SirVocea Dennis Hit On Chris Godwin Sparks Dustup

August 18th, 2026

C’mon!

Late in today’s full-pads practice, Joe was ready to scream. Chris Godwin, who Joe likes to say is in mint condition, caught a 10-yard pass in the right seam and took a shot on the left shoulder from inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis.

This was no bang-bang play. Godwin already had the ball fully secured.

Defenders were asked to use a lot of discretion and not tackle to the ground today. So this hit against on a legendary, 10th-year Buccaneer stood out. And it wasn’t just Joe.

About five offensive players ran over and got in Dennis’ face and a dustup ensued. It was nothing like the punch-fests and all out brawls against the Jets in New Jersey last week, but a message was sent.

Joe’s not eager to put all players in bubble wrap, but there’s no reason to be hitting Godwin.

Let’s just put Trotter on the first team with Anzelone and get it over with.

  2. KABucs Says:

The fellow offensive players are probably ready to throw down but I bet Chris took it in stride. Tough sob and not a diva.

  3. LouisFriend Says:

SirVocea is one of those guys I don’t expect to see on an NFL roster next year. He’s proof that teams make their financial numbers work by squeezing as much as they can out of players on rookie deals.

  4. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

This sounds like the story Kevin Minter told about being a rookie in AZ and his first padded practice putting the beats on Larry Fitzgerald, then rightfully getting cussed tf out afterward lol

No harm, no foul, but Dennis is playing for his roster spot.

  5. Walter Says:

Really Voss? Try making a play against an opponent in a REAL GAME.

  6. Floridaho Buc fan Says:

Looks like someone wants to be cut….

  7. BakerFan Says:

but when everyone is raving about the guys who are about to take your job, what do you expect? Human nature erupts over common sense.

  8. TexasBuc 1776 Says:

    @Walter

    Exactly!

Hard not to be set up like that when your top 5 guys soak up so much of your cap number and are demanding more.

  10. Kidfloflo Says:

They haven’t learned a thing since the Red Menace was lost to a training camp injury not for only the year but his career! All key starters should be placed in bubble wrap until the season starts! We already have an injury prone team as is…jeez that’s all we need

  11. Whatevs Says:

Are you sure it was a 10 yard seam? If SirVocca made contact I would put money on a 30 yard out

  12. Larrd Says:

Good for SirVocea. Be fast and aggressive.Godwin will get hit from time to time. It is football.

  13. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

    Cut him.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

I may be the odd ball on this one lol….i honestly like it lol…SVD isnt backing down and he’s showing a sense of urgency.. the offense isnt backing down and they’re protecting their leader…

sounds to me like good hard hitting aggressive football…maybe the softness is leaving the building lol…

now, like someone mentioned above, lets see this aggression and sense of urgency in the game

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. Aaron Says:

Unless they were told Not to hit – really?

  16. Hodad Says:

He crossed the practice line. He’s desperate. First mention of him all camp, and it’s for a cheap shot. Surprised he was close enough to the play to hit him.

  17. Dennis Says:

The hate for voss here is stupid. Guy had over 100 tackles and 10tfl last year. If Trotter made the play today he would be called an animal and what bucs need on D. To those who say he will be out of football have no clue. He is still in running to start and will be picked up soon as released. This is first mention of voss in training camp on this site and waited for something that would cause more bias for Trotter as if he isn’t even in camp let alone running with ones.

  18. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Jose is asking for CG to practice for underwear football.

  19. Greg-therealone Says:

He needs to be off the team. The dude is useless as a linebacker. I can’t rewatch games from last year without being absolutely shocked that he is still on the team. How he made the team at all is a insanity. Don’t tell me special teams either. We had the worst coverage in the league.

  20. Kgh4life Says:

SVD wifed on tackles in real games and when it comes to practice, he all of a sudden can tackle.

  21. unbelievable Says:

SVD injuring Godwin would be the biggest play he’s ever made in his pathetic career.

    ^ Yup. What a douche

  22. MadMax Says:

    oopsie SVD….just learn from it.

  23. Dennis Says:

The hate is palpable. If Trotter made hit it would be he is anomalnucs need that. The bias is crazy. The guy who said he would be out of football clueless. He us a starter on a rookie contract. You guys act like Bucs had a D filled with Aaron Donald’s RayLewis and Revis Islands on field. 1 pro bowl from Name recognition in Winfield. Voss not reason for poor season.

  24. Dennis Says:

They would have said Trotter is an animal Bucs need that if he made the hit.

  25. Dennis Says:

1st mention of Voss for a reason. Trying to push the Trotter Alazone etc narrative. Media 101

  26. Buckit Says:

I want to see what ILB Fordham can do this preseason. Hope enough to jump in front of Bullock and Jackson, then eventually give Dennis a run for his money.

  27. Jmarkbuc Says:

Who names their kid some weird version of Courvoisier?

    Hennessy would’ve sounded better

  28. Bosch Says:

Could this shot on the shoulder just be incidental contact?

  29. Joe Says:

    The bias is crazy.

Yup. Joe fully and openly confesses this bias. Joe hates players who play like shiitte.

  30. Joe Says:

The hate for voss here is stupid.

    You forgot the second sentence:

    Thus, his play is stupid.

  31. Obvious One Says:

This is just another Bozo failure. They have NO respect for him and could care less about what he instructs them to do or not to do.

And throwing the BUM dennis out the door would likely be an upgrade team wide. What a loser! Then again I suppose he’s just doing his part to MAKE SURE we crash and burn again this year…

And with each day that goes by without movement from our illustrious GM to fill holes like he DID NOT dating back from Brady’s last year here getting Blasted in the backfield and EACH YEAR THERE AFTER failing to DO HIS JOB OF FINDING “TALENT” IN OUR MOMENTS OF DESPERATE NEED! Well, here we are again! We don’t have corners! It’s something severe with licht every single year…

OF COURSE that “Lack Of” had A LOT to do with the clown show pretending like he knew what he was doing as we started our decent BACK TO the Den of Depressions, deep darkness. But I always “thought” that the GM HAD his finger on the pulse of the players. Well, NOT THIS ONE! He WON’T fill the holes when we need the help the MOST… And You just can’t COUNT ON SOMEONE LIKE THAT!

Bozo WILL force round about Dennis into the square hole. It’s what Bozo fails at best. Dennis is clearly an idiot so of course bozo wants him in there over our HIGH DRAFT PICK!

  32. Simple T Says:

Good to hear SVD hasn’t packed up and quit like all some of you dumba$$es think he should.

SVD had a few bad plays…. He needs to improve.
But he also made a lot of plays.

Guy needs to keep his head down and keep working – some of us are still rooting for him.

  34. greg-therealone Says:

I have absolutely no clue why anyone thinks SirVocea Denis is a good football player. Padding stats is not good football. He takes bad angles. He is frequently in the wrong gap. He couldn’t cover my grandmother. WHY?

  35. UGotRobbed Says:

That guy is usually no where close to opposing receivers…so I guess he took an opportunity to show he could actually deliver a hit on a passing play! Idiot! Get rid of that guy!!

  36. drdneast Says:

JmakBuc, I guess a mom who loves her cheap brandy.

  37. Dennis Says:

Can’t wait to see these new guys cover Gibbs Mccraffey Bijon Barkley etc plus elite tightends

  38. OurYear Says:

It’s football. It’s a contact sport. Hit or be hit. Quit fkn whining and get back to the huddle. Our fans are sooooooffffttttt!

  39. Kalind Says:

Come on. This level of stupidity can’t be condoned. Whether it’s Bowles pulling him off or Tristan Wirfs going full Bane “I was wondering what would break first….your spirit or your body.” On this halfwitted camp meat dolt. Something needed to be done

  40. No Mercy Says:

Oh yeah, you know that guy that just recovered from a major injury and is a very important piece to us winning games this season? Yeah let’s injure him! Ffs this Dennis guy is missing a few screws

  41. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

Wait a minute? He was close enough to an offensive player to hit him?

    So you’re telling me there’s a chance!!!!
