Shaq Drops A Hint

January 24th, 2020

Weather man.

On Tuesday from Orlando where Pro Bowl practices are held this week, free agent sackmeister Shaq Barrett said he’s planning on being with the Bucs this fall.

Of course, money talks. And Shaq, unless he is franchised, is due for a massive payday. That happens when you get 14 sacks more than your previous season-best.

How big of a star has Shaq become? Man, at Pro Bowl practice, Shaq is mobbed by fans and media at every step. He’s one of the more popular guys there. Fans howl his name and want his autograph — on just about anything.

Kids stare at him in disbelief. Media from all corners of the republic follow him like little puppies chasing their mom in the back yard for more milk.

Such was the case yesterday after practice. One reporter from Buffalo was working on a story about why it is so hard for the Bills to sign free agents. The underlying theme of the story is players don’t like the bitter cold of upper New York. So when the reporter was asking Shaq for background of the reputation of Buffalo and what NFL players think of the region as a home, of course, the prospect of Shaq signing with the Bills came up.

In response, Shaq seemed to hint he wants to stay with the Bucs.

“That’s not a top choice,” Shaq said of Buffalo as a free agent destination. “I like the sunshine and the weather.”

So it sure smells as if unless the Bucs really lowball Shaq and his agent, oily Drew Rosenhaus, Shaq will return. Just like Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said.

Yes he will ! We are not paying big money for a one year wonder. You don’t listen , shaq is not the top priority.

A five year contract with two guaranteed and a look at the contract in year three. He won’t get 19.5 sacks next year, but he will reach double digits.

Sign him and try the franchise tag on Jameis. If that fails, try it on Suh.

If it is the same as his Instagram stories, don’t read too much into it. He lives in South Florida, remember. Also he said in one of those videos, “There’s not much in Tampa — EXCEPT MONEY!”

“He won’t get 19.5 sacks next year, but he will reach double digits.”

Actually, Shaq had 20.5 in my book, remember BA threw that extra red flag in frustration after Barrett sacked the Arizona QB and the referees blew the call.

You’re right, next year if he’s still on this team, he won’t get 19.5, he may get 25. Especially if JPP is on the team still.

Honestly, this kid’s motor and personality is different from any other that has come before him. He not only has astonishing talent, but he has amazingly high work ethic and GRATITUDE!

He will NOT be “that guy” who cashed in and hits cruise control (like MeSean Jackson, for example). His GRATITUDE muscle will never deteriorate and I believe he will “leave it all on the field” his entire career. He has the opportunity to literally become the best to ever play the game (if he stays in this SYSTEM). He’s smart enough to know that.

He’s smart enough to play long ball.

Were I the GM, I’d sign him to a six-year, $100 million contract with $75 million guaranteed.

    Plus some major stretch-target incentives.

  12. ModHairKen Says:

Pay Shaq. Don’t play games. Sign Suh. Sign JPP.

  13. Adrnagy Says:

Where are those who said the dline would not play for jameis. ?

  14. SteveK Says:

Shaq Barrett, JPP, Suh, Nassib and resigning Godwin are all lore important designing Jameis.

Wake up and smell the turnovers, Adrnagy, 5 years- more turnovers than anyone. Turnover margin is right behind pints to winning games. Jameis ain’t winning games bc of turnovers.

  15. Allbuccedup Says:

Put Jameis last on the list, sign Shaq and what other defensive players we can JPP, Suh, and Nassib. If JPP wants too much draft his replacement.

  16. PSL Bob Says:

Why do we keep talking about this? Pay the man and STFU! We’ve needed an edge rusher. We now have an edge rusher. We’re going to keep the edge rusher. End of story!

    1 year wonder?…..

he was a UDFA that was a rotational player behind 2 1st round picks von miller and shane ray…..

in his first year as a full time starter he produced 19 1/2 sacks!!!!!

thats not a 1year wonder…..thats a guy that put in the work and took advantage of his opportunity…..

folks that call shaq a 1year wonder wouldnt know a great player if it slapped them in the face…..

    shaq is a priority!!!!!!!

JW is more of a 1year wonder(AKA BUST) than SHAQ!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

    adrnagy

apparently you dont listen or read!!!!!!!

straight from JBF arians talkling about shaq: “He ain’t goin’ anywhere,” Arians said twice.

also straight from JBF talking about JW:“With another quarterback? Oh yeah. We can win with this one. We can definitely win with another one too because we’re going to have a defense,” Arians replied.

defense is a priority dumb@$$!!!!!!!…SHAQ is the top priority!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    SteveK Says:
“Shaq Barrett, JPP, Suh, Nassib and re-signing Godwin are all more important re-signing Jameis.”

    That’s a bit of a stretch.

    More like:
    1) Shaq Barrett
    2) JPP (although I doubt he wants to)
    3) Jameis Winston
    4) Nassib
    5) Suh (although his leadership is important, a decent run stuffing DT is easy to find)

Godwin should not even be on the list. He has another year on his contract and why should the Bucs spend money now instead of later? They can save a good $12-$16 million by waiting until next year.

It doesn’t matter if he is making less than other WRs of his skill level…he knew that would be the case went he entered the draft and when he signed the deal.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

JPP was in line to make just over $10 million in 2019, and the Bucs had to convince him to reduce it to $7,750,000.

They are not going to offer him $10+ million again when they didn’t feel he was worth it before…so he will be leaving.

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    813bucboi Says:
“With another quarterback? Oh yeah. We can win with this one.”

That is no condemnation of Jameis. The media is making such a big deal of that.

What was Arians supposed to say? “No, we can’t win without Jameis.”?

  22. 813bucboi Says:

    bonzai

    yes it is…..

BA couldve said the same thing he said about shaq….which was:
    “He ain’t goin’ anywhere,”

so why didnt he?….both are FAs?…..there no “leverage” given or taken…

because in BAs words: We can definitely win with another one too because we’re going to have a defense,”

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  23. 813bucboi Says:

They are not going to offer him $10+ million again when they didn’t feel he was worth it before…so he will be leaving.

he proved his worth….shaq was in a drought and the secondary was getting torched…..JPP returned, got in shape and the defense took off…..

they’ll offer him 10+mil(2years 24mil) because he proved he’s healthy, a leader and productive after hs car injury….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  24. firethecannons Says:

Boom Shaq a lacka and JPP both need to be resigned

need to sign Nassib and his clone Nelson from last years draft to learn

we need to go o-line in the draft and running back and future QB
#1 Mekhi Becton or Javon Kinlaw or trade down if possible
#2 Jacob Eason (will need to franchise JW)
#3 O-line or safety or running back

  25. Colorado Says:

Shaq Barrett, Pride of Colorado State!
