Mike Evans Blasts Peter King

January 5th, 2019

Non-believer

Somewhere, Brent Grimes is nodding his head in agreement.

Word got to the greatest Buccaneers receiver in history, Mike Evans, that NBC Sports super insider Peter King stood on his high horse and told the world he wouldn’t let Antonio Bryant be part of his All-Pro ballot, and that Bryant isn’t a top-20 receiver in the NFL.

Only 50 media types nationwide for the prestigious All-Pro team. Sage JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman is one of them.

King should not be, per Evans, who is appalled that King still has a vote.

Evans took to Twitter and blasted King this morning.

Funny stuff.

Shame on King for injecting his wacky agenda into what’s supposed to be a football vote. Brown led the NFL with 15 touchdown catches, which he accomplished along with 104 catches for 1,297 yards.

As for Grimes, well, he knows Brown is an elite receiver. That’s why Grimes thought it was appalling that the Bucs demanded he cover Brown man-to-man for a mere $437,500 per game.

  5. Stevbobucfan Says:

  6. Bob still Says:

It doesn’t matter Brent you signed a contract to play and you took a lot of plays off rediculous payed millions and complain

  7. Guzzie Says:

Licht is an idiot, started way back keeping VJAX for 14 million, then resigning Drug mart, what has he done to keep his job, Swaggy, Sweezy, DJax, Ghost Johnson, Collins, Ward, Aguayo, Spence, Rojo, Smitty, resigning Brate for 7 million with 30 catches and a stud OJ in front of him, horrible Oline, horrible secondary, horrible kicker, horrible running game, seriously why do we even care, the owners dont

  8. Mort Says:

    I agree, Antonio Bryant isn’t an All-Pro. 😉

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    ha ha ha………you can’t even get the last name right…….it’s brown…not bryant…..geeeeeeeeezzzzz

King I think is starting to lose his marbles……I loved reading his stuff 10 years ago but now reading king’s articles is like trying to listen to collinsworth on TV—it’s just too damn annoying

  10. scbucsfan Says:

Brown not Bryant cmon Joe rookie mistake

  11. Darin Says:

Yeah lost all respect for Grimes. 430,000 to cover a guy for an hour. What an entitled punk. Adios. Get a real job you ahole. Might have some respect for humanity

  12. The Coroner Says:

Disrespected at $23,500,000 for 3 years.
I would love to be disrespected for a fraction of that.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

Hahahaha. Than I would like to hear his top 20 WR.

  14. Buc50 Says:

Antonio Brown is AllPro for sure. This kind of stuff is why T.O. was not a first ballot HOFer as he should have been.

  15. Bird Says:

Yah. 15 touchdowns for a receiver is terrible.

Antonio Brown has been the best receiver over the last 5 years. Can’t believe the Steelers May trade him.

  16. Waterboy Says:

Lol Grimes didn’t want to get embarrassed by Antonio Brown on Monday Night Football. I’m sure he is nodding in agreement with Evans.

  17. Wesley Says:

Grimes disrespects us all with his “I don’t make enough money” your getting paid millions to play a game scumbag.

  18. mickman Says:

you can bet Evans will now get one less vote for himself going forward. press should not have this kind of control.

  19. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I’ve lost all respect for Grimes. What happened to competitiveness? He should WANT to cover AB the whole game. Scared players turn teams into losers. Licht should have cut him on the spot. Same with DJax for not wanting to return punts. Let the Betas go and let some Alphas who appreciate the opportunity to showcase their talents and test themselves against the best. Grimes sounds like a guy at McDonalds who doesn’t get paid enough to mop the floor.

  20. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Grimes was a pathetic waste of a roster spot. I sure am glad he got to teach our rookie CBs the ropes. At least they know now that NFL players don’t have to do what the coaches say. Thank you Mr. Miko. PATHETIC

  21. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Why are we still talking about Grimes? He is not on this team.

Either King is being hyperbolic or he is turning into white Stephen A Smith.

Brown not a top 20 WR? He is top 3 all day, every day.

  22. westernbuc Says:

King is a big reason why Barber and can’t gain any traction in the HoF. I’m glad someone put him on blast.

I’m fine if he doesn’t vote for AB, but to act like he wasn’t even that good is insane.

  23. Not Americas QB Says:

If you got a win and your in game and you sit out because your mad at the QB.
Doesn’t sound like an ALL- Pro to me.

  24. Jean Lafitte Says:

Regardless of all his off the field drama there is no denying that he is and has been for awhile one of the best receivers in the league. If he hadn’t had gotten hurt for their final regular season game this year he would have averaged exactly one TD per game. He has a history of great play while being in the NFL. Tell me what team would not reach out to him if he leaves Pittsburg, and I’ll show you a team that’s either already stacked or have no true commitment to win. I would love him opposite Evans, wouldn’t you? But then there will always be that one question in your mind and even everyone of you jock holders know the question yourself. Can Winston get him the ball on target or would AB’s talent be wasted?.

  25. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs fans have become awesome at the game ‘When in doubt, shoot the messenger’. Peter King had an OPINION, just like all of us, except for one minor detail: his counted more (in terms of All-Pro balloting). Mike Evans took him to task for interjecting what Mike obviously felt was a bogus additional voting criteria (that wasn’t performance-based). Good for Mike (I share his OPINION BTW … voting should be performance-based IMO; interjecting POLITICS into the criteria is what gave rise to keeping Pete Rose out of the Baseball Hall of Fame for example.

But Joe, tying Grimes to this story is just stirring the pot. He’s already been fed to the lions. Nothing but bones left on that carcass now.

  26. Jean Lafitte Says:

Very amusing and good points. I think you’re right on target with your take on Evans thoughts.

  27. Fire Light Says:

King has been a hack for a while now. Got to agree with ME.

  28. BucEmUp Says:

Grimes played for atlanta back when koetter was there. For him to say that playing gor his old coach just tells you how selfish some guys really are , and that koetter didnt have yhe guys playing hard for him, they wete play hard for themselves.

Arians will have yhe enyire team wanting to work hard yoward winning , not getting a raise.

  29. Clodhopper Says:

That dope lets his worthless ideology cloud his brain too much.

You know what they say about those that perch themselves upon a pedestal and think they are the moral authority to the world? Skeletons. Lots and lots of skeletons

  30. Victor Johnson Says:

This is nothing new for Peter King; he’s been injecting his stupid personal feelings into the Hall of Fame voting for years. Did the same stuff to Art Monk and countless other players; probably doing it Ronde right now. Mike is spot on; he definitely should have his voting privileges removed. Never should be personal which King can’t seem to do.

  31. Prada..sec147 Says:

How does someone even become a AP voter

  32. MTM Says:

Evan’s has a great point. AB is a diva WR for sure but there is no denying his talent. The fact that Meathead reporter King made those comments shows his lack of fairness and his vote should be yanked effective immediately.

  33. Bobby M. Says:

Mike Evans responds like an emotional teenager…..again. #Shocker

  34. SteelStudBuc Says:

I think u guys need to proof read your articles before you publish them. Jameis Winston isn’t America’s Quarterback… and he’s not a pro bowler this year… plus he was an alternate added late… can you say after thought? And Antonio Bryant??? If you guys had a decent editor half of your articles wouldn’t even make it out the gate… Just saying.

  35. bucsince79 aka Bumaneer Says:

Evans is a great stand up guy who is a gentleman in public… Shame on King AB is elite…

  36. bucsince79 aka Bumaneer Says:

So long Grimes, sorry $437k per game wasn’t enough!! How about you make nothing in the NFL next year… Selfish CryBaby!!
