New Bucs rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain.
Joe loves the agony emerging from South Florida.
That’s where many Dolphins fans are in disbelief because their team didn’t select hometown son and mauling University of Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain with the No. 12 overall pick, instead taking Kadyn Proctor, an offensive tackle out of the University of Alabama.
Longtime Dolphins writer and columnist Omar Kelly referred to the Dolphins passing on Bain as “the worst possible draft sin.”
The Dolphins were a huge wild card in last night’s first round because they’re in the midst of a complete roster overhaul. So every position for them was reasonably a position of need.
Man, Joe is so glad the Dolphins passed on the beast in their own backyard.
Joe saw on social media there were chants for Bain at the Dolphins draft party. Even more intriguing was the Hard Rock Bet platform, an official partner of the Dolphins, seemingly taking a swipe at the team via the Tweet below.

Love to see it, but they’ve got to protect Malik Willis.
Browns did the same thing as a team with a new HC, drafted an offensive tackle.
Probably also had to come to grips that almost their entire OL hit the market.

Hear me out… I’d prefer we get Anthony Hill Jr. over Jacob Rodriguez.
I think Hill is more rangy, and more well rounded. There’s no LVD. But I feel like his game and his instincts are up there with LVD. He too makes an impact as a pass rusher in the same way LVD could, and was also solid in coverage.

Hopefully Miami’s lose is Tampa’s gain in selecting Bain. Looks to a A selection from all the sports prognosticators. Apparently well coached at Miami and has growth potential in Tampa.

and Bain doesn’t know he has short arms, he just plays and wins his match ups…
Yes he will be playing better players every Sunday but he will still be doing what he has done all his life.
I am so relieved that we are not rationalizing some 2nd or 3rd ranked player at a position of need.

Losing Mike obscures it a bit, but this is turning into a great off season for the Bucs. Their biggest problem last year was a non-violent, aging front 7. After they draft a ILB tonight they will have added 4 upgrade starters — including Bain, Anzalone, and Robinson. Plus a nasty pass rush specialist and great depth with Rozeboom.

Dolphins are my number two team. By a distance. But they picked the right guy for that team at this time. Got to protect the QB. Glad they made the choice since it contributed to the drop into our laps with Bain.

Lefty is happy with the draft so far, Bain Jr is a solid pick and hopefully this time it works out picking an Edge Rusher,… the Buccaneers sincerely needed one with the anemic pass rush of 2025
Now, looking to today’s drat
Jermod McCoy… the Bucs can gamble now and take him
I feel pretty strongly about this one, the Bucs could use a RB
I am over Love and quite frankly, I am happy for the Cardinals!, but the Bucs would do well with either below
1.) Mike Washington Jr. Arkansas. RB.
2.) Emmett Johnson Nebraska. RB.
A nice DT would be groovy and there are plenty available!!
Lastly, why not reconsider bringing back Devin White? Maybe that ship has sailed, but I would consider it…. especially if the Bucs’ Powers that be, can shrewdly trade for the rights of Jim Schwartz and make him DC and Bowles HC
I might have some wishful thinking, but some of my ideas are realistic and doable!!!

Probably one of several positions we’ll pursue post-draft during the UDFA period. Somebody to make Josh Williams feel threatened of his roster spot.

This pick is an indictment on the effort of our D. Last year, any time they were down and couldn’t get off the field, some of our starters mailed it in. We need to get a cornerback badly. Zyon is one of those players who I just referenced. Lazy, bored, out of position, and couldn’t care less after getting paid. 3rd and 28 is because we have no pass rush and no coverage skills. Let’s address both early and often. I’m ok looking for ILB later in the draft. We addressed that position in FA. The only position that we didn’t really upgrade was corner. Benjamin Morrison’s ability will work itself out this year with an offseason, time to heal, and reps. We will know what we have in that kid, but we’re not done with the corner position by a long shot.

Screw the dolphins. This is a BUCS page and we did great!!!! Lets hope they stay focused tonight. We run a 3-4 defense so as long as kancey stays healthy those 3 will cause a lot of disruption. Lets hope Vea is eating his wheaties to be his old self again. We have some decent free agents LB signings maybe they stay with the front 7 tonight, then we will be stacked and all the Bowles naysayers can eat crow. GO BUCS!!!!!

Bain looked more like he was sentenced to life in prison than being selected in the first round by the Bucs when his name was called! (Let’s just say he appeared less than enthusiastic!).
