Zac Robinson Compares Emeka Egbuka To Cooper Kupp

May 12th, 2026

Bucs fans hear “Cooper Kupp” and want to scream about Todd Bowles and the close of the 2021 season.

That may be changing.

Today, new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson referenced Kupp, a stud receiver he coached on the Rams for five seasons (2019-2023). Asked about second-year Bucs receiver Emeka Egbuka, Robinson started gushing and compared him to Kupp.

“It’s incredible — I keep throwing the word ‘intentional’ around — but that is him to a T,” Robinson said of Egbuka. “The amount of work and preparation that he puts into it, he’s very similar to like a Cooper Kupp just in terms of how his brain works with the game of football the natural instincts. But he doesn’t have to change a thing.”

Robinson referred to Egbuka as “refreshed” and said he will make “huge, huge strides” in his sophomore season.

Joe was intrigued by Robinson’s body language talking about Egbuka. He started moving around, talking with hands and taking a tick faster. It’s clear Robinson is excited to see what’s next for Egubka.

So is Joe.

Interesting. I remember when Cohen came to town the fantasy chatter was that Godwin would be in the Kupp role. I am interested to see how all the WRs are used this year.

Sounds good to me. Kupp with a bit more speed based on their 40 times. I’ll take it.

  3. David Says:

I think Egbuka, Godwin, & McMillan can all play outside or slot. Godwin thrives in the slot though. It will be interesting

  4. Kgh4life Says:

Cooper was a slot guy and at the moment Chris Godwin occupies that role.

Unfortunately, EE isn’t lining up against Bowles lousy scheme.

Todd makes 2nd string QB’s look like Marino in their prime.

Cupp destroyed us all game and Bowles never adjusted.

Just the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Just imagine the numbers EE would put up versus Todd. Jerry Rice 2.0.

If Egbuka will catch the dang ball, he could be great.

But not as a WR1 who is covered by the CB1 of the opposing team.

He can be a good WR2 or WR3.

Hurst will be our WR1/X Receiver.

  7. 3.28.Evans Says:

I guess Cooper Kupp had tired legs too. Except for the Bowles Cover Nobody defense allowing the Rams to march into FG range in 30 seconds.

  8. Stpetematt Says:

With Mike gone, they may rotate positions to further make easy matchups since all 3 of our main receivers can play x, y, and z. When Hurst is in, I’d imagine he will play x the most so we might see more set positions in that scenario.

  9. Lakeland Says:

Emeka Egbuka can be a whole lot better than Cooper Kupp
Egbuka was shining as the Slot WR, when Godwin was out
Emeka Egbuka should be our slot receiver
Chris Godwin can play outside, or ride the pine
He’s too injury prone to be in the slot anyway

You make some valid points…CG14 is a dawg but his separation has decreased with injures and age…

i think they’ll all play in the slot…pretty easy to beat up on the #3 cb lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  12. BucEmUp Says:

Lynch mobb, thats just about any wr going up against his defense.

I do think he has a good year 2 though!

  13. Jack Says:

    X, Y, Slot…
All of our recievers will fill all WR roles to varying degrees.

  14. Bojim Says:

Not a bad guy to be compared to.
