Focus Now On Trey Hendrickson?

March 7th, 2026

“Hey Bucs, do you have my agent’s number? We expect a call Monday.”

Joe was never comfortable with the chatter that the Raiders and John Spytek/Mark Davis/Tom Brady wanted two first-round picks for badass edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

Crosby, who is about to turn 29, is coming off knee surgery. That’s not a good mix. Not for two first-round picks. A first-round and a conditional Day 2 pick? Sure.

We’ll see if Crosby works out for the Crows, who got him last night for the ransom Las Vegas wanted.

Joe has no idea if Crosby wanted to play for Tampa Bay, though Joe is sure Chucky could have helped grease the wheels for his good friend and former player.

Still out there, though, is likely the second-best defensive end available, a guy who has 74.5 sacks this decade, a Florida boy who Adam Schefter says wants to play for the Bucs.

It would be wild to Joe if a team with a crater on its roster for the most important position on defense wouldn’t be in serious negotiations with a Hall of Fame-level player who wants to play for the Bucs.

So for Joe, the price tag on damaged goods like Crosby combined with Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht’s known lust for holding onto draft picks like gold just seemed like a move that had a better chance of being consummated in bars than in reality.

With Hendrickson, however, no draft picks need to be burned.

Unless Licht has damning intel on Hendrickson, there’s no good reason not to make a serious play for the Apopka native.

(Joe is waiting for word to seep out of One Buc Palace that the Bucs like Markees Watts.)

Cameron Jordan is available as well 😂

  2. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Given a choice between paying the icks for Crosby or getting Hendrickson, I’d take Hendrickson…however, I prefer neither. I trust the process.

  3. Tim Says:

If this team doesn’t make a splash on defense with a player like Trey then Jason and Todd need to be gone. These two guys know thier jobs are on the line after this season. They better show some fire in thier bellys starting Monday or kiss this season good bye. We can not go into next season with this same team and a couple new rookies from the draft. I understand there is a salary cap but come on they can make it work. Ive seen it before.

  4. BucEmUp Says:

Trey was “injured” after getting paid and now we want to trade for him??? This sounds like a bucs move. He wants to come here to lay on the beach…

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Free Agents Available
    Quarterback: 5
    Running Back: 6
    Wide Receiver: 10
    Tight End: 8
    Tackle: 7
    Interior O-line: 10

    Edge: 18
    Defensive line: 9
    Linebacker: 10
    Cornerback: 11
    Safety: 7

So the most options in free agency are Edge, Cornerback, Interior Offensive Line, and Wide Receiver.

    There is potention there:
    – Zion Johnson at guard would an incredible signing.
    – Khalil Mack is old, but…he could be rotational and veteran leadership for our drafted edge rushers.
    – Arnold Ebiketie could be good depth on a 1-year prove it deal. Plus, he’ll be wanting payback on the Falcons.
    – Jadeveon Clowney is the clock that keeps ticking. He’s doing 1-year deals at this point, and is aroud the quality that JPP was when we got him.

    These are just thoughts.

  7. Bucfan1988 Says:

I Still like Bradley Chubb or Jaelen Phillips

Either would be solid opposite Yaya

Should be no reason whatsoever that we don’t pick up a decent edge FA

Hendricksen gonna be too expensive and he’s 31
.

Would like to see a little younger talent this time..

  8. Joe Says:

Trey was “injured” after getting paid and now we want to trade for him???

    He’s a free agent.

  9. Bucfan1988 Says:

Hendricksen is 31 and gonna demand too much $$
    Not worth it

.

    Go younger

Got some decent edge rushers out there this year and also Vikings wanna unload a decent one that could be had for a draft pic
..
Licht just don’t sit on your hands and do nothing
..Make some moves bro!!

  10. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Jason Licht is a chicken bleeps loser

He’s not signing this guy. Stop. Dude is a crap GM

  11. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Jason licht is too chicken to sign a big FA that’s not his own.

    JL is a loser

  12. BPBucsfan Says:

Relax, Trey not coming here either.

  13. Tdogg Says:

You morons must have forgot licht brought in JPP and Shaq to help win a Superbowl. The only đŸ€Ą here is you fans.

    LOL!!!!!

  15. JR Says:

I think the Bucs are expecting Akheem Mesidor of the Miami Hurricanes to still be available at pick 15. He’s good but not so good that he’ll be drafted ahead of us. So I would look out for him and a washed up veteran like Joey Bosa in a rotation with YaYa.

  16. Bucs Guy Says:

If the Bucs go DE at 15, I hope it’s Howell. He seems more ready and has proven production. No development guys like Faulk. Bowles has a bad track record with DEs needing developed.

  17. Jw94buc Says:

Honestly everyone is afraid of the injury. You already have Diaby, draft a premium Edge rusher in the first or second rds. Three really good pass rushers which allows for rotation to keep Hendrickson fresh through the year. Plus Walker has a chance to make to the 53. He won’t be given the keys to the Lamborghini. If he works his ass, off he can earn them. Immediately go from a poor pass rush to one of the strengths of the defense in a one month time. Which also allows the cornerbacks to develop. So the team can truly see what it has for db talent. If baker duds this year. Draft a qb next year in a qb heavy draft. Barring Robinson does really good and takes Bowles job next year. Kind of covers all bases this way.

  18. Hodad Says:

Fans worrying about Hendrickson coming off knee surgery? Bucs are ready to waste millions on David a 36 year old washed LB coming off knee surgery, so why not?

  19. HC Grover Says:

Go to 4-3 …. edge problem solved.

  20. Bee Says:

He “wants to play for the Bucs”. 🙄 lol…he wants a job! He probably won’t come to the Bucs. Why spend so much money on one player when your team has 8+ holes at various positions?

    Its a Bucs life.

  21. Tom Edrington Says:

I would like to know the last time the Bucs actually a signed a guy the Joe(s) were pimping???? I still remember how badly they or at least one Joe wanted the Bucs to draft “Johnny Football” — obviously JBF would never make it in the player personnel department

  22. KABucs Says:

    Tdogg,
With a decent percentage of fan it’s “what have you done for me lately” . You didn’t know that?

You just have to ignore the following:
The super bowl win accomplished by signing a slew of stud FAs.
An extremely injured team last year, the worst part of it the online.
The fact that pretty much everyone that works for the Buc, the owners and the media love the GM.

He’s not perfect, he’s drafted some mistakes but every GM has. He’s still top 10 in my book. It’s not to blame for the team imploding at the end of last season. The Eagles did it a few years ago and came back and won the super bowl the following season

  23. Lefty R Says:

If the Bucs sign Trey Hendrickson, they need to go and get Jim Schwartz too!!!

Todd Bowles can remain head coach….. I don’t think anything can be done about that, even if you sent Luca Brasi for a visit, the Glazers and AC/DC are not budging!!!
However, get Hendrickson and bring in Schwartz and do whatever you need to do to get it done!!!!!

    _______

Joe will defend his Johnny Football campaign until the day he’s done.

    “Love Johnny!”
    🙄

  25. Lt. Dan Says:

    Nice Godfather reference Lefty!

  26. Oxycondomns Says:

hendrickson is damaged goods not crosby. crosby is a bonifide bad as. that guy would have changed the culture of this pathetic defense just like brady did. that being said glazers are in tank mode still enjoying profits of the superbowl eventually headed for a number 1 pick and rebuild on pace to win next super bowl in another 15 years

  27. Oxycondomns Says:

mike aint stupid he seed what the glazers are doing

  28. FlBoy84 Says:

Haven’t you heard Joe? Markees Watts is going to shock a lot of people and have a coming out party… he’s licht years better. lol

  29. Alanbucsfan Says:

Bucs could sign him, but they’ll be in salary cap hell.
If they’re all in for Super Bowl now, do it.

  30. #99 the big fella Says:

    Oxycondomns,

First, comparing Maxx Crosby to Tom Brady as some kind of equal “culture changer” is absurd. Brady walked into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room with six rings, nine Super Bowl appearances, and the greatest rĂ©sumĂ© in NFL history. Crosby is a very good pass rusher — he’s not a transformational figure that flips an entire franchise overnight.

Second, the idea that the Glazer family is “tanking” is pure fantasy. Since Brady left, Tampa Bay has won the division and stayed competitive while resetting the cap. That’s literally the opposite of tanking. Tanking teams gut their roster and chase draft position — they don’t keep extending core players and pushing to win.

And calling Trey Hendrickson “damaged goods” is laughable. The guy has been one of the most productive edge rushers in the league for years. You don’t stumble into that kind of consistent sack production if you’re “damaged goods.”

The reality is this: the Bucs are retooling, not rebuilding, and they’ve stayed relevant longer than most franchises do after losing a Hall of Fame quarterback.

    But sure
keep pretending they’re secretly planning a 15-year tank. That’s the kind of logic that only exists in comment sections.

  31. HeavyE Says:

    Let’s focus on M1K3!!! Let’s Go Bucs!!!

  32. Beeej Says:

I’ve heard he will go for $21 mil, have ALSO heard THIRTY mil. Could deal with $21

  33. ChiBuc Says:

I agree with those who think transitioning to a 4-3 base would solve some of our problems. But that requires change, which is difficult for JL/TB. I also believe Edmunds would have a greater impact than a premiere edge rusher under Bowles. And if you really want to go down the rabbit hole with me, shop AWJ for first round picks while he still has value. If he returns to all pro, great! But if he is the puny loafing often injured poor tackler we saw last year…another black mark on Todd the secondary whisperer and JL the shark jumping premature payer

  34. ChiBuc Says:

If $21 million, you’d be nuts not to scoop him up

  35. Ufc Says:

Some yall are the dumbest on earth. We dont need him hes 31….lol what media nonsense are yall spewing. Hes been one of them only guys at 15 plus sacks almost every year. Too expensive lol wtf do you mean. Yall will pay 15 million dor someone who u absolutely know isnt getting double digit sacks then say he has one year hes hurt. Ohhhhh hes too old. You r dumb as rocks. We cant afford the luxery of playing patty cakes like weve been doing. This mother f roster has not gotten better at all. And we have used the same approach yearly stop the fing insanity and do something.

  36. Jarrett Says:

    Yo joe

Someone brought up a good point

Why do our PASS RUSHERS have to drop back in coverage so damn much

    Shouldn’t they RUSH THE PASSER

  37. Kayla Says:

The Colts and Pats are the favs bidding for him. Both have a lot money to spend and MUCH better defenses and defensive coordinators.

  38. Oxycondomns Says:

    @99

the defense needs a culture change with a coach who relies on the players to be the leaders. hendrickson is not that guy.

  39. Been there since the beginning Says:

Well well, I didn’t think Maxx was really in play 😕 those Glazers don’t throw money around, nor does Licht give away to many draft picks. They have a near perfect opportunity, but Jason spills his water and someone else takes a really good pass rusher out of our hands. Never expect anything and be real happy if you get it.

  40. Pewter Power Says:

Licht is becoming a bad GM. I fully expect that he sees Trey as an old pass rusher and not going to get into a bidding war with anyone for a guy over 30 especially since they need linebackers and corners

  41. Proudbucfan Says:

We are not getting Trey Hendrickson, he wants to much money and the Glazers won’t sign off on it. I would be happy if they made me eat crow but IMHO it’s not happening.

  42. JimBobBuc Says:

Prior to last year, Trey only missed 5 games in his career so not really injury prone. The Bucs should have an abdominal specialist examine Trey. Also in Treys first 3 years, he didn’t get many snaps at NOLA, so in terms of snaps he’s a young 31. Will “Dollar Store” Licht pick him up? Nope, Trey’s too expensive for the cheap Glazers and Dollar Store.

  43. Lessismore Says:

At 31 years old, can Trey drop into pass coverage and run with a back?
Because Bowles ain’t gonna change his defense.

  44. Larrd Says:

    1. Sign Hendrickson, Nakobe Dean,
    2. Draft a DT in first round, LB in second.

Commit to 4-3 defense with Hendrickson, Diaby and Roberts at end.

    Sign Jim Schwartz!

Easy as pie. Tell Bowles he is promoted to Super Head Coach.

  45. LFGBucs Says:

Could sign Devin Lloyd and Kwity Paye for the price of Hendrickson. The Bucs do not have a lot of cap space and need multiple players on the D-side of the ball.

  46. Letsbuccingo Says:

I would like to see him on the Bucs but for the money he would get would destroy the cap space for a few years. Plus for that money you could two or three good free agents.

  47. Obvious Says:

    BPB – haha. Exactly.

  48. El hefe Says:

Crazy didn’t raiders want want 2 first and Godwin from us looks like JL and SPYTEK ain’t that cool with each other

  49. LynchMob50 Says:

They were so happy with 2025 they are running it back.

ME is coming back along with Dennis and LVD.

Brasswell is again going to shock the world.

Bowles is going to coach his championship level defense.

Licht will continue to waste picks in the draft and free agent busts.

    It’s a Bucs life!

  50. Saskbucs Says:

    In defense of signing Trey

31 is not that old. Khalil Mack who is being mentioned, had 14 a couple years ago at 32-33.

He may have less miles that Maxx, as Trey was a rotational player for first few years.

He was not happy with Cincy, Burrow goes down, so to did Trey
and I know he got surgery but I question how serious the injury was vs him just shutting it down for a new team this season.

We need a guy bad and he’s the most proven option. Cap can be worked, Mike, Trey and an ILB can all be brought in if the Bucs are serious.

  51. Scotty Mack Says:

Tom Edrington – “I would like to know the last time the Bucs actually a signed a guy the Joe(s) were pimping?”

I seem to remember Joe furiously pimping for some guy named Reddick, the year before we got him.

  52. FrontFour Says:

    31, injured and expensive. Really???

  53. Badbucs Says:

Fantasy #2 should come to an end soon. There will be too much competition for Trey. Price will get bid up near 30 mil and the Bucs should not pay that. Plenty of young guys with promise out there still for much less. Too many holes to fill to go pay for luxury items. We can’t be shopping at the Lamborghini store when we need 3 Fords.
Phillips, Mafeh, Oweh, Chubb and others are all affordable along with some of the older guys for short term help like Bosa, Mack or Clowney. MLB has to be addressed. 30 mil for Trey uses too much capital to afford what we need. MLB is a must but we are also in dire need of DT, CB, and OL depth. I’m all for spending what you need to make this team competitive but you shouldn’t chase rainbows. Manipulate the cap as needed just try not to be stupid about it.

  54. Joe Says:

Tom Edrington – “I would like to know the last time the Bucs actually a signed a guy the Joe(s) were pimping?”

I seem to remember Joe furiously pimping for some guy named Reddick, the year before we got him.

    Yes.

  55. Outrigger Says:

Why is nobody mentioning Jaelon Phillips. He’s 4 years younger than Hendrickson. I was surprised the Eagles didn’t franchise tag him. He would be my first choice as a free agent edge rusher. Thought Jason should have tried to sign him before the trade deadline last season.

  56. Bucsalltheway Says:

Crosby was the better option, he was not actually injured they pulled a rg3 when it came to him they knew his future after another failed season, trey Hendrickson on the other hand had a serious injury that took him from football so his negotiations should be a better deal in our favor.

  57. Tom Petty Says:

Kancey and Walker…… Remember them ? That’s 2 returning players that could/should have an impact on our D-line and pass rush.

Hendrickson had 4 sacks in 7 games last year. Sounds kinda like Reddick.
31 and looking for 1 last 💰 bag. I’m not a fan of trying to land him but if the team brings him in I’ll be rooting for him to produce

  58. #1bucsfan Says:

Watts will save this defense 😂😂😂

  59. #1bucsfan Says:

All jokes aside Jason has bin burned by defense ends in last. The remember Micheal Johnston FA signing who played for the bengals the year prior. That was a fail and now reddick who stole 14 mill from team glazer. Jason is deff trying to beef up the position. He drafted Spence brasewall JTS and yaya. Lots of misses there but has hit in JPP and Shaq. Suh was DT but those 3 guys made a massive diff on the defense.

  60. Noclu4u Says:

Bucs are out. It’s down to bears, chargers commanders
