Bruce Arians To Welcome Guest Coach Warren Sapp

May 31st, 2019

Did Warren Sapp hit up Bucco Bruce Arians for a full-time job earlier this year? That is unclear.

However, he did sit in Raiders meetings with Chucky last year and Arians said today that he expects Sapp to be at One Buc Palace to coach Buccaneers’ defensive linemen for up to two days during training camp.

The comment came when Joe asked Arians if he had finalized the former professional players that would join him as interns/summer assistants.

How will Sapp handle potential future Hall of Fame defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh? Joe sure hopes the Bucs are smart enough to be sure those guys are mic’d up on those day(s).

    I love this!

  2. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

How cool will that be a HOF Buc with a SB ring..dogging defensive players and they can’t say or think jacksheet because the MAN has done it !

  3. DB55 Says:

This is one of the best days in recent Bucs history and people acting like they’re in a state of mourning.

I think Sapp still has a few games left in him, sign him to a one-year deal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

All jokes aside really interested in seeing what coach Locust does with this line.

  4. Buc believer Says:

Now that The biggest Wuss in professional football has been shown the door maybe we can get some mean back! Sapp is a GREAT start!

  5. tmaxcon Says:

Nice to see the only buc living legend around the team. Keep the rest of the underachieving fools sapp carried away..
Those fools have riden sapps coattails far to long one the bums rode sapp all the way to the hall of mediocrity

  6. Eric y Says:

Coach arians …. thank you!!! Your doing what past coaches should have done … this defensive line will be beast with the right leader in suh and some help by Sapp himself … go bucs

  7. Slugglife Says:

Yeah sure- Sapp carried Derrick Brooks. And Lynch. And Barber.

Sometimes it’s best to just STFU.

  8. SCBucsFan Says:

Slugglife in some cases it’s better for sone people to STFU all the time.. Especially when you say the few same things over and over just to get a rise out of people on an internet message board.

  9. SOEbuc Says:

Defense could return to nasty. I would assume Sapp is a mean dude and these players should take it with extreme pleasure being coached by one of the best DT of all time that played in one of the best defenses of all time.

  10. Jean Lafitte Says:

Sapp was vocal against GMC’s departure so it will be interesting to hear his take on Suh later. Will he admit this was a good move going forward? I see an upside. Just wish Suh wasn’t on the backside of 30 because if he plays really well this season should we offer him an extension next season at age 32?

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

While we are at it…..bring in the A-train….& Simeon…

  12. GoBuxFla Says:

I would PAY to see Sapp coaching up Vea and Suh.

No kids could be allowed anywhere within a mile of the camp that day.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

    Jean Lafitte

Suh’s mentality is so much closer to Sapp’s than McIceCream93. I’m sure he will have no problem with a multi-pro bowl DT that always has fire in his eyes like he did in his days.

  14. SOEbuc Says:

Nassib is extremely nasty as well and apparently one of the leaders of this defense. Rookie Anthony Nelson is a grizzly bear. Don’t necessarily need Sapp to come coach, but use more like a roaring Marine Corp drill sergeant in the middle of the dline and oline going up against each other when the pads go on.

  15. Leighroy Says:

I miss the days of the entire Ray Jay chanting “Warrrennnn….warrrennnnn…warrrennn….” Bring this man back as a part-time “coach,” as a pre-season sideline reporter, or as a cotton candy jockey. Love it!

  16. SenileSenior Says:

Which of our coaches in the previous nine years brought Sapp around? GMC had to seek him out away from One Buc Place to get his guidance.

There was no one like Hardy Nickerson to emulate when Gerald McCoy arrived. No one can argue that the man did not work his tail off for us. No one can truthfully call him a “cream puff”.

    Enough, already! Let’s move on!

“Let the dead bury the dead.”

    Go Bucs!!!

  17. AlteredEgo Says:

Maybe the G’Boy’s and the PR department didn’t want Sapp around with is off field issues…he was around TC or OTA’s in the past as I recall but just as a visitor/observer

  18. Race to 10 Says:

Would be nice to see sapp giving suh pass rushing tips. Kinda helped McCoy but surely wasn’t coached up on run defense

  19. DB55 Says:

Finally I get @NdamukongSuh under my watchful eyes! #CantWait @BartScott57 voice!

  20. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I can see why Arians was such a successful coach! He puts his own Ego aside, and brings in experts like Tom Moore and Warren Sapp.
I am excited for this year, defensively.
I think we are gonna be a bitch to run on, especially up the middle.

    sluglife

those underachieving has beens your low standard arse worships never won a damn thing that matter without sapp… both barber and brooks embarrassed themselves by hanging on far too long and both SUCKED on TV…. those guys had one good year let it go… 5 career playoff wins is laughable not legendary pal…. none without sapp driving the train….

if those fools you worship were true legends they would have won more than 5 playoff games.

your just butthurt because vince young and mike tyson would be favorites against 55 in jeopardy…. GO STORM!!!!

  22. tmaxcon Says:

    slugglife

your underachieving heroes 55 and barber would be backups on the 85 bears and either of the raven super bowl teams…. the object of the game is wins not failure in the post season and meaningless defensive rankings or pro bowls. your failed heroes were a highly ranked defense on a CRAP team coached by a one dimensional hypocrite fool with a creer losign post season record. those bums you worship were far more popular than great… bucs ring of underachievement is filled with backups and failures but when you are a franchise with 2 good seasons in 42 it’s to be expected.

  23. Bird Says:

    ^^^^

You know who is hitting the crack pipe early tonight
Yah . Brooks and barber were terrible Bucs

  24. Jeffbuc Says:

Yup tmax is right everyone knows you can just ride another guys coattails to the hall of fame. I mean every tackle brooks made was becasue of sapp. Barber picking off McNabb to clinch the nfc championship was becasue sapp was yelling at McNabb to throw the ball. Sapp made dexter Jackson intercept those balls in the super bowl by blowing on the ball as it was released to mess up the balls flight path. All those great games brooks had against Vick. They were becasue Vick was scared of sapp and ran to the outside every play. Sapp single handily made all those guys career. I mean look what he did in Oakland. They won a bunch of playoff games there with him. Oh wait they didn’t

  25. Todd Says:

Sorry. Hate the admission. But I’m sporting a boner right now.

  26. BucEmUp Says:

Sapp and Suh trading stories in private sit-down. Oh to be a fly on the wall lol!!!

  27. Skipper Says:

I feel bad for Tmax, dude needs to get laid so bad.

  28. NOSBOS Says:

I love it.. How could anyone not.

  29. #1bucsfan Says:

Doesn’t matter tmaxipad we still got a super bowl ring an the whole nfl still
Looks up to that defense sorry bro your wrong

  30. Chris K Says:

So glad Tmaxipad says stuff like he said about Derrick Brooks… It only solidifies his mentality and confirms him as a troll. Nobody is that stupid to have such an opinion on one of the greatest LB’s to ever play the game.. But stupid is what stupid does.. Let’s get back to real talk with the rest of the real fans.

Trollmax: McCoy has no signature plays, he sucks!
Derrick Brooks: Makes the signature play in the Super Bowl with a Pick Six!
    Trollmax: I’m a mentally challenged troll…

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I think it’s cool to honor Sapp this way…but let’s not pretend he will have any lasting impact on any of our players.

  32. Crockett69 Says:

This is nice, enjoyable reading. Now let’s kick some keester. After all, any pirate/swashbuckler needs a little mean streak on occasion. I once knew a man called Bartholomew Roberts who told me, and I quote, “If you want to get to heaven……………sometimes you got to raise a little hell lad.”

  33. MadMax Says:

Big Nasty coming to teach NASTY!!!! LOVE IT!

  34. Buc1987 Says:

My favorite Buc of all time.

    Still.

  37. Slugglife Says:

Too bad I wasn’t hanging around to to see the rambling incoherent posts of the resident idiot. The jackassery knows no bounds.

  38. Bucnjim Says:

Sapp was not a huge McCoy fan! Trust me I’ve heard him in several different conversations with other ex NFL players. Like the AT&T commercial says Just OK is NOT OK! That was kind of his take on the matter.

  39. Countrybrew Says:

Bring in Sue bring in Sapp but it’s all about Via! I believe the writing is on the wall about what they want out of Via and the type of tackle they want him to be. Mean and Nasty! I love it! Go Bucs!

  40. #1bucsfan Says:

@jeffbuc well said. Tmaxipad prob thinks he should be in the HOF

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Bucnjim, quit.

Sapp and McCoy were/are very close. Sapp mentored him for heaven’s sake.

Out of all of these times you’ve heard him say anything bad about McCoy, did you happen to save a link? You know, to prove your claim?

  42. Anonymous Says:

Sapp straight up told me he has no interest in coaching. I tried to pick his brain a little while I had him on the boat tarpon fishing a few weeks ago.

  43. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Tmax,,

    I luv ya but i gotta say….

As someone who grew up in IL as a Bears fan in the 80s…

Derrick Brooks who have absolutely THRIVED in that ’85 Bears D.
He would have been an absolute wrecking ball.
    Otis Wilson times three.

I have been lucky as a fan in my lifetime.
I was still a Bears fan, and got to watch the ’85 team destroy the league.
Then, as a Bucs fan… got to watch the 2002 D also become one of the best ever.

  44. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    (Derrick Brooks WOULD have)
