Sean Tucker Proud Of His Blocking

February 23rd, 2026

Demonstrates blocking prowess.

Bucs running back Sean Tucker is a restricted free agent. And it seems he’s grown tired of a label slapped on him.

Tucker struggled with pass protection. That’s one reason he wasn’t on the field much in his first three seasons.

Under former Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Tucker exploded. And he improved his blocking, though he still had episodes of whiffs.

Now that he’s looking for a new contract, Tucker has gone on the offensive: He took to Twitter yesterday to display a cut-up of plays in which he got the job done blocking.

It is as if Tucker was telling people, “I can block, man. Here’s proof.”

Joe lands in Indianapolis today as does the football world as the combine begins Tuesday and the Indiana Convention Center in the heart of downtown Indianapolis turns into the NFL’s beehive and nerve center this week.

Tomorrow, Joe will talk to Bucs coach Todd Bowles and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. So Joe will get an idea if the Bucs plan to retain Tucker.

Joe initially thought if another team wanted Tucker as a starter the Bucs would wave goodbye. But without Rachaad White, who shat all over the rug of One Buc Palace on his way out the door in January, and Bucky Irving coming off shoulder surgery, one could argue that in the final days of February 2026, Tucker is the Bucs’ No. 1 back, on paper.

Here is a link that explains the compensation for a restricted free agent.

Ask Licht if he plans to lie to us again about Zyon and Yaya, SVD, Hall and Braswell, about Kancey being healthy, about Bowles being ready.

Ask him how he plans to get top tier FAs with the team looking like it’s just hit an iceberg.

And finally, ask him if the clowns who kept Bowles are going to let Mike Evans leave.

That would be a humiliating kick in the crotch.

  2. Stpetematt Says:

Many miles away, there’s a shadow on the door…

Ahem. Anyways, Bucs will be able to sign plenty of free agents including Tucker and Evans.

  3. Lessismore Says:

ModHairKen I hit the nail on the head.
Who’s gonna shock the world this year?

  4. First Last Says:

Tucker is an RB1 on a lot of teams tbh

  5. Tony Says:

    @StPeteMatt

Would be nice if they’d go out & sign some FAs (decent ones) but that’s something they just don’t do. Maybe they shock everyone.

  6. BigD Says:

Yes, the Bucs need to resign Tucker. No, the Bucs can’t afford to resign Evans. Why is that? Because Licht had to feed his ego and resign a broken down Godwin. Godwin’s 2026 Cap Hit is $33.68 mil. Then an unproven McCollum for a 2026 cap hit of $15.67 mil. There would be plenty of money to resign Evans had Licht acted in the best interest of the team, instead of trying to pad his “resign his draft pick” numbers. Had Licht not wiffed on so many high value defense picks, his percentage wouldn’t be in jeopardy.

  7. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Did JL wiff on picks? Or is TB unable to develop raw talents into NFL talent? Why does he not wiff on as many offensive players? Hmmmm

  8. Todd Says:

Tucker is like a pocket knife-he is useful and can hurt you.

Mike will sign for 15-17 mil base with another 5-6 available in full season bonus production incentives (Bonus incentives DO NOT count against cap). ME13 is a Buc for life.

Praying Love is available at 15 , because with Love and not so many injuries for a change-offense will score way more points.

  9. Geno711 Says:

FACT: Tucker whiffed on multiple blocks.

That does not mean he is ineffective runner; Just a bad blocker.

He did improve on his special teams blocking or we would have had more blocked punts.

  10. Nicholas Carlson Says:

It’s like he heard your podcast

  11. Hodad Says:

Please Joe ask Licht who’s going to shock the world this season?

  12. SlyPirate Says:

RUNNING BACK ROOM IS A MESS
White – Bucs are him walk
Bucky – Injured an having surgery
    Tucker – disgruntled restricted FA

Is Jeremiyah Love a dark horse Round 1 pick?

  13. Joe Says:

It’s like he heard your podcast

    🙂 Or his agent.

  14. Truth be Told Says:

he has proven to be a solid RB and should have a spot on this team.

  15. Usfbucs Says:

Our RB situation this year and our WR situation last year are prime examples of how you never know and how little control we really have.

  16. Usfbucs Says:

I have never understood why he doesn’t get the ball more. We keep Otton out there and he gets blown up on blocks all the time.

“sEAn TuCkEr is tHe WoRsT PasS PrOTecToR iN tHe NFL”

    -JBF posters

I’m not keeping the only guy in our RB room that can run by and away from defenses off the field because of pass pro. Though, this team also managed to have the RB who missed the most games have the most carries in 2024, which makes no effin sense in itself.

  18. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    *2025

  19. JimBobBuc Says:

Bring Tucker back. His pass pro isn’t great and he has whiffs, but so do many NFL backs. What’s interesting to me is how he’s been used. Mostly pitches using his speed to get to the edge. They rarely have him run up the middle, but when he does, he has more power than the other RB’s. His fumble rate is about the same as White and Bucky.

Josh Williams is a dark horse. At LSU he was very good in pass pro. Skip Peete liked him last camp. Keep an eye on him…

  20. WeDemBoyzFromDaBay Says:

Always been as big Tucker fan and would like to think JL will reward him with another contract because licht prefers signing his own players first and the fact that he was our best back last year. Let’s pray Bucky returns to his rookie form cause a lot of ppl are concerned about last year.

  21. jimmy Says:

as long as white isnt coming back who cares

  22. Kenton Smith Says:

I’ve watched for 3 years. White is a stud but I think maybe Mayfield jumped on his butt last year when he missed a run blitz pickup and our back got hit for a 5 yard loss. That’s I believe the New England game when Mayfield lost it after the game. White is good, but nobody is good enough to make mental focus mistakes like that. Looked like he got hims little feelings hurt. If he’d man up and apologize for “shatting all over the rug at One Buc Palace on his way out the door”, maybe we could still keep him. That would be my preference and then get the ball to Tucker for at least 200 rushing attempts. Bucky needs to compete for and earn every snap he gets. Those 3 can all catch, and run, and we’re good to go at RB with a competent OC.

  23. Tampa2ATL Says:

Keep Sean Tucker. If we had anyone on D that could “only” rush the passer like people claim Sean can “only” run the ball, we’d have a proven double-digits sack artist.

  24. Steve V. Says:

    Where’s another Patrick Ricard?

  25. Mobucs Says:

I’m a biased pro-Tucker fan. Given that, I think that the new OC was fairly successful with RB’s in Atlanta and he should be consulted about Tucker. If he wants Tucker in his offense (or not), go with his opinion.

  26. Vanessa Anne Says:

    We need to keep Sean.

And ideally, get him more snaps this year so we can see what he can really do.

He needs to work on his blocking a bit, but otherwise, he’s under-utilized as far as I’m concerned.

  27. StonedBucsfan Says:

He should be the starter for TB 2026

  28. garro Says:

When you are the blitz pickup you just can not whiff on ANY of them. Ask Baker.
Gruden was a real stickler on RBs who could not block. He was not wrong. It takes time for these dudes from college to learn who is coming and from where. Then getting in the proper place quickly to pick it up. Getting it wrong can be disastrous. Coaching counts here as well.

    Go Bucs!

  29. gp Says:

    @Tampa2ATL
    “we’d have a proven double-digits sack artist.”

Who TB would have drop back in coverage on 75% of his snaps so he couldn’t even get a rhythm going.
