Of course, many of you know Cameron, namesake of “The Jeff Cameron Show.” Joe has been a guest with Cameron many times and Cameron is a personal friend of Jameis Winston.

Cameron is a St. Petersburg native, a proud Lakewood High graduate and a diehard Bucs fan since he was a little guy running through Tampa Stadium in the late 70’s. Jeff is a 20+ year radio host in Tallahassee talking Florida State and national sports — weekdays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on ESPN Tallahassee 97.9 FM since 2012. Jeff has reported/opined for ESPN SportsCenter, ESPN Radio’s flagship show Mike & Mike, on SiriusXM and he appears on local shows from Seattle to Miami. He thanks the football gods daily that the Lovie Smith era is over and misses the days of Lee Roy Selmon and Doug Williams.

Tom Lang is a popular guy on these pages as host of the JoeBoltsFan podcast during the NHL season. A native of Pinellas County, Tom graduated Clearwater Central Catholic in 2005. He started working in sports in the fall of 2004 covering Friday nights on the high school beat for the St. Petersburg Times. After moving up to the state capital, Tom worked the Florida State sports beat for the Rivals and 24/7 sport networks. He’s been executive producer of The Jeff Cameron Show since 2012, and he’s the Operations Manager of ESPN Tallahassee. Tom still smiles at the memory of dejected Eagles fans leaving their beloved Vet as NFC Bridesmaids all those years ago, and he’s Brad Johnson’s biggest fan. Seriously.

    @Joe

If you’re saying Jameis is not the problem based on them being a high scoring offense, how many of the opponents points are coming off of pick 6’s or short fields after a Jameis turnover?

  2. TampaBay55 Says:

I’m going to go out on a limb and say the SCUTTLEBUCS podcast will be no more after we cut Jameis…

  3. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

Disappointed to see the argument based on points scored.

How many of the points scored this year were in garbage time?

Not enjoying the negative reality of Winston, but I appreciate an honest assessment with his play.

Jameis is about as consistent at QB as VH3 is at CB. Great picks Licht, NOT!

  4. Jim Says:

Nobody wants a franchise QB with a losing record, as Ira has stated repeatedly. At some point you quit with these excuses: Just a rookie, still young, he’s hurt, he was suspended, he was benched, no run game, no offensive line, bad coach 1, bad coach 2, bad coach 3, new scheme, bad play calling, bad refs, his receivers aren’t getting open…I know I forgot a few more.

  5. BucsFan76 Says:

The podcast made me laugh. I guess that’s a good thing. You want to know why the Bucs consistently stink? Their management makes the exact same excuses for mediocrity as this podcast. Here’s the only question you need to ask – can Winston win a Superbowl? I’ll give you the short answer. Not a chance. This nonsense that he shows ‘flashes’ of being a top 5 QB in this league is just ridiculous. The top 5 QBs don’t have ‘flashes’. They play consistently well. Winston is consistent in single-handedly losing 5 or 6 games a year by his play alone. Accept mediocrity and that’s exactly what you will get. The FSU homers are like gambling addicts; you bet wrong. You listened to the wrong insider when you bet everything on Winston because you liked his pedigree. You have now went all in with 3 different coaches and the book is still the same. I know. We need to beat this dead horse that Winston can play, that nothing is his fault, that he’ll be Brady’s replacement if we let him go, for a 5th and hopefully final year. But for love of sanity, let it go after he fails again this year.

Haven’t looked it up but willing to guess not as many as they are getting through the air on this wretched Bucs pass defense.

So you are the kind of guy who prefers Shaun King over Steve Young, eh?

  8. Joe Says:

Someone has to define what “garbage time” is.

Joe knows what the first quarter, second quarter, halftime, third quarter and the two-minute warning is.

What time exactly in the game is the “garbage time?”

  9. knucknbuc Says:

lmao @joe comparing steve young to jameis Winston is laughable at best. steve young was here for two seasons played 5 games his first and then 13 the next season and had 8 tds and 13 picks. do you really think he wouldve been the same steve young here??? all the while james has started what 60 games? perspective. jameis played almost steve youngs full season his rookie year. that comparison is terrible. weve had 5 years of your boy not one playoff.only one winning season. aa better comparison is jay Cutler who jameis basically play exactly like and even he stopped being terrible enough in his first 5 years to get the Broncos into the playoffs.

  10. Joe Says:

lmao @joe comparing steve young to jameis Winston is laughable at best.

NEVER did compare the two. Where did Joe type Jameis’ name in the response?

    Don’t make sh!t up.

  11. knucknbuc Says:

dude u just said poster above prefers shaun king over steve young meaning even if Jameis record is crap hes similar to steve young. maybe we shouldve kept shaung king another few years in that case he was only what 27 when we release him. he was just figuring it out…why bring up steve young or shaun king at all then joe?? this convo is about jameis and his losing record

  12. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

Good point about defining garbage time. I just know Jameis got his 400 yards last week and they were 400 fake yards. They exist in the stat sheet, but the Panthers let up and let us get a bunch at the end, as the game was completely out of control bc of Winston’s dumb ass pay.

Too often do we watch “bad Jameis” come out and kill our chances to win

At the very least, the consistency from the QB position should be valued at a high level. It’s important for an offense and a defense to be led by a consistent signal caller, and not one that sh!ts his pants every 3 or for games.

I’m done with waiting and expecting different results. One more blasphemous performance and I will start clamoring for Griffin to get a chance. I can’t watch terrible football in year five from the number one overall pick. It offends me to the core, and to see fans of Jameis attack fans of the team for objectively talking about his play/stats/results saddens me to no end.

How can some Buc fans be ok with losing and eating five more years for this hack to get it at QB?

I just can’t put my eggs in the basket of Winston. Not unless he takes us to the playoffs. This year.

Anything less and that’s it. We need to start over. Can’t pay $25-30 million per year for an consistently inconsistent QB.
