Coach Koetter talks spotlight management

Your Buccaneers have had issues this season dealing with the spotlight.

It’s like they’ve been deer in the headlights of national relevance.

Who could forget how the team collapsed after throttling the Falcons in Atlanta on opening day.

Demar Dotson’s words to Joe in Arizona following the Desert Disaster in Week 2 were crushing. The Bucs had thought their poop didn’t stink.

Dirk Koetter knows the team is riding high again and wants to see them manage all the accolades and attention their three-game winning streak has brought forth, so he said on SiriusXM NFL Radio today.

“That’s going to be a good test for us because we got a little extra publicity this week. Our players (laughs), you know, it was busy around One Buc Place with the media,” Koetter said. “So this will be a good test for our maturity. I can’t emphasize enough how good of a football team I think the San Diego Chargers are.”

The Bucs can’t afford a slow start on this California trip, or to come “flat” in this massive game. The Chargers, who have scored the third-most points in the NFL, aren’t the 49ers.

The CHargers are very unlucky with injuries this year but there are quite à lot of very good players in this team.

If we understesimate them, we will be in big trouble.

We need at least a start as good as the one last week.

  2. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Extra publicity may not be an issue after this week…

    …but I HOPE it is!

This is a winnable game, but nothing is written in stone. I hope the players keep the same attitude they had last week.

  3. Kobe Faker Says:

Even with all the injuries, San D is still scoring 28 pts per game and 4th best off in the NFL.

Reason is San D is balanced with the emergence of melvin Gordon and the run. They are not 1 dimensional and can pass and run.

Smitty like all def coordinators want to shut 1 phase but it is very difficult with the chargers. Tomorrow you will see Mccoy and wisenhunt calling pass when it seems run and vise versa…none like our predictable clowns run-run-pass

so how does old slow Rivers still play in the league? Because the ball is out and fast. what we learned last week is Wilson cant throw in the pocket and holds the ball rolling out. Rivers will have the ball out in 2 seconds and is very accurate

San D short passing attack and alots alots of Melvin Gordon on the menu

  4. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Man o man I hope they(charger) are in a pass happy mood tomorrow. Yesterday on nfl live teddy brushi’s bold prediction for the game was bosa will sack Famous 3x. I’m like “that must be some good medical he smoking”.

  5. Doctor Stroud Says:

This absolutely needed to be said, and I hope that all Bucs players internalize it and break the win, media lovefest, big loss, hatefest cycle.

  6. Bucsfan951 Says:

Yay Kobe broke his promise and is back… Yes!

  7. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

Kobe I thought you were never posting again – what gives?

  8. yrbndr Says:

Kobe go away! Keep your word! You said something semi positive but wait… here comes your negative rant!

  9. Buccfan37 Says:

I’m feeling uneasy about this game. I imagine no more uneasy than the average fan would feel after their team won three straight games.

  10. German Buc Says:

Yessss! Kobe Faker is back again and spreads out his negativeness. All real fans should be happy, ’cause that’s a very good sign for the Bucs!
