It’s a bye-week tradition! The Jason Licht Confidence Poll is a 24-hour affair. Poll posted at 3:59 p.m. Last year’s results linked here.

76 Responses to “Jason Licht Confidence Poll”

  1. Dom>Licht Says:

With his excellent win loss record and excellent picks in the draft, don’t forget that great offense of line he has constructed! I would say 100% confident will be having the same conversation this time next year

  2. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    LC 4 me

  3. CharlieB Says:

The amount of draft capital spent for the secondary to still be garbage is unforgivable. When the secondary sucked under Lovie, that was fine he inherited it. When the secondary sucked under Koetter, that was understandably a miss in coaching. Now that the secondary sucks under a third coaching regime, he is either terrible at picking players or coaches. Both deserve being fired.

  4. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Little or no confidence has more than doubled this year. A very disturbing trend for someone who should have been fired last year.

Since we now can see what a total disaster the 2016 draft was, I think the 2019 draft may turn out to be the worst in Buc history. We’re talking Booker Reese, Gaines Adams and Bo Jackson bad.

Gumpster Fire blazing out of control.

  5. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

And his demise starts and ends with America’s Grop…..errr, Quarterback.

  6. knucknbuc Says:

@joe can you vote less then no confidence wheres that button at? how about zero confidence or id rather have my dog as the gm?

  7. Danny Says:

He seems like a great guy, but he’s a bad GM.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Voted Little Confidence…..approaching Mark Dominick territory……

I’m not so disturbed by this year’s draft…..yet……let’s let it play out….remember Cappa & Rojo were “busts”……
Last year we have Vea, Cappa, Rojo, Davis, Whitehead, Watson & Cichy……

    Not too bad…

Will give him a little credit for UDFA……Humphries, Brate, Auclair, Barber

  9. JimmyJack Says:

Maybe I’m too stubborn but I’ll keep my vote at confident.

I’d be where y’all are if he had missed another kicker. I’ll give it some time to turn a corner but if our secondary don’t get better I will have nowhere to vote except little/no confidence

  10. TampaBay55 Says:

    JOE

Didn’t you go on a tirade the other day about how this poll would come next week and not to bother you because it comes every year during the bye week? Guess it came a little early this year …

  11. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

I’m glad to see his family and friends are voting for him

  12. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

“Will give him a little credit for UDFA……Humphries, Brate, Auclair, Barber”

Yes, because his draft picks are so horrific, UDFA’s flock to Tampa in droves.

I would give more credit to the lack of a state income tax and climate than to the Gumpster Fire.

  13. Buc believer Says:

He is not even qualified to bag groceries

  14. FanO’Bucs Says:

You know what this organization needs right now?

More turnover. Let’s shoot continuity and live for today. #yolo

  15. D-Rome Says:

No confidence. Worst Bucs GM over the past 25 years.

  16. D-Rome Says:

The three Totally Confident votes I am seeing are Bonzai, Todd, and NDog.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

It’s not so much what JL has done, but more about what he HASN’T DONE in building this team. The Bucs have no VISION; they have no IDENTITY right now. That’s on Jason; he’s been the GM now for SIX years & yet we’re still cellar-dwellers. We’ve had ONE winning year in that timespan, and that 9-7 record was primarily the result of our defense playing very very well with marginal talent & mediocre coaching (what Joe labels as a ‘fluke’). Without that ‘fluke’ Bucs would’ve had FIVE straight losing seasons under JL’s watch, and this year’s not looking so hot either with us sitting at 2-4.

As bad as the team-building & talent acquisition processes have been, his salary Cap management has been even worse IMO. Highest paid, lowest performing OLine with ZERO depth right now? Really? THAT doesn’t fall on the coaches; THAT falls on the GM. Bucs don’t even have enough money (or draft capital) to BUY our way out of the holes that JL’s allowed to be created. No confidence that’ll change in the future.

  18. SteveK Says:

    Zero confidence.

    Can’t draft.

    Won’t make trade for ballers.

    Babies Winston

Continues to draft DBs, and they suck

Refuses to draft pas rush, and picks a MLB in a PASSING LEAGUE.

ITS THE JASON LICHT AND JAMEIS WINSTON NIGHTMARE. INEPTITUDE at its finest.

  19. SteveK Says:

Jameis and Licht should be gone next year.

How on gods green earth did Licht fern an extension?

    Stale biscuits for everyone!

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

How about that Jameis Winston Poll?

We discuss him every day and have for over 4 years…..seems to me it warrants a poll.

  21. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says: Says:

Football aside…I feel JL threw DK under the bus to save his own skin wrangling BA into the cluster puck situation…everyone understands BA is a bridge of some sort and that role has not even been defined….stall warnings are going off…stick shaker is shaking and the ground proximity warning is repeating itself…Vern
BA and JL have parachutes leaving the Bucs fans bending over and grabbing their collective ankles

  22. Buddy Says:

How long until fans finally realize the same thing about Grandpa Bucco Bruce?? That guy is a fraud. He doesn’t coach anything and makes huge mistakes on gameday

  23. JimmyJack Says:

AlteredEgo…..That sure is a fresh take. I kind of saw it the other way around. Thought that last year it was pretty evident the team was heading nowhere……JL easily could have sold off parts in trades and really put Dirk in a no-win situation. But he didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline & it seemed like he didn’t so he could give Dirk every chance to turn it around and salvage his job.

All speculation from our perspective and from the outside. It sure didn’t look like he threw Dirk under the bus to me. Care to elaborate?

  24. LordCornelius Says:

It’s really insane someone could do anywhere as bad as Mark Dominic but this guy seems to be on track.

    Drafting is not that complicated:

    1. Prioritize lineman and premium positions within those groups like LT / DE / DT at the top of your draft. Always take at least one trench player in the top 3 rounds unless you are super stacked. Even then teams like the Eagles keep going back to the well.

    2. Only take secondary or skill players in R1 if they are elite prospects in that draft and really high on the board. Those players better have elite measurables on top of grades. You should lean towards elite shut down CBs/S or #1 WRs within that grouping. TE is pretty much never a good bet in R1 historically for value you can get later. Even I feel for Howard tho. Could have had George Kittle in R4 and many great TEs now come from rounds 2-4+.

QB = find a good one.

    Why above 2 rules?

    1. Coaching & scheme can’t ruin an elite Oline typically or an elite front 7 on defense.
    2. Elite trench players typically make more than secondary players. Top DT / DEs get paid a lot more than top CB / S; and WAY more than TE/RB. Go buy yourself proven secondary players for cheaper.
    3. Secondary players will always be better WITH an elite front 7. Not so much the other way around.
    4. Your skill players are USELESS if your O-line sucks. An Elite O-line + Good QB is better than a bad O-line plus elite QB + Elite weapons.

Yet BOTH dominic and Licht did the opposite of all this
-try to build a defense from the back-end
-spend premium $$ on overrated average at best O-lineman vs drafting premium O-line and using that $$ elsewhere
-spend premium $$ on aging front 7 players/DL vs building an elite unit through the draft

OH AND DON’T DRAFT A KICKER IN THE TOP 4 ROUNDS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Hire LUVMYBUCS and let’s get on with it. The Bucs are literally better off being run by him or a computer online generated poll from this website.

  25. ElioT Says:

I think Jason is a good dude and means well.

You are what your record says you are and unfortunately for all of us, his record is horrific.

He’s got to go, along with the entire scouting/personnel department.

Historic futility with draft capital and wasted FA salary.

Look at the position the Bucs are in:
    – Maxed out salary cap (with top players on one year deals).
    – Zero trade value for any expendable players.
    – On the verge of another non-playoff and/or losing season.
    – Prime years of good to great players wasted.

In any career, you’ve got to produce results and Licht has had an open check book and high draft picks since he arrived, with… putrid results.

Glaziers: “Jason, we appreciate your effort, but we’ve got to let you go along with your entire staff”.

If Arians doesn’t like it, he can go too.

    This team MUST start winning.

  26. Tye Says:

    No confidence!
He has failed in every single area as a GM… This team is built to lose from the coaches to the water boy!

  27. JameisAlmighty! Says:

Firrreeeeee Licht! Don’t wait until the end of the year.. can his incompetent, unworthy of the position, bad drafting, terrible GM managing, sorry a—

  28. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Why do I have these reoccurring visions of BA doing his Fred Sanford impression
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK9HXu9g5qA

  29. Pewter power Says:

Being upset 2-3 round corner and safety didnt hit the ground running is stupid so I’m not worried about them, even ronde got benched as a rookie. Vh3, carlton davis and mj stewart were just bad picks. Banking on peyton barber was a big mistake for me, getting on Howard and not a running back. My issue is how the team is being built more than who they are bringing in. Team has No identity after all the time on this job.

  30. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

No brainer Joe. Licht My Balls cannot draft nor can he sign impact free agents. He misses at almost every single turn. He’s got nudes of Darcy or something.

  31. JJV Says:

His lasting legacy will always be Jason Light Ale! Everything else is minor in the grand scheme of things.

  32. Bnice Says:

No brainer Joe!!! Very confident!!! WOOOOOOOOO Look at all the grown a$$ men in here crying over a sport and solely blaming 98% on the GM.. LOVE THIS!!!

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Totally confident. Because I’ve actually done a full study of every move he’s made, and he has been more successful than people realize.

He doesn’t coach or play the games, so I do not hold the losing records against him, especially since I don’t believe he’s had as much a say as most assume he has.

And so far as cap management, this is the first year it has been an issue, and all GMs face the issue sooner or later. How he handles it going forward is what matters.

And considering the cap situation, he still managed to bring in two stars…and hit on them.

  34. Bnice Says:

    Touche Bonzai, Touche!

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I would not assume Carlton Davis was a bad pick just yet. Last year he looked pretty good and he’s learning a completely different defense. Again.

The way I see it, if these coaches are any good, they’re having to reprogram the players. It will take more than 5 games. It might even take all season.

Players were not being developed before. Now they are. Development takes time.

  36. SteveK Says:

    Bonzai,

    Are you off your rocker?

You’ve analyzed every move Licht has made and he’s been more successful than people realize???!!!

    No sir, no way.

We are in cap hell, have the most money of any team pent on the O-line despote it being less than average, and we suck.

All those DBs drafted, name one stud?

And Jameis, he’s no proving anything other than it would be impossible to win a championship with his demonstrated level of inconsistency.

    No shot in hell.

    We suck

Our record is on Licht and Jameis.

  37. BrianBucs Says:

Licht and his pet project Winston both need to go for this franchise to turn around

  38. BrianBucs Says:

    Joe

Next week let’s have the Jameis Winston Confidence Poll

  39. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

BB … I think there are only a half dozen Jameis posters here, for you FSU. fans that is 6 …

  40. NPRSageBoy Says:

Fire Licht immediately. A bum off the street could do a better job.

  41. NPRSageBoy Says:

I concur on the JayMiss poll. Do it

  42. Lamarcus Says:

Dumb:. Joe do a JW poll so I can call vote no confidence. Lol

  43. orlbucfan Says:

BBonzai: I voted ‘confident.’ Now let’s do something about the head coaching merry-go-round. That’s not Licht’s fault. Too bad the lamebrains on here ignore it.

  44. orlbucfan Says:

Fire Licht immediately. A bum off the street could do a better job.
    ————————
    Like you, I suppose.

  45. Gregory Says:

I voted no confidence and that feels like a real win so I am goin to go jump in the pool. Now we need a Winston Poll so I can vote no confidence for that also. Both need the go the sooner the better.

  46. Wesley Says:

If you have confidence in him you’re an idiot.

  47. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Lol… just found this mock draft… looks like Jason is still the GM.
    12. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: CB KRISTIAN FULTON, LSU
Fulton has already given up more yards this season than he did in all of 2018, but over half of those came in the Texas game where he rolled his ankle in the first quarter. In all other games, he’s allowed 11-of-21 targets for only 110 yards and broken up three passes. He’s still one of the most complete corners in the draft, and the Bucs still need as much help as they can get at the position.

  48. THETRUTH Says:

Buc fans think they are entitled !!!, people we have been laughing stock for years . We are lucky to have the best coach we can possibly get (2 time coach of the year w/ cardinals) let him do his thing with his people , which include jason!!!!!

what happen last year is not the same this year, culture and product doesnt change overnight especially when we have drafted poorly.

Jason leaves this we will lose this coach and Im sure Bruce gets who he wants when it comes to draft.

You think people want to come her and coach, like we are some precious franchise.

Let bruce do his job and fulfill his contract, its been 6 games and typical losers in the town want to blow it all up..

this is new regime and give it time, you all would have ran Jimmy Johnson out of Dallas after his first year, be patient..

All these coaches are smarter than us and these writer on this site, thats why no NFL teams are seeking JBF or us out to be GM or HC.

  49. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Orlbucfan

Who is the lame brain who has hired the last two carousel horsies?

  50. THETRUTH Says:

Steve what is available in the CAP you seem to know the answer since we are as you say in HELL.. 8 MILLION under 21 out of 32 teams..
    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers/cap/

  51. THETRUTH Says:

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2020/

Next year 6 most space out of 32… depending on winston this May give us tons of room or lots of room

    Not HELL SIR

  52. Buccfan37 Says:

Licht sours my view of the Bucs overall. What the hell are you thinking? Older Buc fans are tired of waiting for a glimpse of improvement with you picking players out of nowhere that are head scratchers. Where are the top notch picks to protect our QB? Get a new ouija board because the one you are using is worn thin from fat finger pressure sliding.

  53. Tampabuscsbro Says:

THETRUTH we don’t want Jason here cause of how badly managed the personnel on this team are we are in cap hell about to go 5-11 again and his first overall pick looks like a journeyman backup at best. I don’t understand how you can defend him with all the major misses he has made in the draft. you know how bad it is where you have an entire draft that isn’t even on your team in 3 years aside from one guy who may be the worst starting CB in the NFL.

  54. THETRUTH Says:

    Tampabuscsbro

i understand , i agree he is under 500 in draft but I expect that bruce has more of a say after the control he has been given. JW was a lovie pic and I never liked it to start . Jamies to me was average as FSU he just had great WR making great catches against high school talent.. but I tried to support JW but 5 years he still doesn’t look confident ( AMERICAS QB – South America maybe) .. Could be poor coaching cause lovie and dirk had no clue on how to develop players. Its important GM and coach can work together and its more than just making pics to be GM. If bruce has his way Im ok to see this thing build up.

if we win 2 in a row these same fans calling for head will be saying the opposite and talking playoffs, cause thats buc fanatics not realistic fans.

Im starting from scratch this year its 6 games !!

  55. JimmyJack Says:

The Truth nice post. I will admitt it is hard to see the licht at the end of the tunnel after last week’s game but I really think this team will hit a turning point at some point this season.

I think what’s so hard is to remain patient when we are getting really close to 2 decades since we last won a playoff game. We have seen where the kneejerk hirings & firings have got us and it’s right here……In a pit of despair for most.

The impatients is understandable. What I don’t like is fairweather fans losing support. I’m asking JBF readers to help support this team when they finally get back to RayJay. They are on a wrecked roadstretch and and deserve a loud crowd to have their backs. I say help motivate this team & let’s show em we want a team they wins their home games!!!! Let’s stop taking it lying down!!!!

    GOO BUCS!!!!

  56. Ndog Says:

Didn’t Arians say give Winston a running game and a defense then we can judge him?

Well folks have we given him a running game or defense yet? Nothing has changed we still can’t run the ball, still can’t stop anyone and the second we had one of injury on the oline the pressure given up has been ridiculously bad. I know I know Jameis sucks but put anyone Brady, Mahomes, Manning, Brees, etc… and we aren’t winning crap. We need to build a team. Look at the one game we have been excited about our oline we scored 55 points and Jameis was the player of the week. Then our oline is hurt and sucks then bam he struggles. Who would have thunk it?

It is clear, give him decent time and he can be elite, give him no time he struggles like every QB ever. What is so hard to understand, it is clear as day.

  57. JimmyJack Says:

Sure Ndog…….and Arians also said if Winston is as careless with the football as he was on Sunday again we got a problem.

  58. Tampabuscsbro Says:

^Which knowing winston he is going to be.

  59. CPN Says:

Licht has done a great job, it’s the coaching staff not taking advantage of the talent in front of them.

  60. Ndog Says:

So he was careless on the fumble that’s it’s. One freaking play. The first pick was on Evans for now coming back to the ball, the second pick was on Wells, the third pick was not careless he got fooled by LK which sucks but happens, the fourth one was on 4th down so you have to throw the ball or take a sack so he threw it up, the fifth one Evans didn’t he turn around. Now I get it, talking about 5 picks in a game itself is silly, I get it I really do but again when your team doesn’t help you you can’t do it alone and that is Jameis’s biggest flaw he wants to win so bad he tries to do it all by himself. What I think is funny is that people think I love Jameis but really I just love the QB position and I hate when people just blindly just blame the QB when so much goes into their success or failure. For instance all of these articles just rip Jameis and say it’s time for him to go then in the same article talk about the porus oline, the crappy defense or the non-existent running game but sweep that under the rug saying it doesn’t matter. Well that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard yet it is said everyday and us just ridiculous.

  61. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Comedy continues around these parts I see. I need to visit Elf Erotica HQ in Bonzee’s Mom’s basement where fantasy runs wild and The Bucs are headed to the NFC Championship followed by Licht Weight to Canton. Love me these Licht Years.

  62. DooshLaRue Says:

    I’m confident……..

That I won’t e seeing any posts from:

    Rod Munch
    webster
    NOSBOS

    …….anytime soon.

  63. DooshLaRue Says:

….although there are rumors that Munch is still transitioning and the surgery did not go well….. so he may get a temporary pass.

  64. John Mitchell Taylor Says:

It constantly appears that Jason Licht is trying to pull an “Al Davis” or “Jerry Jones “ by drafting a “reach” who makes him look smart. The draft record speaks for itself; but the real failure is in the judgement of established talent by either extending and overpaying a mediocre player or worse overpaying free agents. Let’s not forget that Bucs offensive line is the 3rd THIRD highest paid OL in the NFL according to Spotrac! Is that money well spent? Love Cameron Brate but for $7M? Managing your free agents Licht gets an F just look
at Compensatory draft picks last 5 years for the Bucs 1 (7th). New England 12. Shall I go on?

  65. Ndog Says:

But don’t forget guys it’s all the QBs fault. It doesn’t matter what the team is around him it’s all his fault.

  66. unbelievable Says:

    @Lord Corn-

    Fantastic post!

Same fatal mistakes with both of them, ignoring the lines!!!

  67. DB55 Says:

Hire LUVMYBUCS and let’s get on with it. The Bucs are literally better off being run by him or a computer online generated poll from this website
    ————-
This is the poll I want to see.

  68. Tom S. Says:

That is literally the easiest vote I have ever taken in my life. Though I saw through Licht’s garbage personnel moves during the 2017 season and have been advocating for his dismissal and scoring his record ever since.

If you can’t see that Jason Licht is one of the worst GM’s in professional football you are blind or paid by him and cover the Bucs in a competing fan site.

  69. LongSeason Says:

    Get rid of the bum.

  70. Rayjay1122 Says:

Looks like Gump has a little over 300 family members on this vote because no real fans who are not completely insane could find enough positive body of work from him to vote confident or better. SMH

  71. D-Rome Says:

    Bonzai,

Now I know you are a troll! LOL!!! Even though I know this, you hooked me. I admit it.

You’ve done a full study of every move? Tell me, what does your highly analytical research tell you about these moves:

These are all Jason Licht failures!

  72. TBUC North Carolina Says:

Looks like Meathead got his friends and family to vote like a hundred times!!!

  73. Brandon Says:

Licht is buying good ingredients the chefs ask for, unfortunately he’s only been allowed to hire one chef, the other two chefs that were shoved down his throat were terrible.

  74. Bucamania Says:

Licht seemingly has NO PLAN. Draft a bunch of DBs and see what sticks. Draft two freaking kickers when your OLis razor thin. Ignore the pass rush over and over. Draft a MLB at 5.

Look at what John Lynch has done in San Fran already. That guy has a philosophy and a plan.

  75. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

84% voted little to no confidence

    Ouch

  76. Wesley Says:

Get rid of the giant 12 year old frat boy. You are a fool if you have confidence in him. We are a broke bottom of the barrel team.
