The Comeback

December 8th, 2019

“Mr. Excitement.”

Not too long ago, before the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway became known as the Den of Depression, the Colts soiled the turf with a comeback for the ages, beating the Bucs on Monday Night Football.

The Bucs, then the defending Super Bowl champs, had several injuries to key players and the team was never the same again.

Could that be the opposite result today? Was this a franchise corner-turning game?

The Bucs played sloppy football in the first half. The defense struggled and while Mr. Excitement, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was moving the ball at will, he did throw two picks, one of them really ugly on his first throw of the game. Toss in a bad fumble by Dare Ogunbowale, and the Colts built a 27-21 halftime lead.

With Jameis on the bench with a cracked thumb to start the second half and Mike Evans out for the game with a bad hamstring, and Donovan Smith hobbling heavily with what appeared to be a bum right knee, it looked dark for the Bucs.

But that’s why the Bucs have Jameis.

Despite his bum thumb, Jameis rose from the dead and was red hot in the second half. He threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns and finished with 456 yards passing and four total touchdowns to lead the Bucs in a crazy comeback in a wild game.

And despite the jubilation, Joe is convinced there are still people hollering about Jameis’ two first-half picks. Fans were calling for Jameis to wear a crown of thorns and drag about a block of wood, never mind if not for Jameis this would be another loss.

After watching Jameis lead the Bucs to the promised land today when most any team would have thrown in the towel, the Bucs would be out of their minds to get rid of this guy.

Joe is also confident only the demented and twisted minds of the devout Jameis haters would rather have a guy who threw for no picks and maybe 120 yards and no touchdowns after watching Jameis bail the Bucs out today.

Andy Dalton? Joe’s @ss!

    ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!!

My apologizes to those who were not entertained. I’ll be more sensitive and try to do better in the future.

  2. LongSeason Says:

Um…. Okay. Jameis pulled it out. But you know, I’m getting to old for this $—!

Jameis. I think we would love it if you were a little less dramatic. Imma go pass out now.

  3. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Whew When winston doesn’t get resigned Joe is going to spend all offseason complaining about it. Also you talk about how much jameis won us the game Joe II but what about Shaq, Lavonte, Devin, Justin Watson stepping up, Smith playing visibly hurt, JPP on the 4th down stop. Winston got us into such a hole in the first place because of the multiple interceptions and pick 6.

  4. runnerdoc Says:

The Bucs can’t and won’t get rid of a man with his ceiling, both as a passer and as a competitor. They’re gonna roll the dice, keep working on the secondary, try to keep the lines together, and get to work on the turnovers during the off months. In probability terms, that’s easily the Bucs best chance to reach the play offs next year.

    Arians knows it.

  5. Zzbuc Says:

Joe you are beyond ridiculous with your Dalton argument.
This is his 5 year Sir!!!!
You will not win a lot with that many turn overs ,you know that I know that and everybody knows that.
    I don’t give a rats asssss if he throws 500 yards……
Look at his freeking record……. Do not look at just the side you want look at the whole picture!!!!
You look like a teenager fan!!!!

  6. Bucsfan77 Says:

For the last few seasons everyone has bytched that the only stat that matters is W or L. Yes turnovers can kill you but a W is a W. I’ll take 5 turn overs every game as long as it results in a W. A ugly won is always better than a pretty lose. And the biggest Stat for this season is WE ARE NOT IN LAST PLACE OF OUR DIVISION.

  7. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Exactly Rod!

Is the point of watching football not to be entertained?

Is there another team’s punter who is more bored every Sunday?

No team is a roller coaster like the Bucs. Must see TV.

  8. DB55 Says:

    5 total TDs

Perriman, Evans, Watson and Brate plus the rushing TD

  9. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Yeah Joe, he bailed the Bucs out of his multiple interceptions and pick 6. Sadly, he will be re signed out of fear by gutless the front office.

  10. JimmyJack Says:

It did look dark and it felt dark too. We have saw many Buc teams have no ability to overcome adversity……..In the Colts lone TD drive in the 2nd half it kinda looked like the same ol Bucs……I mean our defense had a major letdown there and they basically scared at will.

But let’s not forget what the defense did after that. They took control of that game. They made the comeback possible. And a credit to Winston to deliver. He needed every one of them yards we got today.

In the end I can barely believe I was very confident the defense closed it out for us!!!! This defense has given me real confidence. These guys can play. Bowles is truely a miracle worker.Suh is my MVP today.

  11. Pa bucs fan Says:

Sign the man. He is the best we had and he will continue to get better. He is still only 25 years old. He has another 10+ years. Once we get other parts of the team atleast in manageable potions like run game, oline, and secondary we are golden for years to come.

Sign Jameis, sign jpp, tag/sign barret,

Let barber go, figure out what to do with suh and nassib.

    Draft 2 oline,1rb,1dl,1db

  12. DB55 Says:

if not for Jameis this would be another loss.
    ———
If not for Jamel Dean this would be another loss.

  13. unbelievable Says:

He had 5 total TDs J0e.

  14. Bucsace Says:

Jameis is eating them W’s………and them Picks

  15. SteveK Says:

Can’t pay top dollar for the turnovers. No playoffs that way.

  16. VA Tom Says:

You gotta consider win/loss ratio at some point. At some point you’ve gotta consider the record. Right? Right? Oh, he has potential? I’ve voted for “sign him to a multi year contract” in all the polls, but I KNOW it’s not the right decision. But at some point you’ve GOT to consider the record…right? What’s Jameis’s record?

  17. nano107 Says:

This guy has cojones simple as that

  18. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Jameis will be getting paid by the Bucs, LEGO!!!

When this defense plays decently we can win with Jameis all day. Yes he turns it over but not many QBs can score like he can either.

He doesn’t even need elite WR, especially when teams play zone, he picks then apart! When teams play man we get no separation. No Mike Evans today, no problem. People forget Jameis early years his best receiver after Mike were Brate, Hump, and Russell Sheppard.

    Go BUCS!!

  19. JimmyJack Says:

PA…..The secondary was…..and has been…..much much better today then you give credit for. They made a ton of plays today……And our backs were against the wall most of the game because of the turnovers.

Was a very gritty performance today by the secondary and will surely get overlooked I’m guessing.

  20. wantstastayabuc Says:

    Click.

The QB has no clothes. This won’t cut it if we want to go beyond mediocrity.

Are you not entertained? Will you not be entertained watching other teams in the playoffs? You’d better be because we won’t sniff playoffs giving so many other teams short fields and pick 6’s.

I know, “but look at the yards”.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Alaskan – Exactly! People act like we have the 2002 defense and we can win 16-3 every week if there’s not a turnover. That’s not the case. If Winston isn’t out there as the gunslinger we’re losing 27-6 every week.

Bucs offense #3 in scoring (at the moment)
Bucs defense #31 in scoring defense

The Bucs defense is in fact what all the Winston haters think Winston is. The defense makes a few highlight plays, yet gives up tons of bad plays. Today, the defense finally held on – which is great – and they’ve been improving, which is what you want at this point. However if the defense was really good, then sure, you can’t have the T/Os – but we know in the only stretch of Winston’s career where he had a good defense in late 2016, that Winston can be a game manger. But you can’t do that when you’ve got one of the worst defenses in football? He’s a gunslinger – you take the good and the bad – and Arians told us from the beginning, no risk it, no biscuit.

Also how many times did I watch Favre turn the ball over 3 or 4 times a game against those great Bucs defenses and somehow still be in it with 2 mins to go. The difference was those Packers teams had one of the best defenses in football – people forget that – but the defense was almost always top 10. Although, in fairness, they probably padded their stats getting to play that Mike Shula offense twice a year.

  22. Bosch Says:

Joe, please do not return to this practice of posting this tasteless photoshopped depiction of Jameis as our lord and savior. I think that if you asked Jameis he would tell you he preferred that you do not depict him this way. Some things are sacred.

  23. Jean Lafitte Says:

This is an unfair rant at fans who have seen enough. Snake oil Salesman.

  24. Wesley Says:

    Can’t ignore all the int’s.

  25. Mort Says:

Sign this man long term. Modern era version of Brett Favre. Yeah he will throw picks, but he makes incredible, ELITE plays too.

  26. rrsrq Says:

Even with the INTs, especially early, still figures Bucs would be in the game, offense can be great. The only consistent thing is Jameis inconsistency and BL running the ball up the middle. But we got the weapons, however when ME went out there was concern.

  27. Pa bucs fan Says:

Lol haters still flocking in. People being fake offended by everything is asinine to. Grow up

  28. TheBucsAnthem Says:

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PIC EVER!!!!!! ^^^^^^

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I wouldn’t mind keeping Jameis……but he’s like buying a used sports car that has a tendency to break down a lot….
We simply must pay him only what he’s worth……let him test the market and beat the market’s offer if necessary. Or, offer him a deal that he could but won’t refuse…..
We need some money for other players to build a team around him.

  30. Cgmaster27 Says:

@joe This had me laughing so hard. The amount of triggered haters will surely increase those numbers for you this week. Great picture. As for jameis, yes this man is mr. Excitement for sure.

  31. D-Rome Says:

    6-7 is the promised land?

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Lets look at the 3 INTs today…

    #1 – Bad read, 100% on Jameis.

#2 – To me, only seeing the TV angle, it looked like just a good defensive play. It wasn’t a bad read, it wasn’t a poorly thrown ball (yes it was slightly underthrown but nothing that doesn’t happen to everyone) the LB just made a great play. That happens – the defense gets a check too. I could be swayed with a different angle, if it was more flat than it appeared.

#3 – Will the stupid receivers stop knocking the ball into the air? The first memory I have of playing football, like the very first thing I remember a coach saying is that if you knock the ball into the air, you’re benched. Was the ball high? Yes. Did the WR get his hands on the ball? Yes. How many times have I heard if you can get your hands on the ball, you’re supposed to catch it – and if you can’t catch it, you NEVER knock it into the air. What is this, 3 of the last 4 games there’s been a receiver knocking the ball into the air for an INT. I say this is like 50% on Jameis for throwing to high and 50% on the stupid receiver for knocking it up.

That’s 1.5 INTs on Winston by my count – on a day where he put up 38 points.

Also, yes, I’m a Winston homer – but the difference between me and the haters is that I know what I am and I’m OK with people talking specifics – but they never do. It’s like game one of the year, I pointed out the INTs on Winston were not on him, the receivers on the play were not where they were supposed to be, I know that from watching the all-22 footage. I said that here, was of course attacked by the same dullards as always, then later that day Arians comes out and explains exactly why the INTs weren’t on Winston, that the receivers were not where they were supposed to be. Then what happens? The Winston haters just double down and say Arians is liar.

  33. Buc believer Says:

Joe if you EVER EVER make fun of The Lord again I will NEVER darken this doorstep again! I know you as a non- believer might not believe it but you have offended a TON of people. Use some of the brain the God gave you.

  34. Hamsadwitchtime Says:

Sign him.! Work on Oline RB And we are winning a lot of games. Game manager like a lot of u losers want would get rolled…

  35. Hamsadwitchtime Says:

    Lighten up @believer

  36. Pa bucs fan Says:

    Rome

Progress from a dismal last few years with the chance to finish 500 or winning with a first year coaching staff and a rookie oc. I would say there is reason to be hopeful.

Also just being a somewhat decent fan will do that to. But hey you guys can continue to root vs ur team, pray for ur qb to fail. Etc etc. Just u so u can say told u so. Fyi that’s not how fans act. Quit being fake or go actually root for the team u like.

  37. Jean Lafitte Says:

I hope BA uses his real football wisdom here and really thinks this Jameis issue over well. Without Jason Licht in his ear. He must ask himself out of all the years he’s been around QB’s can there be someone else available he can mold and have complete faith in. Or is Winston with his poor completion percentage and his penchant for turnovers something he wants to hitch his wagon too? Do you give Winston a chance to define your Buc career or do you mold another QB in your image?

  38. Pa bucs fan Says:

Lol at the people complaining about the picture. Grow up. He offended no one other than the Jameis haters that are using it as a toll to be offended. Typical liberal nonsense.

  39. wantstastayabuc Says:

    Munch,
Specific:The rules of the NFL favor the offense. You know this. This equals 1 interception.

Specific: Winston threw behind the receiver. You can’t give him credit for all of the saves that the receivers make given his poor placement bt then not give him credit for lost poor passes.

Scoring defense is tough when your QB is the worst in the league at protecting the ball (specific).

    Winston must go,

  40. tmaxcon Says:

Jameis is Tampa Bay’s true and only savior and hope for hapiness!

  41. geno711 Says:

There are no new thoughts on this site.

All your articles miss Leftwich’s great play designs all day long.

Buc’s receivers were wide open all day. Even on the 1st pass of the day, Perriman and Godwin were open.

On the 2nd series on 2nd and 7, Evans was wide open past all defenders.

Were there even 5-6 plays where there was not a guy open in the passing game?

Just beautiful by the offense and their play caller.

  42. Anonymous Says:

Glad we won. But is there a harder working santa clause in the NFL?

  43. DooshLaRue Says:

Stick it in your azz Munch.

    You fair weather Sissy

  44. tmaxcon Says:

Rumor has it tebow is switching from jesus to Jameis….

  45. Rod Munch Says:

Pa bucs – It’s pretty amazing that in this demographic, which you assume is mostly 30+ year old male sports fans, that you’d have people pulling the fake offended millennial bit where they think they’re entitled to tell people what they’re allowed to say and not say, and even telling the people who run the site what images they’re allowed to use. It’s an insane world.

  46. Pugs&Bucs Says:

If the Bucs lost today all you would be hearing about is his INTs. And the Jameis haters would purposely ignore:
‼️ How many uncontested long passes/TDS?
‼️ A 60 yard PI when the game was in doubt?
‼️ ZERO. POINT. ZERO. running game?

  47. Stevebobucsfan Says:

If we can just get Jameis to cut down on trying to force the ball and Making so many bad throws, it sure look like we building a hell of a team in Tampa. All QB make bad throws but just cut down on them and I see the Bucs becoming a playoff team for a few years especially with a young defense starting mesh and play well

  48. WillieG Says:

If I set fire to Joe Bucs headquarters and then put the fire out, would the Joes hale me as a hero? Or would they be smart enough to realize that if I set the fire, I’m no damn hero?

If JW digs a hole for the team, would the Joes hale JW as a hero for digging them out of said hole? Apparently, and pathetically, yes.

    Ridiculous.

  49. Dom>Licht Says:

JOE If the turn over machine is so Entertaining why is the stadium empty? NFL needs to bring back the black out rule!

  50. tmaxcon Says:

    Dom>Licht

Tampa’s not a sports town. Transient colostomy bag collection point not a sports town….

  51. Alanbucsfan Says:

The Bucs should sign Tebow to be Jameis’ backup…
    That would be Entertaining!

  52. Easy Says:

This is the shrine I refer to in high cholesterol Joes house

  53. Bucnut2 Says:

Turnovers are the #1 determinant of wining in the NFL. Why some of you are defending this a$$clown is beyond responsible. The sane fans among us believe you have delusions beyond the normal fan base,

  54. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

1st of all it is only a painting of a jesus not the Jesus. 2nd He did not have light skin, blondish hair or blue eyes He would have had darker skin and black hair. According to the Word he wasn’t so “handsome” as depicted so don’t be so sensitive about it.

Jameis might have put us in a bind with the picks but he also not only kept us in the game when the defense couldn’t stop 75 yard td drives he won us the game with his td passes in the 2nd half. How many 3rd and long did he complete? We were great on 3rd down today. This was a great team win that was still won by Winstons arm. This game proved that the other receivers have to be involved in this offdnse because they all balled out todsy!

  55. ALBucsFan Says:

I know we want a better draft pick but I think it’s more important to change the culture. This team needs to keep winning to get the confidence for next year. Sign Winston to multi year and franchise Barrett. Go Bucs!

  56. Tbbucs3 Says:

    BucNut2

Where did you get that totally made up stat?

So you’d rather have Tyrod Taylor who doesn’t throw any ints but only throws for 150 a game and 1 TD?

  57. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

No turnovers are not the #1 determining factor. Your offense scoring more than the other offense and your defense stopping them from scoring. Turnovers can determine things but good teams can overcome them. It’s funny how people with agendas make things up to make themselves look smart to the bacl up their agenda to the masses.

  58. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah it’s just disrespectful. Simple as that. And it’s purposefully hurtfully too. I doubt you’re that unaware.

  59. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, I’m offended by Jay Miss’s play every week. And that’s not “fake news.” He’s the most inconsistent QB in the history of the sport. Certainly he make some great plays, but the mistakes are too egregious.

  60. TampaTown Says:

Great day at the Stadium today. Everyone waited a long time in the stands as Jameis was being interviewed by multiple outlets. As he ran toward the tunnel, the last player off the field, everyone was cheering and chanting Jameis! Jameis! It was awesome and something you would never see or know about watching the game at home.

  61. Bobby M. Says:

Name the last legit QB that their respective team delayed giving an extension?

It’s that simple folks…..the NFL is starving for avg QB play…Yet we are in no hurry to lock down Winston with all his glorious stats? Those that understand the game know you can’t win with him without a back breaking budget. Tampa isn’t that market, the Glazers aren’t those owners.

  62. orlbucfan Says:

They aren’t called the Cardiac Bucs for nuthin’! I’ll take a win even if it is ugly. Bucs beat the refs, too. I like it,

  63. geno711 Says:

@bucnut good to see you come back out from your bridge. Hows your boy matiota playing to….. oops never mind. Still on the bench.

  66. Anonymous Says:

Dumbest line ever written by a Joe (and there have been plenty: “After watching Jameis lead the Bucs to the promised land today when most any team would have thrown in the towel, the Bucs would be out of their minds to get rid of this guy.”

Winston gave away 14 points early. Again. Loser. The best this team will ever be with Winston is 9-7. the D saved him again today. Winston did not save anyone. In fact, he could have put the game away and put it in the hands of the D in the 4th, but he threw another pick.

  67. D-Rome Says:

    Precisely Bobby M.

If the Bucs believed in him and believed he is the quarterback of the future they would have extended him already.

  68. Stanglassman Says:

Turnovers are the #1 determinant of wining in the NFL.

Not today it wasn’t arse clown

If your stat was correct they’d just award the Lombardi to qb with the least amount of interceptions and disregard those silly scoreboards and points…..

  70. Coburn Says:

Just what I was afraid. Guy is a loser when we are in the hunt… basically all but out of the race and he barely manages to beat 3 crappy teams… with the defense helping keep us in them despite big mistakes by him and suddenly he’s the man. Same as every year.. plays well or at least makes up for his bad mistakes in meaningless games against crappy teams.. if colts actually wanted the win that bad we don’t come from behind like that.

  71. Coburn Says:

Seems like fools gold to me

  72. Dapostman Says:

3 drives of 75+ yards for TD’s plus 2 drives of 60+ yards for TD’s. The offense did their part.

The defense was bad today. Multiple long pass plays allowed + DPI. They had minimal impact plays. 1 FR and 1 sack. They gave up 2 nearly 50 yard drives for TD’s and a 75 yard drive for a TD. If they would have kept the Colts to FG tries the game wouldn’t have been close. Where the offense excelled scoring TD’s the defense failed in allowing TD’s.

  73. Rod Munch Says:

geno711 – In two years Winston will still be just 27 years ago and be in his 7th year and be way ahead of Favre in all offensive categories compared to where Favre was. With that said Favre is a HOF’er, what you hope with Winston is that he becomes that guy. But early on Favre and Winston are very similar QBs, except Favre had a top defense to bail him out. But Favre settled down as his career went along – for the most part – he still made “dumb” plays – and amazing plays and never quit.

Anywho, a better comparison for Winston is Carson Palmer. He was 34-years old in his first year under Arians and threw 22 INTs. But what did Palmer have? He had a top defense.

Meanwhile did you see David Carr end the game today? On 4th and goal, no time left, he just threw the ball out of bounds. He didn’t even attempt to make a play because he didn’t want to hurt his stats. Would Winston ever do that? No – and that’s what you guys hate about him.

  74. Anonymous Says:

Dapostman’s lips are locked into Winston’s zipper because he sure didn’t see three bad INTs and two other near picks that would have meant the game.

  75. July Joe Says:

He wasn’t called “Jameis Christ” when he was at FSU for no reason … he was the Seminoles Messiah … and is now the Bucs Messiah.

But Jameis loves the real Jesus and I don’t think he ever liked that nickname.

Regardless, GREAT ARTICLE JOE and a GREAT GAME today!

  76. 813bucboi Says:

    2years 50mi 3rd year option at 35mil

    GO BUCS

  77. Rod Munch Says:

813bucboi – I was thinking more like 5 years, $150-million, but in reality $25m guaranteed next year, then $30m in year two with $15m guaranteed, $30 in year three, $35 in year four and $30 in year five.

So in reality, total deal would be $45m guaranteed. That would be more than what he’d get as a 1-year franchise, so he might take the deal.

Pure speculation obviously, but I’d love that deal since the Bucs are mostly protected (only $15m out past next year) and Winston would be a good deal later in the deal. Winston, if he does take that Palmer leap I expect, he would still be making very good money, if not top money, but would benefit from the lack of state income tax. It’s the same pitch the Lightning make with guys.

For the Bucs, if Winston is back and bombs next year, then the 3rd year $15m won’t matter since there would be a full rebuild since you figure Arians would retire and the Bucs would be drafting someone highly.

  78. ElBajito43 Says:

And if all times to post this on CHRISTMAS 🎄???? Waow this is something I think we can do without honestly. TROLL

  79. Capt. Tim Says:

    Fooled again.
Jameis is always great, once the game is lost, or the season is over.

Hell, I dont know what to do with the guy. I have decided that the only way to grade him- is by wins and loses.
Beautiful stats dont mean sh*t. We are 6-7.
The Bucs have invested so heavily in the offense, that any NFL QB would love to run it.
What would Tom Brady do, with Our receivers, TEs, and O-line?

We started the day at 5-7. We have beaten bad teams .
We were eliminated from the playoffs, with a quarter of our games to go.

He looked Great today. But he also looked terrible.
Bucs face a very hard decision soon. No matter what they do, its gonna be the wrong decision for a great many fans.
    I wish them luck

  80. Capt. Tim Says:

We are beating teams, that are tanking for the draft.
But, thats the problem every year.
After the race is over, we look great beating teams that are on coast.

If a team wants to lose, we are happy to beat them.
Guess thats our “Promised land”. Feeding on the dead.
Should be “The Tampa Bay Vultures”

  81. DBS Says:

Real intelligent. Back to the Jameis Christ but you forget he is why they were in that damn losing position to begin with! It was the same defense had to make game saving plays. Win dispite Winston. Where have FSU fans seen and heard that before?

  82. TheDood Says:

I don’t believe in the Bronze Age Sky God but I’m sure some of your readers don’t like seeing their deity with a rapist’s face superimposed on it! 🙂

  85. Stanglassman Says:

Brady couldn’t and wouldn’t take the beating of a BA offensive system. Brady would get killed with our OL especially today. I guess when Jameis went 9-7 his 2nd year with none of those offensive weapons you got an excuse for that too?

  86. Buc1987 Says:

    Capt. Tim Says:

“We are beating teams, that are tanking for the draft.”

    Not true.

The Colts were not playing for the draft!

  87. Joey Joe Joe Jr. Says:

I honestly don’t know whether Joe is this myopic or just trying to provoke a reaction, but the Bucs won this in spite of Jameis. No decent coach on any level of football would tolerate a 1:1 turnover to td ratio. Turnovers are considered a statistical double negative—removing offensive production, and assisting opposing offensive production. In this case, Jameis’ three turnovers negated 21 potential Bucs points, and directly assisted 17 Indy points.

Please don’t even joke about or try comparing Jameis to Jesus this just makes me uncomfortable in so many ways. Last thing he or this team needs is being compared to something they could never come close to being

  89. July Joe Says:

The people Jesus was sent to save rejected, slandered and hated him too … people fear and hate what they don’t understand.

  90. July Joe Says:

A lot of the people that bear false witness (a sin in the Bible last time I checked) against Jameis (a guy who loves the real Jesus) probably consider themselves “good Christians” and are really uncomfortable thinking that the real Jesus hates the way they treat Jameis.

True. The Colts were an exception.
    July Joe.
I sure dont hate Jameis. Any mistakes he made off the field seem to be behind him. They are between him and God.

Its his play that concerns me. He seems to play his best- once the game/Season is lost.
He bounces from fantastic to horrible.
Im not sure we will ever be a winning team with him.

And this team has alot of talent on offense.
    Now, defense has talent too
You dont want to waste that, waiting on a QB who will never be a winner in the NFL.

  92. July Joe Says:

^ JW and the Bucs went 9-7 when he was 22 years old in 2017 … so your statement has already been proven false.

  93. SteveK Says:

    July Joe,

We won’t win a championship with Jameis. That’s too many turnovers and mistakes to overcome. Can’t have just the good. The bad prevents a team from winning it all.

  94. KeyserSoze Says:

Pay Winston or suffer the worst fate yet. Jameis is in incredible company for being 25 years old. Also only other QB besides Mahomey to throw 3 ints, 70 percent + and 450 + yards and still have over 100 QB rating. He’s been sacked 40+ times most in his career (wow I wonder why his qb rating is lower this season) we have no run game because they won’t give RoJo enough carries or an Oline, which targets defenses on Winston so much worse, and ummm we score 30 points a game and still lose all the time. Fix the defense we’re in the playoffs. Fix the defense and offensive line we’re in the super bowl.

I agree Winston throws crazy interceptions. That’s what happens when you don’t have play action as an option like every other quarterback. Or a pocket. Or are forced to throw 50 times per game. You don’t think every qb would throw picks throwing that often with the sole outcome of the game on their shoulders? Ariens says Let it fly because Winston keeps us in every game regardless of our terrible defense / blocking / run game etc. if we cut him now it would be like cutting Favre playing on a bad team instead of fixing the issues that kill football teams. 30 points a game with no line no run game no defense… is all I’m saying. Jameis haters are nuts thinking we would actually be in a BETTER situation with a safe qb??? Losing 35-12 instead. Good thinking.

Perhaps 9-7 is mathematically a “winner”
And some a probably happy with just that.

Personally- I think a winner should at least get a wild card berth , once ever 6 years or so.
I know- thats a pretty outlandish hope- when it comes to this team, but ya gotta have dreams, right?
