Pile Of Negative Runs For Bucky Irving

October 19th, 2026

Data nerds across the NFL landscape will tell you that a full-time running back will have about one out of 12 runs go for negative yardage.

Yesterday, Bucky Irving had four negative runs in just 19 carries. And he had one carry for no gain. For the math challenged, that’s zero yardage or less on 26 percent of his carries.

Before yesterday’s Steelers-Bucs kickoff, Pittsburgh ranked 17th in the NFL in yards per carry allowed (4.0 yards per rush). On Sunday, Bucs running backs combined to average 3.0 yards per rush.

Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson was supposed to be a run-game guru. The healthy Bucs’ offensive line was supposed to be able to move bodies.

Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said Sunday’s game would be won in the trenches.

just dumb everyone knew steelers weren’t as retarded as the cowboys DC is. You sell out on stopping the run blitz the young QB and make him beat you from the pocket.

Guess what the young QB choked right on que turned it over down the stretch multiple times

The steelers defense isn’t even good and they just executed the basic gameplan any teenager would deploy to beat the Bucs.

My question is how the heck did they average 3.0 yards a carry. I saw Bucky get stone walled carry after carry, leading the team to being 2nd and 8 time after time with a rookie undrafted quarterback. Why you would do that to yourself is unfathomable.
Now let’s talk about taking a timeout in the third quarter so that you can dial up a play that goes incomplete and you get penalized, leading to a punt and the loss of a critical tool that is to be used at the end of the game. You want to call a timeout in the first quarter, knock yourself out. During the second half, take a penalty or run the play you have in the third quarter.

This what happens when you try to make a 3rd down scat back into your bell cow back. Just using him wrong. If you want to be a running team you need to do what KC did. Sign one of the best backs in the NFL. Hate to break it to Bucky fans, he ain’t one.

Not a surprise as last week the Steelers gave up only 45 yards to Jonathan Taylor. Their run defense is stout and the Bucs OL is flaccid.

One of the smallest backfields in the NFL

  6. Bucnjim Says:

Itzok, the exact same thing I was thinking. Everyone knew their game plan was to stop Irving. No one can block when there is 8 or 9 men in the box every play. The only chance they had was to run Daniels on scripted misdirection plays because the Steelers were so aggressive in pursuit.

Clearly another awful offensive game plan. All the offense had to do is not loose the game. Well, the offense lost the game by throwing the ball too much. 21 incomplete passes. That stops the clock for 12 minutes. That is 12 more minutes the Steelers have the ball and 12 more minutes our defense is on the field. That is why we lost TOP by 8 minutes. Two interceptions also the more you throw it (43 times) the greater the chance for interceptions. Baker is not in there so that BS is out the window. The offensive coordinator lost another game for us. This guy was not good at Atlanta and he is worse here. I’m sure there are obtuse reasons w can not replace an OC at this point in the season. The best one is we should have done it after the pre season and doing it now will make us look stupid. This is really unbelievable.

  8. AMI_Chris Says:

The O-line got dominated and from the end zone replays, it looked like Bucky was running into a black wall on many plays. Our guys weren’t even in the frame.

  9. ryan Says:

Oh look we wasted another down with a wasted Bucky forced run. It’s as if hw didn’t learn from Grizzards failure doing the same dumb nonsense last season

  10. BassCrazy Says:

BUCS 0-4 at HOME, have failed to score more than 19 points in any of them. If you cannot score more than 2 TD’s at HOME, you STINK. This OC is more garbage and someone needs to explain what the hell is going on here? You won’t get a straight answer from either Bowles or Licht. Something in Tampa STINKS like GARBAGE!!!!!!!

  11. BucaneroJim Says:

The play call of running up the middle on first downs is on the OC, not Bucky. No runs to the outside? Tucker might have bounced off the pile outside.

  12. Youngbucs Says:

All those negative runs were shotgun delayed handoff trash

  13. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Just gotta coach it better, block it better, run it better, play it better, scheme it better, tackle it better, win it better.

The pure unmitigated genius of the defensive guru Todd Bowels.

Drink it in. 31 other teams are jealous.

  14. Erik with Unique Modern Art Says:

When Coen was successful here, we threw on 1st down and ran on other downs for the most part.

That was the main formula for success and these morons are running on 1st down almost every time. So predictable.

  15. Bucslosecoverthestadium Says:

Yeah but he is a nice guy and players like him. Cuz that’s what’s important. Who cares about winning. They should just stop practicing and spend that time at the spa. So relaxing….It’s a 3-28 Bucs life.

  16. 40 year Bucs fan Says:

Yep. That’s what happens when you don’t play a sorry defense like the cowgirls.

mean gene retired solely because he only likes to say:

    “alstott up the gut”

he got sick of saying “bucky up the gut”……because it makes no sense…no sense at all
