At least the Buccaneers aren’t a robotic group just going through the motions.
The team doesn’t seem to have any check-is-in-the-bank players.
Still, caring isn’t cause for celebration. It’s expected.
Bucs edge rusher coach Larry Foote, a former linebacker himself, talked about keeping the team mentality right this week on the Buccaneers Radio Network. (Joe listens on 95.7 FM WDAE.)
“Well, it’s tough. You know, there’s a bunch of miserable men right now,” Foote said. “Times like this, I’ve been in a few of them and I’ve been in the league probably over 25 years. That’s why the wins are so sweet, and that’s why people celebrate the way they do.
“It’s hard to win in this league and you see throughout the league, when teams win, you see the celebration in the locker room. Not just the playoffs, but in the regular season. It’s hard to win. And we’re 1-5, all of our goals are still in front of us. We gonna take it one day at a time. But as a coach, you’re just trying to keep them guys motivated, you know, whatever it takes. You gotta push buttons, whatever. But keep them guys motivated. We’re fighting, just one day at a time.”
Joe would have preferred to hear Foote talk about how self-motivated the Bucs are, but that’s a story for another day.

I would love to see Foote calling defensive plays. The couple of times he has done it was fun to watch. Players playing on fire. Oh by the way, he was right about David Walker. Maybe that is why Todd is limiting his snaps.

The QB position is what is holding this team back.
Is it the players or the coaching?
OLine tends to have a more difficult task when the QB is ineffective.

A different set of coaches and this team could be one of the tops in the league. They have the talent.

Players are only miserable if you create a miserable environment! People in general are motivated by respect. Whether you’re in the NFL or a regular job. I agree you don’t always need a rah rah guy, BUT you do need someone who is respected and always has your back no matter what. Way too much flag waving and finger pointing out of this coaching staff to be appreciated or respected.

The most disheartening aspect of this season thus far has been the Bucs’ offense. Not only have they only averaged 20 PPG, but they’ve also continually put our defense in terrible field situations with their 11 turnovers (very close to 2 per game), but they’re only producing an average of a meager 4.7 YPP. That’s the worst any Bucs’ team had done since 2013 when Schiano was HC and we averaged only 4.5 YPP … and went 4-12 on the season. An offense that’s THAT UNPRODUCTIVE can’t sustain drives, nor score a lot of points.

This is my last year as a season ticket holder. At least when I watch from home I can turn it off, and don’t have to drive 1.5 hours. They didn’t play terrible against the Steelers, however sitting with a bunch of Steelers fans sucks.

They suck. And with better coaching, they would not suck.
They should be ANGRY and it should be directed at Bowles. Last week, the stupid decision with 1:56 left and they could have run the clock out, but they let a rookie QB drop back and throw.
What stupid idiot thought that was a good idea?
Then going soft on Rodgers in OT. Bowles played to lose. And he did.
I don’t think this team has many quitters on it. But damn, how much coaching mistakes can they take before their spirits are broken?

Players can’t feel this same irrational anger as fans, because players know they have jobs to do and when they aren’t doing them well enough to point anger outward instead inward is really not being accountable as a player.
It’s only easy for fans to tie everything directly back to coaching, the same people who consume the games to watch players play, but when something goes wrong it’s own coaching and when things go right it’s in spite of coaching. Just shows those fans might not know how playing for a coach or coaching players even works, but it makes for “edgy” talking points lol
That’s a really weird way to look at things to be honest.
