I know which play you’re talking about, the 3rd down pass, I thought it was zone as well by the original TV view, but it was in fact man, and Morrison got turned around by Wilson – which is OK, Wilson is one of the best WR’s in football, it’s OK for a rookie to lose a one-on-one battle. More important is that it wasn’t just sitting back in soft zone. You lose some, but you’ll win some as well in those matchups.

Give credit where credit is due. Bucs’ defense is playing an awesome game. Penalties on the Bucs’ offense have been incredibly frustrating, but they’re probably understandable since almost none of these OLinemen have played together. Looks to me like the Oline is doing a much better job of pass blocking than they are run blocking (didn’t expect that). Not liking the play-calling at all, by either Grizz or the Jets OC.

Watching live from the TV angle, so I could end up being wrong, but it sure seems like the Jets are sitting on the run. Also Grizz is doing a terrible job of telegraphing the runs, and what direction they’re going, not a lot of misdirection or anything fancy like Coen was calling last year. Likely due to all the injuries, so I won’t get on him too hard.
Pass blocking is really inconsistent – they do look fine on some plays, but then on others they’re giving no time at all. Baker isn’t helping since he’s holding the ball forever at times, he really needs to just get rid of it. Wiz kid could help him out with some more slants, and not being so predictable with all the screen passes. In fact the Bucs need to throw some fake screens, where you setup, then go deep – that would back off the pressure, but Baker would have to be really aware of pressure and just throw it away if it’s not there, otherwise he’ll get killed.
But man, 20-6 with this bad line play and the refs, I’ll take that 10 out of 10 times.

I know you got to run the ball, but Wiz kid is too transparent with the runs, you can just look at the formation and know where the ball is going. No misdirection and little motion, missing a ton of the flourishes that Coen was doing. Again, could just be the offensive line issues and not wanting to do anything too complicated with all the backups.

You’re limited on what you can do by the line, you don’t want Baker taking hits by holding the ball. Only issue with the runs is that he’s telegraphing them, I’m calling not just run/pass, but what direction, and I’m right almost every time, and you can tell the Jets defense is sitting on the plays.
You don’t want Baker holding the ball, and the Jets seem to be guessing correctly when the Bucs are going to run a screen as well.
Wiz kid needs to mix up the formations some more, do a lot more motion, just anything to try to cause some doubt with the Jets so they’re not doing, like they did on that drive, literally sending 10 guys on 1st down because they know for certain it’s a run.

Also with all the injuries, and a three score lead, you just want to get the game over with – so that’s another reason to just run the ball. I think we’ll see mostly runs from this point so long as the defense holds up.
I’ll take a W in any fashion. Frankly I was worried about this game for the reason we’re seeing on offense, but it’s a great day for Bowles not to just sit back and zone and actually try to win the game, not just play not to lose on defense.

I’m not a Baker Boi, but it’s really hard to find much wrong with Baker when he’s trying not to get murdered every time he drops back to pass the ball.
