Key Is Jameis

Today's game may very well rest on Jameis' shoulders.

Today’s game may very well rest on Jameis’ shoulders.

If a Giants pattern plays out like it has this year, the key for the Bucs to beat New York today and pull to 4-4 is how well America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston plays.

If he continues to elevate his game like he has the past three weeks or so, the Bucs should win. If he has a ho-hum game, maybe the Bucs win.

If he throws picks, the Bucs will lose. That’s what Dave Blezow of the New York Post believes.

The Giants have played three different classes of quarterbacks this season. Against the elite quarterbacks — Tony Romo, Matt Ryan and Drew Brees — they are 0-3. Against the next level, experienced quarterbacks who have had some success but are currently having issues — namely Sam Bradford and Colin Kaepernick — they are 1-1. Facing the bottom level — neophyte Tyrod Taylor, up-and-comer Kirk Cousins and clipboard-holder Matt Cassel — they are 3-0.

Decide for yourself where Jameis Winston fits. He’s 3-4 but has won at New Orleans and Atlanta, beating two of the elite QBs listed above.

This will come down to whether the Giants can turn Winston over. They are tied for the NFL lead with 13 interceptions. Winston has thrown seven, but none in the last three games. This is a redemption game for the Giants’ defense, which also should get a lift from the return of Jason Pierre-Paul up front. And the Buccaneers’ D will be challenged severely by Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr.

It turns Joe’s stomach just to think what Eli Manning might do with Odell Beckham. The Bucs are the sorriest excuse for a pass defense Joe can remember in a long while. And all quarterbacks sure seem to be able to move the ball against the Bucs, completing 71 percent of throws this season.

There is somebody kind of new coming after jameis today the giant DE that blown some of his fingers off the last 4th of july. Just thought that I would POINT that out..lol.. Go Bucs…

Elite QBs will be 4-0 against the giants after today.
    Let’s rock #3.

The key to this game will be the same as others…

    Our ability to run….and turnovers.

I envy you Joe, I still remember 2012 . Lest we forget.

I expect Jameis to air it out today because he has to. Our defense will be lit up like a roman candle so we will need to throw the ball just to keep up. We should see the first 300 yard game from Jameis today.

@MAYNE…. I am surprise Joe missed this glaring FACT!!!!!

JOE, how did you miss this???

    JPP couldn’t hold Ali’s lunch….

Ali will domenate JPP hand down….

Although JPP is the best 3 down line man we will have faced this year…. Its his first game back….. I expect he will be a bit slow out of his three point stance…. Even though he will be a force… I don’t think he will be blowing us up and he will likely be limited to a hand full of plays…

Agree with TBBF. We need to have a great running game and burn clock to keep the ball out of Eli’s hands.

This game frightens me. We could have a repeat of the past two games. Score well…even run up a big lead only to watch Eli bring the Giants back through our porous do not prevent defense.

As much as I hope #3 has a big game, I’m really rooting more for Martin this game. Doug is the key. He burns clock as well as yards for us.

I don’t like these late afternoon Sunday games. It’s hard enough waiting for the 1pm start. Time drags when you can’t wait for the game to begin. I think I’ll cue up “Surfin Bird” by the Trashmen from 1963, real loud, a classic. I just ignore the neighbors glares. Come on Bucs!

Thankfully it doesn’t rest on the shoulders of ASJ!

    Good one…lol..

Jameis will be ok. Truth be told it’s how well America’s Pop Warner grown men defense plays. Jameis as always can n will overcome any mistake he makes… it just doesn’t show on the stat sheet when he makes up for a mistake with a good play n the receiver drops the ball or lineman gets a bonehead penalty. On the other hand, once the defense make a mistake, it becomes a domino affect. So the problem is not Jameis…it’s Lovie n his defense.

A slap or two to that club he’ll be wearing should slow JPP down a bit. Get ’em Ali!

  16. Buccfan37 Says:

I expect Winston to continue to improve. You hinted he may be due for some turnovers seeing how he hasn’t had any lately. To go turnover free by the Bucs today is what will make this game competitive and within winning. We get 2 of theirs and they get none off us. I gotta guess at something.

  17. Buccfan37 Says:

I trust the Bucs will neutralize JPP and make him a non factor. Figures we would get his season debut. I usually pull for past USF players who make the pros, not this guy, he didn’t play long enough at USF. Speaking of the Bulls, nice win at ECU. USF has set themselves up nicely to appear in the bottom of the barrel bowl in St. Pete.

  18. Mo_Downs Says:

JPP will be more of a distraction than a weapon.

This dude hasn’t played in how long? Yeah, he’ll have fresh legs and could play more snaps. But, will he be effective?

Was he trending upward last season, declining or just holding his own?

I’m surprised that any of the Buc faithful would fall for this fake-out.

I keep reading how Ali will be matched against JPP. He plays LDE and should be matched against our RT.

    Bucs 31 – Giants 23

    Go Bucs…!!!
