Veteran Free Agent DEs Not Poison

January 5th, 2018

Why the hate?

This is blowing Joe’s mind.

Joe has noted the past few days how the Bucs franchise has a chance to somewhat right one of the dumbest decisions in recent NFL history — Joe can’t count how many national NFL writers, including a Seattle NFL beat guy, over the years have told him what a complete, braindead, idiotic, dumb@ss move it was to let Michael Bennett walk away for no good reason.

Now Bennett believes he will be a salary cap causality.

Even a rice farmer in Vietnam knows the Bucs are beyond desperate for an edge rush.

This has been a broken record for a friggin’ decade. And it is an organizational issue that dates back to Bruce Allen and beyond.

(Joe finds it more than interesting that less than a week after the regular season ends, two stud defenders on the Bucs have taken to social media begging the team to go after Bennett. What does this tell you? It tells Joe these guys are sick and tired and flat out fed up with trying to close out games with an edge rush that a Division-II school would be embarrassed to have.)

Bennett, who the Bucs stupidly washed their hands of after the 2012 season in favor of gun-totin,’ guitar-strumming, CFL-slumming Da’Quan Bowers, had 8.5 sacks in 2017. The last time the Bucs had a defensive end who had 8.5 sacks in a season? You guessed it, that would be Bennett in 2012, when he had nine sacks.

Apparently, given the comments on the various posts, Bucs fans don’t want him. He’s a kneeler; he’s a liar; he’s a cancer, some claim.

Good grief, please share with Joe what some of you are drinking!

Someone inform Joe in great detail how Bennett is a cancer. The Seahawks, since they signed Bennett, have been one of the winningest teams in the NFL. For the first time in six years, the Seahawks are not in the NFL playoffs. Six of the last eight years Seattle has made it to the postseason, twice reaching the Super Bowl. How exactly is Bennett a cancer? He’s hardly offsides-jumping, belly shirt-wearing, practice-hating, kicker-heckling, tree-grinding , non-contact-football-loving, chicken-wings-grilling, playing-time-squawking, TV-cooking-star, half-sack Swaggy Baker.

Then there is the crowd that claims Bennett is too old. Come, now. Sure, Father Time is undefeated and sooner or later he too will claim scoreboard over Bennett. This just in: Bennett’s 8.5 sacks at the age of 32 is more than all of the Bucs defensive ends combined in 2017.

To put things in perspective, there were three 30-or older defensive ends on the free agent market last year: Calais Campbell, Julius Peppers and Chris Long. They were signed by Jacksonville, Carolina and Philadelphia, respectively. Surprise! All three teams are in the playoffs.

You do the math.

So just because a guy is 30 doesn’t mean he is washed up. No, Long is not the same guy he was with the St. Louis Rams. But his five sacks this year are double what Will Clarke had for the Bucs. Clark was the leading sacker for defensive ends with Tampa Bay. Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht pulled him off the street, the team was so desperate.

Is Bennett a long-term answer? Of course not; who suggested otherwise? But Bennett sure as hell is an upgrade. And don’t try to con Joe that Jags, Stinking Panthers and Eagles fans are crying in the macro beers because their teams signed a 30-year old defensive end.

Rather than do that, the Bucs sifted through flea markets for a free agent defensive end hoping to wind up on “American Pickers.” Perhaps if the Bucs actually went after a guy who was 30, who also has an established resume, maybe, just maybe, the Bucs wouldn’t be in the pinch they are in with a virtually non-existent edge rush?

But this is why the Seahawks and Stinking Panthers are more often than not in the playoffs and why the Bucs wallow with the filth in the NFC South basement.

Just remember this, you anti-Bennett folks, before you slam  your first shot of tequila tonight:

Robert Ayers, Will Gholston and Swaggy deposited $19,250,000 of Team Glazer loot into their bank accounts this past season and combined to produce 2.5 sacks. Bennett’s salary with Seattle was $15,500,000 and he had 8.5 sacks.

You don’t need to be a certified tax accountant to figure out which team had a better investment.

As America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, would say, the Bucs need dawgs, not puppies.

Anyone that votes no on Bennett doesn’t know football…he would be a gift from the football gods…

  2. Hertz Says:

I’d rather take a chance with draft pick to fill that position than Bennett. He’s a liar, race baiting POS, that should apologize to the Las Vegas PD. And the media has given him a free pass. It’s unbelievable.

  3. Lord Cornelius Says:

Dudes we have no choice lol. We are desperate as f*ck at this position.

We have to take the 2 best DE bodies we can possibly get in free agency – regardless of age or flag appreciation or over-paying them.

If that means getting a Michael Bennet then so be it. He’d be a great pick up imo.

Demarcus Lawrence is not going to be available. Our best bet is Ansah – and he is still an injury risk with 2 years in a row dealing with them – but when healthy he has been a beast. At least he’d be a better injury risk type player than Jaquis Smith; considering Ansah still gutted out most the seasons through the injuries and none were huge ACL type issues.

    Sign Ziggy Ansah
    Sign Mciahel Bennet

Draft Bradley Chubb or Arden Key R1
Draft another developmental DE in rounds 4-7; or earlier if the value is there

DE-Ziggy Ansah / Noah Spence / late round pick
DE-Michael Bennet / Chubb or Key / late round pick

DT – McCoy / McDonald / top 4 round DT pick

    That’d be a pretty quick d-line rebuild.

Then Sign Malcom Butler or Breeland.
Sign best you can at either C or LG or RT.
Sign a stopgap S to get through a year with Evans – worry about it later cuz we can’t do everything and we need to emphasize front 7.

Draft a RB and an O-line hog using your 2-4 picks that aren’t on the DT. Draft another RB / CB / DE with your 5-7 picks.

    Boom.

  4. Destinjohnny Says:

Well we won’t draft a defensive end I can assure u
    So why not sign him

  5. DanBucsFan Says:

Im all for it if he is available. Pick him up to help teach Spence, and whoever they draft at De this year definitely will not hurt. To say he is a cancer is just plain ridiculous, he is a savy vet who seems to bet not only respected but loved by teammates. If he is a cap casualty they will hopefully make him an offer soon as he hits open market before he is snatched up by a contender. Give him a 2 year reasonable offer and instantly upgrade our weakest position.. Seems like a no brainer. However some dont seem to be using their brains with the constant ” cancer ” talk.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

The pro-cop killer anti-American piece of trash can rot out west with the rest of the garbage.

  7. Dave Says:

Bucs already have a hard time filling the stadium. Last thing we need is another reason for fans to boycott. Bennett starts kneeling on the sidelines and you’ll have another major distraction for this team that already has a very fragile locker room.

  8. Lakeland Says:

How can the laughingstock of the NFL be picky with players? The Bucs should drop to their knees and give thanks to God for the players that want to come to Tampa.

  9. Clodhopper Says:

At lteast you don’t deny he’s a kneel and bobber, and a liar.

I don’t care if we sign him or not. He’ll be nothing more than a piece of meat and tool to me just like Salami Mike and Wrench Jackson.

  10. JimmyJack Says:

Well let’s see. McCoy is asking the team to sign Bennet and he has played on the same team with him.

Of course the haters will say GMC is a team “cancer”(hate that term btw) but that is clearly untrue to the open minded. If McCoy is going to ask for the guy you can bet he won’t be backing a guy who would be a problem in the locker room……….Believe what you wish but I’ll take GMCs opinion about the guy over a random commenter randomly calling Bennet a “c**cer” anyday.

  11. Nick Says:

@Joe, have you ever played football on any level ? How about any sport?

You truly can’t understand why this guy is a cancer ? WOW !

I have listen to your podcast quite a bit lately and I must say I definitely had a great deal of respect for you, but I must say it is now on the decline.

P.S I don’t want anyone on my football team that would kneel for our national anthem !

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    LC

    I like that….no….I love that!!!!!

isn’t dallas in a little bit of cap trouble?….I know they were talking about restricting dez’s contract….

I know they picked up zack martins 5th year but they still got to pay zek and dak…..cole Beasley….t.williams….b.jones….

I hope your wrong about lawerence but I doubt it!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  13. Lakeland Says:

    2017 Tampa Bay Bucs
    22 sacks

    2001 Michael Strahan
    22.5 sacks

This is ridiculous, one man gets more sacks than an entire team

  14. JimmyJack Says:

You guys are effing idiots…….I mean if your going to condem a guy for kneeling then be a man about it and have some backbone. But you won’t, I guarantee most of you won’t say a dang word about it when Mike Evans is getting signed for a new contract.

Bunch of hyprocrites using the kneeling thing as a tool that you pluck and choose who to condem with……..Remove your head from your own ass please.

Also, if you bother to wake up for a second you will notice that whole kneeling movement is a thing of the past. Get with it.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

The NFL is an entertainment business – and a particularly American form of entertainment. So when you have some dumb fruits attacking the country they live in, attacking the people who made them incredibly rich despite the players generally having IQs in the lower single digits, then people turn away since outside of entertainment the NFL has no value. Ratings down 10% in 2017 and if the TV networks continue to focus on a bunch of moronic social justice warriors and their hissy fits then the ratings will continue to drop. Bennett may not be a cancer with the team, but he’d be a cancer to the city. This area isn’t a bunch of dumb hippies like in Seattle and they’re not going to look the other way to a piece of trash like this who is a bigot, a race baiter and a proven liar. There is no way that Glazers would allow this piece of trash to come here, none, so it’s a non-story.

  16. JimmyJack Says:

@Lord…..You say sign Ziggy, sign Bennet, sign Butler.

Don’t think it’s all quite that simple. Takes two to tango

  17. Jason Says:

Been a diehard Buccaneers fan for 25 years. No question he is talented and we need him. With that said, I just don’t understand the concept of sacrificing the character of our football team. Maybe I am in the minority, but I would choose character every time.

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

The kneeling is bad enough, But throw in the lies and slander of the las vegas that he made up and never apologized for or took one step of ownership for!!!! I know that Bucs are desperate, but we don’t need trash!!!!!!!!! And the fool turns 33 next season, no thank you!!!!!!! ( if is so great, why would he be a cap casulty anyway?????) Tampa Bucs do not need an old, lying band-aid that will lay down on his last contract!!!!! We can do better than that Tampa!!!!!!!

he is not the only option to get a pass rush in Tampa!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Pickgrin Says:

Let it go Joe – Seattle is not releasing a good player like Bennett and taking a $5.2M cap hit just to save $3M. Seriously doubt they will be that stupid.

Why waste time thinking and writing about it with those #s making it highly unlikely?

  20. Clodhopper Says:

Some people hate this country. It’s a free country, you can hate all you want. But acting like NOT hating the country makes you some kind of reprobate, is beyond ridiculous.

  21. Joe Says:

    Lord gets it.

You truly can’t understand why this guy is a cancer ? WOW !

There is zero evidence to suggest he is. Not based on the facts that count: Production and wins.

Not saying Bennett is a boy scout. In the recent past, the Bucs went the boy scout route (guessing that is why they let go of Bennett for no good reason). How’s that worked out? Still need a defensive end; still losing.

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs will as usual screw things up. They always do. This franchise is Snakebit. Until we win? I’ll say no different! Bucs need a Defense like a fish needs the ocean. They also need a new defensive coordinator. Don’t matter. If Smitty stays, (and I think he will) You chronic complainers will be back at the whippin Post wining again. ITS A BUC LIFE!

  23. DanBucsFan Says:

    @ Nick
WHAT THE HELL DOES “joe” playing football have to do with his assessment that dude is not a ” cancer “. I’ve played ball in both high school and college and I agree with “joe ” that his is no cancer. I actually see EXACT OPPOSITE dude, fact is he is loved by his teamates and coaches proves that. So bcuz he kneels he is a cancer in your opinion. Thats fine bud but who are you to act like your opinion is bible and rest of us including joe have no clue?.. If you played ball in past you must realize that what happens in locker room is kept in locker room as far as bonding and so on..most people outside of that always think they knw what is going on but yet we all have no clue as we are not part of it. And btw.. What FACT other than your assessment due to him kneeling do u have that he has torn a team apart due to his behaviour \ actions? Please share your insider sources with us.

@Lord…..You say sign Ziggy, sign Bennet, sign Butler.

Don’t think it’s all quite that simple. Takes two to tango”

For sure my liege – it’s just a hopeful wishlist that would be easy to do in terms of cap space. In the end we’ll have to just take what we can get.

813- I hope Lawrence hits FA but I’d be pretty shocked – dallas fans love that guy and he just had 14.5 sacks at 25 years old. If he hits the market then we better send the jet and go all-in and be ready to pay like $19 mill per year.

  25. Joe Says:

Why waste time thinking and writing about it with those #s making it highly unlikely?

The subject himself has stated publicly for the record he believes he will be cut. Two Bucs stars openingly beg the team to bring him back. If that’s not a story, Joe doesn’t know what a story is.

If you don’t believe there is a chance he will be released, you don’t think the Seahawks wouldn’t have already told his agent Bennett is safe?

  26. Lord Cornelius Says:

If the guy isn’t sitting in a jail cell and can rush the passer I’m all for it at whatever cost lol. That’s how low I’m setting the bar at this point. We don’t have time to worry about character unless it’s a non-practicing Swaggy Baker type

  27. Broy34 Says:

Sign ansah and Bennett huh Cornelius – good thing no other team in the league needs one of the top 2 available d ends. Of course theyll both come to 5-11 Tampa Bay. Omg. Just like Joe says – it’s officially “silly season”

  28. Joe Says:

    “silly season”

Silly season is the draft lies. We’re not there yet.

Detroit has every opportunity to sign Ansah or tag him.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Look at it this way…if the NFL makes a rule where they have to stand, and Bennett sits anyway…he’ll be suspended and won’t be playing anyway.

That would be my only concern. Otherwise, I say get him so long as we get a first round DE in the draft. If getting him changes those plans? Then no.

  30. Grt1 Says:

Thank you Corn. We live in such a honkey city… he’s a kneeler who gives a crap, he lies to the media who gives a crap I gave two young boys and I live my life as proper as I can for them to look up to me not a football player on tv. Let’s win football games and not become the moral police. Fire the cannons!!!!!

  31. Ed Schwartz Says:

His game has tailed off from a few years ago, you aren’t getting a superstar but he’s better than anyone we have now, just don’t give him a whole bunch of guaranteed money, his numbers and age are similar to Robert Ayres and he didn’t contribute a whole lot despite being one of the best linemen on the Giants. I would give him a shot though if he wants to be here

cant be a choosey lover!!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!

  33. pick6 Says:

8.5 sacks at age 32. unlikely that he repeats that at 33. so, how much are we willing to splash out for a guy who is unlikely to get 8.5 sacks and has been moaning about his salary every year since roughly 2014? having overspent on trash does not create justification for more misspent cap money, or to bring in another entitled guy who has accomplished pretty much everything he cares to other than one last contract.

  34. monk Says:

So the Bucs sign him and the sports news, including Joebucsfan, continually report his kneeling, lying and outbursts about why the USA sucks. He’s a moron who doesn’t realize how blessed he is to be a wealthy, healthy citizen of this country. THE BUCS SHOULD PASS.

  35. pick6 Says:

michael bennet over the next 2 years is probably going to give you what robert ayers did over the previous 2? it was money that was better spent than what was paid to baker and Gholston, but does that make it money well spent or an investment worth repeating?

he’s better than what we’ve got, but that doesn’t mean a team should write him a blank check. and they certainly shouldn’t be on the hook for any guaranteed money after the first season is over

  36. JimmyJack Says:

It’s just unbelievable that a proven pass rusher(emphasis on proven) may actually want to come to Tampa and so many are stretching for reason to not want him…….You guys are literally wishing the worst for the team.

How about we not sign Bennett let the Cowboys resign their pass rusher and Ziggy decides he wants to take a bit less money to play for a contender and goes to some team like the Steelers……….Great thinking guys, let’s just come up dry in free agency again. Maybe then we can make sure to resign 2 sack Ayers cause that will be about our best option.

Unreal how you guys are nitpicking the only passrusher that may be available for us.

  37. Joe Says:

If you are looking for bang-for-buck, Bennett is significantly more productive than Ayers/Baker/Gholston’s combined 2.5 sacks for $19 million.

Hell, you can buy Bennett, maybe triple the output and still have cash left over to buy a corner. Upgrades!

Especially from fans of a team that was THE WORST in the NFL in sacks. As in rock freaking bottom. Hello?

Bringing Bennett back if available should be a no-freaking-brainer for a team that was LAST in sacks. Dead-last!

How many games did the Bucs lose because of no edge rush, three, four? And folks don’t want to improve at that position with a proven veteran who wanted to stay here all along? What’s wrong with people?

  41. small axe Says:

    get over the kneelin
    let’s talk

  42. The Buc Realist Says:

I hope that they move onto the “real” issues like the Hunger problem in the world, and to get attention they should insult all school teachers, so when they are asked about insulting school teachers, they will say its not about disrespecting teachers, its about bringing the problem of hunger into the spotlight!!!!!!

These issues must be brought to the forefront!!!!!!!!!

  43. Birdman Says:

Butthurt fans still mad at kneeling…. Keep your politics in politics and keep the football in football. Dude had 8.5 sacks injured last year.

And what this I hear about Bennett lying about Vegas? Can someone share I link? I know he ran from gunfire and was detained as if he was the shooter what else am I missing?

  52. Me? Says:

There are arguments to made to not bring him in (not many), but the hypocrites who think he’s un-American are the same fools who put a sexual predator in the White House-so get that crap outta here. 53. Dom is gone Says:

  58. DB55 Says:

  59. Cobraboy Says:

Bennett will not be a Buc anymore that Davin Cook or Johnny Football were going to be Bucs.

Do not underestimate the influence that McDill AFB has on the affairs of Tampa. Tampa Bay is a military center. It’s not Seattle. Connect the dots.

The quickest way to alienate even more fans in Tampa is to sign an unrepentant kneeler.

  60. DB55 Says:

Well we eat the bananas not put them up our butts so you might feel out of place.

  61. Clodhopper Says:

People tend to stereotype when talking about other groups. I’d rather hear straight from the horses mouth.

  62. Clodhopper Says:

That’s uncalled for. Is it cuz you’re just a dick or should I just blame your whole race? Asking for a friend.

  63. DB55 Says:

Oh you mean like calling a military brat unpatriotic bc he stood up for his beliefs? Yea I hear ya. Stereotypes are whack.

  64. DB55 Says:

I’m just a dick but you already know that.

  65. The Buc Realist Says:

    @DB

You don’t think my Suv and Boat don’t take gas? Have to fill those tanks up too just like you do, and you don’t think our fancy Italian espresso machine’s don’t break down?? you think I can just go down the street to get that fixed????

Maybe protest the people who are racist and not the flag that says that we are all free and the people who are of in far off places for this country that only get to watch a little of the armed forces network that does show football and when they for a little appreciation for a under 2 minutes of our time, I have an issue with that!!!!!!

I think you all would be very surprised how many actually agree that conditions and people should be treated better, I am just not going to insult others to get there!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  66. Clodhopper Says:

I wonder why when I complain about one single specific named individual person, you think I’m stereotyping about an entire race? I’m genially curious how you make that leap.

  67. Dave Says:

Yeah, considering how close the Bucs organization is to the veterans groups and military, there is no way Bennett’s kneeling antics would go over well here.

  68. DB55 Says:

    Realist

Only the racist get triggered and that’s what I’m here for the piss them off. If the shoe fits wear it.

And FYI I work with vets and military and I’m yet to meet 1 that publicly disagrees with the protests. To a man they ALL say that’s his right and that’s why we serve. So yea about that….

  69. Clodhopper Says:

    Genuinely

  70. DB55 Says:

  71. Clodhopper Says:

Does it count if I got pulled over for my car bra covering my liscneve plate slightly and it was by a quick stop not a 7/11? And I was strip searched in jail? How specific does your analogy need to be?

  72. DB55 Says:

Why did you go to jail?

  73. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Said this yesterday. The US Armed Forces have yet to release any statements condemning anthem kneelers. None whatsoever!
As well, they continue to pay the NFL millions of dollars in advertisements.
    Pretty telling, no?

  74. Dave Pear Says:

    #Me Too

  75. Dave Pear Says:

But it was at a Circle K

  76. Clodhopper Says:

How about not strip searched, but searched and my car searched right up by the door of a busy gas station cuz I had a tail light out? Does that count?

  77. Clodhopper Says:

    Pot

  78. DB55 Says:

    Rhonde

No it’s not bc “real” Americans are offended. You know making America great again and what not can’t have n*****rs disrespecting the flag. Psst whatever!

  79. Clodhopper Says:

And that’s why I got searched that other time. Cuz it was on my record and I got searched every time I got pulled over, which was a lot cuz I had a heavy foot. Only the one was actually right in front of the world tho.

  80. Clodhopper Says:

    DB

Guess what. I hate Debra Messing too. She whiter than Barney Fife

  81. DB55 Says:

Well there you go. I didn’t have that but being brown and all they assumed I must be doing something illegal.

Funny bc about 1 yr later a black lady cop pulled me over for the same thing and she told me to be more careful and to have a nice day. Gee I wonder what the difference was?

  82. Cobraboy Says:

    @DB55: I call pure baloney.

I know hundreds of active duty and retired military. My two best friends are both retired West Point Colonels. My company is giving away a full motorcycle tour to a deserving active duty or recently discharged armed services member, and I get to interface with many, like hundreds.

I can count on one hand how many military guys like and respect the kneelers.

There is no way Bennet will be coming to Tampa based on his hatred toward the national anthem and his lies about cops.

Like Kaepernick, I’d be surprised if he’s that hot a ticket in Free Agency if he’s released. He’s in the perfect place in Seattle, because those folks agree with his flavor of hatred. Maybe the Raiders until the move to Las Vegas because Oakland is pretty much next door to Berkely, and you know how those folks respect America: about as much as you.

What it’s like in white America working 70 hours a week to pay your bills not living off the F in government…. DB don’t know what white people you’re talking about but I work my ass off just to pay my bills and have been incarcerated several times for no reason… in my opinion. and when you Breed us out And all the Mexicans are the deported, Who will be left to work ?

  84. Dave Pear Says:

    Black privilege?
I think that might be reverse, she strip searched me.

  85. TheDailyCoroner Says:

I love it when he played for the Bucs. Major brain fart when they let him go.

Can’t stand it that he would not stand for the pledge and dishonored veterans.

Sign him. Then give them a tour of McDill Air Force Base.

  86. Clodhopper Says:

I don’t think Bennet will have a problem finding a team. Keap has a stigma because no one talks about him without mentioning the baggage. Bennett actually gets talked about without them mentioning that baggage. There will be a few teams that won’t take him but I think most would

  87. DB55 Says:

    Clod

Bro please stop trying to make it sound like I’m exaggerating. We’ve had this discussion before and you know damn well if white girls with blonde hair and blue eyes were being murders in the streets by cops there would be hell to pay.

Look at how upset Twitter is about the gamer who got killed by the swat team. Andrew Finch Of witchita KS, You would think it’s a national tragedy. Gee I wonder why?

  88. Clodhopper Says:

    DB

Are you saying you’ve never been arrested? Or did I misunderstand?

  89. DB55 Says:

I bet they’re old. I bet they remember 1950s America and thought it was the greatest time ever. Which is was for you not us. Believe what you want idgaf about you or your opinion tbh.

  90. Clodhopper Says:

Really? You really gonna pretend them talking about that for half a day compares to Michael brown, Freddy gray, travon, or Eric Gardner? Come on!

I keep trying to tell you to quit voting democrat. Every single bad city is democrat ran. It ain’t my fault you won’t listen

  91. DB55 Says:

Never once bro. They’ve tried. The closest I’ve come some lil prick white cop but cuffs on me bc I wasn’t walking out of the club fast enough and I said to him “you the man” he thought I said “fu man” and cuffed me. I’ve seen and heard white people say much worse and nothing happen.

The one instance were I was guilty is when I found a VIP card at the hard rock as used it to buy some beers. If not for FBI spc agent Ramirez I’d probably have a felony record. Thank god for Ramirez!!!!!

  92. DB55 Says:

    Com

Get an education and maybe you wouldn’t have to do that.

  93. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    @Clod

“Every single bad city is democrat ran”

You’ve said this several times, and it’s downright false. That’s as absurd a statement as saying the opposite.

  94. Clodhopper Says:

I got cuffed once cuz there was a fight in the bar and the cops closed down the bar. So when I got outside, I was trying to be funny like Randy Marsh and yelled “I thought we were in America, this ain’t communist Russia!”

But the first time I got arrested, you’re prolly gonna hate this but I didn’t even get cuffed and got to sit in the front seat with the cop on the way to jail. He even let me smoke a cigarette!! I thought we made friends with each other til we got to jail and he strip searched me. Maybe we did make friends?

  95. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If the Bucs are to forget the negatives and sign him simply because he is a good DE then surely Bennett will sign a “no-kneel” contract……making it a business decision instead of a personal platform for grievances.

I have no problem forgiving him for anything he’s done in the past….but there is no way we should be used to allow him to continue his protests.

  96. Clodhopper Says:

Then prove me wrong. When was the last GOP mayor I’m all the cities that’s had problems the last few years? Clvlnd, Stlious, Milwauke, Chicago and Bmore. Look it up!

  98. DB55 Says:

Did he take u to Burger King too? Psst lol smh. Luv you bro.

Honestly I think the only way you’d be able to relate is if you moved back to England (let’s say for example). I’ve seen how The British treat Americans and it’s not that far off.

  99. Clodhopper Says:

    Rhonda

Prove me wrong then. Look at the mayors in all the cities that made national news the last few years. NY is the only acception.

  100. Donkc Says:

Joe, refresh our memory about why you didn’t want the Bucs to sign Incognito. It had something to do with character I believe. Should have signed Incognito just like they should sign Bennett if he becomes available.

  101. DB55 Says:

As long as cops continue to slaughter Americans in the streets I hope they all kneel Bennet Evans Jackson Winston. And I most certainly hope it pisses you people off and stop watching football all together like you said you would at the beginning of this season.

They are maybe 20% “old” that is born before 1960.

Some are in their early 20’s, and the vast majority are 30-45.

Your ignorant paradigm of “only old people are against disrespecting the anthem and flag” is the kind of willfully blind ignorance, in the face of facts, that got Trump elected.

But you seem to avoid facts affecting your opinion. So be it.

The probability of Bennett wearing a Bucs uniform again is roughly equivalent to you pulling up your underwear, turning your cap around, trading the 24k grill for pearly whites, lasering the tats, cuting the dreads, getting a job and voting for The Alpha Donald in 2020.

    And maybe even less.

That kinda BS is what’s wrong with America.

All races are full of lazy a$$ people.

  131. Cobraboy Says:

@ webster: we now know the intelligence community was thoroughly biased. Trump was correct.

If there was any Russian collusion Hillary did it.

Today the Senate Intelligence Committee referred Christopher Steele to the DoJ with a request for criminal prosecution, and subpoenas have been issued for sworn depositions of numerous DoJ and FB I leaders involved in the Mueller investigation to explain their actions.

The lid is blowing off the top, the “Russia Russia Russia” narrative is inop and the “intelligence community” is under the spotlight to explain their political corruption.

Additionally, Fusion GPS has been ordered by a Federal Judge to turn over their bank records.

If all this is news to you then you have outed yourself as being unaware of the facts.

  132. Rod Munch Says:

DB, of course you like Bennett, you’re the biggest racist and race baiting bigot on this site – you two are two in the same when it comes to your hatred of the country, of whites that don’t pander to you and your lies about the cops. Anywho he’s not getting signed by the Glazers, the people with jobs that actually buy tickets are going to buy less tickets – and for those that say the ticket sales don’t matter, the TV ratings do, and a 10% drop in TV ratings is only the beginning if TV networks promote morons like Bennett and yourself and think football is about being a political platform for men that play with balls for a living. People who aren’t obsessed with race, promoting cop killers, politics and being a victim watch sports to escape that stuff.

  133. Dom is gone Says:

True about laziness I apologize. I will no longer comment on any topic than turns racial ….. will leave that for DB55,

  136. bucfan999 Says:

NO NO NO NO……Bennett is a cancer causing problem not only in the Locker Room but in the community. Ask the Vegas police department about Bennett trying to cause a problem between the community and police force. Luckily there was video showing the truth. He’s nothing but a flag kneeling, community problem causing, aging veteran who even Pete Carroll wants to move on from. We need a pass rush but NO to Bennett.

  137. DB55 Says:

    Buc

Can you fill me in on the lie? I know he claimed he was at a party someone started shooting he ran and was detained gun drawn as he laid face down on the ground. What am I missing?

  138. webster Says:

    @ chior boy

44 presidents (republican and democrat)/intelligence community before the idiot in chief said beware of russia, but you want the nation to believe a con man who lost in new york his home state during the the election 9 -1 over the intelligence community? He is a con man. Its cool if you want to out yourself as an idiot who do not want to acknowledge you were wrong for voting for a idiot. Because every president before this idiot took the intelligence information personally. I will let you believe an idiot who needs pictures or praise in order to pay attention to the intelligence being provided because he does not read. Thats on you. You have outed yourself as someone who refuse to see the facts. He11 the intelligence community doesnt even give this idiot all the info because they know he is an idiot.

  139. Aj Says:

Joe, how is Bennett “a liar”? You linked to a Clay Travis story who intentionally writes stories and creates talking points that clearly caters to a certain type of crowd (and I think you’re aware of that). The videos that were released by the LVPD has gap in between events. The original video by TMZ shows a gun being pointed in his direction as well Bennett on the ground. To use his politics for racial justice as a deterrent to sign him stupid.

  140. Joe Says:

Joe, how is Bennett “a liar”?

Joe never said he was a liar.

Besides, anyone that has read this site on a semi-regular basis the past five years knows full well Joe is an advocate of Bennett.

  141. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    @ Clod

Wake up from the nonsense. Murder rates and crime are apolitical. By your “mayors” slop argument, you can flip the coin and easily say the most dangerous crime ridden states have Republican governors.
Metropolitan citizens overwhelmingly elect Democratic mayors, even in the most red states in this country.

  142. Lamarcus Says:

    Joe.

Bennett is your boy. I get it. I fend for mines too. But why Bennett wasn’t resigned?? They’re has to be more. U don’t let a guy u developed from practice squad go and sign to a team for a 1 year deal after every big free time was gone (like 2 weeks after free agency date I could be wrong) Bucs absolutely didn’t want him back.

Look what his brother pulled on packers. The fear of sucking again and Bennett ” quit” percent goes to 0 to 99 really quick.

  143. Clodhopper Says:

Rhonda. I said “history” They only checked if the history was five years or more of one party. Just look at all the cities that’s had the problems the last few years It’s been over 50 yeas! In most of them. Milwaukee, it’s been 100. I’m talking about when a city votes one party for literal decades with an “s”

Of course going back and forth every so often will have similar results. Duh! That’s a just common sense.

  144. Clodhopper Says:

    Rhonda

If it’s only a local problem, it’s the local governments fault. We all get the same federal government.

  145. Cobraboy Says:

@webster: Methinks you are a product of the public edumacational system because your ignorance of basic civics and current events is only exceeded by your hatred.

The “intelligence community” answers to the POTUS; the POTUS does not answer to them. They are not in a position to dictate what the POTUS sees or not.

And another small factoid: the “intelligence community”, i.e. the CIA and NSA, were created in 1947. Only 13 Presidents, not 44, have been in charge of the “intelligence community.”

Seriously: try to get your GED between shifts at the Burger Doodle, because if ignorance were painful, you’d be on a morphine drip.

  146. Lamarcus Says:

And then Joe. There was some ” I see why the Bucs didn’t want him” moments from Bennett in Seattle.

The pass rush issue is a Mike Smith issue. Msmith believes sacks are overrated and Bennett gets sacks so where is the fit? And for some reason I believe Licht will keep the same guys he has now. Stubborn loyalty.

  147. Joe Says:

But why Bennett wasn’t resigned?? They’re has to be more. U don’t let a guy u developed from practice squad go and sign to a team for a 1 year deal after every big free time was gone (like 2 weeks after free agency date I could be wrong) Bucs absolutely didn’t want him back.

That’s exactly why Joe cannot buy that it was a Dominik call. Dominik was the guy who “found” him and signed him. As you stated, that’s a feather in Dominik’s cap. It seems illogical to believe Dominik wanted him run out. Suits love players that make them look smart. Helps with job security.

Joe was told years ago in confidence by someone who would know who pulled the trapdoor on Bennett (had zero to do with anything off the field, Joe was told).

Joe won’t betray that confidence, sorry. The three Bucs parties involved aren’t talking about it so Joe cannot confirm it, but has a damned good idea.

Bennett is on the record who he thinks is the guilty party, though even he isn’t sure. His guess is better than anyone’s.

    Frustrating. Just beyond frustrating.

  148. Joe Says:

The pass rush issue is a Mike Smith issue.

Him or Jay Hayes (or both).

Here’s something to think about: Name one young player that the current defensive coaching staff has developed at corner or at defensive end? The only players that do anything at those positions are vets.

Hayes developed talent at Cincinnati. That leaves one person left holding the bag.

  149. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    @ Clod

I believe your “history” posted after my link, then you’re countless “prove me wrong” wig outs, you said originally “Every single bad city is democrat ran” and then “in the last few years” in the next post.

  150. Clodhopper Says:

    Rhonda

You just jumped the shark. You can’t even tell time. I hope you’re drunk

  151. Clodhopper Says:

Still ain’t proved me wrong. Look it up for once. Just check. ffs I gave you the respect of reading that article. Why won’t you afford me the same? #NYValues

  152. Cobraboy Says:

Bennett would further depress ticket sales, a financial issue the Glazers most likely care about.

Had he not been a kneeler, a liar regarding the Las Vegas police, and had his brother not been a d-bag, the conversation may be different.

The Glazers already have a huge PR problem in keeping the entire coaching staff of a bad 5-11 team. Bennett is one more headache that is unnecessary, pass rush or not.

Besides: what evidence, other than Bennetts words, that he will be cut loose by the Seahawks? And what evidence he’d even want to come back to a team whose losing coaching staff is on a short leash?

  153. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Didn’t see your “history” post. Idk if it was in moderation or not. I saw like 4 of your comments come out of moderation after. You went all moron with two posts and I called you out on it.

  154. Clodhopper Says:

You’re a dam troll. You’re not from BK. You’re from Russia. Say hi to your husband Boris for me!!

  155. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

And I won’t be trying to “prove” you “wrong” hard head “history of mayors” diatribe wrong with statistics. Like I said, you nimwit, it’s been custom that mayors are donkeys in cities.
You would seriously make a therapists want to hang themselves.

  156. Clodhopper Says:

I hope 45 tweets something stupid tomorrow morning so it ruins your entire day!!

  157. The Anomaly Says:

  159. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

There are more rural towns in America with high crime than there are major cities in the US with high crime. It’s really not a starter to say a political party controls crime in either place. Cities are safer in America, if you don’t believe it, you might think otherwise.

  160. Lamarcus Says:

    Joe

If thats the case let’s right that wrong there. I wouldn’t mind him coming knowing there not much out there to get on the market. Plus he is proven. His attitude is a non issue to me cuz don’t we want more dogs on line anyway?? Get it done Licht

  161. BigHogHaynes Says:

TAKE A KNEE!…KEEP AMERICA FREE! Ain’t a damn thing wrong with it!!

  162. Mr. Ed Says:

Joe has zero credibility until Joe stops pretending some anonymous force let Bennett go.

Mark Dumnik let him go. And Mark Dumnik’s ineptitude has left the Bucs in their own squalor.

Joes, stop pretending Dumnik was some real rock star. He wasn’t, isn’t. He would have a job if that were the case. Dumnik ruined the Bucs so deeply it will take two more regime changes before the poor fans see any light of day.

  163. Dreambig Says:

Problem is that you can’t hire 31 year old Bennet. I can almost promise he won’t be as good next year as he was last year. Its how life works and to debate that is a useless waste of time. Bucs need someone with a bright future. Not a bright past with a dwindling future.

  164. BigHogHaynes Says:

  171. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

  172. Wausa Says:

    I 100% agree with what @Hertz says.
I love the Bucs, but bringing in this cop hating, racist, anti-American, liar would cause me to want the team to loose every game next year.

  173. Cobraboy Says:

    @ Dusthty: Incognito > Sweezy

And he’s going to the playoffs with a formerly bad team.

  174. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    How smart are you Clod?

Oh, I see. You’re capable of a google search to teach me a lesson on something I’m not even arguing with you about.

My day is going just fine.

  175. Clodhopper Says:

Ffs Rhonda. Do you even understand context? Have you read no other comments on this artical besides mine?

Also, you must not have heard 45’s tweet yet this morning. If you did you’d understand the very stable genius of my ability to be like really smart

    Enjoy your evening, Ruskie!

  176. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

Totally agree, Joe. Everything wrong with the Bucs was embodied with that move back in 2912. Gifting a starting job to an unproven guy, cutting a guy in his prime because of the lack of his draft stock, not letting the guys battle and COMPETE. This has been the Buccaneer way for over a decade.

    I love Bennett.
The Bucs need to add a minimum of 8 new faces via free agency and the draft to both lines to battle with the incumbents and improve the starting units and depth of both lines this offseason.

They absolutely need youth. No question.
But that’s the beauty of bringing in 8 guys.
It allows for signing vets like Bennett as well.

    Bring in the 8!

Fix the trenches, fix the Bucs!

  177. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

We were talking about crime, moron. So my day won’t be ruined by your idiotic genius.

Crime rates are apolitical. That’s a fact

  178. Clodhopper Says:

    Lol

You’re the perfect specimen for the Dunning Kruger effect. Congrats. It’s literally pointless talking to you at this point

  179. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

You segue when you’re losing a debate. You always do. I’ve made zero posts about 45 yesterday or today.
But you said it yesterday, that Trump would tweet something stupid today. You know stupid all too well. And you know the short end of debate even better.
    Until next time, Chode

  180. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Comment in moderation, but I’ll give it to simple.

Are we still talking about 45? I never mentioned him yesterday or today, but you segue to stupidity well, especially when you’ve lost a debate.

  181. Clodhopper Says:

Your inability to follow the flow of a conversation is baffling to me.

  182. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Was it a Freudian slip? We’re debating your moronic crime bs, but you want to discuss Trump now?

  183. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

It’s a Fruedian slip. You make stupid comments about crime that are outright lies, then segue into a silly debate about 45 when I didn’t even speak of him.

  184. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

I’m done with your split personality, Chode.

  185. Clodhopper Says:

You’re inability to understand common English, Ruskie, is not me giving false claims. It’s you not understanding common effing english. That’s on you, stupid

  186. Clodhopper Says:

I gave you a specific list of cities. The cities that’s had the most problems the last few year. You REFUSE to look at their history. Refuse. Cuz you know I’m 100% correct and you can’t handle it, troll!

  187. Clodhopper Says:

Then your dumbass says “your wrong based on these stats that have nothing to do with your point”

You are the biggest dumbass I’ve ever had the displeasure to communicate with! Get bent Russian troll.

  188. Clodhopper Says:

    “Split personality”

Code for “I’m not fluent enough in English to understand you. I hope Putin don’t see my english is bad”

  189. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

    Unhinged much, Chodelopper?

Iowans love to deep-fry everything, including their brains.

  190. Clodhopper Says:

    Get fckt Commie

  191. Nate Says:

I get this is a military town,

but you need to listen to seattle’s ex teammate nate boyer felt about capernick kneeling that

AN EX BERET (WAY MORE QUALIFIED THAN YOU RACISTS) CONVINCED HIM THAT FOR A CAUSE IT IS BETTER TO KNEEL THAN SIT BECAUSE IT SHOWS RESPECT LIKE MARRIAGE , PRAYER ETC

THEN AGAIN SOME OF US DONT RESPECT MARRIAGE OR RELIGION ANYWAY

BUT FOR A CAUSE SOME GET MAD WHEN THE MINORITIES WERE ASKED TO FIGHT FOR THE FLAG AND THEN MOST THAT HELPED

“WIN” THE WAR WERE CONDEMED KILLED AND ENSLAVED ANYWAY

    A BIT HIPPOCRITICAL EHHHH…..

  192. Nate Says:

nate dub drops the mic again……..

  193. webster Says:

    Chior boy

You are an idiot. What do you not understand about the intelligence community not given the idiot in chief all of the intel because he cant absorb it or handle it? He hates hearing the russians screwed with our election process because he feels it deminishes he win. Why do you think many in his own cabinet calls him an idiot? The intelligence community works for america you dolt and not the president. The president changes but the intelligence community is constant. You are a idiot.

  194. Clodhopper Says:

    Lol

Webster knows less about civics than Trump

  195. Cobraboy Says:

@webster: You are hilarious, my friend, defending a position contrary to the facts in the National Security Act of 1947. I mean hilarious like my puppy who couldn’t quite understand that he wasn’t supposed to poop in the house.

  196. Cobraboy Says:

    @Clod: maybe he’s “special.”

    https://memeguy.com/photos/images/short-bus-243553.jpg

  197. webster Says:

You are an idiot. The intelligence community works for america. They provide the intel to the sitting president in order for him to make executive decisions. You are the idiot

  198. Clodhopper Says:

Ha ha Cobra. You have to speak his language. Let me try

Webster. The IC reports to the president cuz racism.

There. Maybe that’ll help him. LMAO!!

  199. webster Says:

    Chior boy

You are unpatriotic just like the idiot in chief. When they tell him russia interfered with our election, he takes it as a slight to him as oppose to an attack on our security. Again, the intelligence community does not work for the president. They work for america you idiot

  200. unbelievable Says:

    LOL.

Not surprised, nothing has changed with some of the familiar faces.

They always change / shift the subject when they can’t make a point.

I wonder what the excuses will be when the new disastrous tax plan combines with upcoming student loan crisis and the market taking a deep nosedive back to normal levels? (P/E ratios are out of control right now for stocks, while wages remain stagnant) Hmmmm, anyone remember 2008?

Oh, and 2017 had the lowest amount of jobs created since 2011. Thanks Dump!

  201. Clodhopper Says:

Ain’t none of you looked up those cities did you?

Until you do, STFU cuz you have no leg to stand on. I’m 100% correct and instead of looking it up, you insult. Classic lib BS tactic.

Just look them up you fckn cowards!

  202. Clodhopper Says:

And you can add Detroit to that list too, if you happen to grow a pair and decide to learn something besides your indoctrination

  203. Clodhopper Says:

These are the cities that made the news the last few years.

NY is the exception like I said.

    Milwaukee: Sherburn M Becker 1908 – 1910 =108 Years

    Baltimore: Theodore McKeldin 1963 – 1967 = 51 Years

    Detroit: Louis Miriani 1957 – 1962 = 56 Years

    Cleveland: George Voinovich 1980 – 1989 = 29 Years

    Chicago: William Thompson 1927 – 1931 = 87 Years

    St Louis: Aloys Kaufmann 1943 – 1949 = 69 Years.

    Did I leave any out?

EXACTLY like I said. Thank you, and fck you!

  204. MadMax Says:

*Looks around* ……Damn, Morning cup is BACK!!! Lol!

  205. MadMax Says:

Ive been saying no on Bennett, but we’re hurting so friggin bad for pass rush…..according to how the draft goes, at the right price on the downside of his career I wouldnt mind.

And I stopped caring if they kneel or not…..just kill each other and take each others knees out while entertaining me btches!

  206. MadMax Says:

But a hell yes on Talib! Need help there too.

  207. webster Says:

No wonder idiots like choir boy and clod voted for the idiot in chief. They think the intelligence community works for the president. Nevermind the fact america has a different president every 4 to 8 years. The press secretary works for the idiot in chief and that is why she lies daily for him. The intelligence community works for america and that is why the intel will be the same regardless if its a republican or democrat that is in office you idiots.

  208. TonyC Says:

Quit politicizing players and consider how effective Bennett has been as a pass rusher on a “winning” team. I’d rather have a player with a little bit of passion (even if he makes absurd statements at times). Think back to players in the past who were polarizing but when it counted most (on the field) they delivered.

  209. Trubucfan22 Says:

So if we were stupid for not re signing him to a contract, what does that make the seahawks, who have him under contract and might cut him? He’s decent but not great. I’d rather develop a young stud than bring in bennett who will certainly be less effective at his age. We aren’t talking about a 10 sack guy here. He is a good not great DE. I’d rather sign and draft potentially great players.

  210. greg Says:

If we were 1-2 guys away from the Super Bowl….then fine….sign the scumbag and lets get to the mountaintop…..we are 10-12 guys away from making the playoffs…..he will do more harm than good

  211. godzilla13 Says:

It just took me 45 minutes to scroll down all these comments (about American Presidents and shiet). Take a knee. Micheal Bennett is way better than “decent” and even better than “great”. He is “elite” you boneheads. Just take a look at his last six years excluding 2016 and Bennett produces between 8 and 9 sacks a year, between 8 and 11 “stuff” and somewhere between 30 and 40 tackles per year. With the same production year in and year out. Bringing Bennett back if available should be considered a “gift” for a team that only produced 20 sacks. There is a pretty good chance Chubb wont be there at seven and if he is not, then we either draft “the best guard to be drafted since Logan Mankins” or “the human road grater” or “serves more pancakes than IHOP” G Quenton Nelson (6-5 330), Notre Dame or draft “the best running back to come out of college since “zeek”, “ran a 4.30 40” Saquon Barkley (5-11 223) Penn State? Either way you sign Bennett. Period.
