Shaq Barrett Talks Contract: I’m Planning On Tampa (Audio)

January 22nd, 2020

Shaq Barrett with a young fan at Pro Bowl practice today

The Bucs’ 19 1/2-sack man, Shaq Barrett, soaked up his first taste of Pro Bowl glory this morning at Disney World.

And yes, he talked money.

Shaq said he wants to be in Tampa with the Bucs in 2020. Shaq also wants a fat deal to take care of his children’s children.

And Shaq feels good about a contract getting done with the Bucs, though he acknowledged he doesn’t think much has happened yet on that front other than his agent, oily Drew Rosenhaus, getting positive feedback from Tampa Bay coaches about their desire to have Shaq back at One Buc Palace in March.

Hear Shaq’s post-practice comments about his contract in the compilation Joe edited above.

Agree with what’s the buc and I want even more.

I want Nassib, Gholston, Minter as well.

  6. Defense Rules Says:

StPete … Good call on re-signing Nassib & Minter, as well as keeping Gholston. I’d add re-signing two others on the defensive side also as depth players: Andrew Adams & Ryan Smith. Both contributed reasonably well as depth players this past year … Adams started 11 games at Safety for us, while Smith was a very solid S/Ts contributor.

Two guys on the DLine who didn’t really get all that much action but who are now UFAs were Beau Allen & Rakeem Nunez-Roches. I’d draft a DT to replace one of them, then sign a veteran DT to replace the other. Together they made $4.7 mil so that should buy some decent replacements.

He does not seem the type that will have 1 great season and then “retire in Tampa” like so many other free agents seems to do. Swaggy Baker, Michael Johnson, Alterraun Verner, Derrell Revis, Albert Haynesworth, etc…, etc…, etc…

Shaq is not “that guy”… he works is butt off and gives maximum effort! Pay the man!!

Is there anyone in Bucsdom that doesn’t think we need to bring Shaq back? Joe’s been harping forever, and I agree, we need an edge rusher. We have one. Sign the man and let’s get on to the next peg.

I think it’s crazy to open the vault door for one great season. Sorry for all you who want to pay the man but I need to see more than just a 1 season hit wonder.
