Todd Bowles Has A Rookie Favorite
October 21st, 2026
Todd Bowles has been known to have favorite players and share that information publicly.
Former Bucs egde rusher Carl Nassib once earned that label from Bowles, for example.
This week, Bowles named another favorite during his chat with Aileen Hnatiuk of WFLA-TV this week. That’s rookie nickel cornerback Keionte Scott, Tampa Bay’s fourth-round draft pick.
“Key is probably one of my favorites just because he came in the fourth round and kind of plays the nickel spot which I’m kind of partial to … and he plays the game with the right temperament,” Bowles said. “So I really love the way he plays.”
Earlier this season, Bowles said Scott has been one of the best defensive players on the team.
Scott had a career high eight combined tackles on Sunday, including his first career sack, and he ranks third on the Bucs in that category behind Josiah Trotter and Tykee Smith.

Todd Bowles’ defensive strategy is pure genius: line up the potentially star pass rushers, instruct them to sprint backwards in coverage like clumsy 260-pound safeties, and pray the quarterback gets bored before finding an open receiver.
Why let edge rushers actually rush the passer when you can obsess over the secondary like flies on ? Bowles treats the nickel corner like the messiah and pass rushers like overpaid slot defenders. The result? A neutered pass rush, a QB who has enough time in the pocket to check his email, and a defense that overcomplicates literally everything just to make DBs the stars. Pure perfection.

Say what you want about Bowles as a HC or DC, but he can coach the heck out of the Nickel. Just saying.

No, that’s diaby and Bain that are supposed to cover the t.e. on passing downs.
DUH…

Didn’t need to click to know who he was picking. Surprise! It’s the DB. Todd just wants all 11 on D to be DBs.
Punch the ball out, get picks, turn the ball over! Sacks don’t matter, we don’t break down the QBs body and will, just his mind with my advanced scheme tricks!

I have a favorite too, and I’ll learn his name when he is hired as our next HC.

Talent is on the team. Talent on the coaching staff is not well the HC and OC both are garbage
