Key Bodies Return To Practice

August 26th, 2018

Great news at One Buc Palace.

Back on the practice field today, the first since Friday night’s game, were three critical bodies.

Per the Twitter fingers of official team writer Scott Smith, defensive tackle Beau Allen, safety Justin Evans and guard Ali Marpet, all out recently with injuries, were back on the field.

Fantastic signs considering how careful Dirk Koetter is about having his players healthy for opening day.

Marpet, per the CBS TV broadcast last week, was nursing a bad ankle. Injuries to Evans and Allen were kept a team secret to the best of Joe’s knowledge.

The Bucs don’t have to release an official injury report until Wednesday of next week.

    How is Vita’s big toe?

  2. Easy Says:

    Awesome news to hear!

  3. Greg Says:

Good! If Vea cant practice this week he probably wont play in opener.

  4. Mort Says:

    Vita Vea, MIA.

  5. Wausa Says:

Vea is in full pads at practice today.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Wausa

    Maxi or Mini Pads?

  7. Conte Piscatelli Says:

If Vea is back and available I’d like to see him get some work in the final pre season game. He needs the work and wouldn’t hurt to get that against some Fed ex delivery drivers

  8. JabooBuc Says:

Joe, any news on Mitch Unrein? It might be interesting to do a story of what goes into the NFL’s concussion protocol. As someone who has experienced a few concussions in my day, I am curious as to what they are looking for before letting a player return to action.

He has been out for what i believe has been a couple of weeks at this point which I assume means he suffered a pretty severe concussion. Have the Bucs made any comments on this?

  9. Architek Says:

Joe I’m tired of people comparing preseason James to injured Vea.

I’m sure they both will have solid careers but it’s nonsensical to compare in preseason or year 1

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Hope my man Vita is ready for Regular season opener. I’d like to see bigboy play at around 325 or so.

  11. Wausa Says:

Vea is running in full pads with the trainers but not practicing

  12. Chris K Says:

Tampabaybucfan, with that name I assume you’re actually a fan of the team, but trolling Vita Vea is confusing to say the least. Unless of course you fall into that group of Donkeys that do the same to Gerald McCoy. If you’re just a troll it is what it is, but you should at least change your name because real fans don’t troll players that we all should be rooting to heal up and be a big part of this team.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

Beau Allen being back is great news, but Gholston has really been showing up in the guard spot that he never played. His gigantic wing span and GMC, JPP, Curry, and BUCK showing him moves looks to be helping him make nice moves to get through Oline quickly and has had two sacks past two weeks. I say start him week one and rotate with Allen. I don’t want Vea out there week one even if he is 100% healthy, he has NO experience as of yet.

    M.J.???

  14. Gambelero Says:

Vea was running around—in pads—before practice. Maybe I’ve said more than I should.

  15. Wausa Says:

    Chris K

Just ignore people like that. They have mental issues that cause them to want to randomly annoy others and if you respond they feel like they accomplished something.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Chris K

If you are a regular here….you will see that I am only adding a sense of humor on occasion….perhaps a bit of sarcasm. Lighten up…..

You will only find me supportive of all Buc players as long as they wear the uniform.

  17. Gambelero Says:

I agree with the don’t feed the trolls Wausa, but really who doesn’t have mental problems? I can’t walk past a batting cage without putting 500원 (50 cents) in and taking 8 swings.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If you have been reading for the last 5 or so years….you would notice that I have referenced player’s “big toe”…….a referral to Carl Nicks’ problems….when a mysterious injury occurs to a player…..I call it the “big toe” problem…..because something as small as a big toe can bring a huge player down.
Hang around and you will see it again……Sweezy got that treatment, for example.

  19. Defense Rules Says:

This is the best news of the week. Beau Allen back … check. Ali Marpet back … check. Justin Evans back … check. Three very likely starters off the injury list. Vita Vea in full pads, even if he’s not practicing yet is also great news. Hopefully we’ll be at (or at least close to) full strength for New Orleans. Can’t wait to find out which veteran OLineman, RB & CB our GM picks up prior to the season kicking off.

  20. Danr Says:

“Real fans dont… blah blah blah”

    Real fans do… blah blah.

You guys need to stop attempting to invalidate others experience by creating rules by which others much follow to be true members of x group. Its 3rd grader logic and pathetic.

A true American would do xyz. A true friend would loan me money when I need it… its pathetic. Stop policing peoples opinions. If you really loved me you would forgive me for beating you. These are all the same style of argument. And are pathetic.

  21. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, just read that Wester was also back at practice (I like him for depth, but he may not make the final 53). Also read that Bucs brought in Garrison Sanborn for a long-snapper look-see (apparently one of the snaps Friday night was really bad & Anger couldn’t quite get it down in position, thus the missed extra point). Also heard that we brought in yet another RB, someone named Devine Redding. Doesn’t seem to be the big thumper I was hoping for (5’8″ & 205 lbs). Still wish we’d drafted Bo Scarborough.

Don’t worry about trolls trolling you about being a troll 😉

Maxi pads or mini pads made me laugh.

It’ll be easier to root for big boy when he actually plays a down in the NFL.

People who aren’t really fans (good ones, bad ones or whatever ones) wouldn’t being hanging around here in Buccaneer cove.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sorry posters…..but all of my posts are being delayed…..so I can’t answer in a timely manner.

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Jmarkbuc

Thanks….regular posters & I know the last thing I am is a troll…simply adding a bit of humor or sarcasm on occasion.

  25. Chris K Says:

Tampabucfan, thank for clarifying. I’m all good with humor 😁

  26. Dave Says:

No, it’s not all the same. Many, many, many fans on this site get really sick and tired of the morons who claim to be fans but do nothing but trash the team. They’ve trashed McCoy for five years even though he is one of the best DTs in the nfl.

Trashing a rookie because he’s injured and hasn’t been able to practice is pathetic. These players are human and they read this crap. They probably shouldn’t, but a lot of them do.

    How about actually supporting them?

If they do something boneheaded off the field or something boneheaded in an actual game that matters, then fine, call them out. But for some reason Tampa Bay has way more than its fair share of trolls that do nothing but trash individual players and trash the team.

    It’s pathetic.

Don’t like it, then don’t watch, find something else to do

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can’t we all just get along….

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

    TBBF

I definitely “get” you and appreciate your humor.

BTW about a month ago I noticed my posts took awhile to show up. Others have complained. I think it’s a new policy at JBF..we all get delayed now.

    Bottom line it’s not you.

  29. Buccfan37 Says:

Tbbf… and Pablo adds a unique touch of humor every now and then, he must be on vacation.

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo doesn’t take vacations…..to many Children’s to feed…..Pablo has just been laying low because Pablo is embarrassed by Pablo’s homeboy, Roberto Aguayo. But, Pablo will recover after therapy and will return soon.”

  31. danr Says:

@dave waah. typical ‘your fun is wrong’.

If you think aspects of the team can improve your not a real fan.

if you think cops should be held to a high standard, you must not support them.

if you think players can protest one thing, without disrespecting the other, you are unAmerican and might as well leave.

I’m a fan and also love to troll
Trolling idiots can be fun, although sometimes frustrating
Sometimes I see a quality poster jibing another quality poster
We all have differences of opinion sometimes

Just for fun, and to give ammunition to anyone who cares to take it
Don’t be surprised if you see Vea lined up on the offensive side of the ball early on
