Todd Bowles Punts On Super Bowl Game Reflection

Todd Bowles is not the kind of guy to put his feet up and think about the old days.
Bowles is 62 years old but he’s not in approaching retirement mode with his mind on the past.
Before Saturday night’s kickoff against the Chiefs in Tampa, Bowles was asked to share his most cherished memories from the Bucs’ Super Bowl win in February of 2021. Reasonable question. After all, the Super Bowl was a night game against the Chiefs in Tampa, so perhaps the setting would spark a fond recollection.
Buccaneers Radio Network play-by-play man Tony Castricone asked the question but Bowles wouldn’t bite.
“Honestly, after that time, I haven’t had much time to reflect back on [the Super Bowl], because the seasons go on and on, so you really don’t get a chance to reflect on that other than this being a preseason game,” Bowles said. “I’m sure when I retire or I’m out of coaching and I get a chance to look back on some things, that’ll be one of the most cherished things I’ve probably done in my career.”
Castricone would not be denied. He went back at Bowles and asked for a “specific memory when I ask you about Super Bowl 55?”
Bowles played along this time but it wasn’t about football.
“The biggest thing for me was my sons running out on the field after the game giving me a hug,” Bowles said. “So that was probably more gratifying than anything because I didn’t have any [kids] when I won [a Super Bowl] was a player. So it was a little different just to see the smiles on their faces. That made me happy.”
Joe finds it interesting that Bowles said he hasn’t really reflected on the Super Bowl win. Perhaps that comment was Bowles’ way of saying he doesn’t dwell on the past and doesn’t want his players to, either.

That was a very awkward segment for both Castricone and TB
Castricone is new to the franchise and is role and strength is calling football games and not Q&A .
Castricone has to build over time is part in Buccaneer history.
He sure has a set of pipes as they say in the profession

Castricone had some work to do when he’s not in the middle of play by play.
Bowles is a dignified man. He’s not going to spike the football when Andy Reid is in the house.

I referenced a TubeYou Buccaneer channel that has the best video game breakdown of the last game and it was deleted.. odd and arbitrary rules as there are many examples of referencing to the wide world of football outside of the Joesphs

Those are valid answers. The Todd hate is over the top around here. Is he a great head coach? Not so far. But people forget that a lot of things have to go right. Especially injuries. Remember when Andy Reid was run out of Philly for not winning a title? No one mentions that now.

I would have asked Todd about the ill fated Zero Blitz he tried versus the Rams in the playoff game which TB12 engineered an amazing comeback in. One call by Todd probably cost the Bucs another Super Bowl and made Cooper Cupp a hero. Has Todd ever owned that loss or has he dodged accountability on it like he has with his numerous gaffes and failures as head coach?

Dave… it is a valid question, but any D coach can tell you the concept was to make the offensive execute a very low percentage play. Stafford made a perfect throw and Kupp was having a magic year. That wasn’t a terrible call. He made the Rams draw an Ace and they did.
