Lovie Locks Up The Double

November 15th, 2015

lovie 0922In Joe’s last 24-hour Lovie Smith confidence poll on Tuesday, only 1/3 of Bucs fans said they were confident or better in Lovie Smith.

Hmm, Joe wonders what data will emerge in this week’s poll.

Lovie has now doubled his win total from last season, developed a quarterback, and has the Bucs out of last place and in a real playoff hunt.

That’s all good stuff. And coaches are judged on the totality of their performance.

Joe brings this up because there are still legions of Bucs fans eagerly hoping for the local demise of Lovie. And for these fans, things are slipping away faster panties at Mons Venus.

Joe doesn’t engage in such nonsense. Joe roots for the Bucs and wants nothing more than for the team to succeed, though if a coach’s time is up, then there’s no reason to hang on.

Lovie’s in a good spot right now, and the Bucs are primed to triple their win total (at least) from last season.

He also seems to have found 2 RELIABLE CBs!

As I’ve said before, wasn’t a fan when the Glazer’s decided to go “Back, To The Future”…but once the decision was made you have to give a competent coach some room to build his team, his way. As Pittsburgh and New England have proven – if you hire a good coach who’s had success in this league, then coaching consistency leads to consistent winning.

However, if Lovie wants to dump Mrs Frazier…I’m ALL in…

Salute to D.Smith, held his own against hardy and Gregory today.

    Remember, this was the cowgirls.

    Remember, weak schedule.

I expect to see at least .500 by years end.

You mean Mons Venus or Fire Lovie nonsense? Either way, good for you.

I really hope this is the last entry on Lovie’s coaching status. He will be the head coach next year. The Bucs are an improved football team and the arrow is pointing up. Anyone who continues this Fire Lovie nonsense is just appealing to the lowest common denominator (i.e. the peanut gallery).

Just because Lovie needs to and should be replaced that doesn’t mean people are pulling for the bucs to lose. All wins are good but let’s put it in perspective. Lovie led bucs have yet to win back to back games and 3 of the 4 wins were against fellow bottom feeders and 1 gift victory from atl.

  7. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Well he is actually earning some of my trust back and its because he is turning what was steaming fresh hot sh!t of a defense into a pretty stout group. Still need a cb a s and a de. But jude and sterling are working out great right now

Bucs are 4-5 Joe and the win today was nice but the losses in Houston and especially DC makes a fan realize that this team would be 6-3 if it had a competent head coach! Yeah, it looks like Lovie will get to that magic 6 win mark and get a third year though he still has to get the wins, we can not just hand them out and in all honesty this Dallas team will be the weakest opponent the Bucs will face for the rest of the year unless things really come apart in NO who lost to DC 47-14. It was a week for upsets: Jags won, Bears won (suddenly that automatic W everyone thought the Bucs might get vs the Bears is not a gimme!), Lions won and the bucs won and cost a lot of degenerate gamblers who moved the line from Bucs -1.5 to Dallas by 1.5 to 2 in the last 12 hours before kickoff a lot of coin ;). One other thing Joe; the doubling the win total is a tad misleading as Lovie probably would have got the Bucs to 4-12 or 3-13 if he was not in total tank mode; especially in the saint finally last season. But yes the team is showing improvement and that is good; lets just hope the coaching staff shows similar strides….. Nice win today, Winston was given a chance at redemption and he got it done; most Buc qbs in the past would not get that second chance or they would still find a way to lose……

Lovie called a great game. We blitzed just when we needed to and they were usually effective. We played man quite a lot and for the most part took Dez Bryant out of the game. And we were very difficult to run against. Cowboys are a crap team but we found a way to win so Lovie and the coaches do deserve credit.

  10. Eric Says:

I would expect nothing less from our fair weather fans.

Lovie is doing a great job.

Joseph, it’s refreshing to know that you are NOT an idiot….

Can’t win it all with him. I do want him gone. Even if he runs the table from here to the end of te reg season. If we win, it has everything to do with everything BUT him.

  13. Brent Says:

For me 6 wins I’m happy with lovie. That’s 3 times last year. so he’s improving our team. Plus these last 2 weeks the defense has been improved. Also, all these guys wanting him fired fail to recognize how hard it is to find a good coach. They act like it’s easy. I’d rather give lovie a lot of rope for continuity sake. Can’t keep overhauling the roster every 2 years..

  15. Lefty Says:

Can we please stop looking at 4 wins ( doubling last year’s output) as an accomplishment? After last year’s win total, Lovie pretty much set himself up to improve– didn’t Schiano wrap up his career here with 4 wins? Let’s see what happens from here. The bar in Tampa has been just so disappointingly low…

  16. Johnny "America's Commenter" Dejay Says:

@Lefty Nobody is saying 4 wins on its own is an accomplishment. However, 4 wins out of 9 games (including winning 3 of the last 5) with at least 3 or 4 more winnable games on the schedule is something to get excited about. It’s reasonable to believe this team will finish the season 8-8 despite two early heartbreaking losses. A strong run to finish 8-8 would be the perfect foundation for a decade’s worth of playoff runs starting in 2016.
