A Win For The Bucs’ Front Office

October 25th, 2026

“Jeff, this roster is so damn strong.”

Joe is not taking away today’s blowout “W” from Bucs players or coaches. It was well-earned, and it was a beautiful sight.

But the thunderous hammering of the Panthers was a nod to the reality that this Bucs team’s primary problems are not personnel.

Yes, Joe thinks Buccaneers Ring of Honor Jason Licht did a solid job roster building for this season. And yes, Joe knows Licht has detractors. Fans are free to disagree. It’s part of what makes being a fan beautiful.

For a moment or two this afternoon, Licht must have been thinking about what could have been during the Bucs’ 1-5 start if the Bucs could have found ways to tap their talent like they did today.

Are the Panthers a good team? No. But they’re certainly not bad. Joe would Carolina on par with the Browns and Packers, to teams the Bucs lost to at home.

Can the Bucs make a historic run and win the NFC South landfill? Doubtful. Why? Because the coaching staff isn’t up for history.

And it will require history, as no team in 30-plus years has recovered from a 0-4 start to make the playoffs.

FIRE JASON! FIRE JASON! FIRE JASON!!

    says the loser low iq….idiots

  2. Steve V Says:

    Hahaha! Right back in it!

  3. MonsVenusVIP Says:

Knowing those a-holes, they’ll probably have contract extensions waiting for them when they land back in TPA.

  4. SkunkApe Says:

Our 2 wins relied on ridiculous rushing yardage and turnovers. When we have to throw and we don’t win the turnover battle, we lose. 1950’s football.

  5. Dale99 Says:

    Fire Todd Bowles

  6. Name(Required) Says:

Without a three fumble game from your starting QB this team would be in significantly better shape. Joe, you have to admit that while coaching has it’s faults, there’s been plenty of players not making plays to hurt this team this season so far.

  7. MattsC Says:

    Madmax: I agree

  8. dan the bucs fan Says:

We will beat Atlanta next week and be a half game out of first place. We have been winning every game this season except one this is best team in the NFC South and today proved it!

  9. chad Says:

without jalon 2 4th quarter interceptions and sacks bucs would be 3-3 right now

  10. HeavyE Says:

Wow, if we didn’t start off at 0-3, just imagine, where we could be????

  11. Oxycondomns Says:

yeah not sure who was responsible for daniels decision but that could cost a playoff spot

What makes being a fan beautiful is when you have faith in your team, lift them up, and it pays off.

Went into this one predicting a win. Still can lose two games and still have a “turn around” technically. Will it happen? Many think it cannot.

But…if we lose a 3rd game and it turns out to be a tie-breaker with the Panthers again? This game gave us the tie breaker. No way they beat us by so many points when we play them next.

  13. chad Says:

if we didn’t start the season 1-5 imagine where we would be right now

  14. Marine Buc Says:

    7-10.

    3-3 in the NFC South.

    Been saying it since July…

This game was a bit of a pleasant surprise – and I am LOVING it!!!

    Finally!

Atlanta just beat San Fran. Don’t count on us next week.

Is competing for a division title really what you want if it means Bowles is back next year? Not me.

Just lose baby. Fire Bowles. FIRE SALE NOW.

  16. SkunkApe Says:

For those loving the win… Just imagine Todd Bowles returning as head coach next year. Really? Is that what you want?

  17. Pops Malone Says:

Well stated Joe! And I agree totally…

  18. #1bucsfan Says:

I’m not with the fans who think the Bucs should let licht go. That would be a huge mistake. Today proves that his draft picks are talented and it’s coaching. Is licht perfect hell no not even close but he’s dam good. Hes done so much even building team good enough to win a SB and having TB12 want to be a part of it.

  19. Ron Potter Says:

AMEN!!! These players are talented!!! THESE COACHES ARE NOT!!!

  20. Outrigger Says:

Bucs are 2-1 on the road this year and 0-4 in the “Den of Depression”. I kinda wish the game against the Falcons was in Atlanta. I have no confidence that we’ll beat them at home.

  21. JustVisiting Says:

SkunkApe: What I want is for my team to play four quarters with aggression, and play to win. So, yeah, I’m loving this win, and it’s +exactly+ what I want.

  22. SkunkApe Says:

    @JustVisiting,

Every win increases the chance that Bowles returns next year, which would guarantee another year of mediocrity and frustration, and no chance at becoming championship level team… So enjoy the wins now, but you can’t complain when Bowles is coach in ’27 and they suck ass again.

  23. 80sBucsfan Says:

One win and now we’re talking stupid. GMAFB

Hell no. 2-5 is 2-5 and it sucks.

    Jason Licht sucks too.

    95-109

    LOSER %

Two wins means crap when you have 5 losses. Hell 5-5 sucks.

ZERO CONFIDENCE STILL IN BOWLES AND LICHT!

  24. Greg-therealone Says:

Do I really want Todd back? No, not really. But I will say this: Good for them! I enjoyed watching this a great deal. This is the team that should have been playing since the bye week last year. I remember wondering last year – “what happened?” It was really strange how the team collapsed. I still don’t understand it and I haven’t heard anyone explain it. Maybe this lasts this week. Maybe its a permanent change. I doubt it.

But hope is a mean tease. Mean.

  25. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

If the Bucs played like this each week – no fan would want coaching changes. So let’s see what the next few weeks look like. I keep saying that 8-9 and keeping Bowles is the worst scenario. That is unless that includes winning the division and a playoff win.

  26. ModHairKen Says:

It’s easy to be a keyboard critic. Little accountability.

When I am wrong, I need to say so.

Great job from beginning to end!

This was as dominant a performance as I recall other than the SBs, win 1 v. NO in 1978 and Barber closing the Vet.

  27. Saskbucs Says:

I agree with Skunk Ape and Mad Max.

    Licht is not the problem.

Wins do nothing for this team right now. Real fans want a higher pick (cause losses are what the Glazers ordered by retaining Bowles) and a new coaching staff.

Thats what helps the Bucs for 2027 and beyond. Worst case scenario is falling backwards into the playoffs at 8-9 and keeping loser Todd around.

Sucks to say that, sucks to be here, but us fans didn’t make this situation. We are just smart enough to know what is needed at this point.

I won’t apologize for hoping Bowles falls on his face. Clearly a terrible record and Bowles being bashed is what is required for ownership to make a change.

  28. Saskbucs Says:

Cause the goal is more Super Bowls and being the champ. Not division winners of a bottom 3 division in the league. Participation prizes are for extreme left wussies and Todd Bowles apparently.

  29. Miller5252 Says:

Everyone felt the same way after the Cowboys game and they blew it against the Steelers. 49ers were missing half of their team and this will be another home game for the Bucs. Any belief there may be for this team needs to wait for a few weeks to see if this is real. It was a fun game to watch for a change, but let’s see what this time next week brings

  30. Obvious One Says:

I’m with those on the side of keeping Licht as well. It’s not bis fault that we’re at 2 and 5.
Yes. He has Not been perfect and man THAT’S a fact. But you HAVE TO ask yourself, who in our history has brought this much talent on a consistent bases to our team more than Licht has? Nobody’s even close is the truth.

Licht’s job is to bring in the talent. He’s done that in LARGE amounts. It NOT his fault if they loose their will to be GREAT due to other fools… Winfield Anyone? What a waste. He’s just going through the motions BECAUSE he’s lost his heart. His desire to be GREAT hqs dissappeared! Is THAT Licht’s fault? Not a chance! That’s on the guy who’s job is to “Inspire Greatness” that’s ANOTHER PERSON’S JOB!

Who job is it to “teach, coach, and motivate, and inspire greatness” from that talent? Well, I can tell you for a FACT that it isn’t Licht…. He will of course but that’s not what he does.

Licht HAS however provided the talent to BRING HOME THE LOMBARDI! We “might have” the talent currently to make a run on another Ring, IF the glazers would get out of his way and let him DO HIS JOB WITHOUT interference from the only ones who could stop him from doing it again with hasty, cap tanking decisions before Anybody HAS TO PROVE THEMSELVES! That’s something he simply can’t control.

And if you’re going to comment that it Licht that continues to advise the glazers to keep bowles, you’re gonna have to ask yourself “Why Would he Do That”?

Licht IS the MAN who talked “Arians out of retirement” to give us a REAL COACH! HE IS the man who found away to convince TOM BRADY to do what seemed IMPOSSIBLE! He came to us. The lowly Bucs. “THAT” COULDN’T HAVE BEEN an easy sale even WITH Arians stoking the fire. Licht Immediately bent over backwards to bring some of THE FINEST TALENT to play for us FOR that dream….!

So KNOWING THAT as “facts”, why would Licht WANT TO stick with bowles?? A loser WAY before he darkened our doorstep with the MASSIVE fall from grace that we are now experiencing “Overall” NOT TODAY however. We had a GREAT DAY TODAY! And that talent you and I saw out there dominating… Licht Brought THAT talent here. He’s DOING his job…

Please tell me one thing or two like WHY WOULD LICHT (after all he’s clearly willing to do to WIN), why would he CUT HIS OWN THROAT? ESPECIALLY SO DEEPLY on his way down to the rocky floor of the 500 foot (mediocre) Cliff???? Not to mention Killing his own job AND (some might say) his LEGACY with a tur..d as he flushes his once in a lifetime chance for a “Hall of Fame career”? That JUST DON’T add up.. He’s not that dumb.

But bottom line … the talent IS HERE and WAS HERE! And THAT IS his main job.. What happens after he delivers ISN’T ON HIM…

If the Bucs played like this each week…

And after 4+ years of Bowles as HC, we know that is not going to happen.

    Dream on delusion-boy.

  32. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Odds of playoffs are horrible (the 92’ Chargers had to go 11-1 to do it). The NFC South might be more forgiving if say the Bucs go 7-3 (and assuming the Bucs can pretty much sweep all the division games)? The margin for error is so slim, but we’ll keep hope alive for another week at least.

  33. SkunkApe Says:

After a win, the delusional people appear with their sparkles and rainbows and unicorns… boy oh boy if we can just do this every week, we won’t need to fire Bowles and we can just enjoy winning! Yaaaay!

These are the people that cult leaders target when recruiting.

  34. ATLBuc Says:

We surely did better by not having drive stopping penalties. Hear that Godeke??

I don’t really drink, so let’s say I’m pretty sober… And I am VERY SOBER about what this win means (nothing) and about the quality of our head coach (poor) and about the chances we have to be a good team if he stays as HC (none).

I’m sober. I want to win championships, not just beat up on the least bad team in the worst division in football. I’ve been following this team for too many damn years, most of the terrible to mediocre, to be satisfied with consolation prizes and meaningless division titles. Sorry, maybe you like your participation trophies.

  38. MelvinJunior Says:

Dude. It’s ONE GAME. It’s THE NFL. It happens. Good GOD. It’s THE TRASH NFC SOUTH… I mean, how FAKE. So, the next time they get boat raced by an average team… Let’s see that big article (that will never happen) CRUSHING the FO then.

  39. Bucsfan951 Says:

Will the Bucs make the playoffs this year?… nope! But what they’ll do is put together a run that’ll get them close to making the playoffs making it just outside the premium picks for the draft and make the glazers decision hard as to keep or fire Todd.

  40. CyberDilemma Says:

You can continue to spin it any way you want to but the sole difference was there wasn’t any QB turnovers in this game by the Bucs. That is what has haunted them since the bye week last season. Take away the turnovers and they are winners.

  41. BuccaDawg Says:

Ok ,I’ll eat my share of. ” CROW” I have certainly done my fair share of bitchin, & moaning over the past year or so. So here we go, the Bucs played their tails off today in what was 👍 is & always will be a MASTERPIECE of BUCCANEERS Football. If they play at the level they played today not many if any other team would beat them. Maybe It’s one week , maybe it’s start of a historic run that WINS the South Crown or NOT !! If today is the new standard then consider me apologized, I mean I’m always BUCS fan, have been for 50 yrs the senery gonna change, G. O BUCS !!!!! BUT “: I STILL THINK WE NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE T THE TOP , at least FIRE The HC !!!!!!

  42. Buc Wild Says:

The 1992 Chargers made the playoffs after an 0-4 start

  43. Heath Hunt Says:

So many people watch this team every week and want them to lose every week for the last four years. it’s so weird

  44. Stpetematt Says:

If the offensive line plays like this all year from now on we go 11-5. Would be incredible of course.

  45. Kenton Smith Says:

    Stpetematt. We can’t go 11-5. So we’ll take 12-5.

If you’ve been following for so many years, you should recognize that we have a very special defense. As much ppl want Todd gone, and I do too, this defense is playing lights out!! With the exception of the Pittsburg game, we have been castrating teams’ #1 receivers and we lead the league in rushing defense. This team is ready to explode!!!
Every year we have an end of season collapse. This year, is it so hard to believe that we had a beginning of the season collapse and win our 8-9 games afterward?

  47. Kenton Smith Says:

10 games left, 8 wins should (10-7) should take the division. Win 7 of 10 and we’re 9-8 and that might do it. But to be really contending, and hot going into the playoffs, we need to win 8 or 9 of these last 10- and they’re going to go quicklike. It’s nut cutting time in the NFL. IT’S EXCITING!!

  48. Pewter Power Says:

That’s twice! Just when it seems the bubble will burst and the fire sale was coming somehow this team woke up. It happened for Dallas then the next week an embarrassing lost. Every year he doesn’t this and delays being fired now he’s delaying Bucs being sellers for next years coach

  49. Oscar Says:

Tell us Melvin when the last time was that this team was boat raced by an average team.

  50. Itzok Says:

Tom Brady deserves a statue in front of ray Jay. He was the greatest qb of all time and should have been gm executive of the year in 20. He brought the talent that won the auperbowl and ignored Byron leftwichs nonsensical game plans to just win.

Licht didn’t hire Bowles and doesn’t have the ability to fire Bowles. Therefore he has drafted well. He can.t make the coach play David walker. Licht gets to stay and help pick the next headcoach

  51. orlbucfan Says:

SkunkApe, I sure don’t recall you on here last year. In fact, are you one of the negative nellies going by a different name now? How about firing yourself? You are boring. Licht is one of the best GMs in this league. Glazer Boyz lucked out big-time when they gave him a chance. How about being a loyal Bucs fan since 1979? You can bet I have seen/heard it all. And losing? Double-digit loss seasons? Listening to my team set records for losing? Yeah, I’m a veteran. This team is much better than its record. My focus is on Mayfield. After that disaster of a first game, I was about ready to cut off his head. He better start proving himself.

If you’ve been following for so many years, you should recognize that we have a very special defense.

    1. I’ve been following this team more closely than 95% of fans for nearly 50 years.
    2. Yes, we do have a good defense right now. Amazing. Bowles finally doing at least part of his job.
    3. Bowles is still a terrible head coach, and our post-season prospects will always be limited as long as he’s head coach.
    4. 4+ years is WAAAY more than enough time to show if he’s a championship caliber coach and he clearly isn’t.
    5. Anything that helps him keep his job in 2027 is detrimental to the future.
    6. None of this means I’m not happy for the players or the coaches who have worked really hard.
    7. As a long long long time fan who has suffered from a lot of bad teams, I want a coach who can put us at the top of the league every year. Todd Bowles isn’t that.
