Changing The Culture

Fisting the Bucs the right way.

Fisting the Bucs the right way.

The newfound love of the Bucs from national types continued this morning when Mr. Beasting himself, Bucs defensive end Robert Ayers, joined the “Good Morning Football” crew live from One Buc Palace, seen on NFL Network.

Ayers, who coined the verb “beasting” in training camp, explained that despite the Bucs currently tied for first place, there is much work to be done including the unfinished business of changing the culture at One Buc Palace.

Ayers almost sounded like Warren Sapp.

While happy with the recent success of the team, Ayers emphasized the Bucs are not yet a finished product.

“We are excited, man,” Ayers said. “Most importantly we have big goals this season. The expectation is high. We are trying to change the way things are around here. Trying to get things going in the positive direction.”

On why the Bucs have become such a dominant defense in the past five weeks, Ayers essentially admitted it was an attitude adjustment by the defense.

“We are just hungry,” Ayers said. “Have to give credit to the coaching staff. We just bought into it. We took an oath to each other to dial in on what we needed to do. We needed to emphasize the importance of communication and hunting. It has really showed up the last couple of weeks.

“We can still make a lot of improvements. We are still looking to hunt and be a dominant defense and create our own legacy and start this thing in the right direction.”

Joe always likes to read between lines because that is often how you get the true story of what an NFL employee is saying. They are conditioned by team and league staffers how to talk and, in some respects, told what to say.

The more Ayers talks about changing things and getting in the right direction, given that he was part of two successful franchises (Denver and the New York Giants) before coming here, tells Joe what a punching bag the Bucs were considered to be by others around the NFL.

How refreshing it is to hear a man of Ayers’ experience talk openly about righting the pirate ship.

Tomorrow, Joe will bring you Ayers’ words on sharing the Bucs’ stage with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Guessing you don’t have the platform to coin a phrase like Ayers.

You may have used the phrase as a verb before, but who would know unless you trademarked it?

Ghost Johnson will forever haunt Bucs fans. His shadow will live in Bucs lore just like Sabby the Goat and Myron Lewis.

after 2 years of lovie, and you need to read between the lines to know that???

    @love and warrick dunn

my informants have told me that things are not good!!! he has been reported to be institutionalized, and just mumbles “what happen, what, what happened”!!! over and over again!!!!

He was last seen in publix being carried out, because he tried a 1 man protest of uncle ben’s rice because it was “oppressive”!!! I do not hope that thing in 2017 go his way because that would mean the the Bucs have a bad year!!!!

    RIP poster BigHogHeinous!!!!!!

You know Realist you guys need to get another grown man off your minds as much as he stays on it. It’s not healthy. The punching bag syndrome began with the last 4 games of Grudens tenure thru the Rah Rah years and Chiano your love beast. But even Rah gave us a 10-6 season . So Lovie dovie didn’t begin it. All he did was tank a season to get Fameis then helped him mature as a man. So Smith is gone so why do you guys live the misery over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?????????

Based on Kobe’s writing style (or his caps button is broken), he posted here before under a different name (but is too scared to admit it). I expect him to change it again soon, as everyone sees through his BS.

Also, @ Realist lolololol . HOW COME THE GREEN OLIVES ARE IN A JAR, BUT THE BLACK OLIVES ARE IN A CAN?!?!?!?!

  13. LargoBuc Says:

Realist this team was a punching bag long before Lovie got here. Lovie did, however, fail. So that should bring a smile to your face.

  14. Defense Rules Says:

@Ayers … ‘“We can still make a lot of improvements.’ That attitude is most impressive of all. Bucs defense has improved dramatically since the beginning of the year, but they’re not a finished product … yet. It all starts up-front as so many have said before. Our 5 core DLine guys (McCoy, McDonald, Ayers, Gholston & Noah Spence) are doing fantastic, but we still need the other 5 DLine guys (Hughes, Lambert, Siliga, Russell & Akeem Spence) to grab more & more snaps each game to give them relief in the rotation.

  15. Lunchbox Says:

@Joe, not sure what you mean by the caption to the picture above, but it doesn’t sound good lol

  16. BuccoBill Says:

    Per Robert Ayers :

    “and create our own legacy”

How ’bout that for reading between the lines!

  17. Gilhealy Says:

I do believe we will rotate the d line quite a bit this week. Stay fresh, wear out the ‘Boys O line, and win the trenches. I can see Siliga getting a lot of snaps to clog up the middle, and force their running game outside. They have given up 6 sacks over the last two weeks, so we can for sure get home. This is gonna be fun to watch. I doubt I’ll sit at all the first half. I’ve worn out the carpet pacing and clapping encouragement. We’re goin’ hunting!

Lol, that’s funny joe, you need a lot more WSHH in your life.

  19. America's Commenter Says:

Sorry Joe, but “beasting” is military slang from the early 2000’s.

  20. SOEbuc Says:

I’ve been saying all year that if we wanna draft a DE in round 1 that I want Derek Barnet from Tennessee. Might be harder to get with us moving down the board but the kid is a freakin beast and would be the perfect pupil for Ayers. Noah and Barnet on each side of the D line would destroy.

  21. James Walker Says:

@Joe: Myron Lewis…bah! Tim Wansley was the death of a Superbowl team!
