The Beat(down) Continues

December 21st, 2015
Still no playoff win.

Still no playoff win.

It seems like ages ago when Chucky hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy aloft in victory on a chilly Sunday evening as Tampa Bay erupted in glee.

All was right with the world.

At that moment, if someone would have offered you a wager that the Bucs would go over a decade without winning another playoff game, the you likely would have put your house up for the bet.

Well, after yesterday’s games, it became official that the Bucs missed the postseason again. The Custodian of Canton, eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune, Twittered his insight as to what went wrong in this recent push for the playoffs.

That’s enough to make Joe want to toss a chair across the room. How can a team coached by an alleged defensive guru stink worse than a Porta Potty in July? Just unreal.

Of course, also in his Twitter feed, Kaufman suggests Team Glazer is wrapped in “torment” that the Bucs can’t get to the playoffs, much less win a playoff game.

Forget about the playoffs!!! If the Saints win tonight, The Bucs will be in Last Place of the Division!!!! Again!!!!!!!

Ya I think that’s a lot of the problem, maybe. That Twitter link you provided pays mention to Man U reaching similar lows this year. How much focus is provided to owning your NFL team when you also own the most popular soccer club in the world? Are you telling me Steinbrenner could have run and overseen the Yanks and Bucs – and that the Yanks would have been as good? Or how about picturing Jerry Jones running Man U as well.

Our ownership feels like they’re so far removed from the scene. It feels more like we’re owned by a board of trustees. You don’t think that has anything to do with our decade+ of futility.

Thankfully now all of that silly playoff talk and nonsense can stop. The Bucs in no way right now resemble a playoff team and now maybe they can start thinking about next year and after and build that “lasting contender” that they always talk about

MUFC is worth billions and is (I think) the most popular sports team on the planet. The Bucs are maybe the fifth most popular team in a state that doesn’t even care about professional sports. The Bucs are the Glazers cash cow with the vast majority of their money tied up in MUFC.

It’s sad but true, but the Glazers will never care about the Bucs until they start shedding cash. Until that day comes, the only success we have will be by accident, not by great ownership.

  5. Captain Crunch Says:

A good coach knows how to adjust and game-plan to the strengths of his players and admit his scheme isn’t working but not Lovie who just keeps pushing his scheme on players and wont change it b/c he’s stubborn.

  6. ruggyup Says:

Uh, bucright, if you owned the team with as much money as the Glazers would you put more money into it as it is presently organized? Or would you clean house and spend serious $$ on a proven management team that will work towards your expectations. You might even ask around and find out how the Orlando City Soccer Club became an overnight smash hit and has the second most Google searches of any sports team in the country. Vision is power.

  7. bucrightoff Says:

Ruggyup, if I were the Glazers and I was guaranteed to make about $50 million in cash every year no matter how the Bucs performed, why would I care how they perform? In some ways the NFL TV deal is a huge disincentivizer because teams are guaranteed to be profitable because of it. The Glazers don’t care about winning, it’s money they care about.

  8. The Buc Realist Says:

Maybe Lovie misheard the Glazers for the ” Lasting Pretender ” and maybe that’s why he thinks he is doing a great job!!!!!

  9. St.pete 77 Says:

No playoffs next year, you have to go Lovie!!

  10. Buccfan37 Says:

I thought I read earlier that the Lovie confidence poll was today, must be tomorrow. His confident or above votes will still top 50%. Again, wear your Lovie like heaven.

Love Master needs to go. If Koetter leaves they should hire Todd Haley as HC. He can take Jameis to a different level.
