Chucky: Today Is Tez Johnson’s Day

September 28th, 2025

“Hey Todd, I like this Tez Johnson. Make sure he gets some snaps today so I look smart, will ya?”

Your No. 1 Bucs receiver Emeka Egbuka told the seductive Kay Adams last week that backup receivers are on the roster for a reason and with Mike Evans out and Chris Godwin unlikely to play alot today, this is chance for the backup receivers to shine.

As far as the first coach to win a Super Bowl with the Bucs, Chucky thinks that means rookie Tez Johnson makes an impact.

Because of injuries, Egbuka, the star rookie receiver for the Bucs, is now the Bucs’ No. 1 receiver. Yeah, Chris Godwin, according to several reports, should play today. But reports from some of those same reliable stenographers suggest Godwin will be on a pitch count, which makes sense. Godwin hasn’t played since wrecking his ankle last October.

Enter Johnson. He logged 21 snaps on offense last week but was only targeted once. Chucky, in a social media video for Barstool Sports, believes Johnson could have an impact today.

“With the injuries, he’s going to have to play,” Chucky said of Johnson.

Chucky explained playing slot, Johnson got open last week against the Jets. Now if Godwin plays today, surely he will play the slot. But if he is on a pitch count, then Johnson could get more snaps.

Joe can see how the Eagles might be so stressed about Godwin at slot that once Johnson goes out there, there’s a chance the Bucs catch the Eagles napping.

    Tez has juice no doubt

  2. Aqualung Says:

Gruden is hilarious, I gotta give him that. Someone should remind Chucky that Dextette Jackson of App State didn’t exactly crush the league when he was running out of bounds and ducking for cover, and Tezzette is the same only smaller, with a lost punt returner’s gig and dropped can of corn to his resume’ so far.

    Aqua

Don’t know what TEZ will be yet, but he is faster, not afraid to get hit, and has better hands according to everyone at Bucs Camp

We will definitely see him make something happen pretty soon

  4. Davyboy Says:

If Tez gets the ball tomorrow, he will light the Eagles up! They will struggle containing him.

  5. MadMax Says:

We still got Shepard and Miller too….and I hope to see Tez get some nice catches.

  6. garro Says:

Wow me and Chucky are on the same page? Miller, and Shepard will be big too.

    Go Bucs!

  7. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I am glad the Glazers and Chucky made up. I don’t want Chucky as our coach, but I love having him support the Bucs. He is funny as hell.

Dexter Jackson? Going back 20 years?
Tez would have had a long touchdown if Baker could have hit him just last Sunday. The kid has great hands. He just needs Baker to throw him the ball. Unfortunately, it was backup QB’s that got used to throwing him the ball in the preseason. They don’t have any chemistry yet, but Tez has good hands and is shifty. He could help

  9. Beeej Says:

I think Tez only does like a 4.5

  10. Outrigger Says:

Good thing Baker didn’t hit Tez on that bomb he over threw. The Jets would’ve had plenty of time left to drive down the field and score the winning TD on our sorry ass defense

  11. Zoocomics Says:

Here’s the problem with Tez’s situation, depending on whether Godwin returns, depends on his role, right? Baker’s strength is on his first read, with our Oline, that’s even more apparent than before given if that first read is bottled up, he hasn’t had much time to scan the rest of the field. Tez strikes me as a volume slot guy, and right now he looks like he’s in the role of Scotty Miller, where they have 1 or 2 plays drawn up and who knows if Baker has a chance to take a shot with him.

  12. BillyBucco Says:

That’s just Dave complaining like he always does.
Im sure Tez will be fine when given the chance.
He was wide open when Baker threw out his arm.

  13. orlbucfan Says:

American football in Oz? Whatever. Go Cardiac Bucs!! Can’t you tell I’m listening to Bucs Radio? LOL.
