Healthy Offensive Line, Sad Running Game

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
The Bucs’ heralded offensive line was supposed to be healthy and enforcing its will with a playcaller who knew how to scheme things up.
If your scoring at home, the Bucs have two first-round draft picks on their starting O-line. They also have two second-round picks and a solid veteran in Ben Bredeson. Everyone is 28 or younger and the whole crew has played a bunch of games together.
These guys are supposed to be a glass-eating, nail-spitting bunch of angry workers defending the home turf. They’re not.
Today against a smothering Vikings pass defense, the Bucs needed to move the chains on the ground. Or they at least needed a quality day on the ground.
Instead, Bucs running backs took 18 carries and netted just 42 yards, not even 2 1/2 yards per carry. The longest scamper was an eight-yarder from Bucky Irving.

I need to see the ALL22…
To me, it looked like 90% of the issues were TE’s and RB’s getting ran over, or missing blocks. I could be wrong, however, as always that’s just live observations watching the game, and it can be hard at times to tell based on TV views what was happening. But I don’t think the line itself was as bad as people seem to be claiming.
Also, plenty of times, Baker had plenty of time, and did his normal routine where he starts patting the ball, bouncing up and down, then runs in a circle. Again, the ALL22 will show if there really wasn’t anyone open, or if it’s just Baker being Baker. Last week when everyone complained about the line, it was, in fact, mostly Baker that was the issue.

Aside from 2014, this o-line has ranked in the bottom 6 in running over the last 5 years. Twice ranked dead last. Acting as if this is an elite group of maulers is silly.

That display of refereeing today was the worst Iâve seen in 60+ years of watching nfl football, and Iâve seen some doozies over the years. 2 baker face mask, in the open and not called, a chop block that wasnât, and countless holding penalties that were called; all on the same team, that werenât, a holding on 87 that was returned for a td and not called. No recognition. None. Wtf Over. I mean it was disgusting. Call it sour grapes or review the tape. Donât be afraid.

Rachaad White played his heart out for this crappy franchise
For 4 years, he played his butt off, and only missed 1 game
And they didn’t even offer the man a new contract
But they resigned Sean Tucker and gave Kenneth Gainwell $14 million
And they set Kyle Trask for years, never gave him the opportunity to compete
He always played with the backups
This is nothing but Low Life, bottom of the barrel scum
Yaya has never missed a game, he’s still playing on his rookie contract
They haven’t even discussed an extension with him
They scapegoated Josh Grizzard last season, the same with Leftwich

Itâs disturbing that all of a sudden this offensive line canât run block. If you canât run block and rack up big runs during a game odds are you wonât be real successful passing the ball. Never was it on display more than today. What was even more disturbing was the announcers saying the Viking defense knew when we were going to run the ball, shouting it out before the snap. The announcers said anytime they send the tight end in motion itâs a run. If a good defense knows when you are going to run or pass they have a leg up on the offense. Not a good look for Zac Robinson.

Its coaching.
Liam Cohen had this line working in unison with the play calls. Our OC play calls are easily read on the fly by the defense. The defenseive players can be heard just before snapping the ball “IT’S A RUN”. We made no adjustments.
Meka and Baker need to figure it out. Perhaps the OC can watch the Rams or 49erz games and get a clue how to use such talent.
This getting so bad; i give my West Club tickets away almost every game. Yes, i give them away. This week i had a hard time finding someone who would take them.

Carville had the OL humming with Coen in 2024. He just didn’t forget how to coach. Do the line blocking assignments come in with the play? If so that would also be a Robinson problem. As someone mentioned in another post, Cousins is having a good year and not running for his life with LV this year. Just thinking out loud as a pissed off buc fan.

Exactly what I was thinking, Robinson is asking this Ol to run a a scheme (there’s that word again) that is not their strength. Coen I believed ran a different scheme running the ball. Also Mauch may not be 100% from the knee last year, surely he is struggling. Barton should be a guard????

When the Bucs have a running play called, Wirfs is on the line of scrimmage.
When a passing call is played, Wirfs lines up off the line of scrimmage. Actually got called once for lining up in the backfield.

Times for Daniels! Wishing no ill will to Baker, but Iâd like to see Daniels start at least the next few games if not all of the remaining games. Why not? Can get worse and will be entertaining at least.
Can wait to see our offensive stats for this game. I saw 3rd down and 30 twice, so itâs not gonna be pretty. Our offense is trash. I thought our D played fairly well, but Kyler Murray isnât great with his arm.

In the same way vita was getting credit for those breakups, so we’re the defensive backs I believe I seen a couple 4 anzalone as well. McCollum Parrish tykee it shows who made the tackle n all that. Can look up the box score so u can their totals of their stats as well

Some of the time, yes.
Other times, no.
Many times Baker pulled down and run when there wasn’t any danger.
What we need the ALL22 to see is what was really happening. Multiple ways to counter a very heavy blitz team, generally it’s by getting the ball out quickly or in the screen game. Today, unlike weeks 1 and 2, the Bucs didn’t use the screen game, which seems dumb. But it also sure looked like a lot of times Baker was supposed to get out the ball quickly, and instead of throwing it, he held it. What the ALL22 will tell us is if – like last week – Baker had guys open and just refused to throw the ball, or if guys were not open.

Week 3, in 2024, was a home loss to the Broncos where the line (and offense in general) looked worse than it looked today. Rashaad White saved Baker’s life about 20 times that day after Sucke let free blockers rush him.
The following week, vs the Eagles, Coen completely changed up the offense to get the ball out quick – and the offense took off.
So there is always that hope if you want to be an optimist.

Rod Munch: Maybe so. I was watching without distraction this week, and it really seemed like the Vs were bringing fast pressure. Those plays might have made a stronger impression, though, and I wasn’t keeping a tally. Winning and losing are just part of the game, but I hate to see people underperform. If a team I played on failed to cover the spread 12 times in a row, I would lose my damn mind.
