Baker Mayfield On Pace For 3,683 Passing Yards, 26 TDs And 7 Interceptions

December 2nd, 2025

A quick look at last year’s NFL passing statistics would tell you Baker Mayfield this season is playing very much like another big name quarterback did last year.

That would be reigning league MVP Josh Allen.

A year ago, Allen threw for 3,731 yards with 28 TD passes and 6 interceptions with a 63.6 percent completion rate. His 12 rushing touchdowns and 531 yards on the ground put him on a level to win the prestigious award.

For the 2025 season, Mayfield is on pace for very similar passing numbers — 3,683 yards, 26 TD passes and 7 interceptions with a 62.8 percent completion rate.

Mayfield also has a whopping 6.6 yards per carry average (better than Allen) and leads the NFL in yards per carry on third downs, a stat highlighted during Sunday’s Cardinals-Bucs broadcast.

Joe is not trying to make a case for Mayfield as this year’s MVP, but Joe is trying to highlight how strong of a season Mayfield is having, despite his passing yardage, touchdown rate and completion rate being way down from the totals his posted last season.

Joe is very excited to see how Mayfield’s regular season wraps up if Mike Evans gets healthy and Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving stay healthy, along with the offensive line — and if Mayfield cat get his left shoulder fully.

No, Joe didn’t forget Jalen McMillan, who will come back soon after breaking his neck in August. If Evans and Godwin stay healthy, Joe doesn’t expect McMillan to get much work.

If only we had more “Mayfield” in some other players….um, like not getting bored and others who loaf…..guess its time to replace some of them…..im working on my part, the draft…

Godwin is exactly what Baker needed. Surprised Chris is so close. I’d almost forgotten what a leader he is. And I sure haven’t forgotten what a leader Mike Evans is. I used to think we had the best 1 and 2 receivers in the league. There was a reason I thought that. Both healthy for Carolina dooms the Panthers chances of beating us. Be kind of nice to start scoring some points again.

If we can get those other two guys back then we need to go for the kill on a few games and get Baker 5 tuddies a game lol.

  4. Panhandle Buc Says:

That TD number is kinda weak and a reflection of how bad our offense is with Grizz at the helm. Ya ya, injuries…

  5. JD Says:

We might see all 4 WR line up one day, few teams can stop us. Our defense wont need to win games for us. We just like our defense to kick ass. We are favored to win all our remaining games. I think we will. Mike is coming back. Todd needs help coaching defensive side, they can read his coverages and blitzs much easier these days.

    Meaningless stat for this season
    Great for his career but….

Law of averages biting Baker on the hot cross buns.

    62.8% completion percentage, woof.

I’ve said this before on here, but we’ll be in the market for at least 2 QBs next offseason. Someone to replace Bridgewater, and more than likely a 3rd QB. The who, how, & when we go about filling those spots is going to be undermentioned until it all starts happening.

Joe, you put out the Vegas line of TD passes for Baker Mayfield prior to the season. I bet the under. Looks like I’m going to hit. My bet on the under isn’t a criticism on Mayfield. He can throw under 30 TDs and still have an excellent season. He’s my favorite player to watch in the NFL.

Let’s get back to focusing on Saints nothing else matters this week

A strong season? Yes & No Joe, and I’m a big Baker fan now. What I do see is a rather erratic season, varying from ‘great’ to ‘run for the exits’. Obviously our offense has been in turmoil at times due to our OLine ‘musical chairs’, to Bucky missing 7 games already, to Mike Evans/Chris Godwin/Jalen McMillan missing a total of 28 games so far. Baker’s obviously struggled at times because of those things, BUT he’s had an uncanny knack for bringing us back late in the 4th qtr.

We’ve got a better record at the 12-game point this year (7-5) than we had last season (6-6) or in his inaugural 2023 year with us (5-7). I personally credit that to Baker, because our defense has fallen off the ends of the earth. Our defense has folded like cheap suits in the 4th qtr FIVE times already this season (Bucs had the lead starting the 4th qtr of the Falcons game, Texans game, Jets game, Seahawks game & Bills game BUT our defense gave up the lead in all 5 games). That’s FIVE games we fell behind AFTER leading in the 4th qtr because our defense crapped the bed, and on FOUR of those Baker brought us back to a victory … in virtually the last minute of each game. So ya, far as I’m concerned, Baker’s the reason we’re 7-5 not 3-9.

And yet, he’s been struggling far too often, in almost every game. Part of it’s probably due to him playing hurt to a degree. Part of it’s probably due to the quality of the protection he’s getting, a less effective Running Game, and receivers who aren’t doing nearly as well as our receivers did last year.

But I’m convinced that the biggest factor affecting Baker is the loss of Coen & replacing him with Grizzard. Sorry but they’re not even close to being in the same league in terms of game-planning & play-calling. Grizz is a nice guy (aren’t they all), but he just doesn’t seem to have that ‘feel’ for the game that Coen had. I guess that’s the danger of promoting someone to OC who’s never called plays before at the NFL level. Or at the college level for that matter.
