Bears QB bratty Jay Cutler once again proved yesterday if you don't have a quarterback, you don't have a prayer in the NFL.

Bears QB bratty Jay Cutler once again proved yesterday if you don’t have a quarterback, you don’t have a prayer in the NFL.

At one point, Joe was outraged. Then depressed. Then numb. Losing upon losing will do that to a football fan.

But there is one person who has not yet gone apathetic. That is Joe’s good friend, “The Commish,” Justin Pawlowski of Scout.com. He watched yesterday’s nutkick of a loss to the Bears and it proved to him why the Bears waved goodbye to Lovie Smith and Josh McCown.

To start the 2nd half, the Bucs first four drives on offense led by Josh McCown went 3-and-out, 3-abd-out, McCown fumbled, and a McCown interception. The Bears would turn three of those Bucs possessions into touchdowns. Just like that, all of the momentum the Bucs had going into halftime turned into a 21-10 deficit with just 12 minutes off the clock in the 3rd quarter.

The Bucs offense wouldn’t do much more during the game proving their ineptness against one of the worst defenses in football. Oh, and that playcalling? Yeah! I’d have Josh McCown throw it nearly 50 times in the pouring rain too! (sarcasm)

This isn’t a piece to prove yet again why the Bucs MUST draft a quarterback early in next April’s draft. I think McCown proved that point just fine today. What we are seeing with this Bucs team this year is a team proving they are worse than the bad teams they are losing to on almost a weekly basis.

Joe just cannot believe the crowd that doesn’t want to believe either the quarterback situation is a problem or that the Bucs don’t need a quarterback.

That is senile George Halas mentality, when he had the likes of Bobby Douglas and Bob Avellini at quarterback. You know, who the hell needs a quarterback when the defense plays well?

Well folks, it is time to embrace reality. This is 2014, not 1974. Teams without decent quarterbacks are garbage. Welcome to the real world.

We need a special talent at QB in the worst way

  2. HorseForce Says:

We need to draft a qb. Tackle. Guard.

    Mclown is inept

  3. 87 is right! Says:

We need a QB who knows how to win, and Jameis Winston is his name. We all need to start calling our ticket agents and letting them know if we dont get a top tier QB we are not showing up next season. This team has made me sick to my stomach.

  4. JJV Says:

Agreed Joe. In today’s NFL, it all starts with the QB. When you have a franchise type one, an entire team can be built around that player. That position is the pure leader of the team and the most important. The difficult part is having a good GM and head coach to put it all together. You know like a real legitimate NFL contender that is revelant, like the one Lovie promised.

  5. MTM Says:

Bucs needs: QB, offensive line, offensive coordinator, special teams coach, punter and new ownership.

  6. Zoocomics Says:

@ Joe… you despise McCown dude, it is written all over this website and it’s exhausting. You’ve been talking about how this Bears game was a kick in the nuts. Well, the biggest kick in the nuts is putting a caption under the picture of Cutler, as if somehow he was good yesterday. He was terrible dude!

Might be in the minority here but here is my silver lining after the Bears loss. First, we went into a hostile environment for the 2nd straight week, in poor weather conditions and we beat the Bears for 3 Quarters of football. As usual our O-line was not good. McCown looked clearly rattled mid-way through the third, but he still managed to make some decent throws, and yeah he missed some as well. I hate the play the what-if game, but what if Jackson doesn’t fumble? What if Murphy makes the catch in the corner of the in-zone? And yes, he also made some terrible throws…I get it.

Like many on these boards following this loss. I was calling for Lovie’s head earlier in the season after the blowout losses, but things are improving. McCown is a bridge, no one thought he’d be the franchise, and I still think he’s a better option than Glennon…by far. Just the fact that this O-line is so garbage, you need someone that can escape the pocket and run and Glennon CAN NOT do that. Defense is coming around. David’s absence hurt more than we probably thought.

We had a bad quarter yesterday, and the Bears know they dodged bullet. They were not a good football team yesterday. Consider we gave up 4 TOs/5 Sacks, and we somehow were still in the game yesterday?

Lets keep up our heads up after this game, things are improving, and the Bengals should be a nice test from a good football team.

  7. watson Says:

New owners should be at the top of the list.

  8. Sick of this $hit Says:

Yeah, I dont get why a lot of these fans are sticking by their QB so loyally. Its proof that a lot of the fans on here just want to be right about certain things and then pound the chest in victory if their QB prevails.
Well, Id like the Bucs to win consistently with a new QB. Not just sit and wait for Glennon or McCown to decide to have a good game and win one.

  9. I'm Tom Brokaw and this is an American story Says:

@ Zoocomics, you’re right on it. We can’t run the ball, that’s why we had to throw so much. This offensive line and/or blocking scheme is not getting it done. Oline coach Warhop needs to be replaced along with the coordinator .

  10. Fort Myers Dave Says:

Take away the turnovers and the Bucs win in the Windy City! 4 damn turnovers cost the Bucs a W against a mediocre Bears team that will probably finish 6-10…. Thanx for the fumble V-Jax and for the life of me I do not understand why Martin was in the game as Lovie just extinguished any trade value the lad had…. Yeah a great qb could have won yesterday against Chicago but that great qb would also get slaughtered behind this bad Buc OL if it faced a competent D; Jesus Christ the bad Bear D got 5 ****ing sacks! You have to fortify the trenches before a qb can win for Tampa! Draft a “franchise” qb and start him behind an OL this porous and you will have a mirror image of Blake Bortles getting pounded up in Jacksonville; an ugly situation that could turn the kid into a head case like the Carr kid in Houston was as he got sacked a half dozen times a game minimum….

  11. Tony Says:

@Zoocomics…I couldn’t agree with you more. McCown and for some reason Charles Sims have tons of hatred thrown their way from this website. Even if we draft a Mariota/Winston next year I still think McCown is the guy to groom that quarterback and he would be happy to do so, that’s the kind of guy he is. Ironically, these are the same guys that threw hate at Glennon last year that are now calling for him to play. McCown is better and Glennon is not the future. They are both really good human beings so stop with this attack. For the first time yesterday I really contemplated not coming to this site anymore.

  12. Simpleasthat Says:

Cutler is better than McClown is like comparing bush beer to Pabst Blue Ribbon.

  13. RastaMon Says:

Jameis is barely winning in college surrounded with talent superior to the opponents….

  14. DallasBuc Says:

The whining and excuse-making from the McStake apologists on this site is comical. The oline is a garbage fire but the pass pro is light years ahead of the run “blocking” which is so awful it’s hard to look at. These guys get pushed around and knocked over like action figures at the point of attack. You apologists keep carrying water for that waterboy McCown…I need something to entertain me on these pages.

  15. Bee Says:

    Rastamon

At least Jameis is winning, which is something the qbs on this roster are allergic too.

  16. DWE Says:

Bucs had two wins going into the game. They are going no where and McCown should not be playing. There is no reason for it, period.

  17. DWE Says:

The caption under cutler’s picture should have said “unless you are playing the bucs” Because Cutler sucks about as bad as our QBs and he is supposedly the franchise.

  18. Zam Says:

O-line was the problem. McCown threw some accurate balls when he had time, balls Glennon would have underthrown.

McCown’s problem is he thinks he can salvage plays but he’s terrible at it. He needs Schiano to get in his head and overthink things, for once that would be helpful.

  19. Bear the Bucs Says:

You besmirch QB Bobby Douglas of the Bears. A mountain of a man. He may have been a loser, but man, he was fun to watch ! Like his 70 yard (in the air) touchdown pass. Like his rugged runs through the line (no sissy sliding here !) Managed 969 years on the ground in 1 season. Like Butkus and Sayers, you’d go to the game just to watch him.

  20. Stanglassman Says:

To me worse than McCown’s mistakes was the selfish taunting penalty by Evans that flipped the field, changed momentum and ultimately got the full back injured. All this not because he was trying to win the game for the team like McCown instead because he (Evan’s) was childishly thinking of himself and how great he was not caring about the consequences to his team.

    —————————————————————————–
FYI: Through yesterday’s games, BOTH McCown and Glennon have EACH been sacked 16 times. So McCown’s supposed “escapability” has not been in evidence much.

    So far this year:
Glennon has rushed 10 times for 49 yards, for an average of 4.9 ypc.
McCown is obviously much better since he has rushed 16 times for 92 yards for an average of 5.7 ypc.(sarcasm). And when he loses the football while scrambling, whatever supposed advantage he gives, is completely lost.

Lastly, with JM12, the Bucs have scored 88 points in 5.5 games =16 ppg.
With MG8, the Bucs have scored 112 points in 5.5 games = 20.4 ppg.

  22. DallasBuc Says:

Stanglassman- first of all the penalty on Evans was unfortunate but hardly worse than what trash McCown did. He was jawing with a guy he was competing against and just beat for a score. It was not flagrant taunting. Second, just because we decided to use the fullback after the field position was flipped doesn’t mean it is Evans fault. He got injured playing the game of football…Evans didn’t run over Lane with a dump truck! How ridiculous…
Finally, the flip in field position due to that BS taunting penalty resulted in exactly zero points for Bears.
Stop defending the HC, QB, oline and whoever else you want to shield from critisism. This team sucks because it is run poorly.

  23. buc4lyfe Says:

Bucs should have drafted a quarterback this year and signed mccown, he can reach a rookie and teach Glennon how to be a backup and how to close his mouth during a timeout so he doesn’t look so retarded
