Joe loves, loves, loves how it seems the Bucs went best player available in last night’s first round and also bagged an elite edge rusher who has such widespread respect.
University of Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain is now a Buccaneer. He comes with the hype of being an angry, focused and violent worker.
Joe loves the Bain story of how he supposedly greeted Miami recruits holding a bunch of shoulder pads to let them know hitting is mandatory.
Retired Steelers Super Bowl head coach Bill Cowher isn’t one for big hype. Joining the Pat McAfee draft extravaganza on YouTube last night, Cowher easily gushed about Tampa Bay bagging Bain.
“Great motor. This guy is relentless, gets after the quarterback. I mean, his motor’s unbelievable,” Cowher said.
Darius Butler, the former Colts defensive back, chimed in and lauded Bain’s ability to read plays and “get them finished before they even get started.”

I was surprised when Bain fell to the Bucs at #15…
It makes me wonder if the other GMs knew something our GM didn’t.
I was a bit concerned about the off-field BS and his car crash in 2024 but he is a Buc now and I will hope for the best like the rest of us.
I hope he makes enough money to hire a driver.

I think back to last years draft. Larry Foote, whom I have great respect for, bellowed “That’s how you win a Superbowl” when David Walker was picked. I know he hasn’t even completed a practice yet but…if Foote and JL aren’t blowing smoke then the Bucs just might have a beast of a line up this year with Bain, Walker, Yaya et al. DON’T muck it up Todd!

I think it’s insane to trade up for cornerbacks in the top of the first round so I laughed really hard at the cowboys and chiefs because seemed like they did no homework on other teams draft needs at all

Wouldn’t be mad with Kayden McDaniel or R Mason Thomas at all but if the Bucs can somehow get Jacob Rodriguez this will be a home run draft off the first 2 picks! Hoping he falls to us. Someone good should fall to us regardless. Go Bucs!!!

Braswell, whom Licht and Bowles have said in the past will have a break-out season, is out the door. He’s got little trade value, any team wanting him will wait until he’s cut and sign him for vet minimum. Bucs might get a player swap, getting a player the other team has on the chopping block, but that’s about it. Diaby or Nelson might have trade value, but with Walker still an unknown better to keep them as rotational pieces. Have to hope Muhammad isn’t another Reddick.
