Jameis, Sapp Proudly Wear Their Eagles Colors

January 22nd, 2018

It’s a Bucs life.

When DeSean Jackson recently advised Jameis Winston to re-capture his childhood approach to football, Joe’s not sure Jackson had this in mind.

Yes, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is a professed Eagles fan thanks to his father. Jameis has told the tale of his dad showing him Randall Cunningham film and Jameis getting hooked. It was Jameis’ team as a kid in Alabama, and he hasn’t let go.

Back in 2016, when it was announced the Bucs would face the Eagles during the preseason in Philadelphia, Joe asked Jameis how he felt when he saw them on the schedule.

“Man, I know y’all going to think I’m crazy, but when I first seen the schedule, I just seen the Eagles and I just got instantly just excited about that because that’s my favorite team,” Jameis said.

“So, we’re definitely going to take one game at a time. You know, there’s no reason to look ahead at things. This is the beginning of OTAs. But I’m definitely excited to play against those Eagles. You know, I’m sorry. Fly Eagles Fly. But, hey, I love those Eagles.”

Joe can’t bash a guy for staying true to his team, but damn, it’s a little odd to see the photo above from a Jameis Instagram video shot during the Eagles-Saints game last week. Wearing the jersey is a bit much. What next? Will Jameis be seen in a luxury suite at the Super Bowl donning the colors?

Still, Joe loves Jameis’ passion.

But the Twitter photo below shot yesterday in Philadelphia, it’s almost vile. Warren Sapp was no Eagles fans. No way. The Eagles were public enemy No. 1 for his glory days Bucs, yet look at the Buccaneers Ring of Honor member now.

    Keep hating on Jameis, lol

  2. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t matter. Our Bucs might as well wear others colors. Hell, we ain’t goin nowheres but back to the celler under this present regime anyways!!

  3. Bucsfan951 Says:

Ring of honor for sapp… he doesn’t care for that honor. I have (what’s supposed to be) his ring of honor jacket hanging up in my closet right now. Doesn’t mean much when you sell your jacket

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

I hope Jameis learned something from watching Foles throw the ball…a thing of beauty

  5. Negative Jeff Says:

JW – Nice Job. Stay at home all summer long. No nights out with the stupid crew you run with. No grabbing anything! Don’t Drink! It’s making you do stupid sh*t.

  6. AceofAerospace Says:

Jerome Brown was Warren Sapps friend. I see nothing wrong with that picture.

  7. Not there yet Says:

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this before in my life but not surprising if our franchise qb would be the first to wear another teams Jersey during the playoffs. He’s good but if I have to choose a leader of the franchise between GMC and Winston I choose neither and this has nothing to do with play on the field. I’d do it but that’s because I’m a fan and glazers don’t write my check and no longer do they pay Sapp either. This franchise is doomed because there’s no one on this roster that would call him out

  8. Not there yet Says:

But I am also rooting for the eagles to get one since they aren’t playing us

  9. AlteredEgo Says:

    I don’t like Eagle fans….even more than Pat fans….
I’ll be rooting for the Evil Empire this SB….

  10. LakeLand Says:

Wearing a Buc jersey is the Dumb look.

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

Now i will root for the Patriots.

  12. Gencoimports Says:

The Eagles and the city of Philadelphia have the worst fans. No class and a bunch of thugs. I hate the Patriots as much as anyone, but I have no choice but to root for them now. If the Eagles played in any other city I would root for them, but their fans do not deserve a championship.

  13. Garv Says:

    Go Patriots! That is all.

  14. mark2001 Says:

OMG…don’t tell Ndog…he would call them “weak”.

  15. Robert Says:

given the bucs/eagles past i’d be happier if here where eating crab legs off of it.

  16. 1sparkybuc Says:

    No big deal

  17. AC Says:

i guess John Lynch should give up on being the 49ers GM since ya know he is in the Bucs Ring of Honor.. it’s time we start taking this team for the joke that they are! Noone cares about this football team!!!

  18. DBS Says:

Ya Jameis. Did you see what a real Long ball connection looks like . And how many time it can be done in just one game! Try doing that yourself like Foles did.

  19. sj_bucsfan Says:

It is just like he is any other fan at the Den of depression, rooting for the other team. Funny thing, yesterday while watching the Eagles trounce the Vikings my oldest daughter (who has been to several Bucs games in the DOD) commented on how many people were wearing green jersey’s and sang the Eagles fight song with passion. She commented how she never saw anything like that in the DOD. To which I replied that is what happens when a city has a soul (pun on words) fan base. Not having with 1/2 the stadium filled with fans from somewhere else because 90% of the population is from somewhere else and also not stuck with a “fight” song like “hey hey Tampa bay Bucs know how to….. yuck.

  20. Rick Says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOO

  21. Broy34 Says:

What difference does it make. He played one of his best games in the thrashing of the eagles in 15. Nothing to see here. And who would wanna wear the hideous bucs jerseys anyway. They need to go back to their last jerseys. Immediately set the bar

  22. LakeLand Says:

Jameis Winston best friend is Ron Darby. And he is a starting CB for the Philadelphia Eagles. I have no problem with him wearing an Eagles jersey in support of his friend.

  23. 813bucboi Says:

I use to hate the eagles…..but once we closed out the VET with a win and opened up the new stadium with a win and embarrassed them in chip’s final year, I have no beef with philly…..GO BUCS!!!!

  24. ManzielMadness Says:

LOL Jameis gives it his all every time he steps on the field in a Bucs uni… not to mention the beat down he gave the Eagles a year ago. Nothing to see here…

  25. SmokeymountainBucsfan Says:

i wish he’d come tailgate in Tampa. Great player, horrible person… told him at the super bowl parade we had in Tampa for his fat a$$ and the boys that one day I’d love the opportunity for him to knock a football out of my hand. As he did this to my disabled nephew that day… Damn I’d love for your Big Fat Greasey Ass to come by our tent, close to the corner of Himes and Buffalo Ave. can’t miss us, Buccaneer Motor Home… Himes & MLK for the inbred Floridians

  26. pewterpirate99 Says:

So what if Warren’s wearing a Eagles jersey, BFD! He looked up to Jerome Brown and was friends with him, there’s no problem wearing that jersey. I’ll be the first to say I hated the Eagles and their fans when there was a little bit of an actual rivalry between our Bucs and them. But that was SOOOOOOOOOOOO LONG AGO that it doesn’t matter anymore. They’re great again and our Buccaneers suck goat balls……….AGAIN!! Oh what sh!tty Bucs life!

  27. Maze Says:

Embarrassing. Maybe Baker Mayfield will be available at 7

  28. oar Says:

Same Ron Darby as the “uber-incident” Darby….aah makes sense.

  29. AlteredEgo Says:

What those Eagle “fans” said to Joe Jurevicius while he was dealing with his sick child……I’ll never forgive or forget

  30. jmarkbuc Says:

Did the Eagles play the Saints last week? Could of sworn it was the miracle in minny

  31. oar Says:

Too funny…but but he played really good against them two years ago….zzzzzzz

  32. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Ace made a great point. Jerome Brown is a saint among the Cane faithful. And btw deservedly so. In addition to great talent he was a class act. I understand Sapp’s loyalty.

#3 is simply following his father’s team from childhood. Luckily #3’s father also loved Doug Williams which made he and his son Buc fans as well.

The two players did not pay for these jerseys…gave up nothing of value…made no committment..and #3 has never wavered on being glad about being a Buc.

Story simply does not resonate for me. In all honesty I could care less about who the Buc’s root for once their season is over.

Does anybody believe the uber-competitive #3 would take it easy in a game against the Eagles?

BTW…Uber means outstanding or supreme example..it’s not just the name of a company but I couldn’t resist a little wordplay there.

  33. oar Says:

I really can’t imagine a company wanting to use it…..StPete gets an extra credit today.

  34. Eric Says:

Wow just another embarrassment by our crappy Qb, Black Trump like his white counterpart cant stop doing dumb sh!t. What a loser! Never seen an active player actally wear another conference foe’s jersey. Making Tampa a joke again Black Trump!

  35. mark2001 Says:

AC…it is a job…for these guys. I know many fans don’t want to believe that, as for some of them their local sports franchise and sports personaility is more like a religion. But it is a job….entertainment. A great job and great entertainment. But get real.

  36. Eric Says:

    Another Uber embarrassment!

  37. AlteredEgo Says:

I wonder how many fumbles and Int’s JW wishing will cause…

  38. HooliganSixx Says:

this sure does not look or feel right. the so called face of the franchise jaboo with the eagles jersey. not sure jaboo is the right guy to lead this team. fans bleed pewter and red + creamsicle. these current players don’t seem to. i’ve been a BUCS fan for 36 years and always will be. it seems that there still is a culture issue with the BUCS. it just makes me sad to see how far the BUCS have fallen since the super bowl championship in 2002. very sad BUCS fan, go bucs.

  39. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Maybe Glazers need to hold the bucs ransom again, so we’ll pay out and be gifted a Super Bowl again…

  40. Eric Says:

Our face of the franchise wearing the jersey of our most hated rival. No real Bucs fan will accept this as being okay. I have Winston for this more than all the other knucklehead crap combined. This is the unltimate loser mentality and nope its not GMC like aloit of you tatds claim. Eaggles fans are laughing at all of us and sone of you so called Bucs fans (really FSU Jameis fans ) are just fine with it. Ready to puke right now! I will not go to one Bucs game this season as a response tk tnis garbage!

  41. Eric Says:

Draft a Qb at 7 at trade this ghetto punk!

  42. Eric Says:

Only thing worse than a thug is a another team jersey waering DUMB as rocks traitor thug!

  43. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Eric

    Really?

  44. Alanbucs Says:

Big deal about nothing! Players where other teams jerseys or hats. He’s human.

  45. Bucnjim Says:

Hookers & blow promised to everyone wearing an eagles jersey! Look who showed up.

  46. mark2001 Says:

Eric…like I said…fans take this “team loyalty” far beyond what the players do. FA hits and there are rarely “hometown” discounts. They go with the money. Most aren’t from Tampa Bay…. the are football mercenaries. A different jersey is a few million more in the bank. Fans are the ones sweating, crying, living and dying their teams…not the players… as if it makes or breaks their cities. Pretty good marketing, wouldn’t you say?

  47. Wesley Says:

I hate to say it but go Pats. I hope philly never wins it all.

  48. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs inducted Jon Gruden in their Ring of Honor. But he’s wearing a raiders jersey as their Head Coach. John Lynch is GM of the 49ers, he’s in the Bucs Ring of Honor. But people have a problem with Warren Sapp wearing a Jerome Brown, Eagles jersey.

  49. Jr Allen Says:

Who cares. They were fans of the game before being professional athletes so in the offense which is usually early for us. Let them wear whatever they want to wear.

  50. Carolyn Friedman Says:

Hey everyone, been his childhood team plus there are four FSU friends on this team so understandably he would be rooting for them! Called loyalty!

  51. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Great point about his friends Carolyn.

  52. tsyce Says:

REALLY?! This is what ur writing about?! How about stop being so much of homer, licking jw3’s nuts and be objective about s***. Try listening to bucs uncensored MAYBE u joes will learn real honesty is. WHO GIVES A F*** WHAT JÈRSEY JW&SAPP ARE WEARING!! WE GOT BIGGER CONCERNS. BASH JW FOR BEING STUPID WITH THE BALL

  53. Nate Says:

    the DIFFERENCE AND IRONY IS

SAPP shut down the vet in a championship run and its funny him wearing it…..

your QB doing it and mentioning his fav team over and over is a BIT MUCH

  54. Nate Says:

When you qb a team especially in a CONTRACT YEAR it seems a lil busch league I’m sorry

so what if things don’t work you want to replace wentz as QB’smh

  55. Casey Williams Jr Says:

Sapp is wearing a Jerome Brown jersey to support a Miami Hurricane legend who everybody said he reminded them of that’s why he wore number 99

  56. SCBucsFan Says:

    Go Pats, I guess.

  57. JIMMY T Says:

Hey Negative Jeff, when have you EVER heard of Jameis being a drinker? Name one time? You cant! Unlike Johnny Manziel, who always was seen partying in college that NEVER happened with Jameis. He is a grown ass man and he is entitled to travel for events like the one in Arizona. Enough of the BS criticism. There will be no suspension, regardless of what Jameis hater Rick Stroud thinks Jameis will open the regular season in 2018.

  58. Jeffbuc Says:

i don’t like that at all. It really is the last straw. I have a defended all his dumb mistakes. But this is just a slap to all of us bucs fans face. I would never be caught dead in another teams clothing. And I am just a dumb fan who spends way to much on bucs gear and season tickets. I wish I never saw that. What in your right mind would even think that was a good idea to post.

  59. Jeffbuc Says:

And to sum up Eric post. Jameis is the black Donald Trump. And jameis is a ghetto punk. So Eric is a democrat who is also a racist. But he loved Obama.i don’t now if I’m more confused with Eric’s posts or jameis wearing an eagles jersey.

  60. dan lewis Says:

Jerome Brown wore #99 and died in a tragic car accident. He was form central FLorida which is where Sapp grew up about 100 miles away. I do not think its wrong for him to wear that in remembrance of his likely childhood hero and probably inspiration for pickiung the #99.

  61. James Craig Marlow Says:

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Let him fly, fly, fly away.

  62. Ed Says:

No big deal to me at least it shows he’s a fan and likes football, Would you prefer he spends his off time out of the country, disconnected from football. So many more pressing issues than jerseys. I’m more concerned that Nick Foles and even Blake Bortles can throw a deep pass that a receiver can get their hands on. I grew up in Philadelphia and pretty much everyone I went to school with moved out to the burbs. The old neighborhoods are run down but Center City and the areas around U of P are booming. Times have changed the current Eagles are a very impressive team. Yeah many Eagle fans are obnoxious but they have a class football organization and will be competitive for many years with their current young players and coaching staff. Let it go, these aren’t the same guys that beat the Tony Dungy Bucs and gloated on Tampa Bay. Last I saw our rivals are Saints Panthers and the dirty Falcons.

  63. Chris Schiefen Says:

Really? REALLY? Jerome Brown is Sapp’s boy from Miami. It’s why he wore the 99 in Tampa Bay. Jerome Brown died tragically way too soon. Big boy Bucs fans will understand all this in context. Is Joe(s) not one of these?
