Focus Now On Trey Hendrickson?

March 7th, 2026

“Hey Bucs, do you have my agent’s number? We expect a call Monday.”

Joe was never comfortable with the chatter that the Raiders and John Spytek/Mark Davis/Tom Brady wanted two first-round picks for badass edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

Crosby, who is about to turn 29, is coming off knee surgery. That’s not a good mix. Not for two first-round picks. A first-round and a conditional day two pick? Sure.

We’ll see if Crosby works out for the Crows, who got him last night for the ransom Las Vegas wanted for him: two first-round picks.

And Joe has no idea if Crosby wanted to play for the Bucs, though Joe is sure that Chucky could have helped grease the wheels for his good friend and former player.

Still out there, though, is likely the second-best defensive end available, a guy who has 74.5 sacks this decade, a Florida boy who reportedly wants to play for the Bucs.

It would be just wild to Joe that a team which has a crater on its roster for the most important position on defense wouldn’t be in serious negotiations with a Hall of Fame-level player who wants to play for the Bucs.

So for Joe, the price tag on damaged goods like Crosby and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht’s known lust for holding onto draft picks like gold just seemed like a move that had a better chance of being consummated in bars but not so much in reality.

With Hendrickson, however, no draft picks need to be burned.

But unless Licht has some damning intel on Hendrickson, there’s no good reason not to make a serious play for the Apopka native.

(Joe is honestly waiting for word to seep out of One Buc Palace that the Bucs like Markees Watts.)

Cameron Jordan is available as well šŸ˜‚

  2. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Given a choice between paying the icks for Crosby or getting Hendrickson, I’d take Hendrickson…however, I prefer neither. I trust the process.

  3. Tim Says:

If this team doesn’t make a splash on defense with a player like Trey then Jason and Todd need to be gone. These two guys know thier jobs are on the line after this season. They better show some fire in thier bellys starting Monday or kiss this season good bye. We can not go into next season with this same team and a couple new rookies from the draft. I understand there is a salary cap but come on they can make it work. Ive seen it before.

  4. BucEmUp Says:

Trey was “injured” after getting paid and now we want to trade for him??? This sounds like a bucs move. He wants to come here to lay on the beach…

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Free Agents Available
    Quarterback: 5
    Running Back: 6
    Wide Receiver: 10
    Tight End: 8
    Tackle: 7
    Interior O-line: 10

    Edge: 18
    Defensive line: 9
    Linebacker: 10
    Cornerback: 11
    Safety: 7

So the most options in free agency are Edge, Cornerback, Interior Offensive Line, and Wide Receiver.

    There is potention there:
    – Zion Johnson at guard would an incredible signing.
    – Khalil Mack is old, but…he could be rotational and veteran leadership for our drafted edge rushers.
    – Arnold Ebiketie could be good depth on a 1-year prove it deal. Plus, he’ll be wanting payback on the Falcons.
    – Jadeveon Clowney is the clock that keeps ticking. He’s doing 1-year deals at this point, and is aroud the quality that JPP was when we got him.

    These are just thoughts.

  7. Bucfan1988 Says:

I Still like Bradley Chubb or Jaelen Phillips……
Either would be solid opposite Yaya…

Should be no reason whatsoever that we don’t pick up a decent edge FA ……

Hendricksen gonna be too expensive and he’s 31….

Would like to see a little younger talent this time..

  8. Joe Says:

Trey was ā€œinjuredā€ after getting paid and now we want to trade for him???

    He’s a free agent.

  9. Bucfan1988 Says:

Hendricksen is 31 and gonna demand too much $$
    Not worth it…….

    Go younger…
Got some decent edge rushers out there this year and also Vikings wanna unload a decent one that could be had for a draft pic…..
Licht just don’t sit on your hands and do nothing…..Make some moves bro!!

  10. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Jason Licht is a chicken bleeps loser

He’s not signing this guy. Stop. Dude is a crap GM

  11. buccintimeforchanges Says:

Jason licht is too chicken to sign a big FA that’s not his own.

    JL is a loser

  12. BPBucsfan Says:

Relax, Trey not coming here either.

  13. Tdogg Says:

You morons must have forgot licht brought in JPP and Shaq to help win a Superbowl. The only 🤔 here is you fans.

    LOL!!!!!

  15. JR Says:

I think the Bucs are expecting Akheem Mesidor of the Miami Hurricanes to still be available at pick 15. He’s good but not so good that he’ll be drafted ahead of us. So I would look out for him and a washed up veteran like Joey Bosa in a rotation with YaYa.

  16. Bucs Guy Says:

If the Bucs go DE at 15, I hope it’s Howell. He seems more ready and has proven production. No development guys like Faulk. Bowles has a bad track record with DEs needing developed.
