Jameis To Have MRI

Per winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston will have an MRI on his right shoulder Monday.

It is unknown what specifically Jameis’ injury is or when he can return to play.

After the game, Jameis all but said he would play next Sunday in Buffalo. But Joe knows better than to take a player’s word a week before he’s next supposed to play, much less before he has an MRI.

Jameis told reporters after the game he doesn’t believe he’s ever missed a game due to injury. He said he played two series after the injury and while warming up before a third down, he knew his shoulder “wasn’t right.” Jameis said the issue was pain and he’s had the same injury before.

“If it was my other shoulder it would have been fine,” Jameis said.

The Tampa Bay area now waits while holding its collective breath. The results of the MRI very well could determine the fate of the Bucs season.

Thank god we have that stout offensive line

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Lets hope he’s ok

If jameis is out we are toast and the Gruden whispers will start…

  4. Architek Says:

Jameis probably could use some time to sit and evaluate things. I just don’t see the progressions or trajectory I see with a Wentz and Carr and other young studs.

well you do realize that Jameis was rolling out on that play right???

Once a QB breaks contain, there’s nothing offensive lineman can do within their blocking schemes unless it was a designed QB option or run play…..so his hurt shoulder doesn’t fall on the O-line.

  6. NJBucsFan Says:

He was rolling to the opposite side of where Chandler Jones started. For a DE to scrape across all five OL postitions and still get a hit on your WB is ridiculous

  7. NJBucsFan Says:

    QB*

Now, I do agree with you on that.

  9. NJBucsFan Says:

Chandler Jones started on the opposite side. He should not run across the face of 5 OL and still hit the QB.

  10. FR Says:

Why do people think JW is so good I just dont see it. Screw the numbers and look at the games.

  11. ed chase Says:

we are extremely average at best. Off season needs: two DE that can actually get to the QB and 2 corners.

  12. NJBucsFan Says:

We also need two tackles and maybe a guard or center if Marpet goes back to guard

  13. jimmyjack Says:

FR I like Winston because he has proven ability to play great late in games. He does start games off very cold and I’m starting to blame playcalling completely. You just cant convince me that another HC or Coordinator couldnt get more from this offense in the starts of game. Sorry if you dont agree I just dont believe it.

I’m seeing a lack of run game and a one-dimensional offense led by an off rythm QB. I think our offense is fixable but not seeing Dirk being able to figure it out mid season. He also has shown a lack of adjustment to fix problems from year to year.

Also, Jameis tried to throw that ball and the defender caught his arm in motion. Anyone who has had that happen knows how much stress that puts on the shoulder and supporting musculature

  15. jimmyjack Says:

Why is Marpet still at C? He botches at least one play per game.

Why does Dirk just accept this when no other coach in the league does?

Is this guy the worst coach in the league?

  16. jimmyjack Says:

Dont we have two proven vets on our sideline that are C’s too? Have they even played a snap?

  17. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Sad the gm has screwed up the basics of a team… there was a franchise LT sitting their to be grabbed and the bucs take vernon, then build the defense, not blow an entire year of draft picks… licht set this team back another 3 years, go get a rich mckay disciple or rich mckay and build this defense terrible scouting dept except the one who has the sec west

  18. jimmyjack Says:

A better RT could have held that block on the Winston injury…..It wasnt the worst missed block I ever saw but you need plays like that especially with a QB like Winston who rolls that way quite often.

I wanted a new RT after last year personally but our HC made C his worry.

Now we have a guard playing C and botching plays and a RT that doesnt do anything special for his QB……Meanwhile we invest so much effort into the gut of our line while we abbondon the run game from our first posession most games.

This team just lacks direction and preperation IMO

  19. kennys Says:

is it to early to start talking draft, if dirk can’t turn this thing around how about we bring back gruden

  20. jimmyjack Says:

Dusty I hear ya…….Licht wanted to keep D.Smith at LT and Smith’s best ability comes in the run game. Licht also invests heavily in Sweezy(another run blocker) and Marpet(runblocker) moves to C to make room to get another run blocker on the field……….Yet the team plays mostly one dimensional to start games with passing.

What I wanna know is why our Oline is built to run and we have no run game to speak of……….Is this on Licht or Dirk?

  21. NJBucsFan Says:

D Smith should have been shifted to guard

  22. Capt. Blighe Says:

Jameis is good NFL QB, our hopes were he would be great.
The truth is he is a 3 year starter, he is not going to transform into an accurate passer. He is what he is. This defense has no edge pass rushers at all. And a secondary that could get better but right now they are terrible.
The chances of winning in Buffalo are not good. 8-8 is probably the best case.

  23. jimmyjack Says:

Well we still have a great punting game. Aside from that we have hope(BUCSBALL)

  24. Tgregs Says:

    Pro Bowler? What a joke

  25. jimmyjack Says:

Captain…….Winston plays for a team that was obvisously unprepared. How great can he be?

And I realize he misses many throws to start games but given how wildly unprepared we are every game I’m starting to think better coaching could get more out of Winston with better gameplanning.

And you have to know as a TB fan it wouldnt be the first time a player underachieved in this city.

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

Other than that one interception at the 1 yd line, Fitz did a respectable job.

  27. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Why not Monken for OC…Dirk still will be HC…

Trust me it’s the playcalling with Jameis!
First year playing at FSU he had a top notch offense and defense, he was
The inexperience QB, but they played lights out

2nd year not as much talent, but he and Jimbo bounced off of each other what was happening on the field hence the fiery discussions…but by halftime adjustments were made…slow starts but effective outcome!

Monken seems better dialed in to me

  28. JameisDungy Says:

    Architek

Derek Carr is having his struggles this year as well. His advanced stats are horrible (surprisingly)

But yea Jameis needs to start scoring TDs period. Cause at the end of the day he’s gotta be good enough no matter the poor play calling or not.

Also I hate to say this. I’m not sure if a healthy Jameis scores 33+ on the Cardinals. When its a blowout Jameis doesn’t seem to “pad” stats well or handle being down so many points. He gets too aggressive like in the Vikings game.

  29. Capt. Blighe Says:

Monken is OC, but Koetter calls the plays

  30. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    Playcalling to 2 different QB’s🤔

  31. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

OC needs to call the plays!…couldn’t hurt

  32. jimmyjack Says:

Nole-Did you see Ari play Phi last week?

Philly was hitting wide open recievers over the middle all game. They had their secondary shouting at each other by the 4th Qtr.

I thought we would try to exploit that same area but Winston was looking sidelines from the set. Brate was his best reciever as the lone guy working the middle, aand as 2nd, 3rd option. Embarassing gameplan

  33. JameisWin55 Says:

It seems to me we keep recycling average at best coaching which is the problem. Look at teams like Rams hire McVay young creative offensive mind that has Goff looking good imagine what he could do with Jameis and this offensive core we hire Koetter who was not even on college football radars for head coach.

  34. jimmyjack Says:

And quit putting Simms in the slot unless your sure he can make a play.

All they have done with Simms is use him in the wrong positions……They did it last year and again this year. The use of Simms baffles me…..as does the reason why OJ Howard even gets on the field.

  35. Sunny Says:

BRING IN KAP , can’t deny he got skills, and adding his running ability to our weapons we can stay afloat until JW return .

Don’t dare tell me u rather have fitz

  36. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    @jimmyjack
    Did you say gameplanning🤣

I bet on JW…put him In the shotgun and let HIM play with what he sees…he could do it…and his accuracy would improve…if offense protects him while scrambling.

Every way JW use to play has been tampered with trying to rebuild him…instead of improving on his positive attributes by effective game planning.

The same posters who go ballistic when JW throws an interception ignore…the other QB’s who throw at least one every game, including Fitz 2 and Carson’s 1.

I refuse to call some on here fans, I rather call them posters.

  37. JameisDungy Says:

Why is OJ Howard only getting getting 1 or 2 targets a game?

  38. Mr. E Nigma Says:

Even Deshaun Watson doesn’t understand why it takes Winston three years to develop into a competent player.

  39. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Sit Jameis awhile so he can think about his accuracy issues and then bring in Kap…why not? What have we got to lose? Another few games!!?? lol..

  40. Bob in Valrico Says:

There are often things during the game attributed to coach or QB during the game by fans that may be incorrect. Koetter may call a play may call the play, but what Jameis sees or what receiver he throws to is up to Jameis. Often the coach
will answer a question and the receiver and or QB were not on the page.
I will say this Koetter has given Jameis opportunities last year and this
to hit receivers deep and they are mostly overthrown. He has to start hitting some of these to open up the offense. And he hast to get Mike Evans in the game early. It was good to see Fitzpatrick connect with Evans 3 times for 93 yards.

  41. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Well said Bob…Overthrown or underthrowns..

We can’t use the excuse no weapons for Jameis! My God he has an artillery on that field!

  42. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t matter. Next man up. Its called..Football. Look at the Texans, the Pats..Lotta other teams..They get it done no excuses. We lost. Bruce Arians slacked his intensity a little. Watch Monday morning. Coulda/Woulda/Shoulda. We are a bad team. 2-3 says that. And 6 of the next 8 are on the raod. Ruck up Bucs…You got a lot heading your way..Mpbody feels sorry for you. NEXT!! .

  43. Rob Says:

    No, really, stay down.

  44. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Let JW go and we will see where the weak link is…he may not be perfect, but he isn’t being coached or played up to his potential.

Sadly enough I like Dirk but…something isn’t clicking

  45. SB Says:

HUUUUGE Elephant in the room right now!!!

  46. daveman Says:

On the second offensive play of the game, the Cards blew coverage. I think it was evans running a go up the left sideline. The corner was playing outside leverage like he had a safety to help.. but he didn’t. The entire deep middle was open. This is the easiest deep throw a pro QB can make. Just throw it long and towards the middle of the field. Evans had 3-4 yards separation horizontally. A sort of decent throw and it’s a 40 yard gain at least. Jameis had good protection and throws the ball….. long and to the outside, where the only player who had a chance was the corner.

You can talk about playcalling and GMs and all that, but there was a chance to settle the game down while losing 7-0 and tie it up. But we wind up punting a few plays later.

This is the kind of bad accuracy/dumb throw that is killing this team game in and game out. Jameis is just not that good. He’s better than all the scrub QBs, but definately worse than all the good ones.

Who knows, maybe they’ll fix his shoulder and he’ll have a completely new arm that can make accurate throws like that movie where the 12 year old comes back from an injury and pitches in the major leagues. Wait, that’s not believable. Jameis would never become an accurate passer.

  47. Shane Says:

    JW won’t miss a game

  48. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

So Daveman, you use to be a QB? So cool!☠

  49. daveman Says:

“The Tampa Bay area now waits while holding its collective breath. The results of the MRI very well could determine the fate of the Bucs season.”

Good grief. The fate of a season due to QB injury is happening in Green Bay. The distance between Rogers and Jameis is like from here to the moon. The distance between Jameis and Fitzpatrick is like from RayJay to the nearest strip club. Fitzpatrick is a scrub QB to be sure, but Jameis is scrub++ at this point.

  50. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Daveman how long did you play, and what was your stats? Man it is freat to have so many accomplished football players as fans, that’s why TB is so unique.GO BUCS☠

  51. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    GREAT*

  52. NFLNut Says:

    ***************

    Daveman,

You’re another JW-bashing loon … and apparently don’t watch any other QBs play as Jameis is putting the past two MVP’s, Big Ben, Derek Carr and most other QBs this year to shame … carry on with your insanity …

    ***************

  53. daveman Says:

I don’t need to have played to see. You can try using some other logical fallacies (try straw man after you get tired of ad-hominem).

  54. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

So does that mean you really don’t know what you are talking about or you really don’t know what you are seeing or is the hatred of JW blinding you?

  55. BritishColumbiaBuc Says:

The Bucs let us down today, and there is definitely a habbit of such. We have good players, we have a good coach, we have a good GM… It’s almost like they are scared to release the potential… One could compare the Augayo ‘yips’ to actually define the entire team. You think about the past losers we’ve had on this team that were supposed to be ‘somebody’ — Lovie, Mark, Raheem, Greg, and then players who are great in their new homes like Bennet and Talib, the pressure to not be a loser is too much. The Buccaneers staff and players go home thinking ‘I don’t want to F up’ and their brains should be going ‘Yeah we’re for real’ culture change is not in fact there. How do we fix it? No idea… But when I read the comments on here during game time and see a bunch of you guys talking about the draft after one TD against us makes me think that as fans, we are not helping. It’s obviously a vicious circle. Rather then jumping to Koetter, Jameis and Licht are idiots, Hargreaves is a bust, Martin is a drug addict and GMC should work at Dairy Queen, we should be supporting our team. The Culture change starts with us, the FANS! If our team thinks that we think they are losers then what’s the point of them even playing?? Why do you even turn on your TV or wear your Bucs jersey? We are so use to being losers, we are basically encouraging it! We don’t need to fire everyone AGAIN! We need to Believe!! We beat KC last year and started a serious run, who says we can’t do it again? Because we are DEFINITELY a better team this year

  56. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    NJBucsFan Says
“Chandler Jones started on the opposite side. He should not run across the face of 5 OL and still hit the QB.”

Because all those oline guys were just standing around doing nothing?

    This was simply bad luck.

  57. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

daveman, expecting Jameis as a young QB to be like Aaron is just wrong. Aaron is a long time vet, a much more experienced QB.

I imagine Brett Favre was considered a scrub by Green Bay fans at first too. Mike Holgrem (sp) had to be talked out of benching him multiple times when Brett was starting out.

Just imagine how history would have changed had Mike benched him.

These things take time. Surely you didn’t think a franchise quarterback came ready-made from college? They still have to be developed with an eye toward the future.

And Jameis would have had a lot more wins if he hadn’t had so many scrub pass catchers his first two years.

Remember also that this offense is developing along with him.

  58. Roy T. Buford Says:

Koetter is 11-10. After BUF, can’t call him “winning” any more. Sad to say.

  59. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Cwis Says
“If jameis is out we are toast and the Gruden whispers will start…”

And there is the real agenda for the Koetter and Licht bashers. You guys think that Gruden will return if the Glazers fire them.

Not going to happen. Gruden is all talk, or did you not learn that when he was here before? He’s not going to leave his perfect job. Not going to happen.

He just likes being the center of attention.

So fire koetter and Licht and you really set things back.

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Licht may take chances in drafts, but he is also the best drafting GM this team has ever had. This last draft wasn’t blockbuster, but it is turning out better than I expected. Still, he had a multiple years fun of great drafts…gotta expect the occasional dud.

And while I have hated his free agent skills in the past…it’s time I give him some credt for the last couple years. Heck, even Swaggy is producing now.

As to Koetter, the lockerroom is 100% behind him. He’s a great coach, whether you see it or not. He just needs to run his offense like he did in Atlanta. Fast-paced, no huddle. A lot of short passes.

Want DJax more involved? Throw him shorter passes.

And speaking of DJax, I’m not seeing the speed. He is consistently covered deep, when we were sold on him outrunning coverage. THAT’S why he and Ja eis have not connected deep. Jameis was told he couldn’t overthrow him because of the speed, but DJax is NEVER open deep.

  61. dis Says:

You guys are ridiculous. It’s the NFL. We keep getting teams coming off bad losses. No one to blame, but the WANT. Cards WANTED it. And they got it.

By the way, I’m not going to count them, but Jameis threw less interceptions than I’d say at least 90% of the league QBs today and you are still complaining about ….Jameis.

    Frickin’ hilarious!!

We are fine. The schedule hasn’t been kind and two good teams coming off losses in a row is hard to handle. Injuries. Trades. You name it. It only takes 2 or 3 plays a game to win or lose. But we a talented bunch. Giving up now and consistently complaining about every single frickin’ play is just ridiculous.

Bills won’t know what hit them:)

  62. dis Says:

And Jameis is our QB for years to come. So either flour him or get over it. Lol

  63. FortMyersDave Says:

dis: by your logic the Bucs should go up to Buffalo and have an “inspired” game. Bills are a team with some issues on offense and a strong D, much like the Cards and they seem to play at home well so the Bucs will be in the underdog role unlike being favored like in Minnesota or Arizona…. I hope you are right and the Bucs show up with a chip on their shoulder and that Koetter and Smith actually create a game plan where the Bucs score first and the D does not get exposed like it was in the desert and by the Vikes back up qb on their 2 previous road trips. I like your enthusiasm dis but this team suddenly is playing their away games like Lovie’s Bucs were playing at home; uninspired and mistake filled! Thus the road L streak is now 4 and counting. Hope you are right ds and the Bucs find their way to 3-3….

  64. FortMyersDave Says:

Bonzai, unfortunately for Licht it does appear that one of his draft duds is VH3. Now the kid is not only playing scared and letting every pass get by him but he is now loafing on plays. The guy was #11 overall and the Bucs passed on filling some very legit needs to draft the minute CB from Gainesville…. A reach on day 2 may be acceptable but your 1st rounder has to produce and I do not see it in VH3. The occasional dud is expected but the whole 2016 Buc draft looks pretty worthless right now and that takes a lot of the luster off of the home runs Licht hit in 2015….

  65. Buc1987 Says:

“Jameis was told he couldn’t overthrow him because of the speed, but DJax is NEVER open deep.”

Well said Bonzai, well said and true.

  66. Ed Says:

Not true there have been 3 games where DeSean had 3 or 4 yards of separation and nothing between him and the end zone except a ball dropping to the ground 5 yards in front of him

  67. 813bucboi Says:

What I wanna know is why our Oline is built to run and we have no run game to speak of……….Is this on Licht or Dirk?

that’s on DIRK!!!….you have to play to the strength of the players….just like him calling a pass play for doug and run up the gut for sims…WTF….GO BUCS!!!

  68. unbelievable Says:

    Bonzai-

Be careful with all this truth and reasoning you are bringing in the comments sections today my friend.

This is JBF, ain’t nobody got time for that!
