Dumbbell Issue For Luke Goedeke
December 2nd, 2025So a bunch of wildly wealthy people committed to excellence at One Buc Palace haven’t figured out how to put every possible tool at Bucs players’ disposal.
That was Joe’s takeaway from listening to beastly right tackle Luke Goedeke last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Goedeke moaned about how the Bucs don’t have 160-pound dumbbells in the team weight room. Apparently, Goedeke has complained about this for some time. Former Bucs defensive tackle Will Gholston was in on the interview and he verified that Goedeke has beefed about the Bucs only having dumbbells up to 150 pounds for a long time.
“That’s been a nook in my craw for a while, for years now,” Goedeke said. “We need to get heavier dumbbells here.”
Joe did some research on the price of 160-pound dumbbells, and while they’re outrageously expensive for the average Joe, there’s no good reason why Goedeke didn’t buy a pair himself and pass on the receipt to someone of importance at One Buc Palace.
And where is the strength coach in this? And who is his boss?
On the broadcast, Goedeke explained that he still flies economy class to save money, despite his 6-5, 320-pound frame. So perhaps that’s why he hasn’t bought the dumbbells himself. Goedeke has a strategy on Southwest flights, it seems, to prevent someone from sitting next to him.
Joe sure hopes a power hitter at One Buc Palace gets word of this equipment oversight and fills the weightroom void. What a shame it would be if Goedeke isn’t able to maximize his strength potential.

So what is the strategy on Southwest flights? Does he rip off a raunchy one?

Premium Urethane Dumbbells: High-end, durable urethane sets can be significantly more expensive, with some brands listing a full set (e.g., 160 lbs – 200 lbs) for over $8,000.
Let’s call it $10,000.
What is that at the Bucs stadium, a set of 200 hotdogs/beer?
$10,000 / 67 (Luke’s number) that’s 150 of us donating $67 apiece.
Joe, set up the fundraiser and I’ll be the first to donate my share to the cause since the Bucs weight coach must be a non-assertive wussy.
