The New Bucs Order

April 17th, 2015

lovie and lichtYou want to know exactly what ammunition the Bucs have entering the draft?

Well, Joe has the updated order in the graphic below, courtesy of your Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Round Pick in Round Overall Pick
1 1 1
2 2 34
3 1 65
4 10 109
5 26 162
6 8 184
7 1 218
7 14 231

The fourth- and sixth-round picks come from the Rams. The fifth-rounder is Baltimore’s, though Joe would prefer having Jeremy Zuttah back. The last seventh-rounder was part of the George Johnson trade this week.

The Bucs could use more juice. Trading back into the first round likely would cost the second- and fourth-round picks.

Agreed. We really don’t have much to leverage if we wanted to trade back into the rounds 1 – 3, which I really feel we need if we’re trying to draft at least 2 oline plus a DE (after a QB of course).

It will be interesting to see if we try to trade Glennon or some of our RBs for more late round picks.

  2. R.O. Says:

I can see trading down on our 2nd rounder. Those top of the 2nd round picks have been hot commodities the last few years, can add a couple extra picks from there. There will be a run on the RBs at the top.

  3. PocketPirates Says:

I sincerely hope we don’t. Glendon is a fantastic backup for cheap and Martin still has a really nice burst if there is ever a hole to run through…if we don’t get amazing value for either of them then NO DEAL!

  4. robert 9 Says:

it just feels like the cupboard is pretty bare given the amount of players we have shipped to other teams.

Think of the teams thanking us.

new england, detroit, baltimore, oakland etc, etc.

  5. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

I think we will trade down in the second.

    BUCS TRADE FOR GERALD McCOY

Jack the Bucs Fan is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded their third-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for the rights to defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

“Some ignorant people might question this move,” Jack says. “But McCoy is what the Bucs need to make their T-2 system work. Third Round picks can’t be counted on to do much. This is a wonderful, wise move!”

The other patrons at a Riverview bar promptly gave a noogie to poor Jack and sent him back to Gibsonton.

  7. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Well, we HAD an extra 5th rounder, so that must be what we gave up for George Johnson.

    NOT worth it.

  8. Ray Rice Says:

2 and FUKN 14 is all the ammunition they need!

  9. ChessMaster Says:

Looks like to me we have a good chance of getting at least six good players.

  10. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Licht isn’t sweating it if his goal is to trade down from #1 and add more ammo this year and next

  11. Danati74 Says:

Simple. We just need to draft smarter. Just look at all the previous players drafted not on the team. We have high picks in the 1st four rounds. Four potential starters if we draft good. Than get some role players. Easier said and done.

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Trading either Martin or Glennon would be unwise – especially if you are not getting at least a 3rd round pick for either.

Trading down in the 2nd round (no more than 10 spots please) would make a lot of sense to pick up an extra 4th round pick. That #34 pick is a very good trading spot because there will be at least a couple or few players teams like a lot that slipped out of the 1st round and are still available. There are still great players available in the mid 2nd round and it doesn’t hurt you too much to move down as long as the player you choose is still capable of starting and filling a need.

Of course if a player you LOVE and believe will be an instant impact player at a position of strong need – Like a Cam Irving or Ereck Flowers or Randy Gregory – is sitting there at #34 – then you take them and count your blessings.

Otherwise – moving down in the 2nd round – so you don’t have to trade Martin or Glennon to get that needed extra mid round prospect – makes the most sense.

  13. bucs4lyfe Says:

your main need is o line you can easily keep trading up to fix that. we didn’t draft anyone on defense last year and eventually started to play well. get your offense dealt with, draft lineman and stop going after undrafted lineman this year…switch it up to fill the holes on the line, either one of these quarterback will need a seriously upgraded line to be effective

  14. MadMax Says:

Dont forget next year’s picks can also be traded. I was wondering though, are there certain rules and restrictions in doing that? Can you only use 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for 1st/2nd/3rd trades? I know we’ve swapped ‘next year’ late round picks for current year late round picks before. Just curious.

  15. mac Says:

Hopefully the fist three picks will yield three starters… This roster is too weak to miss on any picks this year…

  16. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m not sure I understand why moving back into the first round is such a challenge. We are only two spots removed from the second round as it is.

I’m not talking about the top ten or even top 15 but if an OT that appealed to us dropped to 20 or lower it shouldn’t be that much of a stretch to move up a dozen spots.

  17. salish_seamonster Says:

I don’t see trade up into round 1 if it costs a 4th rounder, unless the target is a guy like Ereck Flowers or Andrus Peat. A 4th round pick could score a starting OG and I don’t see them giving up an extra potential starter.

  18. Jack Says:

    The offense will take time:

New offensive coordinator, new system, we will draft new linemen (2-4), and maybe a QB. 2015 is not going to be the year of the offense in Tampa. I just hope they reduce the penalties, fumbles and picks from last year to put us ahead on the scoreboard going into the 4th QTR, so Gerald and company can close.

  19. Trubucfan22 Says:

Stop using our picks to move up and take the best player available. Our gma have been getting so antsy lately. Let the draft come to you. Stop going after your man crushes that never work out. (Outside of LVD).

  20. BuccaneEric Says:

I don’t want to see a trade up anywhere in the draft that uses draft picks. If we can trade our 2nd and a player to move into the first or our third and a player to move into the second then I say do it. Just don’t move back into the first to grab a Punter! Lol

At least that above comment worked. You figure…

  23. vicbarney1 Says:

Maybe the rape allegations against our reported QB pick in the draft will help Tampa Bay? Right Lovie?

It almost never works out that way for ANY team. Most teams are lucky if half their picks work out. For us it will be less now because instead of having 2 5th rounders, we have 2 7th rounders.

Johnson was not worthy of our extra 5th, not this year.
