“Just Jacked Up; Nothing I Can’t Handle”

September 12th, 2018

Jason Pierre-Paul, there’s the guy who should be writing the Buccaneers’ injury report.

He talked about his wounded knee today.

JPP talked about how his knee is “jacked up,” played a little coy about his Sunday availability, and then was pressed and said, “Just jacked up. Nothing I can’t handle.”

Esteemed JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman asked defensive coordinator Mike Smith today about JPP getting banged up in Sunday’s game, in which JPP played about 75 percent of the defensive snaps.

Smith responded saying JPP is “a tough dude” who showed everyone around him on Sunday how much of a tough guy he is by playing through his Sunday knee injury — as if we didn’t know that about a guy who returned to football after blowing off a chunk of his hand with fireworks.

Fun stuff in the video below from the Bucs’ locker room today.

    oh JPP

don’t tease us bucs fans anymore with pass rushing dreams if it’s gonna be like last week

    Peters is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Buccernutter Says:

Man this guys is a ******* warrior.

Wish Grimes was like him lol.

  3. LakeLand Says:

    JPP posted a donut

    Warriors don’t do this

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Lakeland … Somehow I think that JPP’s record speaks for itself. Neither you nor I have any idea how severe his knee injury was/is. Would’ve been easy to say “Take me out coach, my knee’s banged up” but he didn’t. He toughed it out & cam back out there for 75% of the defensive snaps (him & Curry). Bucs really don’t have much depth behind those 2 do they. How many tackles did Spence get at DE? Oh ya, 0. How about Gholston? That looks like 0 too. Our newest addition Nassib? Hmm, think I see another 0 there. But ya, let’s paint JPP as a slack-off. Personally I think it’s all Scapegoat Smitty’s fault. He obviously didn’t put JPP in the best position to make tackles & sacks. Yup, it must’ve been Smitty’s fault. Oh wait, maybe you could blame our new DLine coach Buckner. Nah, go for Smitty.

  5. James Walker Says:

Another cash grab and vanishing act.

  6. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Similar to Geraldini..just how effective are they when they are injured? Are they really helping and doing what is best for the team?

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sure are a lot of Orthapaedic Surgeons posting on JBF lately….giving their expert opinions on Buc injuries….Thanks Dr.s.

  8. Knoxville Bucs Fan Says:

No one knows how he feels you dumb F¥ck. No reason to bury the dude and say another cash grab. Bunch of cry baby pu$$ie$ on this blog

  9. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

I know at least he is trying for crying out loud. Some of you fans have some serious issues. Maybe we should just let JPP hit you with a tackle and see if you still complain after…Anywho glad to see he is doing ok. Go Bucs!

  10. Destinjohnny Says:

Why play a guy when he is on one leg?
Play his back up who will be at 100%
You will get more production from a healthy player and the injured player can heal

  11. Doctor Stroud Says:

Now, when he says a “different jersey”, did he mean a shirt or a “different Jersey” because of all of the transplants in Tampa?

  12. Bucamania Says:

Love the edge this guy has. He’ll make a difference on Sunday.

  13. Marc Says:

Get him off the damn field if he is hurt!!

  14. firethecannons Says:

JPP knee is probably torn up but he wants out there–meanwhile Brent Grimes is about to miss 2nd game with a “groin”–wtf is a groin– a pull?–stop it–work through it already and get out there

  15. Rod Munch Says:

We shall see what he does this week – you’d expect him to show-up and be force against a familiar team like the Eagles. Then again if Smith is playing his depleted corners 15 yards off the LOS, then Foles will just take 2 steps and throw to the guy who is 10 yards open for an easy 8 yard gain. If you sit so far back in a soft zone that guys are 100% of the time open underneath, then short of Warren Sapp and Rice being there you’re not going to get to the QB fast enough for it to matter.

Anywho I look forward to the rookie corners being used as an excuse as to why the corners aren’t playing anywhere near the line and why Foles puts up 400 yards on Sunday.

Hopefully the Bucs will stay aggressive and can get something done against a very good Eagles since you have to assume it’s a shootout.

  16. Marc Says:

Man Jason Licht’s drafts DO NOT look good right now. Why not trade all of our picks in the first three round for the next three years for help at DL & DB? We would be better off, sadly.

  17. BucEmUp Says:

Man I hate continuing to be right about Mike Smith’s defense. THE ONLY SACKS THEY GOT WAS DURING PRESS COVERAGE!!!!!!

YOU CAN’T SACK THE QB WHEN WVERYONE IS OPEN WITH 12 YARD CUSHION. New lineman, new D line coach….Doesnt matter!!!!!!!! PRESS MORE AND GET MORE SACKS. Don’t press and get NO SACKS JUST LIKE LAST SEASON!!!!

  18. BucsBandit Says:

    LET’S GET *REAL* FOR MOMENT…

    In all seriousness…

It’s what every Bucs fan wants to know…

What’s the freakin actual status of VITA VEA???

How come there has been no real reporting on this?

How do you injure your CALF with a calf strain back on July 29th and aren’t better by now nearly TWO MONTHS LATER?

    This doesn’t make any sense.

Why can’t a Buc reporter get to the bottom of this?

What’s the prognosis? Out for 4 months? A BROKEN LEG would heal faster than this. Something very, very strange is going on with this ‘mystery’ injury.

  19. LakeLand Says:

Noah Spence was only on the field for 6.25% of the Bucs defensive players. He was credit with a QB hit. Unlike JPP, who was in on 75% of the snaps and was held to a donut.

  20. SOEbuc Says:

I think he’s gonna start Sunday. Just messing with Philly’s mind by saying “if I’m gonna play.” One can hope.

  21. Kobe Faker Says:

“Who ever the buc pass rusher is…

Is going to have a tough time with all pros

    Jason peters and Lane johnson”

2 words after sunday game Tampa will remember for a long time….

    “Derek Barnett”

  22. Godeep66 Says:

JPP is just saying all the right things. His agent tells him what to say. He and Grimes are only here to pickup a game check. It’s a shame that you Jim ACOSTA loving snowflakes don’t get it!!!!!

  23. LakeLand Says:

    Tampa Bay DE snap count

    Vinny Curry_ 48 plays
    JPP- 48 plays
    Carl Nassib_ 27 plays
    Will Gholston- 25 plays
    Noah Spence- 4 plays

    QB Hits
    Curry-2
    Spence-1
    Nassib-0
    JPP-0
    Gholston-0

JPP, Nassib, Gholston posted donuts, even though they played a combined 100 snaps

Why was Spence only on the field for 4 snaps?

Especially knowing that the Saints was playing from behind and passing the ball every down.

  24. Reach87 Says:

You guys just pick something to cry about. One friggin game (a win) and you can’t help but call someone soft or a bust or a thief. Sad. Go Bucs!

  25. Pryda... sec147 Says:

I don’t care so much these first few games gonna take some adjusting for defense they’ll be right for when Jameis comes back !

  26. LakeLand Says:

    This is not crying

    This is a legitimate question

Why was Noah Spence only on the field for 4 defensive snaps?

Especially, knowing that the Saints was down by as many as 24 points

  27. DB55 Says:

    Lake

JPP actually had Brees dead to right and whiffed. Lol. Stuff happens I wouldn’t count him out.

  28. ATrain Says:

JPP IS NOT A CHECK COLLECTOR

    We will see Sunday

  29. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

It so amazes me how people from the comfort of their recliners can ridicule guys who put their bodies in harm ways and play broken and bruised every Sunday. “heroes don’t get caught”…right…SMH😶

  30. Stevek Says:

JPP and Grimes healthy would go a long way. Not sure we get that. Let’s hope the offense keeps rolling and the defense get get stuff sorted out. Justin Evans scoop and score was impressive.

  31. Rod Munch Says:

All I know is I picked up Foles as FA in fantasy to start against the Bucs, as well as I’m playing Foles in daily as he’s cheap. Foles eats up the Bucs D, and if we don’t have Grimes, and we know we don’t have VH3, and we have the possibility of starting Ryan Smith and Chris Conte, well… Foles could have a career day.

I hope Foles makes me look like a moron.

I also hope Fitz doesn’t turn into a pumpkin since he’ll have to throw outside on what might be a bit of a windy day.

  32. Matthew Says:

Vita ain’t ready that’s why. If Paul is hurt don’t play him. It’s kind a simple if his knee is potentially injured have someone check it out. Place his ass on IR. He knows what’s wrong with his knee if it’s jacked up or not. So why not send him to the Dr. See the specialist. Shows him we care and it also shows him he can’t b**ch about it to the press anymore. That’s all.i got out of him saying my knee is jacked up. Hey press I’m hurt can’t play guys. As much as everyone wants to ignore this reality it’s true. As for Spence I’m okay with him starting and playing every downs. Especially after Paul’s rant about being hurt to the public before Jason could say something to the media and fans. No not cool . No way every guy is hurt. Lot of these guys are bullsh**ting. Vh3 had a legit injury torn labrum is no joke. Vita a calf strain naw. He’s healed he’s just fat and out of shape so he ain’t playing till he makes weight.. He’s a fat f plain and simple.. should of kept DaVonte Lambert he forced a key fumble against Carolina on MNF for us as a rookie. He wasn’t even thought of before that. He got hurt we let him walk. Looking dumb right about now.
I just don’t believe all.these guys are hurt I think our team.is sugar coating their injuries due to players being unhappy about things. Grimes is one of them unhappy guys . Things need to change in that locker room .It’s not fair to the guys trying to win games.

  33. webster Says:

    @ nole4

Brilliant post. They are patriotic when it comes to kneeling but when it comes to POWs…..crickets.

  34. webster Says:

Its obvious tampa idiot fan base does not watch the games. JPP got injured in the 1st qtr and missed a few drives. I guess our idiot fan base did not see or hear that occurance but our fans want to bash him. You cant make this up.

  35. Reality_43 Says:

    @Bandit
I dont think it’s a mystery at all.
They thought it was only a grade 2 strain and it is grade 3 apparently.

Grade 3 strains can take 12 weeks to completely heal.

  36. Bob in Valrico Says:

    @Lakeland
Buckner hinted at Spence’s problem earlier in the training camp. He ‘s got one move the speed rush. To be effective he needs to develope more ways to get to the
    quarterback.

  37. Joseph Mamma Says:

“Just jacked up. Nothing I can’t handle.”

    Well, except lit M- 80’s.

  38. Godeep66 Says:

@webster and Nole: are you clowns going to post on the CFL team blog that JW lands on? My guess is 2/3 years since their will be another NFL team to sign JW. #circlejerkwithJW

  39. Frank Pillow Says:

You guys are nutso- listen to Smith’s presser and JPP himself- JPP’ went down early with a fairly significant knee injury. It’s VERY impressive that he went back out and played. This isn’t a guy simply cashing a check. He was slower off the snap, sure, but that’s b/c of the injury- he gutted it out and played through it. Warrior.
