Tomorrow, Joe will compare results here to the same poll a few weeks ago

  1. DB55 Says:

My confidence level is about as high as his winning %, about 14%.

  2. RastaMon Says:

    You left out
    Fire Lovie…..

  3. DallasBuc Says:

I love that “totally confident” option is polling strong at 0%!

  4. Matts17 Says:

I was against his hiring from the start. Glazers are incapable of identifying HC’s, their history proves it. Lovie was a kneejerk reaction to a familiar name. However, lest we forget the addition of the new GM that should be included in this poll. Their pro player moves have been dreadful. Free agency has proven a bust all of 7 games in.

  5. Keith Says:

Hey DallasBuc, it’s up to 2.3 percent now! LOL

  6. mike h Says:

    none whatsoever! 0%

  7. Mike10 Says:

    I’m feeling generous: little confidence.

Out of curiosity, to those who said confident (or better), what are some reasons for your rationale on this one?

    (Dungy references aside, please)

  8. The Buc Realist Says:

    @ keith adn DallasBuc

It must be a couple of the local media and the very last few “sheep” left!

  9. DB55 Says:

    Rastamon

He ain’t going anywhere. It’s not about winning its about turning a profit.

  10. RastaMon Says:

“It’s not about winning its about turning a profit”….the gravy for any NFL owner comes after the gauranteed Owner TV etc money…the gravy is stadium ticket sales (falling)…consession sales (falling)…parking (falling)….merchandise sales (falling)….brand goodwill (falling)…..keep marching into the swamp

  11. Robert 9 Says:

rigged. no way in hell 37% are confident or better unless lovie and all the othe NFC south tams are voting.

  12. mike h Says:

u have it rastamon down with the ship!

  13. Robert 9 Says:

I would rathyer any NFL coach in the league at this point.

would give my left nut to have chucky back.

  14. mike h Says:

lol if they would let me I would vote no confidence 20 more times.

  15. ForgotAboutDre Says:

I put a little. I had some at the beginning of the season but it’s kind of dissipated as all of our offseason moves have been pretty bad and our on-field performances have been even worse. I think we had a solid draft though and he has success before, so I’m not giving up yet.

  16. mike h Says:

    agree Robert 9 .

  17. RastaMon Says:

OK…for some fun….add 15 years of age to each percentage…and the voting becomes much easier to understand

  18. BucFanInArkansas Says:

@Mike10: I voted “Confident”. Not “Very” or “Totally”, but not “Little” or “No”, either. Here’s why: Yes, we look putrid. But as bad as we’ve looked, the fact remains that while we’ve been blown out/curb-stomped twice, we’ve been in position to win the other five. That’s how thin the difference is between winning and losing. Now, realistically, even if we HAD pulled out those other four “close” losses, we’d be 5-2 and the fans who were paying attention would know that it was smoke and mirrors. But for all the hand-wringing about how the Tampa-2 (Cover Who?) defense won’t work any longer in this league, take a look at the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, they got beat last night, but that defense that Rod Marinelli is running there looks pretty similar to what Lovie wants to do here, and it took him a year to get it going. Nobody wants to admit it, but these things DO take time. We can be as impatient as we want, but a quick turnaround is hard to come by in the NFL. But considering Lovie’s history, I’m “confident” that he can get the ship righted.

  19. Mike10 Says:

Robert, I’d donate a right if it would get us even a prayer of getting em back. Except all the $ in the world wouldn’t get him back here..

Rasta, DB55: Put Willie Taggart out there Bucs would still make money.

You win you turn a much different profit.

  20. lurker Says:

i said we needed an offensive-minded coach and wanted a different coach.

i found the stats of lovie’s records vs winning and losing teams (which sucks vs teams at .500 or over .500, and is worse now against teams with losing records). i also read bears’ fans opinions on his poor clock management, stubbornness, and poor offenses.

  21. mike h Says:

it must be lovie dovie in his office with the rest of the coaches on the joe bucs. voting! cuz there not doing anything else.

  22. DB55 Says:

    Joe

What are you hearing about trades? Bleacher report claims doug Martin traded to Mia but the deal fell apart?

  23. lurker Says:

    * correction: i found the article with lovie’s stats

  24. Joe Says:

What are you hearing about trades?

Nothing. Am at One Buc Palace. Did see Jason Licht walking down the hall with a plate of food.

  25. DB55 Says:

Well as long as he gets his lunch in today that’s really all that matters. #fml

  26. mike h Says:

D C Frasier just orderd lobsters and steamers for there 4 hour lunch. before they have to go home. for the day!

  27. mike h Says:

d.b 55 they said the team is ready for sunday. the players get rest of week off.

  28. Buccfan37 Says:

I voted with the little crowd and it appears to be leading. Little confidence might be a reach, but anything is possible over time. I don’t think he is going anywhere anytime soon, so the little is just a tiny sliver.

  29. RastaMon Says:

“Nothing. Am at One Buc Palace. Did see Jason Licht walking down the hall with a plate of food.”…Last Meal?..hey Joe…for a scoop…check out the parkng lot and tell us when the names on the parking places are changed…tell..the G’Boyz hello from me…

  30. mike h Says:

joe they traded martin for one year of free lunch!

  31. mike h Says:

personally I would have traded lovie for a box of animal crackers.

  32. DB55 Says:

    Mike h

Lol. Just one day free lunch from Taco Bell.

  33. ChargedCBH Says:

Lovie’s stubborness will be his downfall. We don’t need to hear the so called positives, this team stinks! I don’t want to hear “we did some good things” if I wanted to hear BS, I will sit in on a session of Congress. We are the only team that doesn’t take advantage of the new passing rules, on every play someone should be running a drag or crossing route, you can run the ball in a 3 or 4 wide formation. Use Herron, use his speed to clear out the underneath routes. I just don’t see anything different being tried.

  34. Chef Paul Says:

From NFL dot com about our beloved Bucs:

“Maybe it was merely the view showed by Fox cameras, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of ticked-off faces on the home team immediately following Anthony Barr’s game-winning fumble return. Don’t want to go all scientific, but to turn fortunes around, you gotta have players who hate losing.”

  35. mike h Says:

    DB55 lol done deal!

  36. DB55 Says:

    Chef Paul

Some players were just excited to go back to the locker room and eat some ice cream. You know it be hot out there in that sun all day and then you got people hitting you and stripping balls away.

Ain’t Nobody Got Time Fo That!!!

I scream, you scream, the bucs scream for ice cream.

  37. DallasBuc Says:

Look Chef Paul, at least our guys don’t cuss. That’s as good as effort, pride, dignity, toughness and winning, right?

  38. Mike10 Says:

    Buc in Arkansas.
I get where you’re coming from. And you could argue the numbers support it. Hell, the Bucs defense ranked better than the Cowboys last year. Similar to last year, we barely lost several games, that had they “shaken out” differently, the season would look a heck of a lot better than 4-12: (Jets, NO missing the field goal). Those two alone make 6-10; looks way better. But don’t you think every team could say that. I watched a bad Titans team get beat by a less-bad Cleveland team that was down by 30+ ; TN notches that as “should-have-been” win. Or heck, a less-bad Pittsburgh team finding a way to beat themselves against a really bad team from Tampa. You don’t think they wish they had that one back.
Point is on any given sunday, any team can win. And at the end of the year, there’s those games every team wishes they could have back. Difference is, the bad teams lose those games more often than not, and wish they could have back what sums up to be 3/4 of a season… season after season.

Ya we’ve only been blown out twice, but one of those was to a bad Atlanta team, and the other was at home where we looked clueless + poorly out-coached.

Considering Lovie’s history? That looks like trouble to me! He couldn’t put together an offensive line over 9 years; that is probably our biggest deficiency at this point.
He couldn’t develop a QB or an offense so they traded the bank for an “above average one.”
So you may say he got to the Super Bowl without one, fair enough. But he also had a Top Tier MLB to cover the entire middle of the field, we don’t have that. He had a secondary that could cover and a D line that could pressure the QB, I haven’t see either in years.

All this sounds like a recipe for improving – but what have you seen this season
to make you believe we can do that?

  39. bucrightoff Says:

How does confident have even close to 30% of the vote? This isn’t 2005, Lovie isn’t in Chicago. Don’t consider what he’s done, consider what he’s doing. And when you do, how can anyone be confident?

  40. DB55 Says:

    Chef P

Players have to go get their checks cashed. Amscot closes at 6p on Sundays. No time to sulk. They gots to get paids!!! These dude have been losing their entire career, it’s business as usual for most.

Sh*t I bet you my Taco Bell lunch that at least half the players, with less than 2 mins to play, thought that we were going to find a way to lose, somehow.

  41. HawaiianBuc Says:

I put totally confident just to piss everyone off.

  42. BucFanInArkansas Says:

    @Mike10:

Great response, and those are all pretty good points. especially about the close losses. Right now, I’d take any wins we can get, smoke & mirrors or not. And those blowouts are even more concerning, honestly.

But I don’t think Lovie came here so we could watch a terrible team every week. I have to believe that, to a man, these players & coaches are working to learn & improve. Because the alternative means that we don’t need to bother watching our own team any more. So if that’s true, then it gives me confidence that these pro’s will start showing improvement over time. I believe that a HC who finished .500 or better in 2/3 of his seasons has the ability to point us in the right direction.

Am I happy with what I’ve seen thus far? Nope. You asked me what I’ve seen this season that makes me believe that we’ll improve? Nothing. I haven’t seen it. Yet. But for the sake of staying involved in this season, I’m willing to believe that the improvement we want to see is coming (hopefully sooner rather than later) and that this bunch will finally start playing consistently well and winning games.

Because if I don’t have that faith that we’re getting it turned around, then why bother with any of this? Then we’ll all just have to give up and stop following the team and stop clicking on this website, and the Glazers will sell the franchise to some dotcom billionaire who moves the team to LA, and then Joe will be unemployed and possibly drink himselves (yeah, you read that right) to a pair of early graves, and then we will all be culpable in the murder of a franchise and two beloved bloggers. And we don’t want THAT on our collective conscience. do we? DO WE?? HECK NO!! So bring it on! This Sunday is the first game of the rest our #ItsABucsLife! Go Bucs! TAMPA! BAY! Beat The Browns!!

    Bucs Fever! Worse Than Ebola!

  43. KeithInTampa Says:

I too voted “Little”; but I was admittedly “On Board” prior to the first snap. Lovie wasn’t my first choice as Head Coach, but Lovie (and Licht) came out, said the right things, (or at least they sounded “right” in the off season and prior to the season starting); and for all of you who are clamoring about how bad our Free Agency picks were, don’t forget that Verner, Collins, McDonald, McCown, and most every Free Agent that we acquired were at the top of the Free Agency Board this summer when we snatched them up! It looked as if Lovie and Licht had pulled of a major coup, and there were even some who were whispering, “Dream Team”.

No doubt we are missing a lot of pieces, on both sides of the ball, but I am not ready to completely write off this whole Lovie Licht Regime….Licht was known before he got here as an excellent evaluator of talent; and Lovie is still considered to be a defensive guru. Patience is not one of my strong suits either, but we have no choice here.

I am hoping that the Bucs will place a lot of emphasis on scouting, talent evaluation/player personnel, and maybe even look into this new “Catapult” player training/evaluation system that Buffalo, Philadelphia, and some college teams like Alabama have invested in called, “Catapult”.

  44. RastaMon Says:

    KeithinTampa…
“….Licht was known before he got here as an excellent evaluator of talent; and Lovie is still considered to be a defensive guru.”
too bad he did not get to select the HC…..that said…and I’ve said it several times since the Vikings game…”we have enoughn talent to be a .500 +- team….Lovie is a BuzzKill….empty suit…leadership vaccum BOOB…

    _________________________________________________________

So you’re admitting you aren’t confident and just went he other way just because. Well thanks for that tactic admission.

  46. Dewey Selmon Says:

I believe it is the Dungy coaching tree. Edwards, Maronelli, Lovie, Tomlin. All defense and now teams have figured out the Tampa Two defense. Tomlin won a super bowl but Dick Lebaeu runs the defense. Lovie made a Super bowl, Dungy won with Manning. I for once would love to see an offensive minded coach on the sidelines. I really had high hopes with tedford. And now we have gotten worse as the season goes on. I cannot believe after two weeks to prepare for the Vikes we couldn’t move the ball till the 4th quarter.

  47. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @bucrightoff,

I’m never totally confident in anyone until I see results. I haven’t seen results yet. I didn’t say I have no confidence, but I certainly wouldn’t bet my house on it. It doesn’t matter what any of us think, because we can go 1-15 and he’s coming back next year. He’s going to get a free pass year based on his reputation, as he should. Next year, however, is when the seat starts to warm up if we are still losing.

  48. OB Says:

    joe

I said little confidence because they still came out and ran the first two plays up the middle with no blocking and then threw, or tried to on third down. To me Glennon’s interception deep into Viking territory was better than a punt, they couldn’t run it back. No one in the league can pass without any time to throw. Lovie needs an OC so the position coaches can devote their full time to their players, there isn’t one nor does it look like there is going to be. The OL is so bad that no one know what the rest of the offense can do because it is always the ball carrier against the entire defense by themselves. ASJ made a mistake in overtime that will last for the rest of his career so I don’t blame him, at least he was catching the ball.

The Defense was better but still no rush to speak of plus the DBs are not very good, without LVD they would have scored about 100 points. The new DE replacing Johnson looks like a breath of fresh air.

The new return man is not any better than what we had and maybe worse, he flubbed on ball and tried to run out of the end zone from at least 8 yards deep.

We can only hope they are a cold weather team and they might win this weekend.

  49. Mike10 Says:

    Arkansas

Sounds like were saying the same thing.

Seems my conscious optimism only took me so far. As for the power of positive thought, if there was just some way to squeeze and distill that down, sell it on sidelines of practice …. dammmm where’s shark tank

  50. pick6 Says:

everybody was celebrating our next Tony Dungy. It looks like what we actually got was our next San Wyche. although that might be judging Sam Wyche a little harshly. Still, you have to give Lovie another offseason before declaring him a failure, even though this one turned out so poorly. losing tedford was probably more crippling a loss than you can quantify, and makes it hard to judge our final record without some caveats. He will get a chance to draft a QB, go into next season with an actual offensive coordinator, and overhaul the talent (again) on that mess of a defense. For my part, i will refuse to get excited about any draft pick, free agent, or new coach until they actually produce. i am officially finished with buccaneer hype until there’s some track record of competing and winning.

  51. Kevin Says:

I would have a little bit of confidence if:

    1) Lovie went out and got an OC immediately following Tedford popping the glycerine. The fact we still have the QB coach calling plays shows L&L’s lack of decisive leadership needed when something major happens and an important decision needs to be made.

    2) Lovie fired Leslie Frazier. Someone has to be held responsible for the utter abysmal failure that the defense has become. It would at the very least a message to fans that we will not tolerate our defense looking less disciplined than a high school football team.

    3) Lovie brought in some outside his “thinktank” to evaluate the talent that he wants to bring in. We don’t need a “yes-man”, we need a guy who will tell Lovie “no”.

Lovie has failed drastically. I know we are already paying one former coach, but his failure in leadership will cost the already anemic team for years to come.

  52. Espo Says:

I will remain at very confident unless we start off this way next year also. Lovie can’t block, pass, hold onto the ball on a routine play in overtime… He sure as hell can’t pass rush. He needs to find some ppl who can, and fast.
