“We’ve Been In A Losing State Of Mind”

November 8th, 2015

LavontetrainingcampJoe has talked a lot on radio about how the new breed of Buccaneers are not beaten down and brainwashed by years of garbage football.

Their attitude is extremely healthy, versus the brains of guys like Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy and others.

Don’t believe Joe?

David hopped on his Buccaneers Radio Network show this week and talked about how many positives can be pulled from the win in Atlanta, in all phases of the Bucs’ game. That carryover and energy, David said, can lead to a streak and break what’s ailed him.

“It’s all a mindset, man, I think it’s all a mindset,” David said. “To be honest, man, we’ve been losing and that kind of probably built a state of mind or whatever. We’ve been in a losing state of mind.”

Joe notes this because America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, Kwon Alexander, Ali Marpet, Mike Evans and others in the young wave of Bucs would never contemplate a loser mentality. Remember when 21-year-old Alexander said too many Buccaneers have lost sight of playing in a fun, fast and loose manner? Remember when David admitted to cracking mentality after the first snap of opening day?

Another guy you wouldn’t hear go to the loser card is Logan Mankins, who was only guy Joe could find in the Falcons-Bucs postgame locker room talking about the playoff race.

David added that he never saw so many guys so angry after the Redskins choke job. Considering all the losing endured during David’s four seasons, that’s saying a lot.

It is the young army of new Bucs that is pulling the team from the depths of the NFL. Are they strong enough to even the record today?

Joe, you do very well to go out and get real stories, and do real analysis that make the reader think. Keep up the great work!

  3. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Agree with Bucs Fans 1963!

Props to you Joe for the work you do

I think it’s been obvious for years that LVD is simply stating the truth.

Loser’s mentality is a hard thing to break. It was Father Dungy’s greatest contribution to the Bucs. I think this is what the Glazers and the Lovie supporters are hoping to see.

I’m a charachter guy more than a guy who cheers loudmouth Badassessss.
Being a loudmouthed badasssss doesn’t prevent you from being a good football player…although it’s been taught over and over again that anger eliminates your intellect. Anger on the football field can be mitigated because the players don’t really need to think. But a smart thinking football player will win in the long run.

Give me the LeeRoy Selmons, DB55’s, Warrick Dunns, Mike Alstotts etc…or…

Fameis…Ali…and Kwon. There are three guys who bring true charachter and competitive fire to our locker room.

There are still several stiffs on this team like ASJ that don’t care. They must be replaced with passionate players.

  5. godzilla13 Says:

How do you know ASJ does not care? Did you speak to him or any other player who has direct access to him?

    You da man joe!

In my opinion the two biggest losers on this team are David and McCoy. This team does not need their poor attitudes. The two of them are use to losing and that to me is the mindset that these two bring to the Bucs. It’s almost as if they are comfortable with the losing cause it didn’t make them have to step up and become the leaders of this team. They could just keep playing for themselves and collect their huge(mostly undeserved) pay checks. Why else would McCoy want to keep Winston down and advise him not to take on a leadership role.

I say, out with the old in with new. If it’s broke fix it or move on. I’m a new fan, and I’ve personally have been annoyed with McCoy and most of the defenses perpetually losing words, play and mindset. Winning teams and players don’t talk or think like they do. It seems to be holding the entire team back. Too much money and not enough hunger anymore. Coasting….pisses me off actually!

  9. Newbucsfan Says:

    Holding ‘back’

But in ld’s defense, at least he is acknowledging it. Maybe now he’ll move to the next step, and Do Something About It. Maybe just copy JWs attitude would be a good place to start in his recovery process!
