Bucs Place McDonald On IR

November 3rd, 2015
Done for the year.

Done for the year.

Clinton McDonald’s season is done.

The leader behind the scenes of the Bucs defense, the starting defensive tackle, was placed on injured reserve with a pectoral injury.

McDonald, who did not play at Atlanta, had five sacks in 13 starts last year year, but none in six starts this season. The 28-year old has no more guaranteed money in his contract.

He is due $3.25 million next year.

This is a definite loss. He’s a more vocal leader than McCoy, and has been solid for us.

  2. tmaxcon Says:

    big loss. very consistent player.

  3. DB55 Says:

That’s awful! Heal up son we’ll need you next year for the messiahs SB run.

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Man, Clinton has been and is a solid player for us. So this kinda stings. Get well. Meantime..Next man up.

With McDonald on IR now and GMC himself hurting, Spence just returning from back surgery, and McDaniel hurtin some also, our DLine is going to be hard pressed to pressure any QBs the rest of the season I have a feeling. Melton definitely needs to step up, and our DEs need to start putting some pressure on the QB themselves. None of them are putting consistent pressure on opposing QBs or playing the wide runs particularly well thus far.

Sure do hope McDonald heals up quickly and that the Bucs bring him back next year. He and McCoy together got some good push early in the season, and seem to complement each other really well.

    Tbbf

Melton had 4 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Melton and McDaniel need to step it up, and Spence is hopefully in good shape.

It’s alright we got spence back just in time. I thought he had great get off. If he plays like he did Sunday he will start to look like what Brian price was suppose to be

  12. Fsuking Says:

Yea I’m cool with Henry Melton getting more snaps. And maybe the fat man from Seattle will show up at some point.

  13. godzilla13 Says:

Clinton McDonald was the unsung hero of this defense. He was key to controlling the line of scrimmage and crucial in stopping the run. Not sure what people are seeing in Henry Melton? I would play William Gholdson at DT and have Akeem Spence back both up at DT. DE Jacquies Smith, DT Gerold McCoy, DT William Gholdson DE Howard Jones. So much for the trade deadline?

  14. Matt Says:

Akeem spence is good and this year Melton has been impressing me more than McDonald . McDaniel is ehhh , but with GMC Melton and spence we still should be fine . I’m more worried about CB safety and wr . If we’re keeping glennon than cut that 3rd string QB and bring up rannełl hall already !!!! What about Bradley fletcher he couldn’t be worse than what we have right now at Corner .

  15. Caleb Says:

It can always get worse Matt. Lol. We definitely have issues in the secondary, but it’s not getting solved this year unfortunately.

  16. Pick6 Says:

time for spence to take the job and not look back. unfortunately, i don’t see mcdonald back here at that salary next year. with gholston rotating inside and a draft that will probably add at least 2 d-linemen, there may not be much room on the depth chart for a $3 million rotational DT who is approaching 30. they’d probably be able to re-up melton or mcdaniel for less
