Simple Reason For Al-Quadin Muhammad Not Practicing

No reason to mess with the mojo.
New Bucs edge rusher Al Quadin-Muhammad shocked the NFL last season with 11 sacks in a rotational role with the Lions. For some reason, the Bucs were able to sign him for a lowball contract in free agency on a one-year deal. Glorious!
Muhammad has been a regular this spring at One Buc Palace during the voluntary session, but he has not been practicing until today, the start of mandatory minicamp.
Muhammad, 31, looked fit and quick. (Shouldn’t everyone in June?) He explained how he didn’t attend spring practices with the Lions last season and had the best year of his career, so he’s duplicating that in Tampa.
As Todd Bowles stressed last week, participation is “voluntary” for OTAs. Players don’t have to be there.
At least Muhammad was in the building.

I liked him with the Lions. There, he had a real head coach. Interested to see how far he regresses playing hot dog vendor in the deep end zone stands.

The best thing Bowles can do is to let him freelance along the line like Suh and JPP. No crazy drops in coverage to cover WRs 30 yards downfield.

Ya’ll got to give this BS talking point a rest already, both Suh & JPP dropped in coverage. Matter of fact, JPP had picks in back to back games in 2020. We don’t blitz the way we can and often time do, without being able to reliably drop guys a few yards toward the sideline to clog passing lanes and cover vacated patches of grass in zone concepts.
Mike McDonald, the Seahawks HC literally has a hook zone concept he pulled out a few times that got Emmanwori to blitz off the edge. When you’re a team that has to blitz to make up for a lower rate of pressure with just 4, you have to cover your butt taking guys out of the grass to pressure the pocket.
You’d think there were somewhere on the net fans can go learn this for themselves and stop whining as if they know better.
