Hey, Lovie Smith told everyone listening last year that “football doesn’t really begin until November.”

Maybe the guy was on to something.

Nahh, that was ridiculous. But what’s not ridiculous is the Bucs just beat a quality football team on the road.

Lovie’s beloved takeaways were the difference, including two pure giveaways by fumbling Matt Ryan.

Don’t look at the box score. There’s another scary Halloween nightmare in there. Ryan completed 37-of-45 passes for 397 yards against the Bucs today — but lost.

Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, put his mighty stamp on this one with precision clutch throws and inspired running. And oh yeah, no turnovers for the third consecutive week. Fellow rookie linebacker Kwon Alexander wanted this game more than Lavonte David Julio Jones, who had the ball wripped from his hands by Kwon at a critical first-half moment.

There are no bad wins on the road, and every division game is huge.

The Bucs have plenty, plenty, plenty to fix on their defense, but it’s all roses today.

Enjoy it, Bucs fans. Put on your colors and leave the house. Nobody will laugh at you this afternoon.

Lovie sucks, we have a bright future when he’s fired. Jameis is the man, Lovie is dog poo, can’t wait till he’s fired!

  2. TAC Says:

    Lovies winners, yeah…lol. Melted Mattie.

  3. Walter Says:

That was so hard to watch

  4. ndog Says:

FINALLY McCoy did something and look what happens!

  5. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Hell yeah! Bout time things went the Bucs way!

  6. cmurda Says:

Dirk Koetter is a brilliant Offensive Coordinator especially when he has no V Jax and Evans got banged up. M.E. also showed a ton of heart. Yesssss. I’ll take it. It was ugly but I do want you to know that was McCoy who stepped up on the last play. Give it to our Bucs for perseverance when I thought we had no chance.

  7. Buc Neckid Says:

    I have to admit it…
The Defense FINALLY Came through when it was needed

  8. lightningbuc Says:

Was hard on GMC, but he stood up and manned up in the end.

Looked like he was very emotional with the last play.

    Kudos Gerald!

  9. Couch Fan Says:

Atl gave that game to us but I’ll take it!!

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

Despite poor defense all day, they came through in OT. Jameis played very well, despite a couple missed throws, and didn’t turn the ball over. Tampa Bay won in spite of Lovie’s defense blowing a 17 point lead. Ugly win but a good win. Go Bucs!

  11. lightningbuc Says:

Oh yeah, and kudos to BuccaneerBonzai. He predicted the victory when most of us thought he was crazy. I wish I possessed 10% of his positivity for this team.

  12. steve Says:

can the GMC haters give it a rest for a couple hours now?

  13. Buccfan37 Says:

    Miracles do happen!!!

  14. Bucs_fan13 Says:

That was a heartwrencher. Honestly thought we were gonna blow a second game in a row. Thank goodness!!

  15. Please Says:

    Yes!!!

  16. vegabuc Says:

I just want all the jack wagons, lollipop sucking, pop corn burning, tong wearing, numb nuts hating on Jameis to take a back seat and get the hell out of this message board.

  17. tb Says:

    Yes we won

  18. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Was GMC hurt or crying when Jameis ran up? Crying is reserved for making it to the SB and winning it.

The no punt call on 4th almost cost the game. Terrible call. But, I it still feels good to win. Every game Jameis takes another step. The stats may not show it, but, he played mature for a rook. Wait till VJ comes back. And if ASJ can stay in the lineup, watch out.

  19. LovieBall Says:

I dont think Jameis even had three games in a row without a turnover in college. ACC > NFL confirmed.

  20. Lamarcus Says:

I told u all falcons were overrated. Bucs underrated?

  21. Luther Says:

Jameis overcame a lot of dropped passes today. Thank God the defense got turnovers because they couldn’t stop anybody today.

  22. @FamousBroy3434 Says:

Winston has now beaten Matt Ryan and Brees in their own buildingS. THE LOVIE AND WINSTON SAGA CONTINUES

  23. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Lovie still needs to go. Game shouldnt have been that close. Winston been consistently good since carolina.. More missed throws this week than against the skins

  24. unbelievable Says:

GMC made the play to seal the game. Maybe we won’t here bitching about him for the next 6 days…

  25. Lovie Is Dog Poo Says:

This is like the first Schiano season. Offense is all that will win us games, defense is absolutely atrocious and needs a few gifts to keep teams under 30.

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

So….Falcons were 6-1? That makes them a GOOD TEAM.

In the open thread, all the while we had the lead, the TROLLS said the Falcons were “giving” us the game.

Well, they came back and tied and we went to overtime. THAT’S NOT GIVING US THE GAME!!!!!!!

You see the heart of that defense? That offense? This was a win they needed. They fought to the end and overcame adversity.

I’m sure the haters will still say Lovie sucks. Even though last week his defense ran out of gas in the second half…and this week they stayed with it into overtime.

That’s what you call improvement. Our 7th game of the season is in the books. We’re 3-4.

    So I’ll tell you what…

It was a tough win. We had a lead and we gave it up. That’s true. But rather than lie down like whipped dogs, the Bucs kept fighting to win. That’s heart.

(oh, and btw…when they showed GMC on the sideline with his head down, he wasn’t pouting. What you could barely see is a tablet that he was studying plays with. Right before they cut the view, a player moved and you could see the tablet)

What will this do for our team?

I said at the start of the season that we might go 2-6 in the first 8 games. Happily, I’m off by a game so far.

    The key note is…

…the latest losses have led to lessons.

…the latest wins have taught even bigger ones.

The team had a losing mentality. Lovie had to overcome that. Every tough wins teaches the team that as long as they keep trying, keep giving it their all, they can still win.

In the second half of the season, that will mean EVERYTHING.

    And btw…I called this win!

  27. Buccfan37 Says:

That game had more ups and downs than an electric yoyo on steroids.

  28. Killian Says:

Lovie should be fired and Koetter should be promoted. This might be met with criticism, but this win is going to set us back as Lovie will keep his job instead of losing it due to a terrible call to go for it on 4th and 1 on your side of the field up a TD. We blew another double digit lead in the fourth quarter. It’s always nice to win, but I can’t help but think how good we could be if Lovie’s defense or decisions weren’t involved…

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Bend, Don’t Break

That’s what Tampa 2 is all about. Those saying the defense played bad? No. They bent. They did not break.

Could they have played better? Yes. But they played well enough.

That game was not given to us. Team don’t come back like that to “give it to us”.

  30. JAB83 Says:

Well well well… I am not as crazy as you Trolls and Fans of Depression wanted to believe!!!

Not quite the 31-17 thrashing of the Tweetie Birds as I had hoped to see BUT

    VICTORY!!!!!!!!!

    none the less 🙂

beware I am here to stay loser fans!!! I will call you out as much as you try to call out what you see!!!

    Go BUCS!!!!

We have achieved a monumental win and this is the hump we have been looking to overcome!!!

    Its down hill from here….

Actually, now that Lovie has put together his offense he can start on his D so these Trolls and Fans of Depression will subside!!!

Amazing win today fellas… Please know… Your really MUCH BETTER THEN MEETS THE EYE…. Believe in yourselves now….

Senserly, THE 12TH MAN!!!! aka. Fans of Inspiration!!!!

  31. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Killian Says
“…this win is going to set us back as Lovie will keep his job…”

And there you have it. The true heart of a troll.

Would rather see the team lose to get their way.

  32. tmaxcon Says:

the bucs won despite Lovie Smith. that defense was hideous. great win and Jaboo is the real deal time to get him a head coach that can win consistently in the nfl. lovie has never won consistently and never will.

  33. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Off topic…I would love to see Winston get Rookie of the Year.

  34. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    JAB83 Says
    “Fans of Inspiration”

I like that…doesn’t really fit Tampa Fans for the most part…but maybe one day.

  35. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

    Jameis’ last 3 games:

    707 yards
    5 TDS
    0 INTs

  36. BucTrooper Says:

The Bucs blew another 17 point lead today which leads me to ask one question:

What lead is actually INSURMOUNTABLE for this Bucs Defense???

  37. BenjaminBuc Says:

While Jameis needs to continue to work on his accuracy (missed Humphries twice, routinely underthrew Evans downfield), his poise and leadership is lifting his teammates week in and week out. Accuracy and timing will improve with practice and repetition, but having that leadership at the most important position in the game is that intangible our franchise has been desperate for. His decision making and changes at the line are also improving each week.

Also, have to recognize Brate and Myers. They both stepped up when their numbers were called. With VJax and Seferian-Jenkins out, we don’t win that game if those two don’t make the plays they did.

  38. OneLove Says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!(RICK FLAIR)

HAHAHAHAHA!! DAMN IT FEELS GOOD TO GET A WIN!!

Thank you boys for this sweet win!! I was at a bar with a bunch of Falcons fans and it felt good RUBBING MY WANG in their faces!!!

On another note, how about BIG KWON ALEXANDER!! GREAT GAME KID!! My condolences to him and his family!

  39. Couch Fan Says:

    A monumental win? LMAO.

  40. Buccfan37 Says:

The game was a barn burner, an edge of my seat nail biter. I’m happy for Lovie, the coaching and the Bucs players for bringing this win back to Tampa Bay. It was unexpected and that makes it that much more enjoyable.

  41. JAB83 Says:

Stay with me Bonsai… Its a story book playing out in real time 🙂

    Trolls are TROLLS

Fans of Depression see the worst and dwell on it and tend to fall for whatever the Trolls say…

Fans of Inspiration see everything… The good the bad and the…. Well the big picture… They understand as a part of the team (the 12th man) they have an impact…. Even when they are not happy with management they do what they are suppose to do NO MATTER WHAT…. When things get bad… They are the best the team has to offer… When the team gets good!!!! They are the inspiration that drives the team to greatness!!!!

Bandwagoners make up the last 25% and they tend to spread evenly between the 3, afore mentioned groups!!!

Granted I am making this up as I go… It just make sense based on my expierence as a die hard Tampa Sports Fan (of Inspiration) 🙂

  42. WalkdaPlank Says:

“That game was not given to us”

Ok BB, I am in no way saying the Bucs didn’t play hard or pull it out when it mattered.

But let me just ask you this, and answer honestly:

If Matt Ryan doesn’t turn the ball over twice on fumbles, once on a throw into triple coverage, and we don’t get that PI call in OT to make it an easier FG, do you think we still win?

The Bucs played their hearts out, Jameis shined, and despite blowing a 17 point lead while only having to protect it for 2 quarters, the Bucs won in Atlanta.

Despite what you might believe, I’m happy we won. But do you think we win without the ATL mistakes?

  43. Rpicolo Says:

Lovie isn’t getting fired and shouldn’t. We are 3-4 under his leadership.

The team is getting better, which doesn’t happen without daily effort. Nor does it happen by accident. We won today with 3 of 4 top receiving options out. Jameis continues to improve. The defense isn’t good enough, but the effort was there and 20 points isn’t the 30 we’ve been giving up. They made the plays to win in overtime. That counts.

Big off season ahead. We need a rush DE and corners, for starters. A second consecutive year of good decisions in the draft can make a lot of difference.

    One step at a time.

OneLove, maybe you should go with SameLove instead? Pretty gross man.

  45. JAB83 Says:

    Hey PLANK…

IF WE HAD A KICKER WE ARE EASILY

    4-3 IF NOT 5-2…

SO….. If does not matter really does it????

  46. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @WalkdaPlank

    If no turnovers…?

Our defense worked their butts off to get them. They took the ball away. It wasn’t given.

  47. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I’m a bit concerned about Evan’s health after this game though.

  48. JAB83 Says:

Hey guy that likes to be called “LOVIES DOG POO” did you enjoy falling out of Lovies dog buttochs really slowly today???

I heard he fed his dog Falcons today and that kind of bird makes for a really nasty poo from his dog!!!

So my question is… Are you enjoying being “Lovie s dog Poo” today???

  49. mark2001 Says:

How many times did Atlanta punt? You listen to their media and they will say that they turned the ball over too many times to beat anyone…and that is true…and in spite of their continual actions to lose this game, they in fact barely did. Glad for the win…. but that should have been a blowout in our direction if we had played good defense.

  50. WalkdaPlank Says:

    @BB

The defense worked their butt off to get a fumble by Matt Ryan right in front of Smith’s face? They worked their butt off to recover another fumble on what should’ve been a routine handoff? Those fumbles were not forced, the Bucs did not cause them. They were given, and Tampa scored off them.

  51. JAB83 Says:

    Hey Mark….. NEWS FLASH….

We don’t give a poo about their media… They are posers benefiting from short gains!!!! We are a dynasty in the makings!!!!

  52. Lovie Is Dog Poo Says:

JAB83, Lovie is the dope and Jamies is the hope. Lovie owes every week he has a job from now on to Jameis Winston. Jameis will decide when Lovie gets fired, it’s as simple as that.

  53. ElioT Says:

On to the Giants. Let’s go!

  54. loggedontosay Says:

The defense needs talent. They are in position to make plays, but they cannot.

  55. mark2001 Says:

How many punts JAB83? Dynasty…..you must be smoking some powerful stuff…

  56. JAB83 Says:

Plank… Actually both were forced because they had to execute the plays against a D that was giving them fits…..

If they were comfortable they execute easy enough… But, both the bad snap and the rushed handoff are due to pressure from previous plays…..

    It as simple as that…

Sometimes effort does not show up… Sometimes it causes the other guy to mess up….

Make no mistake about it TROLL…..

We caused those turnovers hands down!!!!!

  57. WalkdaPlank Says:

    @JAB

Ok, pal. If you say so. Enjoy the win, don’t hurt yourself.

  58. SoCoBuc Says:

I must ask, I know they won but are they allergic to the QB Sneak. They seriously had the opportunity to go for the QB sneak. I think they made the right choice this week but the wrong play call. Definitely could’ve been done slightly different call.
Personally I would go jumbo. Pamphile as another tight end on the strong side. Berate as the extra tight end on the strong side. Myers on the. Backside. Stocker as fullback and Martin\’s the RB. Force the Falcons to pick their poison. If they line up a certain way QB sneak or Strethc run or dive or play action pass.

I\’m old school train of thought. Let your hogs make their money and pound the opposing team.

  59. JAB83 Says:

LOL… DOG POO wanting attention again I take it??? Today you get none Poo that is from Lovies Dog…. Today I just let you sit and resolve into the nothing your destined to become….

Have a good night… Hope you can manage to enjoy the winning Troll or Fan of Depression…. Not sure which one you are yet?????

Either way… Have a blessed night… Hope you find something to seriously be happy about kid…

  60. JAB83 Says:

    LOL… TOCHE Plank 🙂

I know what your saying but IFs don’t count…… If they did we.would be 5-2 right now!!!!

Just saying…. Look at it in a.way that supports your team not damms it!!!! Your the 12th man…… Your job is to support the other 11 men… It sucks when they suck but its.not our place to argure… It is what it is……… TILL IT ISNT!!!!

  61. Killian Says:

4 turnovers and we won in OT. While I am excited about the future with Jameis, you have to look at the big picture. With Lovie at the helm, we are destined for mediocrity. How do you go for it on 4th and 1 on your side of the field? This should have been a blow out win by us. I just don’t have anymore faith in Lovie.

  62. Lovie Is Dog Poo Says:

Enjoy it JAB83. The Lovie loser crew had a rough week and was in for an even rougher week until Jameis Christ saved the day. Lovie keeps his job as long as Jameis decides he keeps it. He’s the coach now, no one trusts Lovie but everyone Jameis.

  63. godzilla13 Says:

The Buccaneers traveled deep into enemy territory today to take on a very good (6-1) Falcon team. Fans questioned this teams spirit. Their coach, there players. What a game. What a win. All the talk about “focus” and how this team has that “losing” mentality. Let me tell you…that team had heart today. Once again our QB led the way. This afternoon I lift my beer to you my beloved Buccaneers, you did it. You held on to the lead and won. Yes, it feels good.
