for using players association fees is advising them not to practice together for their own health, what do you think the chances are of, say, a dozen getting together anyway to practice?

  8. Joe Says:

The park-violating, home-invading quarterback vs America’s All Pro QB Jamie’s Winston…according to Joe Bucs Fan.

Actually, that’s according to Tampa mayor Jane Castor, a former Tampa police chief.

  9. gp Says:

Hey, maybe they can buy a pack of smokes and pass them around before their ‘practice’ “Lets all be rebels!”

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Wondering If there is gonna be some rescheduling of practices next year. Especially the rookies. Should cut down PS to two games forever.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

    *”Especially the rookies”

Maybe even all players still under contract.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

*”still under ROOKIE contract”. Sorry it’s hard to keep my head up.

  13. Steven007 Says:

Not trying to get ahead of ourselves here, but the likelihood of a shortened or even non-existent college season makes next year’s draft almost certainly one of the oddest ones ever, even eclipsing this year’s. How to evaluate players when they’re not playing? This will likely again push the big college program players to the forefront and make it harder for small school prospects to make an impact.

  14. David Says:

    PAUL

Testing has increased so the number of cases has risen. The number of positive tests out of all those tested is still only 4%.

Worldwide over 50% of all people had it or over it. Out of those that still have it 98% are mild.

If you aren’t elderly, obese and diabetic, highly susceptible for other medical reasons, or sick……
Life should go on with some precaution. If you are those things you need to take extra precautions and/or stay home.

We can’t sit around waiting for a vaccine. We have never made a vaccine that eradicates a coronavirus. It’s never happened. That doesn’t mean we won’t, but it’s not happening this year.

  15. SB Says:

This is actually stupid. This virus IS NOT GOING AWAY! we might as well live our normal lives and let it play out.

  16. StonedBuc Says:

There isn’t more cases there is just more testing being done.

  17. Dom Says:

I’m a daily reader here and never comment but I got to say something. Where are you getting those numbers David?

There have been 8.72M confirmed total cases worldwide. How is that even close to 50% of all people when there are over 7 billion? Also where are you getting the 98% mild number when the mortality rate alone is 5.2% worldwide. 461K deaths divided by 8.72M equals 5.2%. Also, fun fact, the United States mortality rate is slightly higher than that at 5.3%.

Please do some actual research before you spout off nonsense. It’s ignorance like this that explains why other countries have seen a significant decrease in cases but not the United States. Smh only in America. What a mess.

  18. K2 Says:

…..America’s All Pro QB Jamie’s Winston

“Actually, that’s according to Tampa mayor Jane Castor, a former Tampa police chief.”

I didn’t realize that the mayor and the chief of police were such strong supports of Jameis…but I like him as well.

  19. mark2001 Says:

SB.. the strategy is to slow the spread so it doesn’t overload our hospitals and health care system. So it doesn’t cause more shutdowns and shortages. And if we can slow it down enough, we can reduce the carnage before we have a vaccine. How would you feel if there was no room in an ICU for you…that your family had to provide your care because there weren’t enough HC workers, or they couldn’t get the equipment necessary to save your life? Or your childs, your parents, or spouse? That is the outcome we are trying to avert by being as careful as possible…to give us more time for the proven vaccine and treatments.

  20. mark2001 Says:

A Pinellas Commissioner said we were down to less than 15% open ICU beds yesterday. That was about 59 beds. 75% of the beds in the entire state are occupied, as of Yesterday. I could give you the link, but let me just say WGCU PBS for Southwestern Florida. So… what do you do if we have a spike of cases and no beds? Seal off other wings? And how effective will that be? And what if a person has a heart attack and needs to go to ICU? We have to be responsible and slow this thing down…for the sake of all of us.

  21. mark2001 Says:

And if that isn’t clear enough, what if your kid has an accident, or a loved one a car accident? And needs to go to ICU? Think…for them…for your neighbor…for everyone… listen to the CDC and HC recommendations.

  22. ClodHopper Says:

Screw the NFLPA. Most of these workouts are less than 10 people and outside. That’s perfectly within the guidelines.

  23. SB Says:

    @Mark
No worries mate we just see it differently about the origins and purpose of the disease. I believe it is a form of ‘natural selection’. IMO it is NOT going away. And I don’t believe there will ever a vaccine. It is going to run it’s course whether we like it or not. The country cannot be shut down anymore. It is only going go get worse. JMO.

  24. mark2001 Says:

So you would say the plague that killed 40% of European was also a matter of “natural selection”? I don’t think so.

I don’t think it is going away…but with a good vaccine and the equivalent of a tamaflu, and better treatments, it wouldn’t be so lethal. Until that, it is best to use as many preventative measures as possible. And I don’t think the country will shut down again,.. but I can say protective measures being required. And as I have O blood, I guess you would say nature has blessed me. But I still care about others.

  25. SB Says:

God has already blessed me too as my Wife, Son and Myself have already had it and are no longer contagious. I still wear masks even though I hate em. I just think this is a bit more evil and unstoppable than you and most others think. It is kind of like a Much smaller version of the Great Flood if you will.

  26. SB Says:

Also, I live in a very small town that receives over 2.000,000 tourists a year.
Not a doubt in my mind that Everyone that lives in this town will be exposed by the end of the year

Thanks for bringing a little science to this blog…realizing that we now have a significant % of Americans who do not believe in science and like to sport their own “alternative facts”.

I agree with all you’ve posted save perhaps about the vaccine. Not that I totally disagree but IMHO a “cure” or at minimum a therapeutic treatment will be better than a vaccine anyway…no vaxxers…no worrying about a failure rate…and it appears “treatments” are on the way. There is no cure or vaccine for AIDS but there are now a couple of prescriptions that suppress the HIV eliminating AIDS. I see something like that for Covid at minimum.

That recent success with the cheap steroids is pretty exciting…25-33% success rate already.

The only way I see a football season is if one of these “cures” “treatments” comes on the market before Labor Day. Vaccines may be a longer way off but a treatment could be the better solution anyway.

Actually what it was is a comment on your slanted way of describing both Winston and Brady. You could be exactly as factual by saying “6 time Super Bowl Champion” for TB and “rape lawsuit losing, multiple crime committing, NFL accused Uber driver Groping Interception Champion” Jameis Winston. You’re not a journalist when you describe two players with such obvious bias and slant. With all due respect, when you say things like that, you come off as a bitter internet troll. Why don’t you show some respect.

  33. SB Says:

St. Pete…I’m happy about dexamethasone…it does seem to reduce some of the worst effects of the virus for many…I hope the testing proves a viable treatment.

And there may very well be some other drugs that may help in treatment. Unfortunately, Hydroxychloroquine isn’t one of them.

Personally, I am an optimist and think a vaccine will be developed. Last thing I heard, over 140 potential vaccines now in development. And hope we will find one that is efficacious. Time will tell.

I also respect your takes and I’m sorry if you took that “alternative facts” to mean you. It wasn’t directed at you.

Opinions are fine…we all have them…if they are about something serious like the Covid then perhaps we should make sure folks know it’s just our opinion. I try to separate my posts like that…not always successful I’m sure.

Certainly respect your opinion SB and in honesty I do not recall reading your Covid posts. I haven’t noticed you being political one way or the other. There are 2 or 3 and it’s clear who they are expressing opinions as facts and facts without any substantiation.

I hate to post anything as a fact about Covid because we are still learning so much each day. I’d rather post what scientific knowledge is available that is up to date…and even the scientists admit we are still LEARNING.

  38. SB Says:

Thank you SPBF. I am apolitical. My time in the service did that to me with the orders we were given and what I saw. I haven’t voted since I was 20.

I am sorry but the numbers do not show any comparison to the 1918 spanish flu epidemic. The CDC just said recently that 99.6 percent of people recover. The fatality rate is between .1 and .8 percent depending on which study you read. There has never been a vaccine for a corona virus because they change and adapt constantly. It is as if no one in the media will admit they made a mistake as to the severity and keep pushing fear.

  46. m0j0 Says:

Read this interesting article. Seems Corona Virus may be morphing into something less lethal.

  47. mark2001 Says:

Anonymous… Vaccine isn’t out of the question. About 142 potential vaccines are in development, and I’m pretty certain that companies aren’t spending billions for a problem that is unsolvable. Regarding the flu In 1918…we knew very little about viruses, the early research really beginning in the 1920’s, and medical treatment was much less sophisticated. I give credit for the mortality rate to the Doctors and Scientists that are making breakthroughs on a daily basis.

  48. mark2001 Says:

mOjO… read it…that was an observation in Italy, but they were talking about cases going down. They certainly aren’t here.
