ESPN: Bucs Unlikely To Make A Major Move

November 2nd, 2025

“Mr. Glazer, the asking price for Mark Andrews is insane.”

Unless the Bucs expect a couple of injured receivers to become healthy overnight, they sure could use a veteran receiver.

Whether the Bucs are able to pluck one from a struggling team looking for a draft pick is unclear. But Jeremey Fowler of ESPN isn’t convinced Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht will make a splash before 4 p.m. Tuesday when the NFL trade deadline hits.

With defenses now focused on taking out rookie Emeka Egbuka, Joe thinks you have seen how that has worked out the past two weeks with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the shelf.

The Bucs got away with it against Seattle (to a degree) and San Francisco. But the Lions must have laid a blueprint because the slimy Saints, which may be the worst team in the league, shut down the Bucs’ passing game, too.

A dependable veteran receiver would be a big boost. But Fowler doesn’t see Licht making a big move.

Adding, subtracting or sitting it out? Largely standing pat. The Bucs will do their due diligence but typically are not active at the deadline. They could use help because of injuries, either along the defensive front or at an offensive skill position. A fun link: Baker Mayfield is close friends with Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, who’s in a contract year for a losing team.

Joe thinks Andrews is a total pipe dream. Not because Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield wouldn’t want him, but what is Andrews’ ransom, a second-round pick? Joe realizes Andrews is a sinking eighth-year guy. But supposedly Lamar Jackson loves him, so he’s probably stayping put. The way Licht drafts, giving away a second-round pick is like trading away a Pro Bowl player.

    Pathetic

  2. Stucbuc Says:

Than bucs are unlikely to win many playoffs games. It’s a small window take advantage of it jl. This every 20 years for a sb is kinda of a crappy road map. Would like to enjoy one with my kids.

  3. HC Grover Says:

Bucs seem satisfied with another division title and a playoff game.

  4. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

The Bucs were no doubt a SB contender at the beginning of the season, especially in hind sight. Baker looked like an MVP. Egbuka like a ROY. Parrish and Morrison are coming on.

Losing ME, CG, Bucky, Goedeke, Mauch, not to mention Kancey has certainly made the goal of reaching the SB much tougher.

The Bucs are not just one player away anymore. No way Licht makes a trade. His draft picks are too important to him at this point. Can’t blame him.

  5. FrontFour Says:

Agree with most Senior Harry, bough have seen almost nothing from Morrison.

Too many needs, but, if Godwin is at a decision point, my wish list has Jaylen Waddle on the list from Miami. He’s got speed we don’t have and at 26 would pair up with EE and McMillan for a few years.

  6. MelvinJunior Says:

Bucs FO is either, weak and stupid, or they lack true confidence in this team.

  7. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

I’m all for being smart and not overpaying, but if Philips, Chubb or Meyers go to someone for a 6th round pick and we are standing pat… that will be incredibly disappointing. On the Miami situation, I totally agree with Joe on this. No GM who is invested in ANY of these players and doesn’t want to pay or resign them… this has all the markings of a total fire sale.

  8. MelvinJunior Says:

Need more depth for the middle part of the defense. There’s still a loooong season ahead. Placing ALL of your faith in 35-year old LVD renaming completely healthy, and playing at a high-level throughout the end, makes no sense. Especially, with an injury-prone Voc right beside him and a banged-up, aging Reddick. I’m not that concerned with WR. IF, Baker is “HIM,” then he will find a way! Need MUCH MUCH better out of our “Ivy Leaguer” Play-Caller.

  9. Outrigger Says:

It’s looking like Bucky, Godwin and Goedeke will not be ready for the Patriots game. The next 3 games are the key to our season. We have to go at least 1-2 in this stretch and I’m not sure we can do it without Bucky and Godwin. Evans and McMillan are not coming back any time soon. We must get a receiver NOW!!!

  10. Gofortheface30 Says:

Then f’ing Godwin better be back and playing at the level you expect him to be, Goedeke better be coming back and the linebackers better hold up. Some of these guys like Phillips and Chubb can be had for relatively meager comp. You telling me a 4th or even 3rd rounder is better than a Jaelan Phillips? I have a good idea, let’s do nothing, draft a David Walker only for him to get hurt anyway! Let’s draft a tweeter tackle, and turn him in to a mediocre center. That outta do it. Look, Licht is a top flight GM, top 3-5 even, we’re a well run operation. But it doesn’t mean we have to be on board with every-single-decision. God dang McMillan is still in a neck brace with broken bones, fee – unbeknownst to us until a FEW DAYS AGO. Guess what, he ain’t coming back this yr. People can say “be happy with 6-2.” Sure – but let’s not pretend it will be sustainable with poor offensive line play, zero running game. We need some guys coming out of the bye, period. If not, there’s nothing wrong with making a move. Next year isn’t promised

  11. Jim Hennessey Says:

Satisfied with 10-7, 9-8, 8-9. Just keep buying your tickets and paying stupid high concession and parking prices.

  12. Ben Says:

Bucs Front Office still in build mode when they should be in win now mode. I think Licht prob sees what teams want for return and is scoffing, he can do better with that pick. Problem is, his 2nd rounder and first rounders recently were Braswell, JTS and Hall. Sometimes you need to go out and get someone you cant draft. At minimum I hope they add an ILB. Brooks would be a very good scoop that would help this team. Deep draft next year though and again JL.is prob thinking he can draft a guy like Brooks.

  13. Kayla Says:

No trades. Keep the picks. I believe internally the Bucs think the injuries are just too much to overcome for a true SB run this season. Focus on 2026. Extend Baker, getting Cody and Luke back healthy solidifies our O-line, get Godwin 100% and Kancey back, and maybe Mike for his farewell season, draft a WR and pass rusher 1-2 in whatever order the best players available. You’re also getting David Walker back like an extra 4th rd pick. Draft another ILB or two, your secondary is already turning into a team strength, and make a serious SB push.

  14. orlbucfan Says:

Got the anti-Bowles/Licht crowd out in force. You guys really are boring. No, Licht won’t bite. He’s focused on the Draft. BTW, there are still 9 games left, you know?

  15. Beeej Says:

Pittsburgh jumps at every FA out there (Remember people here screaming for Jalen Ramsey?) Pittsburgh has one of the worst defenses in the league to show for it, will be Rodger’s undoing for getting to another Superbowl. As a result they have little cap money and fewer draft picks. Bucs will never have that problem.

Nearly ANYone we trade for is a pick wasted on a guy who won’t be here next year, exCEPT mebbe an ILB who can replace Lavante, but I expect they’d rather draft a guy and get the 4 year rookie contract

  16. DS Says:

Only thing that bothers me about Licht is he only thinks about the future when the name of the game is winning a Super Bowl, also bake isn’t going to get any cheaper

  17. Beeej Says:

There’s that, but the “all-in” thing cost us 3 seasons of rebuilding on the cheap. I dunno, is that a fair swap for a Superbowl?

  18. Jeff and Jack's grandpa Says:

Sorry my low iq grandsons mother was a pill popper so he ain’t right in the head

  19. Oscar Says:

Comparing this years defense to last year’s defense is a no brainer. This year’s version is so much better than last year’s primarily on the back end which makes the front seven better by default. Winfield looks to be the Winfield of old. Tykee is playing lights out at safety and is so much better than what we had last year. You could say that Jamel Dean this season bears no resemblance to the 2024 version. This iteration is by far the better. Add to that Parrish at nickle, playing like a ROC candidate plus Morrison for depth and I think the point is made. Lavonte may not be as good as last year but I don’t think he’s a liability and as much as we criticize Dennis, this year’s version is better than what we trotted out there last year. We’re without Kancey but Reddick and Roberts have helped to offset his loss.

All of this to say that we should do something to bolster the offense, assuming Godwin, Bucky and Goedeke don’t come around. It would be a shame to waste this defense which should only continue to get better. Adding another pass catcher will make make Egbuka more dangerous.

  20. Oscar Says:

Last season we wasted a top 5 offense. Let’s not waste a potentially top 10 defense this year.

  21. Stpetematt Says:

A guard and/or an ILB are the only things that really make sense. That’s especially true if almost all our starters are coming back for sure. I wouldn’t mind Waddle but only if we intend to keep him long term and we’re certain someone isn’t coming back.

If McMillan does come back as well as Evans and Godwin what do we do then?

  22. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

FrontFour, I agree with that. Same with what GoForTheFace is saying.

If the Bucs can get a steal, like a JPP for a 3rd rd pick, go for it. But I don’t see it. Other teams will grab it up if its such a good deal. But that is Licht’s job, find us another JPP.

  23. Stpetematt Says:

Also, both Baker and Egbuka are injured. Hopefully these 2 weeks off will be enough to bring them back to health. That’s why the offense has struggled- that and line play will not be the same as last year unless we trade for a really good guard and Goedeke comes back!

  24. Aqualung Says:

The Ravens still believe they can win the Super Bowl. Deranged, yes, but they’re not going to offload Lamar’s favorite player under any circumstance. Lotsa drinking on a Sundays morning.

  25. Larrd Says:

Jeremy Fowler is just speculating and it doesn’t make much sense. The Bucs do not use TEs that much and Otton is fine, no one would part with a second rounder for Andrews at this point, and the Ravens will probably still win that division and are unlikely to trade any of Lamar’s weapons.

If there are bargains on good players Licht would kick the tires, I am sure. I don’t think many teams believe they are out of it, yet. Tennessee, Dolphins, New Orleans, Jets, Browns.

  26. Boltsfan17 Says:

The obvious flaws on this team need to be addressed and could be through trade but I have zero faith Licht will do the right thing.

  27. HeartyDickerson Says:

“The way Licht drafts, giving away a second-round pick is like trading away a Pro Bowl player.”

Licht is good but the amount of praise this site gives the guy is borderline comical.

In his 12 years of drafting, he has 2 total Pro-Bowls from his 2nd round picks. He hasn’t drafted a Pro-Bowler in 5 years.

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs Oline has gotten Baker beaten up in the last 2 games (at least 2, maybe more). Excessive OLine injuries aren’t the cause; inadequate depth is. With 9 regular season games to go, and ‘potentially’ 4 more, anyone want to set the odds as to how long/well Baker will hold up?

Fixing our OLine is the key to protecting Baker, improving our Run game, and also improving our Passing game. Our only hope is to trade for at least 1 starter-quality OLineman (preferably a Guard) to give Baker & our offense a fighting chance.

  29. MelvinJunior Says:

“There’s that, but the “all-in” thing cost us 3 seasons of rebuilding on the cheap. I dunno, is that a fair swap for a Superbowl?”

Uh, YES. Is that even a REAL Question!? There is NOT ONE single GM, HC, FO, or regular ‘individual’ person ALIVE, who would not agree to that immediately… In a HEARTBEAT. Even, before you could get it outta your mouth. Seriously, THAT QUICK. Most, if not ALL, would give-up a whoooole lot more than JUST THAT. 💯 All. Day. Long. EVERYDAY, and then twice again, on Sunday’s. A complete total no-BRAINER. I mean, WHAT else are you even DOIN… Just “3-YEARS!?” :/ Makes no sense.

  30. BigBoiBuc Says:

Watching the games today, if Grizz doesn’t figure out how to incorporate all our TEs into the passing game, he’s not the guy. Same with RBs being thrown to. Every single team in the league is using them as weapons.

  31. MelvinJunior Says:

In all honesty, there’s just not a whole lot out there available, period. At least not any true game changers (either as a rental, or a multi-year, vital cog) that would benefit our timeline. Whether it be this year, or for the next few. I don’t believe this FO truly ‘believes-in’ THIS team having any legitimate shot at WINNING a Super Bowl this season. And, they are probably right! They also, have a much better understanding of all of the injuries… Which, my best guess is it’s NOT good. Obviously, not. These guys aren’t even CLOSE… Godwin, Evans, Bucky, Goedeke, & JMac. EVEN, IF any of them are to make-it back… How ‘effective’ will they really be!? I’m thinking not very much. I am also thinking that Crosby must be some type of degenerate gambler, or poker player… I mean, WHY TF ELSE, would he be soooo intent on staying with a RAIDER TEAM, that is no closer to winning, or even competing (in that division), than what I am!? He must really LUV hims some Vegas! That has to be FOR SURE. Makes NO Sense.

  32. MelvinJunior Says:

There are way too many teams still ‘thinking’ they have a shot, and are still trying to win this season. Even, in the NFC…. Where, it appears to have 6 of the 7 Playoff Spots/Teams locked. Plus, teams seem to be a lot less willing to part with their best players to begin with, right now. Add it all up and the prices are sky-HIGH.

  33. MelvinJunior Says:

With all that being said, if Carolina and Minnesota ’wins’ and Green Bay and Detroit loses, coupled with San Fran winning and Chicago losing… It shore would feel a lot better if we could shore up the middle heart of our Defense.

  34. BigZ Says:

JL is kidding himself if he thinks our ACTIVE receivers will get us to the promise land. I doubt CG will return to his previous form, mentally and physically that will be tough. ME is aging and might not be back, and if so how effective will he be? What’s his strength, cardio, etc.

What if we lose EE or Otton for a few games.

Go spend some of those Hall, Hargreaves, Arroyo, Gay, JTS, and McNicolls picks on a vet who we can keep for a couple of years and helps us today.

Second rounder for Andrews is a joke, maybe a fourth.

  35. BigBoiBuc Says:

Joe(s) is not reporting what they know about Bucky. Or if they dont know, that’s not good either. Either way, it’s a bad look.

  36. Redzone Says:

Baker has 3 comeback wins – easily could be 3-5

ME, CG, Bucky, Jalen, Luke, Cody, Kancey, all could be on season ending IR

    McMillan career could be over

They’re just as close to a top 10 draft pick as a SB – that’s the modern NFL lol

Here’s hoping it’s the latter but lose Evan’s and David next yr is automatic reload/rebuild

  37. Miller5252 Says:

Package up Dean and some picks and go get a big time player for us. After drafting 2 new corners and the new contract for the other one, it’s very slim that Dean comes back next year. Might as well use him as trade bait

  38. Jeffrey Becker Says:

could get Njoku cheapish and go bookends to help line
