Shaun King: It’s Jameis

April 24th, 2015

jameis 0407

Every time Mike Mayock says something outrageous about Jameis Winston, every time someone mentions Winston’s name in the same sentence as “Publix,” nervous Bucs fans who have been pining for a franchise quarterback freak out thinking the end is near.

The same fans think the slightest negative chatter will doom the chances of Winston coming to save the Bucs. Yet again, the Mariota Band got to otherwise intelligent Bucs fans and they freaked out. Not to worry, folks.

Leave it to former Bucs quarterback Shaun King to clear the air.

King, one of but three quarterbacks to lead the Bucs to an NFC championship game, is well-plugged in at One Buc Palace and he sent out a Twitter missive for Bucs fans to take a breath.

There you have it. No need to run to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and play Tom Brady. No need to start chugging antifreeze.

Jameis is coming. Be prepared for victory, something Bucs fans have not been used to in some time.

Ain’t king the same guy that said jameis was going to return to fsu another year? Yea that’s what I thought @joe kings sources are laughable at best. Lolz.

Knucknbucs sources have ASSURED me that th he bucs will pick a college player next thurs.
    -source my dead dog.

See Joe I can do it too.

  2. P'cola Buc Says:

Publix would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars if they would of had to pay all the advertising dollars for all the publicity they have been and will be receiving from the Jaimes Winston incident. All it cost them was the price of some crab legs…..and they even got that money back….. They should thank Jameis for this…lol

  3. PRBucFan Says:

    Lol good one knuck

  4. BucBoy Says:

No one cares what Shaun King thinks…Everyone keeps stating that Winston will mature when around mature/adult players. What do you call Bimbo Fisher and the coaching staff at FSU, peewee league? Fisher has a long history of putting fat, slow, lazy QB’s into a system with huge talent and making them look good. Winston did not look good with his interceptions and footwork (lack thereof).

But…Jose’…the Big Dog….the world are still covering for Winston. Winston’s work ethic is not something that is going to change by being paid million’s of dollars….it will only get worse! The Big Dog just laid down a grand that Winston will not make it 3 seasons in Vegas!

  5. Ray Rice Says:

Shaun Klump just wants a buffet buddy!

  6. HawaiianBuc Says:

Here comes the people saying how bad of a QB King was, which somehow in their eyes makes him a nobody when it comes to knowledge of the game, and more specifically the Bucs. Maybe Winston isn’t the guy we pick, but I promise you that King has better insight than every single one of us on this website (except maybe Joe). I’ll put a little more stock in what he says versus an anonymous poster.

  7. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Hard for me to believe anyone who really knows for sure who the Bucs are taking would divulge that info to King, Jaworski, or any media outlet. I still think Lovie and Licht are weighing all options still, even if they may be leaning towards a particular player. Bottom line…believe it when you see it with this pick

  8. John McKillop Says:

@ToesOnTheLine! agreed. Nobody on here knows for sure, Lovie and Licht say they have a favorite and are all agreed. But i am not sure, we have to wait and see. I think the pick will be Jmarc Winstota and we will all root for the Bucs no matter which qb they pick.

  9. port richey george Says:

Former Bucs coach Jon Gruden touts Florida’s Dante Fowler Jr. as the best defensive player in the 2015 draft.
I guess that is why dante visited one buc place several weeks ago.
bucs need an edge rusher. why waste the pick on Winston.

A Big Mac, with all the condiments, contains 540 calories, 260 of which come from fat. Total fat in a Big Mac amounts to 29 g, or 45 percent of the Food and Drug Administration’s daily recommended value (DV). Saturated fat accounts for 10 g, or 50 percent of your DV.

    #ShaunKing

  11. Rob Says:

Whew! Even more reason to believe Bucs will pick Marcus. King doesn’t “know” crap. Go Bucs

  12. Pillage and Plunder Says:

Shawn King is about relevant as a pimple on Mike Mayock’s butt. He looks like a plumped up baked potato. No story here…move on to another one of your Jameis love poems Joe!

  13. Waterboy Says:

I agree this should be a no brainer decision. How many top 50 defenses did Mariota face in college? How many did Winston face?

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Well….If Shaun King says it’s Winston…..it’s Winston…..too much credibilty there to ignore!!!

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

  15. JFF Says:

    good call @knucknbuck

King also said Jabari Parker & Rodney Hood would return to Duke (King is a Duke fan for some reason) last year…they both promptly declared for the draft tho evidently Duke didn’t need them.

But unlike Joe the Johnny Football lover, King was on board with Teddy Bridgewater last year, so at least he’s not totally incompetent at evaluating like Joe.

  16. Big Irish Says:

    Yo Ho Toil & Trouble
    All Around Tampa Bay
    We’re The Worst
    But We Pick First
Jamis Winston Will Save The Day

  17. DallasBuc Says:

Seeing is believing. I have no faith in the current leadership not to screw this up. King is just another media tool at this point and has no access to the Bucs draft room conversations.

  18. Bucfan4life Says:

My god this draft needs to get here NOW. I see the title of Joe’s articles and I immediately know what the posters will be saying. I predict that there will be 77 posts saying King is an idiot and eats too many hamburgers. It’s like Groundhog Day on this site at this point.

  19. bucs4lyfe Says:

Lol bucs are weighing all options haha some people are just slow. You don’t want the pick to be Winston so you take shots at king lol childish so childish, Joe your gonna lose a lot of posters next Thursday, because we won’t let up on bitter buc fans, I can do that cuz I just want a quarterback

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Every day is groundhog day outside JBF. You haven’t lived long enough to realize it.

  21. BuccaneEric Says:

Where’s 87 on this one? can someone make sure he’s ok! Drop the knowledge!

  22. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Sorry Bucsyfe the “slow ones” are the ones who think Jason Licht is turning his phone off over the next 6 days because he “really smiled” when he talked about Winston. Well except for Buc1987..I can overlook him willing the outcome that Winston is 100% absolutely the pick since this has been his dream scenario…kind of how I’ll be next year after the Bucs trade down this year to build DL and OL dominance and then use the Raiders (or Jets, or Browns, etc) #1 pick next year (from trading #1’s this year) in order to draft Hackenberg 🙂

  23. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Oh and for the true slow types…you know those who feel the need to call everyone else with a different opinion slow, I am not hating on Winston or any other player by simply saying the Bucs are probably exploring all their options right up until Thursday. Yes I will make no bones about it I would prefer to see the Bucs trade for more picks, fix a sh!tty OL, and draft a stud pass rusher, and roll with Glennon (and a day 2 or 3 rookie QB) this year so we see what we truly have at QB already. If the MG8 haters are right then we will suck again, have another good draft pick, and more important have an OL in place to protect the next QB (yes I like Hackenberg, but whoever the Bucs go with..). If Glennon thrives under Koetter than we can use draft resources elsewhere in 2016…simple as that. BTW I will not disappear from here if the team drafts Mariota or Winston, I’ll support either one. It’s Lovie and Licht’s hides if they select wrong not mine (or any of ours)

  24. BuccaneEric Says:

I think the pick is Winston as long as the dont get a hell of an offer. 3 #1s and 2 or 3 #2s might do it, depending on how far we trade back. We might be able to trade back to 5 and still get a QB.

  25. LargoBuc Says:

The Bucs need a quarterback. That is why they will probably pick Winston. Skill set, good work ethic. Good teamate. Natural leader. No reason for Winston not to be the pick. Jameis’ dirty laundry gets aired due to him being a heisman winning, championship winning star quarterback at a big school. He’ll be a great pick worth the first overall.

  26. BUC IT Says:

draft Jameis… draft Mariota…trade down. It doesn’t matter to me as long as we make the decision that makes us a championship team.

  27. Florida Hillbilly Says:

    #5

  28. pick6 Says:

“Publix would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars if they would of had to pay all the advertising dollars for all the publicity they have been and will be receiving from the Jaimes Winston incident. All it cost them was the price of some crab legs…..and they even got that money back….. They should thank Jameis for this…lol”

@P’cola buc…hey, why not get millions of dollars of brand exposure while a college athlete who can’t accept a free meal toils? isn’t that what the NCAA is all about?
