Bedtime With Brady

May 20th, 2020

Pillow talk with Bucs new QB.

So, Bucs center Ryan Jensen has experienced talking with Tom Brady in bed.

When the Bucs signed Brady, who was about to violate a Tampa city park and waltz into a perfect stranger’s house without ringing the doorbell, Jensen got a call from Brady. While Jensen was in bed.

Jensen appeared on a pod called “Out of Nowhere” hosted by former NFL running back Danny Woodhead and former NFL guard Matt Slauson.

The first half of the show seemed to be Jensen and Woodhead trading notes on changing diapers and how to best clean up when their little boys are wearing boxers and forget to use the bathroom.

(Yeah, riveting stuff. See what Joe tolerates to dig up Bucs info?)

In the second half of the pod it got good and Jensen, who was with Brady and other Bucs working out at Berkeley Prep High School when they were caught by paparazzi yesterday, told of when he first spoke with Brady.

It was roughly a week after Brady signed and subsequently moved into Derek Jeter’s house. Jensen got a call at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time (Jensen lives in Colorado in the offseason). The next call Jensen fielded would get, um, more unique.

“Tom FaceTimed me about a week after he signed and settled in,” Jensen said. “I wasn’t really expecting a FaceTime call. Jason Licht, our GM texted me about 7:30 Colorado time and said, ‘Hey, are you awake? Hey, Tom is about to call you.’ Alright. Cool, whatever.

“And I’m expecting a phone call and all of a sudden, it’s a FaceTime. Like, ‘Sh!t, that’s Tom Brady!'”

Upon Woodhead asking Jensen about what he was wearing while laying in bed FaceTiming with Brady, Jensen said he was not topless and that Brady didn’t see any chest hair.

“I looked professional,” Jensen said. “Me and Tom, we had a great conversation. We talked about life at first. Where he should live in Tampa.”

Jensen stated that Jeter’s house is within walking distance of where Jensen lives.

“Little bit different houses,” Jensen joked.

The way Jensen described their conversation it seemed Brady had done research on him.

“He told me he enjoys how I play the game,” Jensen said.

The conversation turned more appropriate for a guy laying in bed as Brady explained to Jensen how he likes towels folded in the back of a center’s pants so he can wipe the sweat off his hands. Even Jensen admitted it was creepy hearing Brady discuss how he folds a towel into the back of a center’s pants.

It sure does seem like Brady and Jensen hit it off pretty well.

I have never been more excited about a season, not even the 2003 Superbowl defending champion season. Maybe because we had been having regular playoff appearances during that timeframe.

After so,many years of misery, this major turn around is just awesome and I hope my DVR has enough space to record all the games.

they won’t be fully bonded until brady gets a handful of sweaty swamp azz all over his pristinely toweled hands in the florida summer heat…

Thank you. Whenever a reader tips off Joe to a story, Joe likes to at least acknowledge the guy. If Joe knew his social media handle he would have linked it.

Joe had no clue Danny Woodhead even had a pod until knucknbuc mentioned it to Joe. More to come in the following days from that pod.

If you were TB12 obviously you want to have a great relationship with your center. These two guys are the only offensive guys who get to touch it virtually every play. They are a mini team within the team.

What I’d love to know is if there has been any conversation about ‘protecting’ TB12 from any cheap shots. The NFL refs certainly have treated Brady like he made or porcelain…used to make me angry..now that TB is on our team I’m happy to have the Zebras come with him as well.

But what if a flag is not enough? What if someone needs to send a “message”
Gotta believe Ryan Jensen will be first man up in that encounter. Wonder if Brady saw this style on video and thought..great I have an enforcer?

Who else on our OL is nasty? Not a putdown just a serious question. I certainly respect Marpet’s physicality but he’s not a mean guy…Cappa is obviously very tough playing through a broken arm…but is he mean? Donavan physically gifted but a nice guy…I do not know about Wirfs. Great skills but the tackle with the reputation for meaness was Bechton although quite a few tackles this year were nasty. We’ll find out soon enough from Wirfs.

But…if there is any pushing…shoving..wresting or blows…my money is on Jensen to be in the middle of it. I like this guy more each year.
