“A Full Grasp On Both The Handlebars”
July 13th, 2011Drinking a cold beer and watching the Man Channel, when its not reporting on the asinine lockout, is one of the few things that soothes Joe these days.
Thank you, Verizon, DirecTV, Knology and other patriotic companies that refuse to deny customers America’s game on NFL Network.
Last night Warren Sapp aroused Bucs fans when he sparred with Total Access pal Jamie Dukes about the greatness of Josh Freeman. Check out the video here. Sapp declared Freeman will emerge from the 2011 season as an MVP candidate.
Appalled that Dukes would question him, Sapp explained Freeman’s greatness and scoffed at the notion that Freeman was possibly a one-year wonder. “He got a full grasp on the both the handlebars,” Sapp said.
This was enough to get Joe fired up for flimsy chance that training camp could start in two weeks.

We all know Free is the real deal, thats not even worth discussing.
Joe, I thought TC starting on time is a likely possibility now with new optimism in the lockout talks. Something change?
July 13th, 2011 at 8:11 am
I’m so sick of Jamie Dukes wiping his chin in Atlanta’s locker room. It sounds like he just so badly wants to make himself believe Matty Slice is the next coming of Peyton Manning… PHENOM… really?

Gary:
Pppffftt. Who knows? Joe does his best to not pay attention to the asinine lockout. “They’re close… there’s a lot of work to do… they’re close… there’s a lot of work still to do… ” Joe’s had it with the lockout.
Joe will believe training camp starts on time when training camp starts on time.

Dukes, like the majority of NFL fans, takes the Bucs for granted. On the BSPN (it fits, Joe) poll for the best players of the future, the Bucs got very little love in the nomination process and almost ZERO love in the polling. Oh well, they don’t have to love us, respect us, or even accept us, just as long as we are holding the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season. Considering Atlanta’s aging defense and soon to be depleted OL, I’m not sure why they’re getting any love, I guess some teams (Cowboys) get respect no matter how bad they are.

Go ahead big Sapp, preach the truth!!
As for Atlanta; thank you so much for making a stupid move. The picks given up to get only one player will keep you out of Tampa’s way for many years to come. Almost as close to the “all my draft picks for one player” blunder the Saints pulled the trigger on.
At the end of the day, it is remains a TEAM game. One player can not out perform 6.

Especially if we did sign Nnamdi and keep Talib, those two dirty birds White and Jones turn into nothing more than pandering pigeons
July 13th, 2011 at 8:59 am
Again the Bucs will play the underdog role. I like it.
July 13th, 2011 at 9:52 am
Joe, I am glad that we are the unwashed, unheralded, underdogs because almost no one is looking because they have nothing to look at but consider this, our offense will, for the most part be in their second season together, our defense is revamped with new coaching and fast young linemen, special teams just gets better every year and the sense of a TEAM is prevailent. Most important, they are hungry to excell.
If you ever get the chance, ask Warren Sapp what he thinks the defensive line will do, I would love to hear/see this.
July 13th, 2011 at 10:03 am
Warren’s right. And I would not trade Free for ANY other QB in the NFC South, the NFC OR the entire NFL.
He’s part of THIS team. He’s a born leader with all the skills and young enough to play here for many, many years to come. IMO the Buccaneers will be Super Bowl contenders for those many year to come.

OB:
Sapp was a strong advocate of the Bucs hiring Keith Millard, who also coached Sapp at Oakland. Sapp lobbied the Bucs to hire Millard. So that should tell you something.

D*mn it Joe! You got me all jazzed about football. I’ve been trying to remain patient and like you said ignore all the lockout BS, but hearing 99 talk about #5 gives me chills. Let’s get it on!
July 13th, 2011 at 10:33 am
Funny! According to some on here, we shouldn’t listen to these ex-players or coaches, because they only say positive things about thier former teams. I guess, we should only listen when Ruud is not brought into the discussion?
July 13th, 2011 at 12:17 pm
Jamie Dukes=Clown shoes! Worst analyst on NFL network.
July 13th, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Dude is still getting the TB area pumped up!!!

MOBucs:
Worse than Deion and Michael Irvin???
July 13th, 2011 at 2:24 pm
Someone should ask Jamie Dukes what exact year the Colts decided to mortgage their entire future to get a WR for Peyton Manning.
That Atlanta move resembled the Ricky Williams draft trade more than anything the Colts have done. Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, Jacob Tamme were not high round draft picks. Harrison was 19th overall and Wayne was 30th overall.
The Chiefs who got the next WR at 26, Jonathon Baldwin, look more like they are following the Colts’ philosophy than the Falcons do…
July 13th, 2011 at 3:21 pm
That Ricky williams trade was crazy! They traded all thier picks for Williams. That was the only time in NFL history that one team only drafted on player in any one draft! Not to mention losing 1st and 4th picks the next year! Crazy!
July 13th, 2011 at 3:23 pm
Sapp ripped that guy apart. Freeman for MVP 2012!
July 13th, 2011 at 3:34 pm
OAR:
Da Coach!
Remember in that draft how Eaglefan nearly started a riot at the draft because Philly picked Donovan McNabb instead of Ricky Williams? LOL
July 13th, 2011 at 4:56 pm
@ Joe… Good point. OK ok, Dukes is third worse. I get physically ill watching Deion and Irvin. Just queasy watching Dukes.
July 13th, 2011 at 6:03 pm
“Funny! According to some on here, we shouldn’t listen to these ex-players or coaches, because they only say positive things about thier former teams. I guess, we should only listen when Ruud is not brought into the discussion?”
———–
Good point Oar (even though I’m one of the guys that has been saying that)! It’s only fair to take what Sapp says with a grain of salt too. I do believe that ex-players and coaches are almost never going to say anything bad about another player. I will say, however, that Warren Sapp is not like most other ex-players. He seems like he really doesn’t give a sh%! about what others think. I would love to hear what Sapp says about Ruud. You have to admit, it’s just exciting to hear anybody in red & pewter be mentioned in the MVP conversation!
July 13th, 2011 at 6:26 pm
If Dukes would just come out and admit that he’s a homer I wouldn’t have a problem with his arguments because they are always biased. Freeman will dominate this season…
July 13th, 2011 at 6:55 pm
Dukes is a tool.
The Colts usually have a D. The Falcons have no D.
And they’ll probably lose 2 of their top OL.
They don’t scare me at all. Like Sapp said, they were last in explosive plays. With all that supposed talent, they were LAST in explosive plays. And adding ONE guy all of a sudden changes that?
Whatever.
Freeman for MVP 2011.
July 13th, 2011 at 9:17 pm
Now I found the spot.
Thanks Warren. Way to send some love back home. I was ready for an old Buc v Dirty Bird THROW-DOWN Jack. Say it Warren, “The Bucs are going to kick the Falcons’ A$$ this year”. And Jamie, you can suck cheese right along with them. Josh Freeman blows your little birdleg QB away.
July 13th, 2011 at 9:30 pm
I love Warren’s facial expressions. Priceless.
July 14th, 2011 at 8:46 am
Joe
I do! And, Lavar Arrington is the only player to stay on the Resdskins longer than a year from that trade. I also think, Desmond Clark, who the Broncos drafted in that draft (Skins traded a few of those picks themselves) was the only other player out of those eight picks to amount to anything, also.
Funny, how things work out!

Hawaiian
Alohoa! Yes, it is nice to hear that MVP designation and our Bucs in the same conversation!
